for those of you who are an aware of this new installment to the eva series its a complete revamp and face lift of the original movie and story its going to be 4 movies long the first 3 will be a retelling of the entire story with some new tweaks and other things, then the 4th movie will be an all new ending to the series. the new animation and CG look quiet incredible so far

Alright, I've been following the project closely for some time now, and, though I knew I was to expect something great, this, is, just, AMAZING :luv Well enough for me to scream like a fangirl until morning :love Damn it's beautiful. Damn it's totally, completely beautiful :/

Now if by some weird twist of fate they managed to get back the original cast (because except for Kotono Mitsuishi/Misato and Akira Ishida/Kaworu, I'm not sure if the others are still active in the seiyuu world...) it'll be truly epic :shakefist

Wow...it looks GREAT!!
...but I think I'm too obsessed when I think how the original series didn't use CG (or at least, I *think* o.O) and Rebuilt does...but I guess nothing is wrong with a sort-of-update, right?! (Or maybe I just love hand-drawn too much -.-)
Shame we didn't get a shot of Auska or Kaworu... (they're my favorite characters X3)

Yes, it is confirmed to be an all new ending.
In fact, it's probably better to think of it as "alternate universe eva" because they're changing a lot of the order to the story.

I don't even know Utada Hikaru sang the ending. I expected to hear "Fly me to the Moon" actually XD

But it's really great to watch it in the theater, surrounded by sound system and watching Rei up close. The effects has really improved from the anime version, and there are a few new scenes. I guess for NGE fans, you really must not miss this show. Has anyone else watched it yet?

Been out for a while in Japanese theaters, so only camcorder raws have been released so far. The DVD version comes out in Japan the 25th of April, so we'll have a proper raw, (and subs) following that point :amuse

Well, it seems to be legit after comparing screenshots from my partial file. It sucks that there's still only like 2 seeds.

I've got it subbed but I didn't get it from that website, it's camcorded but the quality could be worse. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it's an mkv file and I can't burn it onto a dvd. Can't wait for the other films though, the CG was great, as well as
Eva-01's shiny green new look, and that last scene with Kaworu on the moon. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of him (my favourite character).

First to mention that I didn't watch movie, and my statement was about anime.
What was lacking? A proper END! Everybody hate when even 1 thing is not explained at the end of anime, and evangelion had sure more yhan 10 big things to be explained. And I don't think the lack of money and time is real excuse. And there are 2 movies, each with his different ending. So what, you choose the one you like more???
Don't misunderstand me, I don't think it was a bad show, it was great, for it's time a revolution for sure, but I had much higher expectation when watched it...
Take it like "psycho" (original, Alfred Hitchcock), when it came out, everyone screamed in fear, but today i doubt it would cause fear.

June 27th, apparently.

Either way, it's still quite a while until the DVD/BD come out, I'd expect january/february of 2010 or something akin to that.

I　watched the Rebuild 2 today, and I was expecting a LOT more I mean, Mari does almost NOTHING in the hole freaking movie, expect the beggining and in the end.

But the end was truly EPIC, with a fucking awesome cliff hanger.

Anyway, maybe I didnt liked that much because Im not a die hard eva fan, heck I watched the series this year, just so i could watch the rebuild XD

But the good thing is the AWESOME music from the trailer is played on the movie during the final battle and is truly extremely EPIC!

Anyway, I think Evangelion is little overrrated, I watched　the series with pretty high expectations but its not THAT amazing, sometimes it was even boring and irritating.

With this movie was the same, I had high expectations but there were not fullfiled, as I said before maybe because of the fact that Im not a die hard Eva fan or maybe because the other day I saw Summer Wars, and NOTHING can be more AWESOME and EPIC than Summer Wars XD

Not really, it's just an alternate version of the story, they're changing stuff throughout the entire series (though not much in the first movie, apart from Kaworu's introduction).

You're probably referring to the End of Evangelion movie, which was meant to replace the original series' episodes 25 and 26, and shows us the originally intended ending, before Gainax had to change it due to financial issues and pressure from the producers.

Despite them saying they're gonna go for a 'new' ending with the new movie tetralogy, I predict they'll probably create something based heavily on on the End of Evangelion ending and/or manga ending (it's in its last volume right now, and appears to stray not far from End of Eva).

They've changed a lot about the story, enhanced the way the story is told by using CG's and edited some character design which they deem to be needed. The first movie is basically the foundation of the whole new theatrical edition. The second installment takes the story to new levels by eliminating unrelated parts and introducing a new character. They've changed some story line but it still has the NGE feel to it. I find it very satisfactory. BTW, in the series, they never showed what Unit 05 looks like, in 2.0 they did show it.

That's what Hideki Anno promised us. He'll be doing a new ending. Most probably he'll be releasing 3.0 and 4.0 side-by-side. I just hope he'll release it as two different movies and as everybody hoped for, a clearer ending compared to EoE. And I think the manga version took a little sidestep because of one thing: Gendou created an ATField and talked with Shinji!

End of Evangelion was a tie in to the emotions that the characters were feeling in the last two episodes, but yeah it was a pretty inconclusive ending. They're making another two movies, the last supposedly have a completely different ending, but I don't know about the third one.
