If only =/ thats hardly as low as I would rate the HM arc, sadly there really is only 5-6 mangas that I actually think are good in SJ anaymore. Bleach isn't going to be dropped as long as Kito keeps giving us great art ontop of fast action and big boobs.

well either way Mx0 is kinda like negima reversed and that what holds it back somewhat i think it was the same feeling i had when i started with the series,but allong the line i've got more and more intrested,i'm guesing that most people in japan gave up on it along the way.

Iwashiro Toshiaki (new serie) -> I am so glad, the mangaka behind mieru hito (great art, story was decent but could have been better) gets a new chance for a new serie. His art is so great (reminds me a bit of bleach x dragonball z)

But yeah, this is probably the first new series that I've anticipated to this degree.

Look at the scans of issue 52's preview for issue 2008-01. Kylara scanned them for me and I added them to the WSJ Scan Dump thread here (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1394). Shows some art and info of PSYREN. It also show's a new series starting in issue 2 called K.O.SEN, Muddy will be getting it's own run starting in Issue 3 and a new series titled, Shiritsu Mesopotamia Gakuen will start in issue 4-5. This is exciting news, but it also means that at least two more series will be ending their run aside from Belmonde, P2!, and HxH going on hiatus again.

Well, the pics can't tell you much about the story though there's some note or something like that in one picture. Imo the female chracter looks more confident and better than the one in mieru hito, and maybe with a young manly protagonist and a very good story I am looking forward to this. This is just somebody predicting how the new series will be developing in the magazine. :) Normally, the new series do not rank in with the existing series on the ToC as they're arranged by the editors as they see fit. It takes 6-8 weeks for the polls to come in and affect the ranking.

I have no clue Asa. I do think that at least two more series will need to end or go on hiatus in order for the magazine to stay the same size though. Belmonde ended, and HxH went on hiatus so that takes care of Psyren and K.O.Sen...but now Muddy has started and next issue will be another one (formely Mesopotamia Gakuen or something?).

Actually, you forgot about P2; but that still doesn't explain the 3-5 trade. I DID hear that Gakuen is going to be a series with only a few amount of pages but it's still a new series which means more pages.



P.S. Hatsukoi was never a replacement for a less-popular series. Also, with that being said, it was the same for HxH's return wasn't it? So that means HxH going on hiatus again didn't really count in the first place.


A 2-6 trade...

It seems the most series in WSJ at any one time is 22. When there are 22 series in the magazine, at least one is ending and at most one is starting though. So the normal number is 21 it seems.

BoBoBo ended in issue 31, in which there were 21 series (not counting Claymore). In issue 32 Hitomi no Catoblepas started and Blue Dragon ended (21 series). In issue 33 Sket Dance started (21 series). So that's two series ending and two series starting.

In issue 39 Volleyball Tsukai ended (21 series) and in issue 40 Hitomi no Catoblepas ended (20 series). This is around when some former MSJ series other than Claymore started appearing in WSJ. Also the Golden Cup OneShots were also running in the magazine around this time.

Hatsukoi started in issue 44 (21 series) and in issue 45 HxH restarted (22 series). So far it's even here. 3 new series started and 3 series ended(not counting HxH coming back and going on hiatus again).

Belmonde ended in issue 51 (21 series), and P2 "ended" in issue 52 (20 series). So that's 3 new series started and 5 series ending.

Psyren started in issue 1 of 2008 (21 series). HunterXHunter went on hiatus again and K.O.Sen started in issue 2 (21 series). So that's 5 new series started and 5 series ending.

In the most recent issue, issue 3, Muddy started (22 series). So 6 new series ended and 5 series ending since issue 2007-31.

Since new another series is starting in 4-5, at least one other series has to end the way I see it since it'll be 23 series in one magazine (not counting off single off weeks). If there's another new series in 6-7, that'll make 24 (not counting single off weeks). So 2-3 series will need to end to keep the amount of series at 21-22 per the usual.

Yes, it's true. The actual publication dates of WJ is always (+/- a few days depending on weekends):

So, people who get their magazines early will do so around a few days before those dates. The only exception is the #06-07 issue. It ships to the store well before the new year which is a big holiday in Japan, so people who get their magazines early will get it the usual time a week after the #04-05 issue. I hope that makes sense. ^^;

Certainly that would be lame if they do that (it's the true goal in the manga). But on the other hand current match isn't finished and the Christmas bowl won't be directly after this final match (maybe another training arc, friendly matches arc you can't know) and...

Finally went to pick up my WJ issue (#04-05) and figured out the numbers on the front cover. LOL It's not for tracking. In fact, it's related to the coloured illustration cards Asakura's interested in. XD The numbers are used for winning certain prizes.

WJ will publish the winning numbers in the following issue. Check the winning numbers (match both colour and number) against the one printed in the white box on your cover. If it matches, cut it out, paste the number on a postcard, and send it to Shueisha to redeem your prize.

The prizes include the 23 coloured illustration cards pictured inside, and other Jump Festa and Jump-related goods. All together, there are about 2000 winners possible, but only 23 will get the cards (1 each).

PoT is at the final stage, last game, etc so no more excuses this is the end
Muhyo to rouji has been on the lowest position for three weeks. They'll prolly give the author the time to end it decent
Yuusha is a stupid comedy manga that makes no sense. Something that makes no sense can be stopped easily (like maison de penguin) + there's posseidon as no sense comedy manga now

and no, its not a harem. each set of characters have their love interests, and the closest to harem is the occasional love triangle. it focuses on a different girl of the group with each story, and usually rotates. sometimes they stick at it, like with the christmas story.

The way it seems, Psyren is the only one of the new series that has a chance of getting past chapter 20. Which is a bit of a shame, because I sort of like Muddy. I can easily see why people wouldn't though. And D. Gray-man is so low I'm scared. The pace has been kind of slow recently, and with small chapters coming... Either Hoshino is about to take a break again, or D. Gray-man fans everywhere are about to be annoyed by Shueisha.

I don't say it had a successful run, but you must agree it was dropped later then everyone expected (It was if you could gamble on it, being certain when it would be dropped though everyone would have lost his money). If I am correct an end in akamaru jump has recently appeared and it was dropped though not being in the danger zone for a while (maybe it got to do with volume sell and yeah you could say it's not a successful run)

Sket dance hasn't been in lower rankings as long as P2 was back then and mx0 (don't remember that but I am happy it's getting out of that danger zone)

Death Note Manga to Return with One-Shot Story in Japan

This year's 11th issue (on sale on February 11) of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will publish a special standalone short story for Tsugumi Ooba and Takeshi Obata's Death Note manga in Japan. The announcement was made in the current issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which was released on Monday. The 44-page story with color insert will describe an event after the end of the original series — specifically, the case of a new Kira. The return of the Death Note manga will mark the February 9 opening of L change the WorLd, the spinoff based on the two Death Note live-action films. The original run of the manga lasted from December of 2003 to May of 2006 in Japan, and Viz Media has released all twelve volumes in North America.

Happy: Gray getting back high and psyren doing well at the moment (it's new and with a very good story popularity can come later on - I don't expect higher ratings in the beginning -> first surviving then rising up) and really great to see sket dance being so high again. This manga will be on top for several times and maybe it deserves a cover
Dissapointing but not depressive: Mx0 after a very good rating last time, it went down and has to watch out a bit

Yeah, well that does us at MH no good. Coupled with the fact that in order for an RTS to start of an existing series, there really needs to be some definite interest from translators. None of them are clamoring for it.

Question if scans are already caught up then why does the series need a r/t/s ? wouldn't you rather try to get interest in series that are not being done like Usagi or Muhyo ?

As for the rank...yeah, Muddy and K.O.Sen are dead but Psyren could be sticking around. And its a great week for Neuro, Mx0 and Usagi.
