Welcome to our newly made subforum for Prince of Tennis fans!

We have a translator here, Ryoma Echizen, doing the recent PoT chapters, and a scanlator, Sao, cleaning and textsetting them, so I figured it was a good time to create this section.

If you would like to see Ryoma's translations so far of PoT, please go to his Translations forum (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/index.php?board=96.0).

Meanwhile, feel free to start PoT Discussion threads, talk about your favorite characters, and announce any new scanlations here if you like.

Have fun!

Welcome to MH, imendezjr, have a good time. There are some PoT chapters that haven't been translated and scanlated yet, I believe, but bear with us and we may be able to get them all here soon.

For now, yeah, stoptazmo.com is your best bet, or lurk at mIRC.

irc: #lurk@irchighway.net

There is still a gap between vol 11 and vol 13. Those volumes you won't find at the internet. Reason is that PoT was licensed at that time and it has been stopped scanlating. Afterwards the group re-began to scanlate but vol 12+13 are still missing. I'm not sure if they even consider to work on these ones.

I haven't seen the anime so I cannot say much about that.

update: this info is old. The gap is closing and you can get those eps with lurk, too.

Hi,

well the anime is very similar to manga. The main difference appears during the national season, where the anime ends and the manga goes on. I really recommend you to read the manga, you will enjoy a lot.

A group is translating chapters 95 - 114...they are just extremely slow and they only do 1 chapter every so and so weeks (like 1 chapter a month).  So who knows when they will be done.

The spoiler changes between manga/anime...if you want to know.

The anime has a lot of fillers and expanded story, in this case it makes the anime great because there is a lot more in depth plot about the characters and lots of humor (such as the manga's lack of Inui juice or the Prince of Bowling/Billiards/etc episodes or more in depth story). The filler where intentionally added by the creator Konomi himself since he didn't want to just bore people who has read the manga and expect to see the same thing in the anime so he wanted more of the expanded story in the anime.

But where the manga truly shines is that it is completely all about Tennis without any use of having added story.  The manga is more fast paced plus the drawings dynamic angles and character stances are truly brilliant in every detail and styling far more than the anime could imagine.

The battle between Rikkaidai in the manga is a lot better I'd say than the anime (because they ended differently and different techniques were used in the manga not shown in the anime because the anime caught up to the manga where that story hasn't been done yet).  Also the story after Rikkaidai (between 236 - 247) is completely different in the manga not seen in the anime.  Too many differences I'd say.  More differences probably having the minor team and crappy Midoriyama (where this team was replaced by weird Jyosei Shonan in the anime).  And so on and so on.

The major change in the National would probably be the fact that in the manga it is Tezuka that returns from Kyuushu (not Germany like in the anime) where in the anime it is Ryoma that returns from the U.S. Open. (when he never went to the U.S. Open in the manga). Read the rest to find out what happens...it's worth the d/l...

thanks for that I like reading the scans because Viz messes with things that shouldn't be messed with, it's frustrating that they refer to the characters by there first name so Tezuka is now Kunimitsu and Fuji is Shuusuke and so on...too bad they disregarded the whole sempai thing too, it doesn't feel right to have first years refering to their elders with just there name...ok I'm done ranting about Viz...keep up the good work

You guys know where in the manga i can pick up from where the anime stopped?

Yue Ryong
October 09, 2006, 05:45 AM
It's slightly more complicated than that. Things are more or less the same up until the Rikkaidai arc (apart from the complete absence of Jyousai Shounan), but things take quite a different turn immediately after the Rokkaku games (Genius 185), so it's best to start reading from there. Personally, though, it's best just to read from the beggining. There a number of minor differences that aren't significant, but do crop up here and there.

Its good that fuji isn't just going to totally come back and beat shiraishi with him getting in another point, i still think that shiraishi is going to win though, just so that fuji won't win all the time.

Yeah, Konomi-sensei made it look like the table's going to turn once more. I go for TIE BREAK!!!

Sai_the_Shaman
October 12, 2006, 03:55 PM
I'm not sure if it will go into tie break. I hope it might because I like Shiraishi as a charater a lot, but I think Konomi might make Fuji show us an upgraded Kagerou Zutsumi, which is the only counter we havent seen upgraded yet. Also even if the Final Counter is returned, Fuji still has his new upgraded Triple Counters that Shiraishi wasn't able to return ealier.

KuwabaraTheMan
October 12, 2006, 05:40 PM
I immagine Shiraishi can either figure out how to return those, or simply seal them off.

The biggest reason they stopped him before was surprise. He knows what to expect from them, now.

Perfect Tennis will prevail.

MajinX
October 14, 2006, 03:56 PM
yea its true the upgraded counters only worked so well coz they were surprising esp since it was the first time they were ever used, they are still hard to deal with but im sure if shiraishi can handle the 5th and final counter, the other 3 shouldnt be much harder

AND i have a feeling shiraishi still has another speacial move up his sleeve, so far all we know about him is that his tennis is precise, powerful and hes the type that plays so he wouldnt waste energy on wasted moment and all, an adult style of tennis that has no major weakness. But remember kentaro was very scared if shiraishis bandaged hand, im sure if he takes those off he can either play better or its a dangerous speacail move, he needs more than just boring perfect tennis and that crazy side spin smash to become the captain.

ra1n
October 14, 2006, 05:19 PM
It would be funny if Shirashi actually had a special move called "poison arm"

I've been expecting Fuji to lose this game from the start because I didnt want him to go undefeated into the finals. If you look at the rest of the lineup to get to S1, everyone else has a good chance of winning.

D2 Momo/Kaidoh - Momo hasnt won a game in nationals yet, also they lost last time they were paired together.
S2 Kawamura - same as above, but im guessing he will sit out the finals match again. He will probably break himself again this time in a power battle to be known as the strongest power player in nationals.
D1 Tezuka/Inui - Unless Kawamura has a "no game" again, the winner will be obvious at this point, since the match needs to get to S1.

sammo
October 15, 2006, 11:52 PM
although im a proponent of the perfect tennis that shiraishi has shown, i think fuji is going to win - it'd be kinda weird if he lost since everyone was like "O WOW NEW COUNTER" but then it turns out to be "uh... he still lost, a lot good that did". also, they made so much commotion about fuji surpassing tezuka momentarily during kirihara vs. fuji, so if the mangaka wants to put any emphasis on it, he should have fuji win.

why doesn't shiraishi go up to the net anymore? i would think this would be the best preventive measure against fuji's new counter, rather than try to cancel out the spin.

cravenight
October 16, 2006, 12:15 PM
Well, PoT never been too realistic to do the sensable thing, or maybe he wants to defeat the counter his own way. But if he went to net fuji and hit a shot behind him so who know what will happen.

MajinX
October 16, 2006, 01:37 PM
well fuji is not someone to be taken lightly, now that he is serious and actually wanting to win, he is on the same lvl as shiraishi and going up to the net against someone very strong just like you is not an easy task. And even if he is at the net, his shots are so weak now because of the spin he can not counter.

Well, if I remember correctly all the matches in the Natioanls are played regardless. remeber the match against Higa Chuu? they won every set and played all the matches. so there is that slight possibility that Seigaku wins all th ematches (lol, that would be lame if that happened though)

i believe even the kirin drop requires the ball to be overhead smashes, not volleys though. well i mean, i get the fact that now fuji's all about winning, its harder for shiraishi to go to the net, but he'll be able to seal phoenix return and gatekeeper counter. at the same time, the white dragon is waiting for him so i guess that's also out of the equation.

by the way, i wonder if gatekeeper counter only work by using backhand returns :o

boberto
October 19, 2006, 04:21 AM
Yeah, if Fuji loses, the introduction of the evolved counters and the final counter would all be put behind. I guess Konomi-sensei just want to thrill us more by letting Shiraishi get a supposed advantage by hitting a ball over the net (that is if that's what would happen on the next issue). Because really, it would be boring if Fuji got pressed in the beginning then came back with newly-fueled counters then ended up winning rightaway after that.

But still, seeing more from Shiraishi would be better.

1.) WINTERLION PLZ HOOK US UP!
I love his translations =)

2.) I believe Rikkai Dai will loose, Seigaku already beat them right, they need to beat somebody else. There's only one match we need to see from that team, and that's their captain.

3.) WTF FUJI!
Truly sad that he lost.

What an amazing match. I'm glad Shiraishi won, he's really awesome. And that was a great match, up there with Tezuka/Kabaji and Ryoma/Atobe for the best of the Nationals so far.

I figured Fuji would lose, as Kawamura has to win in Singles 2. I'm glad he finally did, though.

And I know they beat Yamabuki, but I thought Nagoya Seitoku would just be a throw away school and we wouldn't even see their match. But it seems that they might be pretty good. An upset would certainly be unexpected, but it would also be a shame to not see Yukimura play.

October 19, 2006, 06:20 PM
It was getting predictable (Tezuka wins, Fuji wins, Echizen wins => Seigaku wins) so it's good that Fuji lost.

On the other hand, it seems like Fuji should've put up more of a fight in the tiebreak. Especially since Shiraishi never beat the evolved triple counters.

About Rikkai Dai, I'm guessing they won't lose. Also, aren't those foreigne exchange students from the TV show? Or am I wrong?

I guess not. The one foreign team on the anime show is the team from America.

I just didn't like how fuji lost, i wanted him to lose, but it was so anti dramatic how he lost, he went all the way to build up the match then to lose like that.

As for the rikkai dai, i still think they will win, but it will go into game 5, and show us how powerful their captain is.

sammo
October 19, 2006, 09:29 PM
bah, i also did not enjoy how fuji lost. after all that trouble of upgrading his counter, he only used it once in the tiebreaker, and he spammed his final counter WAY too much - its no brainer that a top national level player will eventually break it after having to cope with it for 7 straight games. i guess this means speed, strength, and accuracy-wise, shiraishi is just simply a step above fuji because shiraishi's coach at once predicted that shiraishi would be the victor after he broke the counter.

cravenight
October 19, 2006, 11:56 PM
I really wondering why fuji didn't do something else after his counter was beat, i mean he seems to keep on doing it.

boberto
October 20, 2006, 12:00 AM
Maybe he thinks that the Final Counter would be the hardest for Shiraishi to break because he had to counter his spin. The evolved counters only took Shiraishi by surprise the first time they were hit and Shiraishi already know how they work so he might be able to return them (well, maybe with the exception of Hakuryuu).

Interesting stuff. I need to read a translation though. What was up with Hitouji and Konjiki? That afro was weird...

I loved seeing Momoshiro(my fave) kicking some butt here.

Hopefully Momoshiro and Kaidoh get a big win for Seigaku here. We don't need another Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku arc where they drop the first 2 and then win 3 in a row.

KuwabaraTheMan

But seriously over 100 ways to hit a tornado snake?? wow he can probably do a boomerang tornado, a reverse tornado, a short tornado, a drop tornado, a lop tornado... and so onn, lol Drive Tornado, Tornado Serve, Zero shinki tornado, Super sonic tornado, Dunk tornado... ummmmm Tornado to desctruction, World of Tornados, tornado beam, tornado volley, Cool tornado, Swallow tornado, Tornado otoshi, Tornado knife, TORNADO ZONE, okay i cant get 100 but yeaa.

Anyways maybe momo just told kaido to make a bluff sine momo is a trickester who can think on the spot, btw what ever happened to momo's super analysis of his surroundings and using it against the opponent?? They still got the final waiting (I assume they will win the semi-final). But after this performance, I don't think these two libertadores will be coupled again XD

From my point of view, I believe they Momo and Kaido will show off their super skills that have never been shown before. If Fuji has upgraded his triple counters and completed the final counter, I would expect they'll win with the same way too.

yeah, they are indeed a good combo, but are still the copies of other player that we have already seen (Koharu is Inui and Hitouji is Kabaji). I was expecting new tennis style from Konomi-sensei, beacuse until now, the only one that have an original style is Shiraishi in the Shitenhouji (as we already seen that Ishida = Kawamura/Ishida and Oshitari = Kamio).

about the match, i think that Momo/Kaido pair will win (Momoshiro have to win at least a match at the National), the same will do Kawamura (he has to win to be the strongest player) and Echizen will win to grasp the last Kiwami

KuwabaraTheMan

Well, two things.

1) He and Kaidoh had their pace thrown off at the start of the match, not giving him the chance to do that.

2) They were mimicking each other in the second half of the match. Kaidoh couldn't do that, and if Momoshiro had done it while mimicking Kaidoh, it would have given them away.

I hope that Kawamura wins his match and that Tezuka/Inui lose theirs. It makes more sense to me that way. Kawamura has to prove that he is the strongest and Tezuka/Inui have nothing to prove and are an untried team. Also, if Tezuka/Inui lose it proves an important point that just because you are an excellent singles player does not mean you can also be equally great in Doubles.

You're leaving out his match against Kabaji.

Currently, in completely official matches Tezuka is 2-1(beat Kite and Kabaji, lost to Atobe). If you thrown in his two matches against Daimaru(which weren't official, he'd be 3-2.

But if you do that, you might as well include his pwning of Ryoma, and his defeating Inui and Momoshiro as well.

He currently has a winning record, a loss here would make him even.

December 17, 2006, 06:15 PM
If Taka-san wins, he probably won't be able to play tennis again. But I don't think he will win for a couple of reasons. 1. Taka-san has not had the best record when it comes to important matches. 2. If he loses then Tezuka-Inui pair have to lose in order for Echizen and Kintarou to face each other in singles 1. Based on the hype created by the whole super freshman thing, the match will not end before singles 1, the Super freshman battle has to take place.

Taka-san was kinda different too. He didn't go "burning" once he touched his racket. Just noticed. Pardon my slowness. Haha.

I noticed that too, but as u all said, taka-san is probably not going to win. I mean he has used his ultimate move already and it is easily countered.

Tamiel
December 20, 2006, 10:50 AM
Yeah, but you know how everyone has another ultimate card after they use so early in the match their "ultimate card". Also notice that he has more strength than before as he used it already 3 times. I don't think it will be a one-sided match, but it would be boring if they made it another Fuji match which he was about to lose and recuperate.

Apparently, he's already showed 3 of his Hadokyuu styles, but WHEN and WHERE was this?

The first was his standard hadoukyuu, the second was the serve hadoukyuu, and the third was the smash hadoukyuu.

the other styles could be : backhand hadokyuu, volley hadokyuu :blink, drop hadokyuu :s, double handed forehand hadokyuu, double handed backhand hadokyuu, but I can't remember other shots

Nah, I think Kawamura has to win, but I do see the possibility of him losing. If he does end up losing, then I think at the very end of the match, Kawamura will clearly surpass Gin in terms of power/Hadoukyuu skill. However, he will just simply run out of gas and hit a shot that goes out causing him to lose. But I hope Kawamura wins. He deserves it. He lost to Kabaji, in his last singles match so I hope he wins this one. Kawamura deserves it.

December 21, 2006, 01:40 PM
Yes, I would prefer Taka would win this one. And Tezuka/Inui lost. It would be great for the story (inmy view). Tezuka has been all powerful up until now. He needs to lose sometimes (I mean a fair defeat, not by injuries).

But, it won't be too harsh for him, as he is in doubles. And it will come to Ichizen's game to decide the match. I wanna see how great is this Pinnacle of Perfection battle will be ^^

Either' Taka-san's father shows up and gives him encouragement, or it's one of those I can't play things. Truly I can't see any other way he wins.

But this is by far and large the craziest chapter the manga ever put out. I mean blood sweat tears etc. The first time teamates have ever said you can quit.

In the end I see taka taking super hadouku guy out for sushi!

PoT is taking a completely different turn that I expected.
The Taka-san match isn't just intense as per usual, but brutal.

I can't discuss much other than say this match has gone completely different than usual. I think Akuts is going to give Taka a good pep talk, something like go win or I kill your weak ass. Then Taka will start a comeback until his oponent hurts his arm and a win. Then Inui/Tezuka will get OWNED by the Genius and speed freak, setting up the wonder freshman battle.

Jin Atsuki came back desu! HE CAME BACK FOR HIS OLD BUDDY DESU! I kinda had tears in my eyes when i saw him help Taka-san, he has changed i guess, but it wouldnt be as emotional in the anime now that they've already made Jin a good guy... But gees, that Gin whatsits sure is a scary guy... *gulps* if i were made out of pencil and paper, i would never want to face him. Taka-san got thrown and theres blood all over the place O.o scary desu..... >=D i wonder if Taka will turn and play violent from now on like Jin did (HOHOHO 'high japanese women laughing')

The only way I see Kawamura make a come back is if he enters a special trance like Synchro(for double players) or the "State of Self Actualization" but a new thing for him. As his opponent hasn't even started sweating.

These have been the most insane and bloody chapters of POT, it look like Bleach or sth lol ... What a nice show from Akutsu, i think he'll motivate Kawa to put on a decent fight, but Ishida is too strong, he's like a God of Power tennis, it's more probable to see Kawa LOSING but only after develop new techniques and show sth worthy. I like that idea, because that will make TEZUKA :eyeroll and Inui win hehehe. Echizen no comments, he is the main character :notrust

kangster113
January 05, 2007, 04:21 PM
he's already doing his maximum strength or even above max by doing dash hadoukyuu multiple times. Motivation won't do anything. lol will probably it will cause it's manga. and plus taka san is already very beat up and 0-5. it's impossible, he might win few more games probably. hopefully

Tamiel
January 06, 2007, 11:28 AM
The only way I see for him to win, again, is entering a special trance. Which the mangaka has to create. Because seeing Taka, in a "State of Self Actualization" won't do. Like something that makes you berserk, something for power players. However, he does it wins a few more games like 2 or 3 max, and then Ishida says like: "You are very persistant" and enters the same state and wins the match.

Tamiel -

Babii-Boo
January 07, 2007, 08:41 AM
I really don't know how he's gonna win. He's already 'at his limit' and is losing 0-5. Gin doesn't have any affects from the hadoukyuu at all as he can erase all the power in the ball into a normal ball. Taka-san is recklessly using dash hadoukyuu over 13 times, and is half broken down already! "What are you gonna do Taka-san?" Says Ryuzaki sensei ^^ ("Mada mada dane" says Echizen). I dare say that when it comes to the anime, the episode's going to be bloody.... lucky the manga is black and white.

kadodo
January 11, 2007, 03:23 PM
I think it'll be very hard for Kawamura senpai to make a comeback. As many other people said maybe he'll have to be in State of Self Actualization. However, I think Akutsu being here will play a big role in his comeback.

Hey, I'm a newbie here on the site. I have a question about the Kawamura-Gin match.

What does it mean by styles of Hadokyou? LIke, as in one-arm, two-handed, dash, jump etc...? or does it mean like power levels?

And Taka is going to make a huge attempt to come back with the help of Akutsu and fulfill his middle school tennis dreams. However, he is so worn down he won't be able to win. I say this because Tezuka-Inui pair has to win in doubles and Echizen has to win at singles because...that's just Echizen. And they can't have a team lose 4-1 at nationals.

Tezuka and Inui just can't lose the next match. They most be the ultimate combination with Inui's data tennis/predictions and Tezuka's pure awesomeness, they just cannot lose! :)

Anyways, It's one thing that they made Kawamura stronger and prooved he had became the strongest power player in the nationals. But make him win the match with one shot when it was such a one sided situtation before that was not so good.

Edit:
I actually want to see some Rikkaidai action before they jump to doubles 1, that feels somewhat more interesting than the actual Seigaku match.

cravenight
January 18, 2007, 02:45 PM
Yeah, i really think that tezuka and inui will win so that ryoma will play kontarou after the end of the nations since kontarou is set up as one of ryoma's ultimate test.

ah another match where some one had to quit, taka has too many of those its too predictable.

In the ENglish Viz translation, they changed Drive B to Drive V for Drive Volley. I was like WTF? There's a Drive, A, C, and D, might as well be a B.

And the English dubbed anime is just awful. Ryoma no longer knows Twist Serve, they dubbed it Kick Serve, and Shinji Ibu hits the Twist Serve. Honestly, how do you mistranslate those, the Japanese it Twist Serve and Kick Serve.
