Probably just another fillers

no it wasnt a complete filler, most of it was directly from the chapters. The animation was so so, nothing great. Next week too doesnt seem impressive.

Yamato may have some funny looking eyes but he’s a very good sensei, cheap Kakashi should be ashamed of himself. Naruto is so messy and Sai is so neat. :blink
Thanks for the episode. :)

Really? The last time I remember is that the part went straight to the meeting of kabuto after they set off. I gotta check again.

Yeah the whole thing with naruto getting pissed off at sai, yamato bringing out the huge wooden cage, them going to the hotsprings, yamato checking sai's stuff, the early morning sakura spoting sai and their conversation abt that drawing book, yamato making a wooden mansion and their conversation abt how they should split the team with sakura/yamato together and naruto/sai on their own, and lastly the beginning of the battle simulation (which will be a part of the next episode). All of that aint filler. Plz re-read the manga to confirm.

Wow, first ep sucked hard. Tons of ugly animation. And Sakura's punch felt so much better when it came completely out of nowhere and wasn't build up by that talk between Shizune and Tsunade...
The second episode was well enough, though. The drawings weren't that bad. Some of the filler-scenes were funny. Not much to complain about this one.
btw. Someone noticed the anime-team changed the ANBU-mask to Yamato's? Seems like Kishimoto really just made a mistake back then. oO

This is the worst episode I've ever seen.Nothing really happened mostly because more than 1/3 of the both episodes were fillers and the rest is taken from the manga, but it's been so much stretched that I had to move ahead the cursor of my player, it was too much boring! As if that wasn't enough, they continue to put those stupid ''keyword" breaks and the other stupid thing about "we investigate everything" in the specials. They call it 1 hour special, but it lasts 40 minutes and opening+ending = ~4 min, the anticipation of next episode = ~2 min, those stupid breaks = ~5 min.Let's approximate to 40-10=30min.Then 1/3 are fillers. It means that approximately the real content of the episode is just about 20min,with a really stretched plot.I voted for "Terrible! Nothing good about it".

I enjoyed it thoroughly. Although it had filler, it's always better than an episode that is totally filler *cough*Team Gai*cough*
I especially liked the way it looked while they were around the candle, as well as the picture of Sasori that Yamato had.
Also, I believe Yamato was looking through his own stuff, not checking Sai's.

Hmm.. the episode is so so for me. Very plain, nothing really interesting, but it sure do not stray a lot from the manga. I don't see the filler as really a filler though. It's normal to have additional scenes in anime adaptations, and it's not really bad in this double episode.
But yup, for me, overall it's a plain episode. Nothing interesting to see, but I'm glad that it actually moving forward in terms of plot.

Two full episodes that barely covered two manga chapters... There wasn't even that much filler, just the pacing is so slow. If I have to watch another episode with pan and scan scene change with birds chirping every few minutes, I may quit the anime. Can't wait for the action scenes. Hopefully they aren't as bad as the Sasori fight.

Nope, you are not alone.
I'm seriously getting tired of all the negative comments.
People need to start realizing that they can't expect a super amazing incredible episode every single week, especially when you already know what's gonna happen. The real reason most of the people seems to not enjoy Shippuden is because they read the manga and caught up during the fillers. However many of them didn't read the manga during the first part and only watched the anime and that's mainly why they thought it was amazing. BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW THE STORY!!!!
This episode was nice and funny. You can't expect an action-packed episode every week and I like how the tension is building up towards the Heaven and Earth Bridge fight. Looking forward to it.

I mean granted, I did think that the Tsunade/Shizune conversation ruined Sakura's punch. But on the other hand, I loved the return of the bird, nice cameo.
And frankly, I've loved some of the filler stuff. Gai carrying Kakashi into Konoha, Naruto trying to get a look under the mask...
I'm not going to lie, the anime isn't perfect and there are things I would have done differently. But at the same time, it's not the worst episode I've ever seen--last two episodes of Full Metal Alchemist I'm looking at you, yes you. I mean World War II Berlin? The Hell?
That's just my opinion of course. :P

lol we do realize that we cant get a excellent episode every week. But that doesnt mean we cant call this a bad episode, when we comment we are reviewing the episode. Hey if an episode is bad its bad, and when its good its good, thats just the way it is. This episode wasnt bad and it wasnt excellent either.

agreed, Shippuuden isn't that bad. But still you can see that some of the episodes are really good in wit and animation which basically ALL pre-timeskip episodes had. Nevertheless, you can't blame them for being slow when all they do is converting filler chapters into filler episodes.
A 1-hour special wasn't that bad either, even though there were no fights. Without it we would've had to wait another month till the bridge fight starts.

Well said. People have to realize that the manga tells a story but the anime gives details. :blink

It's the pacing that I have a complaint about.
That "double episode" could've been done in 18 minutes flat. It still would've been an uneventful episode with some minor fanservice and foreshadowing, but it wouldn't have been so slow as to torture the viewer. That and the little extra blurblets are really killing the suspension of disbelief. It's hard to get into ninja-opera mode when the characters themselves are routinely breaking the 4th wall and talking directly to the viewer.
Ugh.

Gotta say, this is one of the worst episodes i've seen so far.
It feels like perma slow motion, slow movements, slow conversations(and boring as well), sucky animation and because of the slow animation speed i
cant sense any atmosphere at all.
Overall episodes became way worse since team kakashi/gai arrived in konoha(although the 1st one was pretty awesome due to cool fillers)
But i can't agree with marte1980, cauz those fillers part with konoha academy blabla and keyword shit is 10 times better drawn than the actual content.
Its feels way faster as well.
Voted 4 Terrible
Greetings
PS: Dunno if it's just me but do those "camera slides" really stutter?

Although you're right about the Naruto1-Anime and Naruto2-Manga part, it doesnt excuse the sucky quality of animation(drawings & animationspeed), because other
anime DO animate episodes properly every week. The current shippuuden episodes feel totally stretched(slow motion).

Yet, if the episode were going fast the anime would soon catch up to the manga and then what? Fillers? Would you prefer that? Or maybe release an episode every 3 weeks?

I'd hate to go into fillers or 2 episodes a month. I've been happy with the 37 Shippuuden episodes so far, and I'm sure I'll be happy with rest of the series (even if it goes filler :/)

I didnt meant the amount of plot they show per episode, that's somewhat fine atm. I would prefer it to be a bit more tho, but who doesnt?
Shippuuden feels choppy with its slow animation, slow talk and all those environment-without-people scenes.

Once you resign to the fact that the anime will want to drag on as much as they can, so as not to get to the manga, you stop getting pissed. We may see the heaven and bridge fight in slow motion(lol). I will have my fast forward button ready just incase.
All in all, this episode is not bad. I dont mind the fillers as long as the merge well with the manga, like this one did.

Aren't we already getting about 2 eps a month? There have been so many breaks and 1-hour specials as follow ups that it's killing.
As for the ep: so the anbu mask that yamato was looking at was changed from sai's sempai to yamato's. Does this mean that Kishi made a mistake? I have always been wondering about that. and it completely changes the mood and feeling of the story since. I've always had Yamato in doubt, but now it's not like that AT ALL.
Hemostrat
December 02, 2007, 03:19 PM
In the manga it wasn't Sai's sempai... I checked that a bit before the episode went on just to double check myself. I personally think its Sai's mask for the fact that Yamato looked at Sai's clothes and was apparently going through his stuff and found it.
Now, last week we have one episode cover two chapters. Now we have two episodes cover two chapters. WTF?! And the next week is just going to be one episode as well....

Some episode are stretchable while others are not. In episode 35 nothing really happened and they couldn't add any fillerish parts in there, while in episodes 36-37 they could do that, since the characters visited new places which gave the writers more possibilities to add new scenes and stretch the plot.

I can't agree with you, people used to watch naruto season 1 as you did and as i did, and it certainly was better (way better) than naruto shippuden, when you know it's the same team making both naruto and bleach and when you see that bleach suffer less of those fillers or bad animation you have the right to wonder why your best serie is not on the top, especially since the quality differ from one episode to another...
Take this episode for exemple, it says "special naruto" one hour, what a joke, as someone said it not even two chapter filled in it, some scene are obviously too long, oh and what to say about those mini off scenes.
Look at the "filler gap" at 30.16 sakura chatting with sai like they go along well...taking off this would not affect the story, leaving it kinds of ruins it, in my opinion at least.
ps : Oh and there's two kind of neggative posters, the one that keep bashing EVERY SINGLE WEEK about how crap is the anime while the other one will warn you to not be too exited by the episode (and we had few deseapointement with few scenes we were waiting so much , see naruto 2 tails for exemple), because what they are about to see is kind of useless/does not belong to the original story or filled with juicy fillers.
What made naruto original at start was the fact that original art was kept in the animation.

For people who were complaining (myself included) about the two tails making Naruto go goth with the black lipstick, if you look at chapter 364's cover colored by Kishi, he does have black lipstick, which was way before that episode came out... so apparently the goth was Kishi's idea... sadly.

A boring episode. Nothing interesting. Its really not a filler episode. Most of the scene are from the manga. Its just the pace is too slow. But the animation wasn't bad. Better than the first arc.
Looks like next episode doesn't seems great.

I was wondering how much practice did Yamato have until he perfected that wooden house jutsu? You got to get the wood to fit in nicely with each other so that it would be structurally stable and that the aesthetics would be nice. That must be one of the more advance wood jutsu imo.
