I didn't read the spoilers either, so Echizen losing his memory was like O.O! But yeah, it's really funny how uncocky he is! I agree with Sai's and Fayte's prediction about the PoP, it makes sense. Huh, so what's this about the "Red Snake"? Has Kirihara adopted a new (bloodier?) style? And is anything going to happen about his SoSA?

Fayte

I must say, Renji and Kirihara on the same team is pretty much a one sided match. I really hope Konomi makes this match realistic in terms of skill difference. Renji and Akaya should win this match 6-1. They will win no doubt, I just hope it isn't close at all.

Atobe the king

I agree, Kaidoh is nowhere nere Kiriharas Level, Kirihara has only been defeated by Ryoma and Fuji, Kaidoh has no business even scoring

HikaruYami
August 18, 2007, 10:20 PM
Okay, since Kirihara made it into doubles and I said that was less likely than instantaneous Horio vs. Yukimura (though I was obviously exaggerating), i've decided that there's a chance of this actually happening in singles 2! lol~

still, who do you think Fuji gets to obliterate in singles 2 this time??

And I honestly think that Kaidoh/Inui will manage 2 games, MAYBE 3, but Konomi probably doesn't want to make it as absolutely crushing as 6-1. I think 6-2 is realistic, though if Konomi made it so that Kirihara and Renji both played at absolute 100% from the start of the match, it would be 6-0 no doubt.

Well, we don't know if Echizen RYOMA made the call. Coach Ryuzzaki got a call saying he was in Karuizawa and is stuck on a train or something. She said she got a call from Echizen, not really specifying that it was Ryoma. So chances are that it was Nanjirou taht amde the call.

So then his dad also dressed him in regular clothes? O.o wow this is going 2 far for my eyes :amuse

He probably wore his regular clothes when he was training in Karuizawa because he knew of the upcoming match. But then he had goptten the amnesia of course.

Kals
August 19, 2007, 12:15 PM
Wow wow, I have known it for quite a long time that I'll never be able to predict what Mr. Konomi is going to make out of this manga. This manga has become more of a fantasy martial art manga (you know, like Dragon Ballz, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto or Bleach) than a sport manga. What's with the aura and SoSA? And now amnesia (which certainly comes with a sudden awoken)? XD

I was actually very happy when Tezuka lost. Maybe I'm affected by the anime, but I find Tezuka a bit too cocky for my liking (well, he actually isn't in the manga). I'd be even happier if Echizen Ryoma lost, but I really doubt it. Now I'm only looking for Fuji's match. Hope he'll be against Yagyuu.

Because Mr. Konomi can think of the most unpredictable, I won't be too surprised if he decides to put Fuji in D1 or something.

Fayte
August 19, 2007, 12:49 PM
Don't worry, Fuji will definitely be playing singles, against Niou's outward appearance. (Can never really tell anymore if it really is him)

This really weird thought just occurred to me. What if Echizen doesn't play Singles 1. What if Yukimura is playing Singles 2 against Fuji? If that happens Rikkai will actually win Nationals.

Wow that would be the ultimate Konomi curve ball right there.

"I really hope Konomi makes this match realistic in terms of skill difference."

Guys if we're talking about being REALISTIC, then you must remember that two great singles players do not an instant doubles win make.

Just because Kirihara and Renjii are stronger individually than Inui and Kaidoh, that would IN NO way mean that Kirihara/Renjii > Inui/Kaidoh. Even considering the super vast gap between Kaidoh and Kirihara.

REALISTICALLY speaking this could very well be a close match. I'm not saying it will or won't be, I'm just pointing out the fallacy in the logic that realistically this has to be a slaughter.

I'm also curious why no one before this match up predicated it (myself included), now that it happened it seems so obvious. Mentor/underling pair of Rikkai vs Mentor/underling par of Seigaku

Actually no. By that logic, the Sanada/Renji pair should have had a close match with the Ibu/Kamio pair in Kantou. However the match ended up to be 6-0. When the skill difference is that vast, then you end up like that.

Atobe the king
August 20, 2007, 05:50 PM
Similar to Momo and Echizen when they faced those guys in doubles, after splitting the court Momo and a Handicapped Echizen won 6-2, with the two games prior to to seperation of the court

"Actually no."

LOL.

Actually, yeah.

By what logic dude? All I said is that two strong singles players will not necessarily beat out a strong doubles team. No MATTER what the difference. My statement in no way implies that Shinji and Kamio should have beaten Sanada/Renji. Shinji and Kamio are primarily single's players.

Fictionally I have two words for you Kikumaru Oishi. By your logic it would seem they only reason they are the strongest doubles pair in Seigaku is because Tezuka and Fuji never paired. Wrong.

Non fictionally I can end this with two words. Bryan Brothers.

We do not really know much about Rikkai to say Akaya/Renji is a bad pair. We don't know much about their relationship, but as you pointed out, it's a sempai/kouhai vs sempai/kouhai match. We don't know if Renji and Akaya have teamed up before either. We just assume they haven't.

Actually no. By that logic, the Sanada/Renji pair should have had a close match with the Ibu/Kamio pair in Kantou. However the match ended up to be 6-0. When the skill difference is that vast, then you end up like that.

Fayte, even with his logic, as I just said, we don't know much about the interrelationships in Rikkai. But seeing as Renji and Sanada are both part of the 3 demons of Rikkai, it should be safe to assume that they work well with each other and shouldn't be purely singles players

yoru sama
August 20, 2007, 08:33 PM
I didn't say Kirihara/Renji is a bad pair. I said exactly what you said, that we don't know. And so that means REALISTICALLY speaking this doesn't have to be a slaughter. Stop referring to "my logic". It isn't my logic. It's tennis' logic. Two strong singles players don't equal a strong doubles team. That is all I said.

Fayte
August 20, 2007, 11:00 PM
Two strong singles players don't equal a strong doubles team.

That is exactly why you are wrong. You could work together with your friend better than anybody else in the world. If you play against Federer and Nadal in doubles (even if they hate eachother) you would get dominated. It doesn't matter how much of a team game you play, if you both suck.

Hence why Renji and Akaya should destroy Inui and Kaidoh. The skill difference is too great.

Atobe the king
August 20, 2007, 11:25 PM
As Fayte said if the difference is great enough it wont matter

In episode 12 i believe, Ryoma and Momoshiro volunteered for D2 they played a team that were very good doubles partners, However Momo and the echizen who has NO doubles affinity, defeated this team 6-2 in straight games because they were that much better.

If what your saying applied to prince of tennis, then Oishi and Kikumaru could take Atobe and Sanada as pair, which we all know wouldn't happen

This is the finals of the National Tournament guys. Every match is going to be close, despite the supposed difference in skill level. This doubles is going to be boring in my opinion but thats only because I think Singles 2 is going to blow as well. I just want to see what Yukimura can do I guess...

yoru sama
August 21, 2007, 12:09 PM
Exactly Fuji.

What I said is true. Federer and Nadal would never beat the Bryan Brothers. And the difference in singles talent between the two is HUGE!!! Federer v Mike Bryan is the same as Sanada v Momo.

Sure, if I and someone played Federer and Nadal we'd lose. But this isn't pro v amatuer. This is the nationals (END OF THE SERIES) between two strong schools. They are both only in Jr. High. The difference in skill is (relatively) not so vast.)

Fayte
August 21, 2007, 03:46 PM
What are you talking about? The skill difference we are comparing are completely different Tier's. We ARE talking about Pro vs Amateur. In the PoT world, it is the techniques that decide who is strong and who is weak. If Sanada and Yukimura played Golden Pair, Golden pair would lose, regardless of Synchro.

*Eiji hits the ball to Sanada*

先週テニスを忘れてしまった王子様。まあ一番テニスを忘れてるのは許斐先生なんですが。
Last week, the Prince forgot how to play tennis. Hmmm, why did Konomi-sensei make the number one tennis player forget how to play.

・我がデータにより明明白白
According to my data, it is evident that...

無駄に四文字熟語を繰り出す柳。作者が荒木先生だったら、3ページぐらい明明白白を叫び続けてますね。
Yanagi uslesssly ends out a 4-kanji idiom. Because it seems the author is Araki-sensei, there are about 3 pages of just screaming (TL note: I have no idea who Araki-sensei is.....)

・赤い目の奴にトルネードスネイクは効かないぞ
It seems the Tornado Snake isn't effective against that red eyed bastard

ついに範囲攻撃を繰り出してきた切原。おそらく属性はギラ系。
Kirihara finally comes out with a big counter attack against it. Perhaps, that is due to his flashy style.

二人まとめて吹っ飛ばせるこの技は、菊丸に有効ですね。
In the end, the 2 are blown away by "this" technique. Seem's to be one of Kikumaru's

・乾のメガネ
Inui's glasses

ベールに包まれた乾の素顔が遂に明らかになるんでしょうか。
Might the "veil" surrounding Inui finally life and the truth of his appearance made known?

Hmm...an odd spoiler at best. very vague and there is a lot of odd commentary by the author of the spoiler.

Hey, hey, dandy! While it would be ridiculously hilarious and retarded if Seigaku won doubles 2, that's NOT what this manga is about! We've known for quite a while that if Tezuka lost, we would take the last 3 matches with Fuji, the Golden Pair, and Echizen. If Doubles 2 wins somehow, Konomi should just kill himself. Inui is around Yanagi's level, but I really believe that Yanagi has been practicing even more than Inui because of it. And like Atobe said, Kaidou has no right to come near Kirihara. Chance of a legitimate victory: 0%.

Ah, and thanks very much for the trans, Sai! Though I believe it's false as well....

Hmmm next chapter we will see a slight comeback from Kaidou/Inui simply because Konomi always puts in at least small comebacks. However, Renji is too good at Mind games and Kirihara still has his stage 2 of Devil Mode (where his body gets dark). That will probably be the deciding factor in how they'll win.

shahrizal85
August 25, 2007, 09:26 AM
Maybe Inui and Kaidoh would have some showdown, but I still think this match would be another lost for Seigaku since Kirihara in his devil mode is too much for Inui and Kaidoh to handle.

Well the spoilers are usually true, its just that the spoiler writer on 2ch tends to also blend in his own commentary to them...so it's hard to tell which is the spoiler and which is the commentary sometimes. Also, he tends to write the spoilers in very vague sentences, so it's also hard to make-out what's happening.

what do you mean? He steals it. He reads the chapter, or at least gets to look at it somewhat, then writes a brief summary online for self-gratification and praise/thanks from others.

I'm fairly sure the spoiler guys usually work for the manga companies, like the printers of Jump, etc., and are just fairly sneaky and/or underhanded, but I have heard of people actually stealing looks at the chapters from the outside (though they never confirmed how, nor have they ever 100% confirmed that they were telling the truth and do not, in fact, work for the manga company).

And now I seriously hope that Horio dies at the end by Yukimura's hand (when he tries filling in for Echizen who's still lost his memory?), that would pwn this entire series.

Is horio even a semi-popular character in Japan? Because I was shocked to hear that all Japanese people love Tingle, so I was just kinda wondering if it was the same with this tennis-idiot.

Fayte

In Manga when ever some crazy stuff happens, or something the character usually explains to his opponent what he did, prince of tennis however is Tennis you dont do that in real tennis, thus you have Horio and the other spectators explaining it for you, its rather annoying

Is horio even a semi-popular character in Japan? Because I was shocked to hear that all Japanese people love Tingle, so I was just kinda wondering if it was the same with this tennis-idiot.

I don't think so. Tingle was popular because he was eccentric and weird in his own way...and stands out with his...unusual behavior, while Horio is just the normal annoying idiot in a series.

Plus, the Japanese's brains tend to work a little different from ours.>_> Their sense of humor differs a bit, I must say, so Tingle will look like the funniest thing that has ever happened to a lot of them. Although I admit, I find the guy rather interesting too.

HikaruYami
August 28, 2007, 10:43 AM
Tingle is funny, but still too annoying to be likeable. He's a MALE "fairy" whose dad won't let him be a fairy, who always chooses to fly around with balloons to show that he's a fairy, and usually serves very little purpose to Link's actual grand quest, except occasionally being there to trade something for something else. And apparently, according to a certain new Japanese Tingle-centered game (that I think is actually coming out in America?!), he's also very money-obsessed.

E-etou... anyway, back on topic, it's true that Horio's purpose is very worthless and annoying, but Sakuno was obviously created to be the shy female lead "secretly" in love with the main character. I mean, it's not like she can possibly be there to tell people about what's going on, because she certainly has no idea. Tomo-chan, though, I will admit is a worthless bitch. That female reporter is too, but she at least has a decently pretty face (and most would argue that she has okay breasts, but I'm a loli guy myself).

Err, FURTHER back on topic, wasn't this topic made to discuss spoilers? I'm not sure which characters we hate is even quite as on topic as discussing a previous fake spoiler that specified a character we hate that would die.

The Japanese opinion is ather different

In other popularity polls for other manga, the villians are always at the bottom and the heroes are always at the top

However the last PoT popularity poll had Atobe at #1 where he should be

^ In terms of character depth, charisma, and overall quality:

Hyotei>Rikkaidai>>>Seigaku : Atobe>Sanada>>>Tezuka

And the other regulars, especially Inui and Fuji, do a much better job with match commentary, so that can't be Horio's main purpose. My guess is that Konomi wanted a "foil" character for Echizen on the team, since Nanjirou can't be around all the time. It would've worked a lot better if Horio was actually likeable, though (since Ryoma isn't)--just like Tomoka would be a better groupie if she weren't so fucking annoying. Sakuno is even more pointless, since she won't confess until the end, but she's okay overall so I don't really mind it.

By the way, have you seen "Atobe's Gift"? If so, what did you think? I'm just wondering, since you seem like a big Atobe fan.

Well thats just my opinion lol

And i neglected to remove kabaji from my calculations

I like them because:

Atobe- self explanitory
Oshitari- always cool and collected nice character design
Gakuto- Also cool character design, and jumping like 25 feet in the Air
Hiyoshi- as you quite aptly put, the enbu kid
Choratoh/shishido- my favorite doubles team
Jirou- The most realistic member on the team, and a loveable character

As for Rikkai, i love them all character design wise, but i like Sanada, Kirihara, Renji and Yukimura the most

gigantor21
August 28, 2007, 04:46 PM
Hyotei the best team? Atobe, Oshitari and the enbu kid are the only cool ones.

I based that mostly on how I feel about each player, and weighed it against how I felt about the team overall. It's not meant to be fact, obviously, but I'm 100% sure that's how it pans out with me.

Hyotei is the only team in which I like just about every character individually AND their overall dynamics. As a group, Rikkai is pretty much even, but Sanada, Yukimura and Akaya carry a lot of the weight. I've never really felt much of anything for the others, particularly Bunta and Jackal, while Kabaji is the only character in that category on Hyotei's end (for obvious reasons). So my opinion's mostly based on balance.

On a side note, Shishido and Choutaro are also my favorite pair--my only real favorite pair, in fact.

What the HECK?
Echizen... amnesia?
Thats very...... random, but fits.
Maybe its the after effects of the PoP... I'm sure we'll get a scientific explanation about it sooner or later.

Maybe Echizen becomes like Kabaji lol. Amnesia knocks out the stuff out of him and he absorbs new stuff by watching in amnesia state, then when he remembers everything he's more powerful! Lol

(Sanada returns with Rai)
*Eiji dies*

Definately, there is an evident skill difference between each individual of both teams. However the disparity between Inui/Kaidoh and Renji/Kirihara is most probably less than that of Sanada/Yukimura and Eiji/Oishi so I wouldn't call it very one-sided. Kaidoh will certainly come up with a new trick.

Rikkaidai is said to be all Tezuka-level. If that's the case, I would call it Pro V Not very pro. Please don't assume it's end of the series, I want at least some storyline to continue even if it's crap T_T

... ...I just want to see what Yukimura can do I guess...

We all do :P

September 01, 2007, 08:38 AM
Kirihara is scary. Does Echizen get to play if Seigaku loses this one?

I'm sure Echizen will get to play... otherwise it will mess up the story.
The tournament alternates between singles and doubles. We're only at game 2 of 5 right now.

For suspense reasons, I have a feeling that Inui/Kaidoh will win their game otherwise it will be a given that Seigaku will win Singles 2 and Doubles 1. The manga may have said that Tezuka purposefully dragged on the match to buy time for Echizen but I believe the real reason is to give an adequate reason for him to lose and provide more excitement and suspense in subsequent games.

puma
September 01, 2007, 12:33 PM
I agree that there will be no suspense if inui/kaidoh loose(even if it is impractical, but this is manga..). Since i am assuming that it is a given that Seigaku will win the nationals.

kokusaikone
September 01, 2007, 04:46 PM
2 alternatives- Maybe the amnesia is just an attempt to make the final match interesting and make Seigaku appear as underdogs; Maybe it will justify Ryoma losing to Yukimura.

puma
September 01, 2007, 05:19 PM
But.....amnesia just seems like a lame excuse. Besides, i dont think it will be fair to Yukimura if he fights with someone with amnesia.

HikaruYami
September 01, 2007, 06:01 PM
About the amnesia, I'm another who agrees that it's just part of the process of PoP, probably the last part, or maybe simply a side-effect of finishing it.

But about the match... uhm, no. People who say that Inui/Kaidoh should win just for the sake of creating suspense are psycho. Kirihara should remain WAY above Kaidoh for this year, and Inui and Yanagi should be about the same (though Yanagi might be better by now). If Kaidoh somehow completely overcomes Kirihara to take the match for Seigaku, Konomi's foreshadowing and character development up to this point was WORTHLESS. Now, Oda might just throw something out the window for an interesting twist for the sake of comedy, but this manga absolutely would NOT have that done. It's just not Konomi's style.

HikaruYami
September 01, 2007, 07:29 PM
I find it likely that Kaidoh developed a new technique for this final match, and that Renji and Kirihara might not be able to react 1 or even 2 times (actually, they SHOULDN'T be able to react properly the very first time, since this is a manga and all newly developed (as long as they're finished) techniques work the first time), but it take more tries than that for them to counter it. But let's hope this isn't foreshadowing Kaidoh somehow besting Kirihara, because it's truly impossible. Maybe next year he could have, with his insane amount of improvement (apparently 2 decently new techniques, the boomerang and this one, along with his dramatic increase in stamina and power) this year, but as we've been saying nothing he can do can beat Kirihara.

EDIT: Well, for some reason, Sai hasn't posted this here yet, so Chinese raw, credit goes to kobashi @ the FET forums for finding it first~

Hmmmm... Do you think he might've jumped in to the world of SoSA. Because even though he did do the laser in an earlier chapter, it wasn't refined and was not as fast as Yagyuu's laser. It may very well be the laser, but I don't see why adding that to his arsenal would make a huge difference, enough so as to get a point from Renji and Kirihara who have undoubtedly seen this shot many many times.

they make a big dramatic scene about inui's glasses falling but we still dont get to see his eyes properly.....we see renji's not so slitted eyes again and oshitari's without his glasses again~~he looked so funny without them and inui looked so funny with them......

kaidoh probably did the laserbeam or some version of it and ends up getting named something ridiculous by the freshmen well that'd be funny..

You saying this means that SoSA has been abused

however you don't need SoSA to copy, SoSA isn't really a copy its more of a blitz of the random, Ryoma did the snake, the rising, and the Zero Shiki drop prior to learning any SoSA

Ok i'll explain...I hope I'm on the right track...I shall quote the characters in the manga!

English Version:
However, as we expected of Yanagi [Renji]...he is easily manipulating that red-eyed Akaya.

Chinese Version:
As expected of Yanagi[Renji]...he can skillfully manipulate the red-eyed Akaya

English Version:
Yeah...even his Devil

Chinese Version:
That's right, it doesn't matter even if it's Devil

Btw i'm comparing with both versions because they ways they are written might be a little different :P

It means Renji can control Akaya very well, even if Akaya is in his Devil mode.

English Version:
Because Renji is in doubles, his true worth is being shown.

Chinese Version:
By playing in doubles, Renji can greatly show his true worth.

I guess Renji is stronger in doubles than singles? o.O

Fuji
September 03, 2007, 10:15 AM
Yah, that's what it seems like, which makes sense. If he is able to calculate so well he can dismantle two opponents and bring out the true strength of his partner. That is another reason why I think Kaidoh and Inui is such a good partnership. They accent each other extremely well.

The same goes for Renji and Kirihara. Renji controls Kirihara's rage and prevents him from overly hurting his opponent while analyzing data which makes the match that much smoother for them.

I'll clear it up the best I can. This chapter's title is "The Master Beast Tamer" and that refers to Renji being able to control Akaya. Furthermore we already know Renji as an established doubles player back when he and Inui were partners. So, what we can assume from this is that Renji has an uncanny ability to manipulate his partners perfectly, despite who they are, so that they can work as a team much more efficiently.

It does seem now that Kaidou did perform the Laser Beam (which in real life isn't all that hard a shot to do....though it is if you want to end in that specific stance) though it probably would not have been as fast as Yagyuu's Laser. I foresee that it is only a temporary set back to Rikkai as they probably did not know Kaidou played with Yagyuu that one time before.

alexlw92
September 03, 2007, 03:13 PM
umm, if you calculate it out

2 more chapters inui-kaidoh
4-6 fuji
4-6 golden pair
6+ echizen

so that would be 16-20+

and theres probably gonna be an epilogue chapter, which is gonna be after the "zomg we won" chapter, so id say 18-22+ chapters left, minimum

Fayte
September 03, 2007, 03:21 PM
Also, adding onto what Sai said:

If you notice, since the beginning of the match, Akaya has been unusually supportive. Remember that is the main reason why we thought he would never be a good doubles player. However if Akaya was paired with any other player, chances are he would just be his normal self. The ball hog. It is as Sai said, Renji is able to control his doubles partner.

Urgh, I can't believe Tezuka lost that way. I don't think it's wrong for him to lose once in a while but why is it at both times he's sacrificing his arm just so his team can "move on" yet TERRIBLY failing to do so because he LOST. -_-; His motivation is just so selfless and just makes me wanna scream at him to wake up and think of his own future for once; I mean what if he really loses his arm and can't play tennis any more. There goes his future as a tennis pro player. ah, I must remind myself Tezuka isn't a real person :XD

so, counting this week, that gives us 16 (Edit: or is it 15 after last week? can't remember, don't keep up with issue #s) chapters to end it. My guess is 2 more for this match (1 to let Kirihara counter Kaidoh and 1 for the absolute finale of the match), 4 for singles 2 (5 if you want to count the small part of the chapter that would also be the end of doubles 2), 4 for doubles 1 (because it will probably only be 1 page at the end of singles 2 that shows the golden pair stepping forward, I won't count that), 5 for singles 1, and an epilogue chapter.

just guessing, of course. I wish it could be Tezuka-length matches for all the ones Seigaku should win, though (singles 2 thru singles 1).

Though there's still the chance that Yukimura comes up in Singles 2 to annihilate Fuji and Rikkai wins their 4th championship.... Or even worse, Yukimura and Echizen take Singles 2 and Yukimura somehow beats Echizen....

But it honestly can't end in Singles 2, right? The Golden Pair has to win!!! So for the GP to win, they have to PLAY! And that means that singles 2 and doubles 1 both win, leaving only Echizen vs. Yukimura as the option for Singles 1....

If this all of a sudden pulls a Shaman King... DEATH.....

2nd edit:according to the FET forum... etou... well, they're saying that issue 52 is only 12 away. But that can't be right, can it? Your topic says issue 48 is that far away.

Fuji
September 05, 2007, 06:47 PM
Well, with only 16 chapters to go, this should only be a temporary setback. I think the score will be closer like 6-1, possibly 6-2. But Renji is the Master, he has to know how to counter the laser.

THis makes me wonder if Yukimura will indeed play singles 2. I think it would be a closer and better match than if Fuji played Marui or Jackal, or even Yagyuu, who has been shown to play singles before.

I think this would give more time for an ending, and losing at the nationals would be an excellent stimulus to bring Echizen back and face Yukimura in the final showdown.

Chapter 356 was in Issue 40, so yeah, 12 more chapters. I think the confusion is that the different series endings are beginning in issue 48, but they aren't all happening in the same issue. PoT is the last one in the list in 52.

That's a pretty incredible skill that Kaidoh has picked up. Being able to hit either a straight or a curved shot with the same form, not to mention the gyro he added on the Laser Beam.

I think Kirihara will counter this by increasing his speed an power even more by going into the full devil mode like he did against the Nagoya's player Krauser. everyone already knows rikkai is gonna win this. fuji cant lose again, golden pair lost too much before this and echizen is gonna pwn with PoP. theres only 12 chapters left, and theyve already talked too much about PoP and SoSA to not use it, and we already know its gonna pwn

I agree. Except if Konomi decides to let Rikkai win the nationals and end the PoP with a different spin. But that is highly unlikely.

gigantor21
September 10, 2007, 09:03 AM
^ On the OVA's, you're right. The animation kicks ass overall. But what bothered me was how the 2 matches before looked better than Ryoma-Atobe; the GP's match was the best looking one so far, next to Tezuka-Eishirou. And it's not like there aren't any bad looking episodes--just look at Momo-Oshitari. That was almost as bad as the original series.

I just hope they prioritize the matches better this time. If they don't put as much into the next 2 for the sakes of Tezuka and Ryoma, then I'm completely okay with it. Because that makes sense.

Sai_the_Shaman
September 10, 2007, 12:29 PM
I predict the next chapter will move relatively fast and end the doubles 2 match up. I see Kirihara going into his Full Devil mode and dominating with some resistance from Kaidou. The end of the chapter will announce the singles 2 players. (only 11 more chapters till the end)

Urahara
September 10, 2007, 03:30 PM
I predict that Yukimura plays singles 2. Two of the three demons have already played and Kirihara is in devil mode, so that would suggest to me that they want the quick victory. So even though I'm amazed that the ref didn't call the match after 15 minutes of kirihara on the ground, the match will end this coming chapter. Followed by probably 8 chapters of Ryoma s Yukimura. Then two recap and wrap up chapters after to give us who wins.

About the 15 minutes thing, I think what Kaidoh means is the 15 minutes(what Kirihara promised to beat Seigaku in) is over and Kaidoh is making fun of Kirihara for not fulfilling the 15 minutes win. If you referred to the start of this match-up, Kirihara says "15 minutes is more than enough". Lol :o

no, dandy, he's complaining that even after Shiraishi successfully countered Fuji's ultimate attack once, Fuji KEPT using it. He must have used it like 4+ times to NO avail after he was sure Shiraishi could always counter it. What Fuji should have done is start to rotate through his new, improved Triple Counters that Shiraishi had not yet learned to counter instead of using his now-futile Final Counter. I remember it in the manga, too, it seemed like a pretty stupid idea for him to do what he did.

But it was a really good match because of everything that happened beforehand.

Though Shiraishi probably was a better tennis player than Fuji (though Fuji is certainly a more intelligent player), so I'm not shocked that they had Shiraishi win. Though that "Perfect Tennis" thing pissed me off, because if it was perfect it would be TMnK and Fuji wouldn't have scored a single point!

Atobe the king

actually shiriashi was just better, period he bested all of fuji's moves using a superior intellect

You return Tsubame Gaeshi before it bounces
You use Hakugeis path to your advantage
You defeated higuma otoshi with a smash too strong

dude, his name is puma. kakyuuin is his rank. You shouldn't call people by their rank unless you're higher than them.... ALOT higher.... and even then it sounds obnoxious....

anyway, shiraishi is a better player on average compared to Fuji, but the fact is that he never countered Fuji's improved 3x counters, which means if Fuji had used those more, it could have gone either way, honestly. I'm personally hoping to see more of that in Fuji's dominating (it damn well better be, unless it's Yukimura playing and Konomi really does want to screw over the audience) performance in Singles 2, rather than just seeing him attempt 24 failed final counters in a row at the end of the match for the loss (wouldn't that suck?!?!).

I think this conversation is somehow drifting more and more out of the thread anyway, i might as well comment then

delvis203 is it not kinda obvious that you are a major fuji fan like heaps of others out there.

Yes Fuji may look good and easily attracts heaps of people to like him BUT sadly the truth is Fuji is NOT the best in tennis in PoT. There are players far better than him in PoT and you just gotta except that Fuji is NOT the best.

Well for the Shiriashi and Fuji's match, Shiriashi managed to defeat Fuji's final counter during the match which means that he is an extremely talented player.

And no I am not a Shiriashi fan. I am just writing what i believe is to be right.

IMHO, Fuji still wouldn't have won even if he would have played smart because all shiraishi had to do was abandon his perfect tennis and play his real tennis and it would have been a completely different match. We got a sneak peak in the manga when he did the unnamed shot that traveled in circles. The whole time he was saying that perfect tennis was boring and the only reason he was using it was it gave him countless victories. He has a lot up his sleeve besides perfect tennis. Even Fuji cannot defeat perfect tennis.

Yeah although many manga-plot-holes, the Fuji Tezuka match was quite entertaining. He (fuji)"showed his true colours", but somehow didn't own as much as during the Nationals"...weird. I think he could have plummeted Tezuka(w/o muga) with the improved counters.

I kinda agree. Predictions after Rikkaidai's win of this match will be a bit boring. But it will be more of a shame if Seigaku pair win this match bcos of the difference in strengh(or is it technique, wahtever) of both parties.

KuwabaraTheMan

That's the problem of going down 2-0. It creates drama, but it removes suspense. There'd be no doubts about the results of the next two matches, while if Kaidoh and Inui win, we could have a more suspenseful Singles 2 match.

But Inui appears to be at his limit.

"The data has been collected" - that was what Inui said, so I'd say they'll make a comeback next chapter, but who'll win is difficult to tell since Inui's almost beaten to a pulp.

konami wouldnt make seigaku lose. theyve nvr lost before this, and it wouldnt make sense for them to lose now. and another "one ball one point" think like with kintaro would be kinda retarted, and we need to see yukumura play

It will reach Singles 1, but on what the match score for the first to matches will be is still unknown. Will it be 0-2 for Rikkaidai, or 1-1.

Seigaku losing would be an interesting outcome, kinda like a welcome back to the real world from Konomi

KuwabaraTheMan
September 18, 2007, 11:15 AM
Seigaku losing to Rikkaidai would have made more sense the first time they faced, with the Nationals still ahead.

If the series is ending in 9 weeks, I can't see Konomi ending the series with Seigaku losing.

puma
September 18, 2007, 03:49 PM
Totally agree with u that if they had lost the first time(as they should SERIOUSLY have), then things would have been more interesting and their winning the Nationals will have more meaning(manga-style).

I am guessing Konomi may have more to loose than just some fan base, if Rikkaidai wins the nationals.

September 18, 2007, 05:51 PM
it'd be totally awesome if rikkai wins the nationals....but u no wat'd be really sad~? if konomi decides to be evil and never let us see yukimura play....

puma
September 18, 2007, 07:44 PM
He cant be that evil, Yukimura will play(fingers crossed).
I just dont fancy the idea that he is going to loose(based on Seigaku national win).

Atobe the king
September 18, 2007, 08:01 PM
Yukimura isnt even a player, hes a presence, i think Fayte said that and i agree

Its like Sephiroth from FF7 hes not a acharacter anymore he's CG battle porn (quoted from some Gamefaqs user)

He will play and 9 weeks doesn't seem like neough time at all

Its too abrubt and rather dissapointing to me

konami probably wont make seigaku lose, unless he wants mail bombs from all the PoT fans in the world (not me tho, i wouldnt. the shipping would cost too much =D)

September 19, 2007, 08:10 AM
We can't trust the rumor a 100% (that about PoT ending in 9 weeks), so if Konomi and the Jump people haven't gone totally crazy I think it will end much later...

puma
September 19, 2007, 10:58 AM
But if it doesnt end in 9 weeks, Konomi may have to come up with a plot line that will once again involve all 9 Seigaku players No? Seeing as 4 are already graduating..... Well, I'll have to wait and see.

Atobe the king
September 19, 2007, 06:05 PM
Actually its 6 members graduating, which leaves....

Ryoma, Kaidoh, Momo......and maybe Arai

Yea seigaku is screwed, not even Ryoma can carry a whole team

But its not just them though

Hyotei has Choutaro, Kabaji and Enbu- master Hiyoshi
Rikkai only has Kirihara

Nah, most teams has, I guess, many semi-good players that aren't regulars.

I can't help but think that you're... some kind of idiot. I mean, it's not so bad that you don't have the Jap language pack installed, that you don't know that you NEED the language pack. You don't have it installed on your computer, which, depending on the computer, could turn it into boxes or random characters that almost look similar to the japanese characters. (&$$,1M*%$, as an example. Not that it really makes sense)

So yeah, get it installed and it will be normal Japanese... I promise, all of these Japanese characters don't show up as boxes to everyone else ``>.< Except that one katakana that really is a box, of course~
If I misunderstood, then I guess I apologize, but seriously, you're making yourself sound stupid.

Quick summary (in class right now and don't have the time to give a line by line.

Akaya taunts Kaidou and Inui telling them that the Nationals are over for them

Inui and Kaidou lose then they talk about Kaidou's devil mode a bit.

Inui wondersif Fuji will be alright in Singles 2

"Game 2-0 Fuji" "Triple Counter Hakuryuu" (He is facing Niou)

The crowd is amazed how strong Fuji is

Niou is excited because it's more interesting/fun with Fuji being this strong (I think it's niou, doesnt say int eh summary)

Seigaku ppl is surprised that Fuji is in his serious mode so quickly.

the Coach (I assume Ryuzaki) comments how Fuji doesn't intend for it to be his last counter and how he aims to achieve higher levels of play

Captain (I assume Tezuka): Fuji...you have...

Fuji uses his Fifth Counter GateKeeper of Hecatoncheires"

Saigaku ppl comment about how he says fifth instead of final (implying a 6th counter or more...)

last line I can't read some of the kanji, but it talks about Fuji having a huge evolution.

Wth? did Kishimoto screw up? On the scoreboard it says that singles 3 was 7-6, doubles 2 was 5-1, and singles 2 is 5-0.

Considering Sanada won 7-5
I'm guessing Kirihara and Renji won by default at 5-1
And wtf@ Niou leading 5-0?

edit:
my bad, I just saw that it was "before" the dream.

-Kishimoto still screwed up Sanada's score

Sai_the_Shaman
September 22, 2007, 12:25 AM
lol read the translation Fayte, that part was a dream and Inui/Kaidou lost by default

btw, it's Konomi not Kishimoto lol

Uh. The counterspin of Fuji is so high the ball hits the opponent's court and bursts on impact.
