i don't even know if agri-chan reads gantz.

So?...she could have still seen the User Title. :oh

She doesn't have to understand it to have seen it, but maybe it would be more memorable to a Gantz reader. :imslow

Sorry Babs, I have missed the question! xD

Although we had a strong identity over the 60's-70's, with all the concrete shells and brutalist style, and also a very rich colonial baroque architecture highly influenced by our portuguese roots, things got kinda..."diluted" now. Guess it's like this all over the world nowadays >.<

you know, I deleted my CAD from my PC right after thesis because I just wanted to get rid of the thing. and then my mom gets all depressed that she couldn't have her very own house (since my dad was getting impatient and thought of buying some predesigned house). so I thought I should design her one, but I realized all my archi stuff are gone from my PC!

I actually did everything manually, up to the very minute details. and since i'm living in a different island, i could only show her the plans like, rarely. so far she's seen them once (she loves it) but there are revisions of course. So...

I'm frantically looking for a CAD installer. I lost mine -_-; I don't think I'd go through the manual thing again. it feels like first year college all over again.

nothing. i just wanted to rant. -_____________-
[hr]
btw, the 2nd set looks nice, Agri-chan. I love that detail- are those structural or what?

and wait, wasn't oscar niemeyer the one who loved to use wood and steel with curvy fiber glass stuff? i think there was a whole book about every one of those he made. or was it some other architect? -_-; i forget these things.

While it's impossible to start a project on cad directly and I sure love my sketching time, I agree that making it as a whole without cad is kinda sadistic and so last decade, as cute as it may look. xD

And about the installer...no comments >D

btw, the 2nd set looks nice, Agri-chan. I love that detail- are those structural or what?
Nope, just short bridges between buildings. I love the "windows", so...raw.

No way! He's known as "the concrete master", he uses nothing but concrete on everything. They look nice, but kinda expensive to build nowadays - the concrete shells need some giant wooden molds (dunno if that's the right word :p) to be built.

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bChYUhvoIYc

In the beginning he wants the audience to sing along but they're not loud enough. He let's the ladies sing first, then the men, and decides that the men are the culprint. So he says that he counts on the ladies but in the end (when he screams the 'ey'), he says that he has to do it alone ^^;

Wir schwingen unser linkes Bein
behende aus dem Bett,
der Bettvorleger gibt uns Schwung
bis direkt vors Klosett.
Und wo wir schon mal da sind,
da bleib'n wir gleich hier,
Hah, fertig . . . Wo ist das Papier?

Guten Morgen liebe Sorgen,
seid ihr auch schon alle da?
Habt ihr auch so gut geschlafen?
Na, dann is' ja alles klar.

Die eifrigsten sind unsere Japanischen Gaeste,
will ich Ihnen nur mal sagen...

Wenn ein Tag so wunderschön beginnt
ist alles drin:
Heute bleibt die Dusche kalt,
das Wasserrohr ist hin.
Wir gleiten auf den Fliesen aus
und prellen uns den Steiß,
als Krönung schmeckt der Kaffee heute
irgendwie nach Schweiß.

Die Zeitung ist geklaut, was solls,
die schreiben eh nur Dreck.
Ein Zettel auf dem Tisch - für mich?
Aha, die Frau ist weg...
Mit meinem Auto, meinem Hund,
dat nennt die nun Liebe.
Die Pornosammlung hat 'se auch.
Gelegenheit macht Diebe.

Guten Morgen liebe Sorgen,
seid ihr auch schon alle da?
Habt ihr auch so gut geschlafen?
Na, dann ist ja alles klar.

Ich trink mir einen, steig in's Auto
trete voll aufs Gas.
Entenjagen macht besoffen
doppelt so viel Spaß.
"Wieso hat der vor mir jetzt
'ne Vollbremsung gemacht?"
... denke ich noch so bei mir.
Und dann wird es Nacht.

Ich werde wach, vor meinem Bett,
steht ein alter Mann.
Sagt: "Sie hatten einen Unfall."
Und grinst mich blöde an.
Ich sach: „Wieso hab ich eigentlich,
noch das Steuer in der Hand?"
Er meint: "Mh mh, das wird in Engelskreisen,
Harfe genannt.

Guten Morgen liebe Sorgen,
seid ihr auch schon alle da?
Habt ihr auch so gut geschlafen?
Na, dann ist ja alles klar.We swing our left leg,
nimbly out of the bed,
the bedside rug bounces us
till directly in front of the toilet.
And while we're already here,
we decide to stay,
Hah, done... where's the paper?

Good morning, dear worries,
are you all here already, too?
Did you also sleep so well?
Fine, then everything's ok.

The most eager ones are our Japanese guests,
I just wanted to tell you...

If a day starts so nicely,
then everything is included:
The shower stays cold today,
the water pipe is broken.
We slip on the tiles
and bruise our rump,
to top it all, the coffee tastes today
somehow like sweat.

The newspaper was stolen, who cares,
they only write crap anyways.
A note on the table – for me?
Aha, the wife is gone...
With my car, my dog,
that's what she calls love.
She took the porn collection too,
opportunity makes thiefs.

Good morning, dear worries,
are you all here already, too?
Did you also sleep so well?
Fine, then everything's ok.

I have a booze, enter my car,
step fully on the gas.
Hunting ducks is, when you're drunk,
the double amount of fun.
"Why did the one in front of me
an emergency stop right now?"
... I still think by myself,
and then it's getting dark.

I wake up, in front of my bed,
stands a old guy.
Says: „You had an accident.“
And stupidely grins at me.
I say: „Why do I still have,
the steering wheel in my hand, anyhow?“
He says: „No no, in angel circles,
this is called a harp.“

Good morning, dear worries,
are you all here already, too?
Did you also sleep so well?
Fine, then everything's ok.

Try Hope for the Flower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope_for_the_flowers)s by Trina Paulus. It's one of my top 5 books ever. and you can finish it in an hour.

also, The Giving Tree (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Giving_Tree), The Missing Piece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Missing_Piece_%28book%29), and The Lion Who Shot Back (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafcadio:_The_Lion_Who_Shot_Back). I was thinking of scanning their illustrated lyrics book which should be an easy read for a German beginner, especially when you listen to the songs at the same time. The lyrics are drawn as comics (while keeping the text 1:1) and some are really amazing, art- and storywise.

So Lina was given the task by the Magic Guild to infiltrate a noble's household, suspected of being the base for a group of bandits. Thus she got hired here as a maid. It happened that Naga was working here as a maid, too, after the resident ojou-sama, Daisy, helped her out when Naga noticed she lost her wallet after a huge lunch at the local restaurant. When Lina sent Naga flying with a corkscrew punch when the latter was about to blow her cover, Daisy fell in love with her. And tried to force her way on Lina by paralyzing her.

Slayers x Maid x Yuri. Did I die and is this heaven? Nope, that's the second story of Slayers Select v02 :shakefist (damn, those are hilarious xD)

Hey ya :) I'm working working and working, and playing TF2 when I have time :3 Also trying to learn german...

I don't play soccer, in fact, i don't play anything ^^;
Although liking soccer is as natural as breathing here, it's still seen as a sport for man....the women's teams are still small and don't have any support from anyone - we only get to know they're still playing when they win an important championship (and they do win a lot >D). Then they get some seconds of highlight, just to disappear again...

So well, while guys play soccer at school, girls are used to play handball, basketball or volleyball instead. I did play a few matches here and there though, but it was a complete disaster...

....wait, i'm a living disaster in every sport. >.>

And if I think we'll win the World Cup? Of course. >D We're currently on the confed cup! The final is gonna be on sunday, against USA. =3

eni

It's the very same here with football. Totally dominated by guys although our women teams are actually really good. But I can't say that I mind. Even as a female myself, I have no interest in woman's football at all.

Though, one difference is surely that football gets played at school by just everyone here. At least in my region. I always had much fun to play football at school :3

Agrias
June 27, 2009, 07:35 PM
We also get to play it at school, but the teachers don't give it as much emphasis as they do for the guys xD
Boys love to watch girls playing school football, as it's decribed as an awesome comedy show - we're used to kick each other's legs more than the ball itself, and the screaming sessions are epic >.>

eni
June 27, 2009, 07:53 PM
Really? :XD

During school, they don't differ much between the gender here. You either like playing football or not and there are plenty of guys who hate it and plenty girls who love it. Our class had a very strong female players and we regulary won the school cup :3

Ah, sweet memories :sweat

Work sounds busy, and what's TF2? Brazil is the champion of soccer so no doubt most people in Brazil love it. And don't worry if sport isn't exactly your "forte", it's good exercise and mainly for enjoyment,

Probably, someday, when they get it on Steam for $10 >.> I only have L4D because destinator is a wonderful guy and bought it to me (<3), and I only managed to get the Orange Box (TF2, Portal, Half Life 2) because they had a huuuuuuuuuge deal on a supermarket here (they were selling it for the price of HL1 hoho - $6 <.<) *is poor*

Portuguese is more classy, of course. xD[/biased]
They're similar, but not as much as many people tend to assume. I can read spanish and understand a bit, but I wouldn't be able to write or speak anything. And hm...tons, and i mean tons, of false cognates. xD

still so much time ;_;

(and right after I made that, I was taking a look at my Orkut profile, and it showed this:
Today's fortune: Don't count every hour in the day. Make every hour in your day count.

Being that I have a german test and tons of work due to tomorrow, it made me feel quite bad.

But i'm still here procrastinating, though! xD)

Beauty is rather subjective.. So to further this question without it getting ugly. So your basically saying that 60% of women ages 18-35(the only demographic that matters) do not look like Adrianna Lima. Or rather look completely opposite from her and thus unattractive?

Actually, I'd say that there's easily a 75% possibility that they do but only a minority of those know how to wear makeup :oh
http://i35.tinypic.com/qyal2v.jpg

The majority of girls in nearly every country would look like pro models when they would get similar treatment for the body. Celebrities are paid for looking good, so they obviously invest a lot into it. But take a look at them when caught off guard during a slacking phase and they're just as ordinary as every other girl who's doing some sports and basic health care.

Even the pic above is still not a 'raw image' of how she'd look regularly. My own mother didn't recognize me once just because I couldn't plug my eyebrows for a while due to a wrist injury. Such tiny things make major differences in looks.

Thank you agrias your the only one who knows the truth..Only those in the 40% can truly tell.

On another note, if they aren't in your city where are the 40%.

I think that typically there are high concentrations of certain demographics. My assumption is that there are high concentrations in major cities. So would you say there is a high concentration of the 40% of beautiful women in Sao Paulo?

All. Seriously, I can't decide. I'm a "distant" football fan :P I support Flamengo and Ceará (2 brazilian teams), but I seldom watch the games - only finals or matches against famous or long-time rivals. xD
But when the national team is playing in a big tournament, like the World Cup or the Olympic games, I always get in the mood and turn fanatic (like the rest of the country xD). Really, the country gets wild when it's World Cup year...people are preparing already :3

Well, yeah, there's nothing special about Amsterdam, for tourists it's awesome. I mean, you can get drugs and whore's legally, but that's it. The architecture is the same in most big city's, besides that Amsterdam is too fucking expensive, besides some monumental things, Den Haag etc. can offer you the same.

Although I think that Amsterdam is a place you must've visited once in your life. I visited it a couple of times now, one to just be there and the other time's were for business purposes.

I've never been to Delft, Den Haag and Leuven before, I've been through it.. You know, with the train and all, but I've never visited them properly.

Didn't you go to Maastricht or Utrecht? Both worth visiting too.

Europe. :p

In my defense, I'm tired of sun. Really. We've had it for years and we usually only have it....always. And today on radio they said that they were expecting 36c in the weekend. YAAAAAAAAAY. xD

Oh you say that now, but after having snowstorms for weeks you may change your mind. Careful of what you wish :p

I can see how you get tired of the sun though. People tend to want something different than what they got. Me for example, I'd rather have sun as I get tired of the winter in Norway. Snow is fine, but 2 months is enough, then I want summer again. That's why I love Portugal (where my father lives) as it's sunny, hot and well, it's what I'm made for. Not this cold snowy country :amuse

I have a love/hate relation to winter I guess. Skiing is alot of fun, easily the best part of winter.

How come you live in the Netherlands and doesn't know all of it? It's so small, the entire country is smaller than my city! Gogogogo!

I wanted to visit more places, but time was short..

(trying to pronounce "Utrecht" was a lot of fun though (and embarassment too <.<).

At least you have 4 different seasons. :p We only have different levels of scorching sun all year long, it gets tiresome after years and years of non-stop baking.

In my city, it never gets under 23ºc (and that's considered cold weather here, usual stuff is 27~30ºc, during summer a bit more). I guess you have to live here to understand how annoying it is (at least for those like me, that aren't fond of beaches...the rest doesn't seem to mind... T___T). The most ridiculous part...here people sometimes refer to summer as "winter", you know why? Because it rains a lot, and those usual 5 precious minutes of water falling from the sky are considered "cold weather". >.>'

And I loved the cold weather, even when I was suffering. xD I'm so envious of you guys now. :~

Portugal hm? Go to the portuguese thread to put this portuguese in use with us for a change. :3

Yeah well, if I do it fast, it still takes me 6 hours to go to the top of the country. I live at the bottom, lulz. But I don't care about traveling so I don't do much of it anyway. I've visited 80% of Germany though, haha.

You should try "Scheveningen" then. Back in World War II the dutch used it to recognize German (or other foreign) infiltrants and such. :p

Even I can't pronounce it like it should been. But then again, I'm not 100% dutch.

Haha, I'm horrible at writing portuguese Agrias :)

I never learned to write the language, so the little I know I basically learned from reading subtitled movies/series in Portugal aswell as reading some articles there in the newsparers. I can write abit, but it's often horrible, haha. I understand most writing though as long as it's not too complicated. I grew up there, but moved before starting at school, so I never had any portuguese education.

Well I can understand you somewhat I guess as I lived in Portugal. It's pretty damn hot there too. Though it's not as hot as Brazil, it often drops down to 10ºc in the winter. But in Norway it's completely different. Sometimes it rains ALOT, and honestly it sucks. You don't go outside because you get too soaked, it's horrible. And snow is fine, but I think 2 months is more than enough :p

The perfect year would be if one could have summer for 4 months > instant change to snowy winter for 2 months > Summer 4 months > Snowy winter 2 months. It would be a year full of great variation :)

I had lots of fun, can't wait to go again! Saving money already xD

People are more organized up there, it feels like things work...the trains, for example: they are always on time; when they're late, you know it too, there's info everywhere :3 The stations are cool, everything is tidy..here everything is chaotic xD

We also have this impression that people from europe are more cold and reserved, but I didn't find this at all..Of course they're not as open as we are, but I was treated very well everywhere and everyone was helpful ^^

But the prices.....ugh. Damn euro, I'm so broke now (and I'll still be broke for a looong time ;_;)

Btw, trains being on time is a rather bold statement, especially in Norway. Our trains are late so often in the winter months that it's an eternal joke season about the train company. I don't know?
The purpose of that area is to have fun discussing random, impossible stuff - and yet some people prefer to waste their precious time defending random facts, to prove useless points that wouldn't even be of much importance in the story. To make it worse, some of those encounters probably won't ever happen in the manga.
It's totally fictional, but people will discuss it with such intensity that it looks like every argument was a stone thrown against their mothers or something. I don't really get it. Crazy people. Too much free time, i guess...

Any artists you look up to? That might influence your own work/ideas?
Too broad of a question. My favourite architect are Oscar Niemeyer and Santiago Calatrava, fav artists are Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol,Roy Lichtenstein, and many others. :3

Wow, I think your project was quite impressive to be honest! It's not the most real looking thing out there, but hey that's not the point either. The point is the illustration and presentation, and it looks neat! I'd love to see your "best" work sometime!

But why Sweden btw? Norway is much better! But I got to admit, neither countries are that job-friendly towards immigrants that don't know the language, sadly.
Thanks ^^
I tried applying to NTNU, they required a bank statement saying that I had a ton of money even before applying. Tried the quota scheme, but I'm not related to their partner universities... :/ I applied to KHiB last year, wasn't accepted. -.- Trying again. xD

Is it hard getting accepted in Norway? I mean, was it beacuse you weren't economically covered, or was it because of grades? Sorry if I'm asking, I'm just curious ;>

I only tried once to KHiB, so no idea. They analyzed my portfolio, and now looking at it one year later, I must admit it sucked. So I guess that was the reason, even though they didn't say exactly why I wasn't accepted. xD

They also didn't have many places, so I wasn't optmistic since the start. -_-'

NTNU is the most hardcore school in Norway, so it's no shame not getting in there really. I think the only school that can compete in terms of grade requirement would be NHH (economics school). I am curious about your mentioning of NTNU requiring a bank statement that says you have lots of money though, what's up with that? It's not a private school so could you possibly have misunderstood the requirement regarding the money requirement? I could have possibly misinterpreted your post though, but it sounded like they needed you to pay up. As for your question Blai; It's hard to get a spot in architecture studies in Norway, very hard. I tried myself but failed because of lack of grades, sadly. Because design and architecture is really what I like most and have most "talent" in. Other than that engineering is pretty hardcore, and economics comes behind those two more or less (out of the "popular" choices).

They ask foreigners to proof that they have money to keep living there without a job, not actually for the school....and it's a LOT of money for brazilian standards. ;_;

Arent there any uni exam in Norway? We have "högskoleprovet" and if you get a good result there, you only need to pass your subjects in high school because they accept you based on that exam :d That's what I'm planning on doing :d

Not for the master level, they analyze the grades and portfolio...but i dont remember seeing Herm take an exam either ._.

Yeah, they just based it on your grade average from High School here.

Oh I see. Yeah that sucks... Especially because Norway is among the world's most expensive countries, if not the most expensive country, so naturally it's pretty expensive over here. Is there no way for you to get some support from Brazil in some way? Or perhaps those support amounts are only given for exchange-periods and/or cooperation between the universities. It's really crap that big amounts of money should end up being the wall that hinders people from studying in my opinion.

LSE have a good relationship with NTNU from what I've seen when I went to their inductions and interviews. It pains me to say this but they actually accepted me but I declined.

There are schools that don't give a shit about grades though, and that accept you solely based on acceptance-tests. A few years ago I checked out an architecture school in Oslo that follows that system, but the test was really hard so I didn't even attempt it in the end. Then again, it's not in Trondheim, where Hermie studies ;\ My memory might fail me, but I'm pretty sure that school only judged you based on the test, which was a test with two major tasks.

What makes me angry is that NTNU doesn't let you even *try* to get a spot in the quota scheme (the financial support for foreigners) if you're not a member of the partner schools. -_- My grades are not bad, I feel I'd have a chance. :/

I tried asking my parents to back me up with the money, then going there and trying to get a job to cover up...this plan works for Sweden, but not for NTNU, that asks for the statement before applying. It's a lot more difficult to convince your parents to lend you money if you're not even approved yet (the money has to be in your personal account, not in someone else's).

And I'm scared of trying this for Sweden, as odds say that i won't get a job there. -__-

there are tons of jobs that you can take in sweden, but they aren't all pretty and glamorous.

Is it a problem having the money in your account though? Can't you simply transfer it back if you don't get accepted? It's not like you'll run away with the money xD It's certainly a shame if you have the grades to back you up aswell as the ambition, but lack the money to go through with it.

@Blai: Same goes for Norway.

^ All the Uni cares (primarily) about is being guaranteed payment. That's why they need proof from your actual bank account; so they're satisfied. Plus, you need to reassure them that you are financially able/comfortable during your stay in another country to sudy. Something like that anyway.

Unis are free in Sweden hoo-ray! They only care if you have money enough to make a living when youre a transfer student

Convincing them to lend me the money is the problem xD If I were accepted 1st, maybe that would mellow their hearts? xD

I know the jobs aren't the best, but I was reading tons about it and it seems even the worst jobs are now difficult to find ._.

Oh I see. Yeah I guess that would be more mellowing indeed! I got no idea if you parents are rich or not though, and how big the amount would need to be. If it wouldn't hurt them then just "lending" you the money wouldn't hurt that much as you would give it back if you would be declines xD It's probably easy for me to say though as I know absolutely nothing about those issues.

Costs like 800kr($120+) per semester in Norway. So it's not that costly compared to other countries really. Of course books add up.

We're not rich nor poor...comfortable, but more poor than rich indeed. xD It's a ton of money, and it scares me a bit to think "wow, what if i end up without a job and can't pay them back?" >.<

The law was approved already, it was even announced everywhere...unless you guys can revert that, dunno how it works over there. There are gonna be tuition fees, but they'll offer more scholarships. No one knows how many and what they'll cover though...a scholarship that covers only the tuition fees is good as nothing in my case >.>

Sweden used to offer scholarships for Brazil, they've cut them this year. ;_;
