Does anybody know where to get scanlations v.1-13?

Shikamaru86
May 22, 2006, 10:43 PM
You get it at #lurk, on mIRC (irchighway.net). There's already another scanlation group, but maybe we can start from 1 too.

Went ahead and merged the two Yu Yu Hakusho topics together and changed the name of the thread to 14+ scanlations.

Thanks for giving us the link Shikamaru! I have seen the whole anime but I have not been able to read the manga, this gives me some good motivation to do so!

=D

Shikamaru86
May 23, 2006, 05:51 PM
Cool! Read it, it's very good! And the ending is completely different from the animation, there's many more things shown^^

Tamerlane
May 23, 2006, 08:28 PM
Really? I always thought that the anime really kind of ran thru the ending....there were so many things that they did not really go into detail with that were kind of left hanging. I would definetly read the manga if it wrapped up a few loose ends.

If you have any more scanlations when they come out please feel free to share them with us here. I know that I would love that! =D

:amuse

Shikamaru86
May 24, 2006, 12:14 AM
Yeah, but I don't remeber if they wrap all the loos ends, but most of them were covered. And if the anime had the same ending to it like the manga, it would have had at least 4 or 5 more episodes^^

Anyways I just finished the first chapeter of volume 15. Here's the link:

Volume 15 - => Volume 15 - Chapter 1 ( Extreme Urban Battle!!!) (http://rapidshare.de/files/21492888/_S-W__Yuu_Yuu_Hakusho_15.rar.html)

Shikamaru86
May 27, 2006, 01:58 AM
Heheh... well the size is a big deal, so I uploaded a smaller version of it, it's still HQ, and the size is about average with the other complete volumes around, but the other is a little bit more. Anyways I decided to let both links just in case. Well hope you guys like it!^^

P.S. Does anyone knows about a rar\zip compressor that compresses more than 1%!!! :p - That'd be nice! :)

P.S. Does anyone knows about a rar\zip compressor that compresses more than 1%!!! :p - That'd be nice! :)

Try WinRar, if you don't use it already. Only, when you're making an archive, remember to change the Compression Method to Best like so:
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8904/winrarexample2fx.th.png (http://img98.imageshack.us/my.php?image=winrarexample2fx.png)

I think that should work. :amuse

And if you are new to it, don't worry about that whole trial expiring thing. When the trial expires and that thing pops up at the beginning each time you open WinRar, just click Close, and you'll be able to compress your files.

Shikamaru86
May 27, 2006, 06:36 PM
Nice! Thanxs, but it still doesn't compress that much, but it should be enough^^

NeoShweaty
May 27, 2006, 06:49 PM
are you saving to web in photoshop? because you can make it smaller without losing quality especially since the YYH/HxH mangka is pretty simple in terms of his drawings and theer arent alot of greys

Shikamaru86
May 27, 2006, 07:11 PM
I wasn't aware that of that 'till now. Thanks, I'm finishing chapter 02 saving to web. Huge difference!^^

glad to help. I have been interested in seeing how the series ends in the manga ever since i finished the anime, but black-out doesnt really release regularly. Also, i would suggest getting a proofreader. There are some mistakes here and there that one could catch

Shikamaru86

You should zip your releases instead of raring them as well. Rars in most cases will compress more. However, for the most when you save for the web png format the screens, the majority of the compression is done there provided it's done correctly. So there's only a tiny bit left for Winrar or Zipping it to compress. So why you might ask, why zip over rar? Because rar's have problems when you try and read things within them without extracting. Programs like ACDSee can read inside archives, but Rars seem to have a lot of problems and more often than not it'll fail.

Just thought I'd say that. Anyway, it's good to see that a group picked this up, cause I am interested in finding out what happens, and don't really care for Blackout doing it on and off. (I can't really comment quality wise or anything, cause I'm downloading volume 14 as I speak).

Is there another saga after the anime ends?

NeoShweaty
May 28, 2006, 03:55 PM
nope, the series does end there

Shikamaru86
May 28, 2006, 03:55 PM
Not quite, but there's some small stories in the ending. It tell what happens to everyone after the last saga. And a quite different ending.

NeoShweaty
May 28, 2006, 04:00 PM
how is it different? i had the last raw volume and saw that yusuke past out, the king was determined and they went home, how did it turn out different?

Shikamaru86
May 28, 2006, 04:33 PM
Well, ... a lot of spoilers...

well, in the last volume, the last 6 chapters after he faints, they tell the stories about almost everyone on yu yu hakusho, what happends tothem. There's a little side-story of he as a spirit detective, and a last mini-story ending the volume. Many differences from the anime (more spoilers=>) Yuusuke don't spend 3 years out, Genkai dies, Yukina start living with Kuwabara, Kuwabara's Father appear, Yuusuke get a job, Yuusuke's "real" father appear, and more(<=more spoiler ends).

Well, it's different, and in my opnion it should have ended like this in the anime, but oh well^^ :smile-big

P.S. Thanks

NeoShweaty
June 03, 2006, 05:54 PM

Someone should just scanlate the post Three Kings Arc stuff so we can all see the difference between the anime and manga. :smile-big

Shikamaru86
June 05, 2006, 12:23 PM
Well, the Three Kings arc, starts at volume 17. We'll get there in no time, I hope you don't mind that we won't jump off to it now, we decided to keep scanlating in order. But if it helps we're gonna release at least 3 chapters a week a now, so we might get there faster. I just finished the chapter 3 now, and already started doing number 4. I'm releasing 4 later today, and if I get the time, make a double-release, 4 and 5.^^. Oh, and also, we are releasing it in .zip format now, somebody asked, and it actually compressed a little more (thanks someone2040).

NeoShweaty

That isnt up to the regular people to decide (heck, im a mangahelper and i cant). The higher ups can add stuff to the website. For now you have either irc(#lurk has them) or rapidshare

Say, does your group still need a proofreader? Now that it's summer I have some free time, so if there's anything I can do I'd love to help. I do alot of essay and story writing so I have a pretty good grasp on grammar. I've never participated in a scanlation group before though, so you'd have to uh, "show me the ropes," and such... But anyway, thankyou so much for scanlating the rest of YuYu Hakusho! I thought Blackout was NEVER going to get around to do it. :darn

Shikamaru86
June 13, 2006, 07:50 PM
Do you still want to proofread it? My proofreader is a really lazy :p So it would be nice. I'm late this week forthe release... But maybe tomorrow^^

Dranxis
June 13, 2006, 08:02 PM
Sure. I'm pretty nitpicky about grammar and stuff so laziness shouldn't be a problem with me. :) Just PM me when you want me to start working.

NeoShweaty
July 14, 2006, 10:27 AM
actually, null and blackout, i think are doing a joint on it or null is helping blackout out because they are featured on null's site. In fact, that released chapter 7 of YYH recently so they are truckin

siegfried
July 14, 2006, 12:18 PM
really? I looked at the blackout's site and YYH is not in the projects list. what is null's site?they seem to hide it so I couldnt find.

siegfried
July 14, 2006, 12:59 PM
I found the site after searching the google for a bit and they had released volume 14 chapter 7 so far.we already have untill volume 15 chapter 6 here.

although it says project is active.I am not sure about it.maybe they didnt update the website yet.

vensu
July 14, 2006, 03:48 PM
siegfried : I don't know where you went but blackout doesn't have any website anymore unless ghost put it up again without telling me but it would be really strange since he isn't active for months...
About the project itself, NeoShweaty is right, null will now release with blackout and help finishing the manga... Be patient anyway, I'm planning to release by vol after reaching the end of v14

siegfried
July 14, 2006, 04:49 PM
http://blackout-mangas.cjb.net/

I thought this was the site.

anyway if you say you are continuing to scanlate, there is no problem.just I thought the project was dropped.

it is a relief to know that.

Edit:Btw cant you just skip to volume 15 chapter 7 ? since the rest of the volume 14 and first 6 chapters of volume 15 is already scanlated and it is good quality.anyway the decision is up to you.

NeoShweaty
July 14, 2006, 05:19 PM
they might as well scanlate the rest of the volume, and they are releasing in volumes from the end of volume 19 on so they have to redo those chapters anyway. Besides, i think they should scanlate through because they have done this project since volume 8, i think.

vensu
July 16, 2006, 04:13 PM
they are far way readable but not good quality imo... And I dun plan to skip some chaps just because someone else decided to scanlate a manga I do for more than 2years.
NeoShweaty, you're quite right, blackout has done the project since volume8 but I participate to it since volume3 ;)
P.S : I'm not bitching about SW, I'm always glad when I see someone put some efforts in a manga he loves in order to share it.

I don't have a ton of time right now, since I have various other projects I'm working on (along with real life work and things), but I can probably manage a chap every week/2 weeks. @Luckas04: the 30mb version has been compressed more. the 60mb version was relatively uncompressed.

Maybe winterlion should translate the next chapters so that the job is shared. I mean HBK wont possibly translate more than one chapter in one time. You know better but isn't it the more translator the better?

It's more a matter of continuity. Because my style and Hisshou's is very different (if you're ever had a chance to compare our transes, it's extremely clear). So if you have Hisshou transing one chap and then I trans the next one, when you read it continously, it won't flow as well. Some people don't mind that, others do.

@VOID If you need an extra trans. Let me know. I'll fit it in if at all possible.

Now I see the point. Well I never minded about different translators (I read Naruto from different translators each week) but I agree maybe some people would be bothered about it.it is Void to decide anyway. Thanks for your explanation.

@vensu

I am not trying to criticize you or say anything so take no offence but when your group decided to redo the chapters that SW already did, that was the same sentence in my mind. well looking from a leecher's point of view(which is me) I will surely cheer Shiraku for continuing.

Let me clear about it... I didn't decide to REDO others' chapters. I already posted about it so I'll say it again: Why would I have a gap between my releases? Because S-W decided to speed up the releases with crapiest quality...?!

Heh, I've never visited this thread before, but I note SOMEBODY used to be frustrated that he couldn't upload manga to our old FTP server. Not that it matters anymore since the FTP is dead, but PMing would have solved that problem ;)

Anyway, nice to see YYH is getting some love. Good luck with this project.

Um... http://www.mangatraders.com/ has the first fifteen volumes. You don't have to download anything like mIRC (which I've had for a year and still can't work), but you do have to sign up to download. That's not much of a problem, though. ^_^

(and if its IRC write a guide plz im a totally IRC nub :P)

the best regards mr99cm

You seem rather uninformed. Rather than an IRC nub, wouldn't someone more likely call you a manga nub? Or perhaps an internet nub?! Don't use plz ever, and I personally hate the word nub.

www.stoptazmo.com has the manga through vol 17 chapter 3, nothing past vol 17. chapter... 5 or so? You can find up to whatever has been scanlated on #lurk, but as for that guide, NO, I will not give you one, just google search for mIRC and they'll have one. The official #lurk website, www.gotlurk.net probably has one too, or a link to one.

NO ONE has scanlated vol 18 or 19, or the last chapter of 17. Don't ask for a while.

And you've noticed that most people on this site use you instead of u, right? We speak properly here. Unless you wish to go back to 4chan, of course. *shudders*

But seriously, who would WRITE a guide at a single person's request?! You're being so irrational about this. "Direct" me to a guide or something to that effect would have cut at least half of the insults up to this point. (I'll consider zomg acceptable, because it's used as more of a joke than anything else) There are also several other grammatical errors in your post too obvious to explain....

I read all nearly all chapters (including the ones that were released for America, which I think is 11 for now). Most of the others ones (mainly between 12, and the one after they meet Genkai in that weird mansion thing (and I stopped the one that discuss about the yunnel because I want to see that part but since I cant find it that easily I'll probably read/cont. it). I'm upto volume 16 because I skipped some parts. Anyway, thanks for the links

You can download the volumes 1-15 each in single archive and all 10 chapters of Volume 16 (the last chapter of volume 16 was uploaded yesterday, they haven't been combined just yet.) through irc. Visit http://www.gotlurk.net for info on how to download the manga from them.

Chapters 148-154, 157, and 158 are also available through there. These are Chapters 1-6, 9, and 10 of volume 17 btw.

You probably noticed that 155 and 156 are missing...well for whatever reason those two are missing from gotlurk.net's packlist. I got them straight from the translator at http://rycolaa.com/manga-projects/yu-yu-hakusho/ he has chapters 154-158 translated only though.

So far i have been unable to find ANY translations for Volumes 18 and 19. But atleast i have the complete volumes of 1-17!! yay

Urgh, you know whats so fucking stupid? Effin Viz is taking forever with their YYH releases. Its like 2 or 3 books a year. Naruto and Bleach get WAY more than that! Its not like its that hard to translate, especially with the rate at which they release other titles, but it just seems like theyre REALLY milking it. From the publishing dates, it looks like we won't get the final volume until early 2010. Pricks.

The anime was able to fill up the last tournament more, and everything seemed to last a lot longer.
Though the extra parts in the manga, the little one-chapter stories, were really cool, I wish the anime had put that in instead of their ending.
Course, if Togashi hadn't had to rush the final tournament and end it right in the middle, who knows how it would've gone.
Course, now in Hunter Hunter he's had 10 chapters taking a total of 10 seconds to pass.

Man, this is an oooooold threat lol. Anyways, I had a couple of questions about the manga and anime which I hoped would be answered here.

Mostly my questions are about the power levels stated in the manga. Closing to the end of the manga we saw a number of characters who had s-class power. Now, in the manga the s-class was not defined as A, B, C or D class were, it simply refered to creatures which had power which the spirit world could not handle. Now, these are a few of the numbers which we saw in the manga regarding the amount of youki a number of characters had.

Yomi: 1'550,000
Raizen: 1'322,000
Mukuro: 1'575,000
Sachi: 37800
kirin: 89500
Hokushin: 36000
Kurama: 152000 (as youko)
Tournament guys: over 100000 points and increasing.
Yura: Yomi expected him to reach 500000
yusuke: as strong as yura apparently
hiei: at some point heie mentioned having about as much power as yusuke.
Shigure: Less than kirin considering kirin was the second hand of mukuro and shigure was the weakest in her army.

Anyways, yusuke was already an S-class fighter when he first met hokushin yet hokushin made it clear he was his equal at the time. If we consider this page (http://www.mangafox.com/manga/yu_yu_hakusho/v18/c163/7.html) it would even seem like hokushi was actually the stronger one. The guys from the tournament had over 100000 points of power which is 3 times the power sachi had and more than what mukuro's second hand before hiei had.

Now, for my questions:
Why did the anime refer to the tournament guys as being A class? Even the anime showed the above numbers which would make it painfully obvious they were S-class. They would still be at least 10 times weaker than the main candidates (since they were equal or greater to yomi) to win the tournament but but they were in fact s-class. How in the hell did yusuke last 60 hours against yomi? Or is the anime version actually considered cannon or something of the sort? Why did kurama say he had so much trouble against shigure in the manga? In the manga he said he wasn't sure of how he managed to win against shigure however the numbers would suggest kurama had at least twice as much power as shigure and it should have continued to grow during the following 6 months until the tournament. Was any of these ever addressed in some databook or something or was togashi simply rambling in the manga when he drew this?

kkck, I think those are just power level potholes. Especially if you are watching the dub. Trust the manga first, I'd say the Tournament guys (friends of Raizen right?) are all S class. Yomi says it in the anime too "powers close to mine" (at least in the dub). With Shigure, its been some time right? I am assuming his power has gotten stronger since we first met him. Also, in the anime Kurama didn't even want to use Yoko, so perhaps he did that in the manga too? Cool to see people still post in the Yu Yu Hakusho thread.

kkck
April 20, 2012, 02:34 PM
man, that is an old post lol Anyways, the reason for which I asked if the anime part was cannon for some stuff is that the manga plainly did not show it. If we assume the manga makes sense then we can infer a few things. Also, by the tournament guys I mean the guys who kurama trained for yomi's army (not the makai tournament lol). Raizen's friends would have had around 1500000 power anyways, not 100000.

yusuke was at around hokushin's level when he first went to makai. We do have to consider that after training hokushin said their roles were reversed so perhaps hokushin during that time was actually a decent bit stronger than yusuke although that could also have been attributed to yusuke initially not having much control over his power (as was the case against sensui). Anyways, if we assume yomi's son reached the level yomi expected we can assume the kid actually had a respectable 500000 power. That is roughly 5 times what kurama's trainees had and apparently what yusuke had. Now, if we assume yusuke was indeed at yura's level then we would see that at least in terms of spiritual energy yomi should actually be more than able to overwhelm yusuke which in this particular manga is an overwhelming deal to say the least. In this regard a 60 hour fight which left yomi weakened for his nexts fights would seem unlikely, he should hypothetically be able to school yusuke as much as he did yura. Heck, 100 days before (admittedly yusuke should have been weaker back then however that does not have an effect over the facts given during the tournament) the tournament yomi was pretty sure he would have been able to defeat yusuke, kurama and the gang using but a third of his power.

Kurama objectively had over 150000 power when he killed yomi's number 2 and yet when he fought shigure who was the weakest of yomi's personal army he supposedly had enough trouble to make him wonder how in the hell he won. Not only kurama had over 5 times that guy's power 9 months before the tournament but he also should have had time to grow stronger too.

This is why I ask if the anime was considered cannon for this battles. None of it makes sense. If we assume the anime is actually cannon about how each of these fights went on then things would kinda make sense however if we assume it is not cannon then the manga is essentially nonsensical to say the least. The manga never hinted at yusuke being able to use any form of seikoki or kurama having issues with transforming into yoko either.

About the manga, I think I prefer how it begins due to all of Yusuke's misadventures, though I prefer the anime when it comes to the ending. I think this might of the few cases in which I prefer the anime over the original manga.

I feel the same way ^^ I loved the manga, but it definitely has, at least imo, the worst ending ever...especially considering it was his choice (as far as I'm aware) and not out of his control via cancellation. Plus the anime was my favorite as a kid so I'm extremely biased. (I own it all on dvd :D)

I never liked either ending.... With either it kinda felt like there was more story to tell and it ended abruptly and unsatisfyingly.

I think it's about choosing which one is less unsatisfying. In this case, the anime adaptation seems wrapped the series neatly compared to the manga.. even though I'm not really a fan of both either. But still, one needs to admit that it's a classic that everyone should read at least once.
