Why did Orochimaru join Akatsuki?

Why would Oro who is more skillful or at least on par with Jiraiya Sensei join an organization whose leader is the junior of his peer?

What abilities does AL posses that he is able to convince so many top level missing nins from each country to join and believe in his organization purpose?:blink

umm Pain isnt the real leader of akatsuki the real leader is Tobi aka Uchia Madara he fought the First Hokage and the valley of the end or something ( im drunk :P )
read chapter 371 i think shows tobi atop madara statue ( facing the first statue )

and i beleive oroch joined becaus ehe thought he could become stronger learn some jutsu gain acesss to resoureces not available to him as an exhiled ninja ie the money and power to form a hidden village etc so he could conduct more experiments into his jutsu's

since pein has seen and recognized oro when they were younger...after hearing upon oro's defect from konoha...pein could have approached oro to join akatsuki...probably becoz its beneficial for both sides...

when was it stated that Oro joined Akatsuki because of Itachi?
I remember he saying that he left because of him, but don't remember about he saying that he joined to go for itachi

if Oro wanted Itachi = he does not need to join the organization
There should be other reason for him joining (maybe for more power or more jutsu)

Oro should have known who the AL is before he join otherwise it makes no sense not knowing your superior was (i see him all akatsuki member report directly to Pein)
however we can not confirm since this is an assumption.

The kid resemble him a little bit, but not the ideology, as we don't know what are Pain's ideology
all we know is that he massacred Hanzou's family and friends, after obliterating him.

pein may not be the real leader, but other than konan and tobi, no one else knows that.

personally, i think oro joined akatsuki because he saw an opportunity to increase his contacts....he wanted to take revenge on konoha so whats better than maybe having a handful of s-ranks by your side....then when he saw itachi was there he knew he could try accomplish his other goal of learning every jutsu but since itachi cut off his arm and thrashed him, he was like f-this!

Pain ideology = as per what he mention during the Akatsuki meeting (the organization 3 goals) which in my opinion, to create war and chaos to the whole world = same with exerting revenge to the people who causes war in Rain country as per Yahiko (the blonde first kid)

I think when Kisame mention to Itachi that he is the sole member of the Uchiha clan, Itachi mention "He's not dead yet" = i think this has a double meaning (could be Sasuke or Madara)
as future events show that both of them is well and alive.

Akatsuki members don't even know Pein's name let alone his identity, chances are Orochimaru had no idea of the age or history of the acting leader of Akatsuki. I assume he definately had no idea about Madara what so ever also. Orochimaru joined akatsuki for the same reason he does almost everything......to gain power, in the form of jutsu....mainly the Sharingan.

Unless Orochimaru went back and kill Yahiko, I think Orochimaru never knew he was working under them. Remember Orochimaru wasn't around when Jiraiya saw Nagato's eyes. The fact that Pain has so many bodies just tells the story of confusion in guessing his true identity.

Orochimaru probably wanted that slice of the cake when and if Akatsuki finally destroys Konoha.

i agree = since Pain was able to switch bodies, no one know who he really is (not rain country shinobi whom Jiraiya interogated or even Akatsuki members= he always appear in the shadow, right?hehe)
means Oro does not know Nagato circle eyes = does Oro ever seen Pain face or eyes? *much unlikely*

However this bring us to another question = how could Jiraiya train 3 students for 3 years without his closest friend, even considered brother knowing anything?
*I guess I just find the fact that 3 of his students are able to develop so fast = hard to believe*

why is he interested in Sasuke who is way weaker than him.
Why would Oro who is more skillful or at least on par with Jiraiya Sensei want Sasuke whose teacher is a teacher(kakashi) of the teacher(Yondaime) of his peer?

Since we are at those stupid unexplained questions, if they wanted Konoha to handle as many Akatsuki as possible, why didn't Oro or Kabuto give Team Yamato the Akatsuki book or at least some infos / hints in the old hideout ? And why didn't Team Yamato plunder the said-hideout ?
Also, I bet it would have been in his best interest to leak infos about Akatsuki in a way his old buddies Jiraiya and Tsunade could have found out.

Orochimaru joined Akatuksi because he was lazy b...., Akatuksi's aim and purpose as said was to collect bijuu and secondly to find and aquire new jutsu's (cant remember were but Jman i think said this). Orochimaru wanted to learn all jutsu that exist, he came to a brick wall early on and realised that life wasn't long enough and time was a factor against him, he made progress by inventing his soul transfer ritual, I believe it was before he joined Akatuksi because Sasori's supposed meeting with his spy on the bridge was to obtain info on the soul Oro takes over, but couldn't Oro placed a seal on it.
He may have took the opportunity to learn as much as he could or learned all he could but it was taking to long and became inpatient due to his ambition to destroy Konoha he decided the fastest way was to get sharingan, Itachi's sharingan, he realised his power and jutsu's were not good enough lost his fight to Itachi and left
So yes I think it was for Itach and jutsu's
