Marine Vice-Admiral with the fist of love

After escaping from Enies Lobby on their miracle ship Merry Go, the Mugiwaras have finally said their goodbye to their precious nakama. Now, they are back in Water 7, recuperating from their earlier fights. The Galley-La Company and residents are busy repairing the aftermath of the Aqua Laguna that hit the town. The 200 million shipment had came and Franky shared his dream of building his 'Dream Ship' and entrusting it to the Mugiwaras. Meanwhile, a Marine warship was sighted and Garp, the Vice Admiral has landed on the island with his troops. He barged into the temporary headquarters where the Mugiwaras are residing and awoke the sleeping Luffy with a huge punch to his head. And he turned out to be no other than Luffy's Grandpa.

Well, Zoro is getting lost as usual :XD and I never thought Garp was his grandpa, hadn't he met Garp in his previous adventure before? And SleepEating, definitely something only Luffy will come up with. :amuse Can't wait to see their new ship!

I'm eagerly waiting for the next ep, pushed by viewing this ep I reread the chaps about what will happen next. And I found that the new Luffy ability was explained in a slightly different way/manner.

Yeah, great ep, as they all are. Garp had kinda a generic voice, and his scar was less obvious, but still awesome.

Episode 315 is out as well. You can go to stormberry and download softsubs to use on your RAW (personally I do it since watching it online on Stormberry is really slow for me).

Nothing happened in this episode. Still interesting though with Aoikij and all. And all the information we got about Vegapunk (or is it Begabank?). I wonder if they'll get to have the sea stones around their ship in their future. With Franky it's not impossible.

Next episode looks interesting. Seeing Shanks finally metting White beard will be incredible.

Ahhhh!! A filler episode!!!! :XD

Kinda remind me of the previous filler episode in the early part about a lil girl and some old dragon dying. but getting to see Robin's 'searching' technique is pretty cool. :D well, hope that they get back to the storyline again.

Well it was good, I was positively suprised by the slow working of BB's dark matter attacks. The only thing I regretted was: ace's last attack, I kinda expected more the manga fire ball (like goku spirit ball)

Apparently Brook's voice actor is Yuichi Nagashima. He voiced Brook in One Piece Gear Spirit (DS game) so it's likely he'll do the voice in the anime.

I looked it up and it said he did (among MANY other things) Jaken in Inuyasha. I can't really imagine Jaken's voice w/ Brooke's body, but I suppose he'll change it up a bit. Guess we'll hafta wait and see.

So what do you guys say about the last chapter?
Things are getting heaten up so soon! Though I did look forward to this arc for 2 main reasons - Franky and Sunny-go, wanted to see a bit more of those 2 new nakamas before thriller bark, and so far, it's up to my expectations. =D

Well, I think it was quite okay, at the kind of level a filler arc episode should be at. Franky's fight was really enjoyable and I like it that the opponents weren't as weak as I thought they'd be.

I also hope to see some 100.000.000 beli chain fighting action from Puzzle/Pazul next episode.

I don't know.. For some reason, Puzzle having 100m belli bounty pisses me off. I mean, to get 100m you should be such a big hotshot, and he isn't.. It doesnt matter only your strength, you should've proven to be a mighty threat to get such a big amount, and it makes luffy's former bounty look less meaningful.

That's the exact reason I want to see what he can do. I mean, there must be at least some reason that other pirate ships ran away in fear when they saw the Phoenix flag right? I really do hope that he will prove himself powerful, and know what he did to earn that bounty. Plus, Eiichiro Oda himself is helping them with this arc right? I don't think he'd give Puzzle that big of a bounty for no reason.

Oda aint helping with the plot of this arc. He just helped design some characters from what I understood. So don't expect any Oda brilliancy in this arc.. ;)

Right, my bad. But I still want some backstory on how he became that big a threat for the world government, because if he turns out to be just a ordinary but strong pirate, (which I still want proof of as well) I think it really does insult the whole Straw Hat crew's bounties.

Okay, so 331 is to me the most entertaining yet in this arc with humor, action and weird fighting styles (Luffy fighting as well). Is it just me that finds that little girl extremely annoying?

Lil is awesome! She's the only smart Acchino we've seen so far! And Sanji's bounty was so low because it was his first, it's actually higher then Zoro's first bounty. And I think that the fact that Puzzle (that's the proper romaji, it's on his Wanted poster) has such a high bounty is due to the fact that he never lost a fight, he always got back up. A pirate that powerful would be a pretty big threat for the World Government.

I'm not very fond of Don Acchino's Devil Fruit power, though. It seems too much like Ace's. And nobody say "But Ace's is a Logia, this is a Paramecia!" because I know that, but I still don't like the similarity much. On the other hand, this episode was awesome. Jiro seems more and more like younger Luffy. Only a bit smarter. And Zoro and Sanji fighting was as hilarious as always. I also loved how Robin used Ril to get cola for Franky. She really IS the smart one. Chopper's smart but naive, Nami's smart but greedy/temperamental, and the rest are idiots. I can't wait for the next episode, I'm willing to bet things will start to heat up.

Well yeah, I agree that it's pretty similar to Ace's power, but not too similar. While this guy controls his body heat, Ace controls fire, which is definitely hot, but not heat itself. The biggest difference I suppose is that Don's heat wave would send you flying a bit, since it's just hot air forced against you while Ace, doing the same move, would turn you into ashes. That's why Don Acchino is just a (relatively) weak wannabe of Ace.

On another note: finally, the title of the next episode speaks for some Puzzle action and possible backstory.

Well.. I felt the same way about Don Acchino's DF power, but as you said, it's a paramecia, so it's like a weaker ver. than ace's logia fruit. I wonder how Luffy's rubber body will react to extreme heat (if i'm not mistaken, rubber is pretty immune to heat.. :s unless it's like extreme extreme heat.. :s luffy's DF sure is awesome :D ).
I wonder what kind of attacks can Acchino use with this DF other then simply heating up and touching someone.. :o

I believe Don Acchino can shoot heat-waves at people. Waves of hot air. Also, since he thought he was hot enough (does it feel wrong to be talking about a man as "hot" to anyone else?) to melt Zoro's swords, I'd say he's probably hot enough to at least burn Luffy a bit, even though Luffy's rubber. This should be an interesting fight. And Luckas, what do you have against the Ice Hunter arc? I know it's not as interesting as Thriller Bark, but it's pretty good, as filler goes. It's certainly better then the filler between Skypiea and Water 7. That filler BUTCHERED the hilarious-in-the-manga Davy Back Fight.

If I remember right basically the only One Piece filler I watched was that with the Dragon and the little girl. Generally speaking I prefer the manga over the anime, probably this the reason I didn't like much this.

About clichè, I meant that you could imagine what will happen next easily, for example I think the exchange/fight between the 2 brothers and Luffy was easily predictable and the same was for the behavior of Sanji with the female enemy.
In more general terms, because this is a filler the authors can't really develop the characters or change anything of important, so even before the arc starts you already know that the Strawhats will fight enemies weaker than them, whom for some twist or because of the setting will get the advantage, but in the end they will be totally owned. For these reasons if the new characters aren't very interesting or the plot hasn't some peculiar elements, then the development of the plot of the filler could be considered predictable, imho.
But you should consider that I like the manga more than the anime.
I hope I made myself a little clearer :)

First of all, It's ok. Nothing to be sorry about. Kinda figured that you misunderstood my question.. So it's ok.. ;)
And I know exactly what you mean by that.. As you said, it's a filler, so they can not develop and twist the plot or w/e, but they can make it thrilling if they use their creativity to the max, and I think they're doing quite the good job for now relativly to the other fillers..
Well.. I like the manga more than the anime because it's filler free, but generally, Anime is more appealing to me.. So I always watch the anime before I read the manga of a series.

Luffy finally defeated Don Appachino! (After much whacking here and there, I don't recall any 'blood' scene from any of the fights; guess that shows how weak the family was though Luffy used 2nd Gear but he didn't get exhausted after using it. hmm..) And the crew managed to get the flag back to the ship in time.

So wads next? another filler?

Gah, these type of filler episodes really take a looooong time to be subbed but I finally watch it yesterday and pretty funny I guess.. Chopperman's special attack.. :lmao but its a nice gag once in a while though I can imagine how Onigiri Zorokiller came abt.. Luffy Bomber was a damn classic! Reminded me of Bomberman, used to love playing that wen I was a kid..

Brook's voice isn't at all like I thought it would be. However, it is still extremely awesome. Especially his laugh, they got that PERFECTLY. I can't wait to hear his serious moments, like when he fights Ryuma.

I agree the voice wasn't like expected, yet still in the same way if you know what I mean. It has this jolly, goofy touch to it that fits Brooke perfectly, and like Imitorar said, his laugh is spot on.

Now, the Ice Hunter was good for a filler but man, it's always as great a feeling to come back to the main story after a filler arc. :D

Yeah, I completely agree. Sure, Oda has told them to have fun when they make the series and, I don't know, maybe they find gear 2nd extremely hilarious to animate, but it's still a real lack of creativity.

They're also going to use Gear 2nd in the 9th movie. They SERIOUSLY need to stop this, because unlike them, Oda is being pretty careful not to overuse Gear Second. Seriously, at least use Gear 3rd once in a while. Gear 3rd seems to get no love, except maybe from Oda. And Gear 3rd against Don Acchino would've been awesome.

Did I say 3rd? I meant they were going to use Gear 2nd in the movie. You can see Luffy using it for a second or two in one of the promo's and it's clearly Gear 2nd. And they ARE changing the plot of the Drum Island arc alot. No Vivi, Robin and Franky are in it, Wapol's brother is in it, Oz may be in it, or at least, some giant thing's shadow. Either way, it's not sticking to the canon of that arc at all. But that's not for this thread, anyway.

Yea, that's really weird.. O_o.. Maybe it's two movies in one? We didn't see robin/franky exactly in drum island. They might be part of the movie though.. And I know that the details have changed.. >< It's gonna be worse than a Naruto movie! ;)

Anyways, next chapter seems to be still "only" a chilling chapter, and I assume that the chapter afterwards will be the chapter that they see perona's ghost and nami, ussop and chopper getting on TB.

Yeah, I think they're trying to slow the pace down until the Thriller Bark ark finishes in the manga. That's why this week they made the first half of the episode filler. And because the Ice Hunters arc beginning was the what really happened for the first third of that chapter. And since this went through chapter 442, you're right, next episode will probably just be chapter 443. Which means it will end with Brook going onto Thriller Bark. Not that much content, but it's gonna be great seeing the hilarity of that chapter animated.

Yes.. And I kinda liked the filler meterial, coz it fills up the things that the manga is missing - the daily life of the crew, and showing off with their new ship, which is cool! :D Thousand Sunny is really amazing!

Yeah, I saw that too. I have to admit, I prefer gear 2nd to gear 3rd, but both of them should be Luffy's trump cards. Sure, it's great that they care about the fans but really, the fans they please by overusing gear 2nd are the 10-year old boys watching the dub and think anime is all about extreme fighting, coolboy (annoying) voices and Kame Hame Ha's. No offense to those who actually like that the animators are tearing the coolness of the move apart, but that's my opinion.

I'm amazed they didn't have Chopperman go monster form.

the crew really reminds me of a big family with their antics. With Zoro and Robin being the cool & calm grandparents, Sanji & Nami are the parents, Franky is the eldest son and Usopp, Luffy & Chopper are the kids messing around. :XD

But their reactions to Brooke was priceless. Only Robin was spared that 'eyeballs rolled to the backp' response.

I don't mind the change in color for luffy's shirt. and robin looks nice in her purple stuff.
when are we ever going to see zoro, usopp and sanji change from their usual clothes?

later on in this arc chopper and ussop are supposed to wear different outfits, and I guess it's the same with zoro&sanji?

Oh man.. Brooke's voice actor is beyond amazing. I love the laughter, and the serious tone in his voice during his monologues reminds me of far darker anime's than OP which tends to be more light-hearted. They really REALLY did an amazing job on his VA, I am very impressed.

No, it wasn't. The whole episode until the storm that blows them into the Florian Triangle was (hilarious) anime filler. They're probably gonna keep dragging things out so that an episode covers about a chapter's worth of material until the manga finishes Thriller Bark. Which should be in about a month, I think.

Yea.. It happens quite a lot in animes. To extend the episode they use canon filler meterial. A good example will be Naruto which overuses it alot, and they also tend to strecth the canon plot just to buy time. So we're good off here. =D A slight touch there and there, but still a good result! :D

Eh, they overdid the fanservice. Seriously, that was pushing it. Oda just shows the top of the breasts, but this episode... Though I wish they would give Robin some fanservice too. Instantz's quality isn't that good, even in HD. Anime Softsubs (animesoftsubs.com) and Vegapunk have better quality. The first HD episode was episode 207.

animesoftsubs use VP's raws if I'm not mistaken, which explains their quality. And they only started since episode 32X or even 33X, so getting it from there isn't possible. :s
Same with VP since they started at 294 (as this guy stated), and Kaizoku are only at 235 atm, so I figured Instantz are the only one left.

Instantz started from episode 317 or 318, I can't remember which. Gerusama and ADC-Elites did the episodes between where Kaizoku's releases slowed down (they're back up to speed now, by the way) and where Vegapunk picked up. Their sites are down. zidane, One Piece Line (http://onepieceline.com/) seems to have the episodes you want hosted for DDL. You'd need to register with the site, but that shouldn't be a problem.

The Thriller Bark arc started in episode 337.

one fine episode. cerberus was with them again, then luffy trying to push the zombie back to its grave followed by the 600M beri Jackpot and the appearence of samurai ryuma.
all together with the weak trio adventuring and more or less constantly fearing the zombies, this makes a rather good episode. next is supposed to be better I think?

Anyways, although this episode was great, the previous 2 were better imo. The flow of this episode was too slow for my taste, but I guess that's "normal" since they try and keep the ratio of 1:1 episode/chapter of the anime-manga.

It did say it in the manga, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper heard Ryuma laugh behind them, and thought it was Brook. Also, there wasn't supposed to be much mystery about the Pengaji, you're supposed to realize more or less right off that it's Sanji. Besides, the voice actor will probably change his voice a bit for the penguin. I mean, he also did Eyelash back in Alabasta, if I remember correctly.

yea he did.. but those were just noises, now he'll need to speak. But I do think that the voices should change a bit, after all, there are different throats and voice-strings for each person, so the way the voice is produced should differ. I would be very disappointed if oz will have luffy's untouched voice. With his huge throat and body, it should be a much lower stronger rough tone. That's how i imagine it.
What do you say about moria's voice?
It wasn't like i imagined at all, but unlike brook's case, I don't like it. :s

This episode? The preview was out about a month or so ago. But either way, somebody on Arlong Park mentioned (and had screencaps to prove it) that Toei has censored out quite a bit of stabbing in One Piece. For instance, they never showed Luffy giving himself his scar, and they had Burogey's hands totally covered in wax to hide his hands being impaled by Mr. 3's wax swords on Little Garden. There are other examples too. This is just another instance of it. Eh, I don't know why people are complaining about this, it's not THAT interfering and gratuitous of an edit. Then again, I watched the 4Kids dub...

I watched it yesterday(well sunday at 1) first I tried to watch through keyholetv but it won't working, then in the last 10 mins some guy apforums gave us a url link for our media players...and i have to say the quality was great!!! not HD but you know, same kinda level as you get from watching videos online...

They really dragged the latest episode. I mean, at the moment 1 episode = 1 chapter and I guess that's okay when there's alot of fighting and stuff because then the pace is kinda good anyway, but when there's almost only flashbacks then the epsiode tends to get really boring.

I have no idea whether the 27th was a special day or event, but I do know that they take occasional breaks as to not catch up with the manga.
Many other anime give us a double episode after a break (usually where the first part is just a flashback... but still) while One Piece doesn't really care :)

I feel the exact same way. I used to like the anime alot, but somewhere after Enies Lobby was where it took a wrong turn for some reason. It may be because last arc was a filler and Thriller Bark episodes are just dragged out really badly, but I really don't like the feel that the anime has over it lately. Well I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a somewhat bad filler that I can forget than see one of my favorite manga-arcs in my top 1 favorite manga be dragged out to a piece of no-paced, boring, quirky-voiced crap.

Nevertheless, I rewatched 365 in a "pace and event" point of view and it was actually okay. The main problem is still the voices and the lack of interesting stuff happening. Also, the minute-long scroll of Oz's body at both the beginning and end (as well as realllllly slow and uninteresting scrolling over the KO'd straw hats at the end) makes it seem like nothing has happened in between, leaving overall impression worse.

These two chapters were indeed better than the other recent ones, but as I said before, with the fighting episodes it's pretty okay to drag it out since the pace is still there in the fighting. The docking was great though. Let's hope it will only get better from here on.

After finding out about the pacifista I actually thought that his voice would be more Terminator-like, but i really liked this voice, it seems to fit his personality.

Kuma's voice definitely would fit better for someone like Hawkins or Law, Kuma is a huge tyrant and should have a deeper voice. What about the voice that does fit is the calm and sofisticated sound it has to it, so maybe they went for the "holy, saint"-like characteristic rather than the cold-blooded terminator that he really is.

368 was kinda good. Not quite as dragged out as earlier, thanks to the fighting. I'm beginning to enjoy the anime again. :)

about Kumas voice I have an addditional theory. if you look at it anatomicaly either his vocal cord was messed up or his balls (which would explain his trousers) ... anyway I think it fits him. it's kinda creepy though.
can't wait for the next few chapters ... how do you guess it will go on afterwards? when will we hear whether or not there is filler again?

I guess 10-15 eps to getting to the Shabondy arc, however, OP usually has some post-arc fillers... Sanji cooks, Zoro gets lost, Chopper makes a friend, etc. And they might do a travel filler (though FFR's is filler enough - you hear me animators? haha).

Sorry wing, but One Piece is known to add a lot of filler fights and scenes. I haven't read the manga, but I say at least 20+ eps before we go to the next one. 10-15 would be too good to be true.

In my opinion there might be a filler needed after this. Don't know how long, obviously not too long, but I don't under any circumstances want to see the next arc (probably the best and most epic ever) to be dragged out to the extreme like Thriller Bark was. I can handle a decent filler if it's followed by awesomeness. About the length of the arc, if they keep up the 1 ep = 1 ch then it's about 17-18 episodes left.

So I'd say around 20 more episodes or something, then perhaps a short filler and then a (hopefully) really well made non-dragged out epic next arc. :)

QFTW! It's the only anime where I've up until now watched ALL the episodes. Though I can't say I enjoyed the goat filler arc as much as the rest <.<

The Big Emperor wasn't filler as far as I recall, but the animation for it was beautiful.

I hope if they do want filler they just animate the cover stories. At least they're canon and better than that rainbow mist nonsense. They should probably do the Hatchi and Camie coverstory at the very least.

the emperor was in the anime twice I think. last episode the scene that was in the manga too, with toro and sanji, but robin refusing to join. and then this episode there was one again with Chopper, Usopp and Franky only who landed on Oz head. that I think was not in the manga, but just like Brooks milk scene it is a good way to fill time (better than dragging out dialogues, repeating the same scene after advertisments or worst of them all showing characters running down endless hallways ...).

yup yup..I just saw it too....finally moria looked like a badass all mad and screaming on Kumas face....and the more Kuma speaks the more he freaks me out....he's way creepy....that voice was dead on.....

one of the funniest parts.....was when usoop was gonna get the salt..and a huge fist was behind him...lol.....

Damn, this episode was good. And I don't mean compared to the rest of the arc, I mean good as in a really good anime episode. The anime is slowly starting to get that same vibe it used to have. :D And seeing Oz and Moria getting owned felt just as great as I hoped for when I read it in the manga.

erm this is how i see things going( if there's no filler episodes in between):

373-(chapter 480+ a 1/3 of 481)
374-(chapter 481 + a bit of 482)
375-(chapter 482 and bit of 483)
by 376 we should see kuma again, maybe episode 376 will end with kuma appearing and saying that he will begin by eliminating zoro.

if there's still no filler episode up to this point, i think the kuma vs strawhats battle should be over by episode 380 definetly.

and the rest of thriller bark should be finished by 386 for certain( hoping there's no filler episodes still)

Hm, there's about a volume left of Thriller Bark. A volume and two chapters to be exact. I think they can pull it off by the end of the year. Though then January might be the start of a filler arc, but I think Duval already deals with that issue, it'd make a great 3 episode filler arc. And even if they need filler, they can always use that page from chapter 490 with the rainbow, the catfish, and the candy-rain or something. But I can see Thriller Bark lasting until February if it gets dragged out a bit.

also later on at redline they could spend a whole episode searching for a way through before they even get near Duval etc. so there would be enough material in the story not to come up with a total new adventure like ice hunter arc.

Awesome chapter, Moria is damn creepy in Shadow Asgard form. It also hit me even better now how fucked up it is, Moria going as big as the whole ship/island. And how he was able to get up so soon after getting the scheisse kicked out of him.. the anime makes me realize better why he is a shichibukai.

I just watched 375 from Animecrazy.net (http://www.megavideo.com/?v=9RJZ1Z6X). In the manga it is said, that Gecko fought evenly Kaido (http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/483/06/), but in that sub it was said, that Moria was defeated by Kaido. Im w8ing for Instanz Sub to catch up and I will try to find translations from the manga regarding that.

About the episode, beside the ending, all that time stalling instead of starting the fight with Kuma, it was a good one. Next one will be aired in 2 weeks.

As Vangaurd translated it, it's Moria fought evenly with Kaido. So unless they've taken the translation from the manga scanlation, I'd say it's surely fought evenly with Kaido.

Its not like I didn't read ur posts. I sould have better explained: my point is that there is a big difference in "beaten down by Kaido" and "fought evenly and lost" regarding the lvl of the SHs.

If Kaido and Moria fought even, then it seems like Kaido is weaker than expected though being a Yonko. Since Moria was beaten by the SHs, who can't use haki and who are not even in the NW. Moria even said, if he had Oz than he probably wouldn't have lost to Kaido. So basically it puts the SHs on complete different lvl than expected. But I know, Moria vs Kaido was off-panel, so they could have fought under any kind of circumstances. Still the word "even"..

If Gecko lost to Kaido, then it sounds like: Kaido had no trouble beating him. So basically the SHs, who had a lot of trouble beating Moria are weak compared to Kaido.

Anyway, I hope its understandable why Im curious about the translation on that part.

lot's of emotion in this chapter. I really liked brook making one of his death joke without the traditionnal YOHOHOHO. It really emphasised his first sight of the sun in years

not really, but I suppose they will have TB intern filler stuff. we didn't have much of that until now as far as I know, so imo there will be about 3 filler episodes + perhaps an new year special ...
anyway even if there are no fillers, they still go episode by chapter and there are no further brakes they will have like 2 episodes left to go off TB and that won't bring them far.
