We need a thread for talking about one of the best entertainment in... err.. the world? And it's movies! Talk about any movie's you've seen lately or one's that have already been shown, or even some that aren't released yet!
I'll start the topic, X-Men 3 will be coming out May, 26, 2006! And features fan favorites like Beast, Shadowcat and Arch Angel as supporting cast.
Can't wait to see that movie! :tem

There's gonna be another Spiderman movie? I didn't even know that. So no, I don't know anything about Venom. :P Hope it's as good as the previous movies though.

Ah I see. :)
Yeah, for X-Men 3, there is a new director. And for the 5th Harry Potter movie, Order of the Phoenix, there is also going to be a different director.

Venom's one of the better designed villians in all of American comics, but the bad thing is he has a pretty lame rationale for how he does things. Of course, not that psychos need MUCH rationale to do anything, but "I want to eat your brains" gets old after a while... :amuse
Though I'm sure Sam Raimi and his great group will still have good stories to tell about both villians in this movie.

I've always prefered carnage(visually that is)... not venom... but then again, my favorite color is red so that's probably why. They are both really evil especially carnage... *shivers*
as for beast, I've seen his make up and such... didn't look all that great, but then again it was just a little pic. I can't wait till it comes out :)

Carnage had a killer design too. (Pun intended.)
But then again he WAS designed by Mark Bagley, one of the best Spider-Man artists ever.

Ya--- I really want to read all those stories... do you know of any place where one can read the stories as what happened in the comic x-men without having to hunt down all the comics? I really want to get read about x-men and how the story progressed and how it is now and all that. My favorite arc of x-men was the apocolypse arc. I love cable and bishop and wolverine and his wicked girlfriend :p.(gotta dig them asians :p) But I only remember this stuff really because I watched the cartoon for quite a while :). (is it different from the manga series...much?)
sorry for the off topic post... on topic, the spiderman movies have been good, just nothing Spectacular... I mean I liked them, but I'm not dieing to see it like I am xmen 3 :)

The cartoon is pretty different in that they tried to change the stories to make them less chronologically confusing, but they did keep most of the story intact. There's a lot more details and subplots in the comic series though. And I think there are places to download them, but I'd have to ask a friend about it.

I love both franchises. I thought Spider-Man was excellent, the first movie. And I thought X-Men was amazing given that Bryan Singer and his crew only had a very limited time to work on it. X-Men 2 took the franchise to another level. Just an incredible movie, with an amazing cast and so many good things going for it.
Spider-Man 2 I was not as crazy about except for Dr. Octopus - they made him a cooler character than in the comics! But I didn't care much for all the inner turmoil Peter had to go thru - it made for good humor in the beginning, but it dragged on a little too much. But it had a great climax. The conclusion could have been somewhat better.

Marvel comics used to be better - which is a shame because with all the attention the movies bring to their trademark characters, they should have done a better job of finding all the best writers and artists and having them get to work on great stories.
But Marvel's rival, DC, managed to sign most if not all of the writers and artists. That was a shrewd business move on their part.
So right now, DC Comics are having better stories than Marvel in my opinion. Oh well.
In the meanwhile I'll stick to reading manga and watching the movies :amuse

Yeah, he's a new guy. But so was Christopher Reeve when he first landed the role for the old Superman movies.
His name's Brandon Routh.
Singer's Superman Returns Presentation!
Source: Tim of LUZER November 19, 2005
Scooper 'Tim of LUZER' was present at last night's Bryan Singer lecture for "Princeton Library's Christopher Reeve Lecture Series" where he, joined by executive producer Chris Lee, showed the Comic-Con footage and spoke in great depth about Superman Returns (among other topics), with Chris Reeve's mom also in attendance. Here are some of the highlights from the evening:
* When a gentleman asked if the goofy aspect that he loved about the old Superman flicks would be in Returns, Bryan answered that he is trying to steer clear of "goofy" but it is definitely the most romantic and humorous film he has done to date.
* There is no truth to the rumor that there is a clause in Brandon Routh's contract to do a Superman/Batman crossover flick, only a standard Warner Brothers multi-picture deal. Although I was later told that even though it most likely will never be seen in the movie, the set was so detailed that the Daily Planet newspapers were all filled with stories, including a "Bat Creature" being spotted in Metropolis with a picture of a shadowy Batman jumping off of a building with Jimmy Olsen photo credits. Very cool. Bryan also mentioned that the only time he ever considered a Batman/Superman movie was when Wolfgang Peterson was attached, and just thought how he would do it. "Who would be the bad guy? It'd have to be Batman. But he can't be that bad...he's Batman!" He said tonight was the first time he had thought about it since then.
* As confirmed already Noel Neill (The Adventures Of Superman's Lois Lane and Lois Lane's mother in Donner's '78 film) will be making a cameo, which Bryan described as a important one, in addition to Jack Larson's cameo featured on Bryan's Video Journal #25 and in the Comic-Con footage.
* When asked about Kevin Spacey's portrayal of Lex Luthor (whether he was a scientist, billionaire, etc.), Bryan said that Lex is "fresh out of jail" and that his history with Superman and/or Clark doesn't tread one way or another over the groundwork left by Smallville. Only that the two characters have some kind of history as we join them in the movie.
* Bryan agreed with someone in the audience that the biggest change to the Superman mythos he made was giving Lois a kid with James Marsden's character (not a raised S logo). He thought this was something that you've never seen Superman deal with before that his version brought to the table. You've seen Superman save every disaster, but how would he deal with this? The world has moved on a bit, but it seems Lois has completely moved on.
* To keep Clark's disappearance under wraps, Martha Kent sent postcards to Lois during his Daily Planet hiatus. In the Comic-Con footage Martha asks Clark "What about that nice girl you used to talk about? The one you had me send post cards to?" or something to that effect.
* There's roughly 1,400 effects shots to be completed to the movie, and although obviously an expensive movie, the budget has been exaggerated a bit on the net, and is still roughly under 200 million.
* The opening credits will feature John Williams classic Superman march, with a new score by editor/composer John Ottman integrating old and new themes. I believe I also caught a mention that the opening credits will feature some of Superman: The Movie.
* There's a huge plane action scene, briefly seen in the Comic-Con footage, that may run 20-25 minutes and is going to be BREATHTAKING and UNBELIEVABLE.
* A huge amount of time and effort went into fighting gravity so there wouldn't be any "droop-age" when Superman flies, including clever camera maneuvers and several green covered men puppeteering the cape at any given time.
* Superman being able to breathe in space (and underwater) is addressed in the movie, and yes he has to breathe in Bryan's Super-World. He is "too logical" in his thinking to let these things fall under the suspension of disbelief category.
* The raised S under the suit is addressed, as is the costume's origin in some way.
* The sets are incredibly detailed, down to the stack of business cards on Perry White's desk, and some of the props have already gone on sale at the prop department for cheap as heck. (Someone has already snagged Lex Luthor's smoking jacket for twenty bucks.)

Watched Narnia and 7 Blades.
Narnia: Haven't read the books yet, though the story leaves much to be desired in the character development area, with everybody having strong bonds with just about everybody else when they have exchanged merely two lines that we've seen. On the other hand the world looks and feels so real that you never question the existence of the mighty minotaur general or the majestic Gryffons, rather let yourself be immersed in the magical lands of Narnia.
7 Blades: A fantasy story that looks like an anime gone humanized! Then again, that's what chinese action fantasy movies are these days! Extreme haircuts, downright weird looking swords and other weapons, a somewhat illogical scenario that to me only serves as an excuse for continuous slashing. Any anime fan who likes fighting scenes has to watch this one. Important notice though, as with most Chinese action fantasy movies do not watch if you cannot stand the cheese names of the characters and sword (something along the lines of "Sword of the Grumpy Dragon Waking at the Break of Dawn Showering Enemies with 1000 Years of Dog Breath")

Wow, am I the only one watching old movies? I have just finished watching "My Fair Lady".
My Fair Lady
Starring : Audrey Hepburn :love
rating : 9.5/10
This is superb classic mussical movie which won quite a few academy awards for it's superioty. It is about a girl who cant speak English well and so she went to a professor and asked him to teach her. After 6 months, she is to test her English in the emperal ball where kings and queens are also present and language experts are there to detect imposters. It's a nice movie overall with singing and acting all together in one movie.
I loved it. We watched it in school since we were reading the book 'Pygmalion' in Englsih class. I lovd the songs and the story. ^_^ //DZ

It's very well done - captures the whole story pretty well. For an old movie, the special effects were amazing. So yeah, I recommend it if only to experience it at least once. Even if you're an atheist, you'll still probably appreciate all the work the producers, director, actors, and SFX people put into it.
It's long, though.

I have just watched another older film. It is called 'Rope'. It is another film by the genius of Albert Hitchock. The staory is about 2 young and smart college students who murdered a good friend of them using a rope to strangle him. Then, they put the body inside a chest and organized a party. Table cloth and food were put on the chest so that people wont try to open that chest. Of course, one of the person who attended the party knew something and finally, he managed to discover the truth of the chest and the rope. The police came and................THE END.
I also happened to watch G.I. Jane too just a few hours ago. When I watched until 1.43.00, the whole DVD jammed and even until now, I still cant continue the story. If anyone can give me a link to download the movie online using any channel (direct, torrent, p2p..etc...) please tell me. I like to know the ending of this movie.

*Feels bad for not having watched any of these classics, not even Godfather...*
Umm, I wouldn't know about Narnia, there was little to no character development I give you that, but I'll know better when i read the books.
As for old movies, I watched one black and white and with no sound (that old) called "Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari"/"The Cabinet of Doctor Calligari". In my opinion it's a very nice movie with very interesting plot twists and an ending you'll either love or hate :tem
EDIT/ As far as Alfred Hitchcock goes, I've only watched "The Birds" which was a marvellous thriller :tem

I was actually mighty impressed with the latest Harry Potter film. I'm not a fan of the books or the films, but this one was quality. Well worth seeing.
Speaking of The Godfather, I've just finished watching the trilogy again and it's still as good as ever. I just love Coppola's attention to deail and how he mangaes to capture the actor's being very natural. If you haven't seen it, make it your job to see this weekend! It's definitely something that has to be seen.
Also, the latest adaption of Oliver Twist (Roman Polenski) is amazingly good. Gritty, dirty, violent. Fantastic stuff.

X Men 3
Yeah, I'm looking forward to see Logan and Ororo work together. XD And Jean. Heck, I saw the trailer and the Brotherhoods have multiplied and all...
Spiderman 3

Pirates of the Carribean 2
Johhny Depp's in it!! :love
Oh, and I've jsut recently watched Howl's moving Castle. Amazing, I say.
It's so magical and natural at the same time. Miyazaki was able to put in little elements that people usually do. Like that scene where they were eating breakfast.
You notice how Sophie went for the yolk first. XD Alot of people love the yolk and tend to eat that up first. I myself, leave that for the last, since I leave the best for the last. >_> The movie felt real to me in a magical way, and that's why I loved it.
I also love Disney films. Old ones, of course. And I tend to watch movies whcih stars Johnny Depp, or is directed by Tim Burton too ^_^

As far as I know Venom wont be making any kind of an appearance and the enemies one for sure is "Sandman" as I already saw the picture of the actor all in the garbs. I was hearing its gonna be also Hobbgoblin, and as reported of the whole thing with Harry Osbourne that from interviews that its something we all wont expect, I guess. *shrugs* Eh, internet rumors, who knows, Raimi could have something insane up his sleeve just have to wait and see it.
I am too looking forward to Spidey 3 been enjoying the hell out the first two and the third Im sure will be quite the shine to the series.

I am pretty sure thats the plans for it, I havent even seen Eddie Brock listed in the cast of characters as of yet leaving him out severely. Trust me, I want Venom too along with Carnage would be wicked cool, buuut Im not sure if we'll get them. Who knows what Raimi has planned for the third instalment as a whole. I don't really expect alot out of x-3. it looks like it's just going to be a bunch of high powered mutant attacks combined with insane special effects to show huge explosions and psycho fighting. the only thing i really want to see is jean grey go phoenix and like annihilate things. shadowcat has a boring power and so does angel, but beast should be an interesting addition. though nightcrawler's the cooler blue fur guy.

Sounds just like what I'd like to watch tonight... to bad the Greek title could be anything from "Mr.Vengeance" to "Ruy" to "Sex, Drugs and the worst abduction evah!!1!1!1!!" :notrust
P.S.: Your VG cats rule as always :thumbs :amuse
Interesting, I'll check that out. Thanks, Calibur.
After you do, do you mind writting something about how you related to the main character sharing a main characteristic? I bet you'd be the best at understanding that part of him (though the movie could be structured so as for us hearing people to understand him, which would complicate things to no end (I wonder if it'd work too). Still, I'm curious (like cats are) :tem
Anyway, back on topic. While on holidays in Leonidion I got some dozens of movies from my dad (movies found in newspapers and the such). Among them was "Good Will Hunting" which I thought to be an entirely different movie, still got positively surprised :amuse
It's about a very smart young man, Will Hunting, who's actually a math wiz and probably has Shikamaru level IQ. Will, has had a rough childhood, he is an orphan who has had a number of foster famillies, though he didn't root in anyone of them. The movie is about Will and how he evolves from a smart ass slug to a gracious genius butterfly. Or something a lot less poetic, still full of greatness! This movie will be my top favorite for a long while :tem Some of the most noteworthy parts for me are Will's meetings with his psychiatrist, Sean, and the way they affect each other :amuse

Maybe I'll go and watch Fearless by Jet Li. Also the strange thing, Memoirs of Geisha is banned in China when two of the main characters in that movie are actually chinese themselves. I haven't watched the movie yet but I can tell you this: The Chinese goverment is all about control. They want to control the flow of information and prevent their people from coming to contact with foreign culture and "dangerous" ideas and ideals. Kind of like the ancient Spartans who didn't want their people to see the outside world in fear that they'd turn their back to that militaristic monster ancient Sparta was.
As for DZ, well, I didn't read "Fustle" at first, rather "Fu Hustle"... I guess it's true, the brain work in a way that you can read a piece of text even when the words are scrambled.

The second is Seven Samurai or if I'm not mistaken Shichi-nin no samurai. Read about it here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047478/

I have just seen a most brilliant documentary. It's called Dogtown and Z-Boys. It's about skateboarding.
Now, I am by no means into skateboarding. Never been interested in the thing. But I saw, by chance, this documentary about the birth of modern skateboarding, as told by one of the originals and by God, is it something everyone ought to watch.
It has (pretty much by accident) several layers of meaning. It can be viewed as a simple tribute to skateboarding, or as a darn accurate commentary of the human condition. It's like a microcosm of society - and that is both celebratory and cautionary. People rise to the challenge, make something of themelselves. As well, people are losers and live really lame, loser lives.
I highly recommend this dvd. Even if you're not into skateboading, you'll appreciate the historical relevance and the vibrant characters. It's like Kishimoto on speed.

Okay. I made a transript of the X Men trailer. This is for Ken chan and Hermy. ^^
X MEN: THE LAST STAND TRAILER
Scene: White House is shown, and camera moves inside the hallways, and in the background, the President speaks.
President: On account with principle, I cant negotiate with these people.
Scene: You see the President talking to someone. Probably an official of the White House.
Official guy: Well then, you know what needs to be done.
Scene fades to the 20th Century Fox Logo then to a scene on the countryside? An armoured truck follows two black cars. Seems to be the Presidents.
Then the scene shows Mystique, both hands shackled and tied to the ceiling above her. She just looks straight ahead. *Dude, she looks freaky*
Scene then changes to Magneto talking to the Brotherhood. Pyro is standing next to him.
Magneto: Make no mistake, my brothers. (he says this while the scene changes)
Scene moves to Angel looking out the window, someone behind him. O.o

Beast: Theyre calling it a Cure.
Scene moves to the X Mansion/Institute, and Ororos talking.
Ororo (background, Prof. X is shown *listening to her*): Theres nothing to cure. (Scene: Ororo talking, looking really mad, Rogue is next to her) Nothing is wrong with any of us, for that matter.
Scene changes to outside. Prof. X is there, looking ahead at Storm, whos looking towards the stormy skies.
Prof. X: You, of all people, know how fast the weather can change. (in the scene where he is talking to her)
Scene changes to Magneto, using his power to
make the cars jump around
*o_O I suck at explaining things* then changes again to Mystique (who seems to have escaped).
Magneto (background): Did you find what you were looking for?
Mystique: The source of the cure is a mutant. *shes hot O_O*
Scene changes to a bald mutant, lying on a metal table, whatever.
Callisto *to Magnetooorz*: more powerful than you.
Scene: Magneto looking either scared or displeased about that fact. Or even both. The scene then moves to
the water exploding. O.O Cyclops falls, to the ground, then scene moves to Cyclops taking his glasses of to let out a strong beam.
Scene changes to Ororo and Logan. Storm looks like shes using her powere to move...something. Air? Or maybe the sea?! *thinks of Moses* XD LOL.
Scene changes to Logan looking at Cyclops glasses, which is in mid-air. Scene then moves to Ororo.
Storm (screaming): Logan!!
Scene moves to Ororo over a body. Then to Logan.
Logan (looking at the body): Jean
Scene changes to Jean lying down. Her head connected to wires
or something. Prof. X has his hands over the sides of her head. Probaly reading her mind.
Prof. X (background): Something woke her.
Scene moves to Logan looking at Jeans body, then to Prof. X talking.
Prof. X: But she has to be controlled.
Scene changes to Angel strapped down. Nurses around him. Holding an injection, which I believe is the cure. Logan talks in the background.
Logan (background): You know, sometimes when you cage the beast
Scene is with Angel struggling.
Angel: I cant do this.
Scene shifts back to Logan talking.
Logan (continuing from what he was saying earlier):
the beast gets angry.
Scene moves swiftly to Jean catching hold of Logans arms. *scared me again. I hate these fast stuff* Logan is holding her face, then another scene where Logan hits the wall, real hard.
Scene goes to Angel. He uses his wings to snap the stuff binding him down.
Back to Jean. She uses her powers to break down the doors.
Angel crashes through the windows. *OMIFUCKINGGOSH. FRIKKIN AWESOME* and flies!!!!! XD
Scene shifts to Prof. X, Ororo and Logan.

Scene changes to Logan, talking to the teens. Scene then changes to various clips of explosion, Kitty, and stuff.
Logan: She might not come home. *talking about Jean* Are you ready for that??
Scene: Some kind of memorial. Whos? I dont know. But theres a lot of speculations which Id rather not mention. Scene shifts back to Bobby.
Bobby: Were not kids anymore.
Scene: Memorial. Various X Men sitting. The scene goes to Logan and Rogue.
Logan: Hey, Im not your father. (scene changes to the Blackbird flying, then to Bobby inside the Blackbird) If you want to go, be sure its what you want.
Scene changes to Brotherhood, then to Logans claws, then to Jean. *@_@ DUDE, JEAN!*
Ororo (background): Its time we make our choice. (scene: X men, all lined up in the streets. Preparing for the fight. Then back to Ororo talking)
Ororo: If youre with us, then be with us.
Scene: Action filled. XD WOOOOOHOO!! People jumping around. Storm using her powers. OMIGOD> Theyre fighting with humans. AESOME! Logan slashes through this human guy.
Beast jumps out of nowhere. Magneto using his powers. Bridge collapses. The President is shown. He stands up in worry. Probably watching the news of what was going on.
Magneto (background): They wish to cure us. (scene: exploding stuff. Juggernaut chasing Kitty, who is going through walls. Juggernaut is only bashing through them. @_@)
Scene moves back to Magneto.
Magneto: But I say we are the cure!
Scene: One Brotherhood, known as Quill, shows his power to Pyro. Mystique attacks someone. Ororo using her poweres. Then Prof. X sitting in his chair, worried, and everything around him is flying. We see someones legs. I think theyre Jeans and those flying stuff is her doing.

Jean:
Kill me.
Scene changes to the X Men 3: The Last Stand.
WHEEEEE! FUKCING AWESOME!!

March 08, 2006, 01:23 AM
This is for you GK!! ;)
From Fox Searchlight Pictures website, http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/nwnd/
For as long as humanity has existed, there have been "Others" among us; Witches, Vampires and Shape-Shifters who are soldiers in the eternal war between Light and Dark.
Light Others protect mankind from Dark Others, who plague and torture humans.
Over 1000-years ago a truce was struck between Gesser, Lord of the Light, and Zavulon, General of Darkness. They agreed that no one could be forced to good or evil, people must choose freely for themselves. To uphold this truce, each side established underground forces; the soldiers of the Light would be called Night Watch, making sure Dark Others obeyed the truce. And the soldiers of Darkness would be called Day Watch, to do the same.
Ancient prophecy foretells that one day the Great One will arrive who can end the threat of an apocalyptic battle between Light and Dark Others. That day has come, and the Great One, once he or she is identified, must choose whether to destroy the light within or battle the surrounding darkness. This choice will reveal mankind's destiny.
1992:
Anton Gordesky, a broken-hearted man, desperate to win back his fiancée, seeks out the black magic services of a witch. This Dark Other, about to use her magic for evil, is arrested by the Night Watch moments before for completing her spell. The cataclysmic event awakens Anton to discover that he is an Other. Now he must choose whether to become a protector of light or warrior of darkness.
Today:
Somewhere on the streets of Moscow the "Great One" wanders, oblivious to his or her powers. Anton, along with his Night Watch team, race to find and protect the Great One from Zavulon and his Day Watch vampires who seek to plunge the world into darkness. Whoever reaches the Great One first will hold the balance of power in their hands and control the fate of humanity.
NIGHT WATCH (NOCHNOI DOZOR) is the first installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling Russian sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko (which also includes Day Watch and Dusk Watch). This visionary horror fantasy film features a dazzling mix of mind-blowing effects, adrenaline-fuelled action and suspenseful terror.
NIGHT WATCH (NOCHNOI DOZOR) was an instant smash hit in its native Russia when it was released in July 2004 shattering all previous box office records. Made for a mere $4 million, the film surpassed both LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING and SPIDER-MAN 2 at the Russian box office. Internationally acclaimed, it was also Russia's contender for the 2004 foreign language Oscar® award.

I think that's the memorial for Jean in the beginning of the movie ( to remind the viewer of what happened in part 2 ) and they just put it at that part of the trailer to look interesting
Gold Knight
March 08, 2006, 09:27 PM
My hopes for X-Men did increase with that trailer, but I'm still scared about the director change.
Still, it'll be good to see the ol' Canucklehead in action again. Wonder if Hugh Jackman will use Wolverine's famous line, ""I'm the best there is at what I do and what I do best isn't very nice" at some point in this one.

I was quite happy with his "bub" bits. >_>
But that line will just kill me to pieces! In a good way! XD
I don't know. I'm not at all bothered with the change anymore...I'll just keep my hopes low for a moment unitl the movie comes out. Which is hard since I'm too excited about it. XD
I'm just happy there are mroe Storm scenes in this one. I want to see developments in her character since there wasn't much in the last two movies. Heck, the last two had only Wolvy-history-scenes. *which is not bad, really :love*
All in all, I know I'm definitely watching it in the big screen. >_> I rarely do that. I wish I saw Howl's Moving Castle and Corpse Bride at the cinemas. I jsut got them off the net. >_<

i just saw Akasun's thread about movies, and yes its one of the worlds best pass time activities but everything has its pros and cons. as the subject title suggest i just wanted to know the WORST FILMS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN???
it can be OLD and NEW and if possible give a quick point (please nothing very long) why you would place that movie here.
i guess i'll start
1. Street fighter the movie..... reasons are to obvious, if not, then i dont know what to say about that
2. scoopy doo the movie.... if ur over 9years of age then it would best for you to jump over a bridge rather then watch this. poor acting, terrible plot less narrtive, and those are the good points!!!
3. mortal kombat 2..... reasons: its a sequel (Sequels are known to being crap in comparison to the original, not always tho), worst acting possible, generally nothing special as it was like a repeat of the 1st, but the icing on the cake came from the ending.
(these are old films, so i hope you guys will provide a nice balance of old and new)
although i can explain in great detail why i didnt like each one i want to keep this short and simple...please keep it short and sweet
i look forward to seeing you WORST FILMS EVER :amuse

Bram Stoker's Way of the Vampire :loool
A... "movie" based on a short story by Bram Stoker, featuring the worst cast ever, with mediocre acting skills featured ONLY by the main character. I bet if the people of this forum met in some place we could try to make a short movie out of some Naruto chapters and it'd be worth an Oscar compared to this! :eyeroll
Churchil: The Hollywood Years
Supposedly mimicking "The Aeroplane" or Leslie Nielsen's insane comedies, this one falls flat on its behind trying to do so. I'll also add that I fell asleep watching the movie, something that happens as often as an eclipse :eyeroll

Heh, haven't heard of these ones either, but they do sound like bad B-movies to me too.
As for Daredevil, I actually liked it, it was pretty faithful to the original story and I thought it was pretty entertaining. But oh well, that's just me I guess. I rank Hulk as more of a stinker.

March 23, 2006, 08:22 PM
i must agree with you goldknight, that hulk was a lot more of a stinker then daredevil, but honestly i dont know how u could have liked that film, esp. after ben's acting, major cheesyness there.
did any1 else notice in hulk, the sfx of the big lovable green monster quality decreases as the film goes on. if u didnt notice, at the beginning hulk looks nice as, but then look at when is running from the fighter planes, at some points we can see through him, and as the film goes on from there it gets worse and worse.
on the notion of marval, i personally aint a fan of most marvel adapted films.
xman i didnt like very much due to how the characters are all weak ones in comparison to comic, but i just hated more then anything those cheesy 1 liners.
elektra actually put me to sleep
fantasic four was a bore
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was action filled but there was so much wrong with it.
The Punisher didnt even do so well in cinema for obvious reasons, didnt like it myself, although the game is wicked.
spiderman wasnt so bad but could have been better.
in future i think we will see more being joined to this list, as there more marvels in production. such as sorry to say, but a daredevil 2 is in production along with iron man, doctor strange, captain america, deathlok, the sub-mariner, luke cage, and werewolf by night.
however on a positive side, marvel have made a great film, i.e. Blade. but this thread is about worset films.
can you guys think of anymore really terriable films, the more popular and mainstream the better
p.s. my partner told me to add naruto :narsengan to this list. :kislide i was left speechless

Dunno what you are talking about, Punisher was the greatest comedy I saw that year. :D
Gold Knight
March 23, 2006, 09:07 PM
Well, bear in mind I'm a little luckier than most because I am deaf - so "bad acting" is something I don't notice most of the time. I thought Ben Affleck looked like a superhero, and he moved around well enough that he was a believable Daredevil visually.
So that being said, I also still have to actually enjoy watching the characters and the story, and I didn't in Hulk.
As for the other Marvel films, so far I think Blade, Spider-Man and X-Men movies are definitely good films. I'll agree that all of them do have some flaws, but that usually comes from lack of budget or time sometimes (ie. X-Men or Fantastic Four) or pressure to meet up to fans' standards. But I wouldn't call any of them "worst movies in the world," except maybe Hulk.
I also happen to think DC's Batman Begins movie was one of the best comic book adaptations so far.
By the way, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen isn't a Marvel film.

dont get me wrong, i aint placing, such films as xmen, spiderman, punisher, fantastic4 in this thread to say they are worst movie etc etc, but i added them here mainly as a sub-topic to say that after all the hype they got i was somewhat disappointed at the end product. but never the less watchable. apologies for not making that clear first time round.
but in my opinion such films as daredevil, hulk and elektra do belong in this thread. [br]Posted at: 24-03-2006, 00:27:48_________________________________________________list of so far Worst Movies Ever by the MH puplic

Move Hulk up to ummm say 5. I hated the movie. I mean the hulk is about destroying things and they tried to make it into a drama almost. Blah is all I can say for it. But I do have to add that I liked the daredevil movie...and the directors cut did make it better in my opinion.
Just remembered a bad one...Driven I did not like that one. Bad acting and dumb story = bad movie.

Out of that list, I've seen Street Fighter the Movie, Scooby Doo, and Spawn (well, a bit of it). Thank goodness I stayed away from Dungeons & Dragons, Daredevil, The Hulk, and Elektra. I thought they'll suck. I'm definitely not planning to see Ultra Violet (it's still showing in theatres in my country. I'm surprised to see Memoirs of a Geisha there. I haven't seen the movie but I like the novel a lot.
I've seen several bad movies though I'm not really a movie-watching sort of person; I've missed a lot of the more recent releases. One really bad movie that I remember is Batman and Robin. In my opinion, it's the worst out of the 4 Batman movies (thank goodness Batman Begins was much, MUCH better) and I'm not even a Batman aficionado to begin with. It's too corny, especially with Arrhnowld around. Doom (starring The Rock) is another stinker I've seen in recent history. I can't believe I allowed my younger brother to drag me to watch that pile of filth. I know it was supposed to be a homage to the game but couldn't the director leave out the 1st person sequence around the latter part of the movie? The movie was mostly shot in the 3rd person view then after the hero regains his consciousness due to events in the cliched plot, it's 1st person now?!
There are definitely others that I could add but that's it for now. I'm also sure that there are others that are as bad or worse than the ones already listed that I am thankful to NOT have seen. As a final note, does anyone else notice that a lot of bad films are adaptations?

About Memoirs of a Geisha:
There are a number of reasons why I dislike that movie.
Most of the actors have a terrible accent, it's a real pain listening to that. The movie is full of cliches: sometimes you get the impression that at every corner in Japan there's a folk-dance group (which was certainly not the case). The Westerners (Americans in this case) are portrayed as primitive idiots drinking and f***ing all the time. The whole Geisha trade is portrayed incorrectly to a certain extent. First they tell us that Geishas are not prostitutes (correct) and the next moment the main character's virginity is sold to the highest bidder. The movie is full of cheesy dialogues and stupid-onliners. No wonder the Japanese complained that their whole culture is portrayed incorrectly. Ironically the Chinese actors playing the lead roles in the movie were attacked by their own people for acting as Japanese *g*
In the end it's just another "poor but beautiful girl turns into a hooker" story. :D
Sorry for the rant. Please feel free to disagree with me :)

Our country produces a lot of trash movies. :darn
"There's this movie, during the last scene:
The hero has only one bullet left in his gun, but still have two enemies left...
guess what? He took out his jungle knife and place it in front of the barrel...
and voila... the bullet splits into two...both of his enemies were killed.
Yaay! The hero saves the day! The End! :p
BTW: Most Film Critics judged Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) as the worst movie of all time! Directed by Edward D. Wood Jr.
Although, most film enthusiasts do study this film.
Well, mine includes: Superman 4, Batman 3 & 4, Spawn, Star Wars Prequels (they could have done more: in terms of acting and plot)

Matt Vaughn dropped off a long time ago. Brett Ratner is the new director. The movie is gonna be amazing. Danger Room. Sentinals. Juggernaut!
I dont think we'll see Venom in Spidey 3, but most likely Eddie Brock being foiled by Black Costume Spider-Man then Spidey losaing the Black Costume at the end of the movie followed by a cliffhanger where venom makes an appearance before the end credits role. Hopefully Topher Grace is play Kletus Cassidy (Carnage) instead of Eddie Brock. That would be cooler!

I wouldn't mind a cast change that much, actually. I knew it was inevitable. Anyway, look at all the different Supermen and Batmans there's been, didn't hurt the story itself. It might take some using but who knows, the next Spider-Man cast might be even better.

Yeah, Eddie Brock's a workout freak. But it might be that they wanted to make it seem even more dramatic when he makes the transformation.
But if you want to see a Eddie Brock lookalike, google Howie Long sometimes. He would have been perfect XD

I didn't like it. It's the typical pseudo-philosophical trash-talk like in the matrix-movies and I always had the impression that there's always a raised index-finger trying to tell you what is right and wrong. Very much in your face, that is.
Blowing up the parliament is pretty stupid idea to fight a dictatorship.
I can understand why Alan Moore (the author of the comic) doesn't want to have anything to do with that movie.
The special effects are of course top-notch and there are quite a few scenes that look awesome. They should have left out the last matrix-like martial-arts fight though. Looks totally stupid in that film.
The only really good thing about that movie is Natalie Portman. I think she looks awesome with short hair. :D
Gold Knight

Alan Moore never wants anything to do with movies based on his work, though. It's like he's saying "you guys will suck, I wash my hands of it." No support whatsoever right from the set-go.
He's kind of anti-social to begin with ( though he definitely is one of the best comic book writers of all time )

Are you sure it's a Tarantino movie? Both his new movies are being shot right now and it will take some time until those are out (Grind House, Inglorious Bastards).
Maybe it's an old movie like Reservoir Dogs? :D

No... The name of the movie is HOSTEL...
I really don't know if it was directed by Tarantino or produced, but in the credits appers 'A Quentin Tarantino Film'.
You really haven't heard of it? :blink Well, in Latin America is making problems with the censors because of the high content of violece (in Mexico, it got a D rating, that means 21+)

imagine a really big spaceship. imagine that it takes a lot of passengers. it is in fact a cruiseship on
the way to neptune for some reason. now think of titanic. you all understand what happens to the
big spaceship. then people try to survive by going into the lifepods. and they do. there are a total
of eight people in that lifepod. and then one of them gets murdered. and then another. and then you get to know
that the exploding ship was sabotaged. and then another one dies. and then you get to know that the blind guy isnt blind and he is the murderer........................... worst movie ever? yeah im pretty sure it is.

My vote goes to the following movies: -
1. The Brady Bunch movie - I was cringing thru the whole thing. The video was picked by a fren. Needless to say, that was the last time we let her pick the movie.
2. Titanic - I'm sure a lot of ppl would disagree but if u've had to bear with a Titanic fan for a fren (thankfully a different fren fron No.1 above) and after having to hear the sound track and the phrase "You jump I jump" over and over and over again for far too many times, u'll understand why I've voted for this movie. :p

Please feel free to disagree with me :)
i thought the movie sucked not for the reasons you gave, but because it totally ruined and misrepresented the actual story i.e. the book. It is true that the book was written by an american male, but he did have a japanese woman who was once a geisha read it and help him with the areas that he got wrong. If you didn't hate it all that much i suggest reading the book. soooo much better, and it lacked the "American movie makers banking off Japanese culture which they don't get" thing. I'm no expert on Japanese culture either, but had no problem at all with the book. I actually thought it was very good to read. The movie pissed me off though.

[color=green][font=tahoma]I don't remember my previous worst movies but I still remember some of them: Spawn (Damn, my friend watches that movie EVERY MORNING before school for the whole year in that big fat lazer disc), Mortal Kombat 2, Street Fighter, The Matrix Revolutions (that was just so pathetic and sucky, in has instantly turned into a DBZ fight scene).
About Daredevil, I think it's pretty cool (especially the DC). The character was played very well and I really thought he was the DD himself. Elektra was kinda annoying and bad (she has this 6th sense and looked powerful in that movie, but meaningless in DD).
@Okyatoks, How can that be a bad movie, that's very interesting, putting a jungle knife to split bullets WOOOO!!! Don't try that at home kids!
I tried my best to watch all planet of the apes (classic) but I nearly fell asleep in all of them. Narnia was also good (the old and new). I have some movies I would've rated worst but I still find interesting such as those of "Freddy got fingered" to "American Pie series" and other comedies based on sex is just getting too old! I prefer those "nosebleed" guys instead, they're a lot more funny and they're being used in chinese movies as well!

oh dude, i had managed to block that movie from my memory but now it all came screaming back to me..
hell yeah that one sucks!
why they're often crap? my guess because they always change the story. they only use the title from the game
and then they make up all the other crap. if they could for once stick to the original story from the game then the movie should be just as good... am i wrong?

i believe it's because of the book publicity and all those controversial..
the movie is really disappointing in comparison to the book...
but.. it was alright.. not really that disappointing to me coz i read the book almost 2 years ago..
kinda forgot the stuffs...
there's this indian guy sitting beside me..
and during one scene *see spoiler* he clenched his fist in front of his mouth and he almost shouted..
"o my god..o my god..THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVAH MAN!! o my goood!!"
and for the rest of the movie.. he was pretty much over-excited...
the scene where Remi was poisoned by someone.. he died.. then the camera turned to the killer who is actually Leigh Teabing.. the guy freaked out when he saw that the actual bad guy is Leigh...
Have you guys ever seen The Pledge? Jack Nicholson starred in it...
it was a "supposed to be" a memorable movie for me.. coz i watched it with my 1st girlfriend on my 1st date ever...
that is one worst of the worst movie... worst plot, boring to the end, worst ending...
Jack nicholson is a retiring detective..
but his last case.. a girl was murdered after given a porcupine-shaped cake by someone..
then he made a pledge to his parents to catch him no matter what..
but he retired..
then he met an abused lady and her kid..
the abused lady ran away from her husband..
he then take her away..
they had sex (old people sex alert!)
and one day the kid receive the porcupine-shaped cake..
so he thought of setting the kid as a bait..
he called backups..all the forces.. to ambush the killer..
but he didn't let the mother knew about it..
so on the day..one of the police accidentally let it slip to the mother..
she was angry to jack for letting it happen.. and he took the kid away..
the police is still waiting if the killer would come...
but after several hours of waiting, he didn't come..
so the cops all go back home.. and said that they shouldn't trust the old man anymore..
then when they go home, there's a scene where nearby there's a car accident..
The killer was actually killed in that accident.. but nobody knows about that..
so jack nicholson..everybody left him, not being able to catch the killer etc..

I've heard of it, there was a trailor for it before my friends and I saw "Final Destination 3" (which was awful) and it seems a little different for him. But then he did come up with "Kill Bill" and "Pulp Fiction"...
But still, it looks really strange O.O
