Is your small college town really that bad snoogen?

it's not a bad place. it's relatively safe and a great place to live. however, it's in the middle of nowhere so if you need anything from a grocery store, mall, etc., you need a car to get there.


It's strange isn't it? Just when you have some extra money, something have to go wrong... that usually happens to me :( .... when i have some extra cash, something happens which forced me to use the extra money..... :XD

it's always the case. :darn

I was pretty scared yesterday. My homeboy's girlfriend decided to let me practice driving, in her Lexus! i was kinda scared I was gonna crash it or something but I did pretty good. I didnt wanna go out into the main road though. I can drive, turn, signal and all that stuff pretty well and I pulled a perfect u turn on my first try! I still suck at parking and I sometimes hit the brake to hard but im almost there. Your boy gdup will be driving perfectly in no time, i just need to get my permit.

There's one week left to our thesis deadline, and my housemate and I still have time to get into new hobbies (dragon boat racing), drink, and sleep! amazing! btw, i invited my classmate over so that we could have company while doing our own theses. That's why I have a housemate right now. We're supposed to be encouraging each other not to sleep but we get so tired from the dragon boat rowing. :XD

Wow im growing up, with my new schedule i actually have a class that......i have to study for! Our chemistry teacher wants us to remember 60 of the elements and their signs by Tuesday! i looked in the book and some of the stuff looks real confusing. Oh well just 5 points on my GPA when i get that A!

i'm sorry but i don't understand this block system. when i went to school, we had classes back to back from 8-3 with lunch in the middle. once a month, we had blocked schedule so we would have our classes (periods 1-4) on monday and classes (periods 5-8) on tuesday; each period would be doubled. we had three minutes breaks to get to our next class.

is it similar to that? it might be a catholic school thing though

And you will be surely dissapointed...chemistry is not all big explosions (as i once thought! :crying). Most of the time, the reactions will just be a little bom, but never anything worth going 0_0 for...(although we once did this outdoor reaction. It was pretty fun :D). Chemisty lab stuff = boredom (99% of the time). But, the labs always have dangerous chemicals, you could always make a reaction of your own*.

*speaking of that, some guy in the year above, got kicked out a couple of weeks back, because he brought down the science labs by fucking up with the chemicals at lunch time. :rofl :rofl Nobody got hurt, although there was a high amount of mercury spillage...wait...i might be poisoned...:oh

@Snoog: Well its raining here so there might be people getting sick, and since were all indoors most of the time the greater chance we have of getting sick.

haha no i'm not sick nor do i have any desire to get sick. my sister is sick though so i've been sprayng antibiotic spray all over the room. haha

there were rumors spreading around that stated that if 10% of the student body was sick, the university would cancel classes (that's apparently how the local school district work and according to my microbiology major friends, the definition of an epidemic). alas, the president has shot that rumor done. :darn

most of the people sick are those involved in sorority recruitment which is a huge event at my university. over a thousand girls try out for a sorority and since they're close together, germs are bound to spread. add that and their going to classes, going out, etc. whatever they have is going to spread like crazy. it doesn't help that the weather isn't really conducive aka freezing and that being in closed room with little or no air circulation help further this problem but that's enough science talk for the day.

do you mean if they were born with everything handed to them? i think every campus has its share of people who are spoiled rotten aka daddy's girls and boys (i don't know the term to describe the male version of that). my university is kinda know for that with its median income in the six figure range but to tell you the truth, i really don't pay attention to that. i can tell who is rich but in the end, it doesn't matter. besides, it's not like they're rich; their dads are.

i'm the secretary of my pre-medical fraternity, not a social sorority. there's a huge difference. the fraternity i belong to is more of an honor society and aren't like a social sorority which are the ones usually seen in tv and movies.


but aren't most biolgoical, and anatomical sciences deeply involved with chem?

almost all sciences are related to each other. for example, you may study a hormone in biology but you need to know the chemical properties in order to comprehend its function and mechanism.

i had horrible physics professors. my high school teacher rocked but my college ones sucked. plus, the physics lab in college aren't as fun as in high school.

whos the boy G? :blink as for favorite part of physics... i dont know... transferance of motion always was a favorite, i guess... i know, that might seem strange or basic, but keep in mind, i <3 warfare, and all sciences attached to it. it amazes me that a solid lead projectile (im thinking more like shells of a cannon, not just a gun) can only do so much damage, while a hollow projectile will do so much more damage...

then there is also quantum physics. i love to theorize on multi-verse articles i read.

ok, so when i first got the xbox, first game i played was Halo 3, then on the second to last level i kept running out of ammo, got put off, and played Mass Effect for a few days ( i havn't finished it yet, but i easily could. im just getting all the side-quests done first. i want to see if i can get lvl 60 for the over-gamer award, or whatever it's called) so tonight i put H3 back in, and played it threw the end. the part where i got stuck was easily the hardest part of the last two levels. although, the outrunning of a ersatz-planet as it blows up underneith you.... that was something else altogether. so the ending... ;=; thats all i can say. is just :crying
all of the human characters! all of them died! Lord Hood is the only character from any of the games to survive! wtf?! :crying and yet the arbitor survives... wtf? we're not sure about cortana, though.... but, at least he wasn't the last spartan. during and right after halo 2, three Spartan IIs (John 117 was a S.II) and four or so Spartan IIIs get trapped in a forerunner fortress world. several other Spartan IIIs (something like 300) had just been released to fight the Covenant. but they don't mention them in the game.

i cant stand basket ball (im i grew up like 20 miles from where basketball was invented). to me, it's as bad as nascar. they bo back and forth (or round and round) and the score is constanly going up (the laps keep ticking down) until a fight starts (someone crashes) then it gets a brief spot on sportscenter (it gets a brief spot on sportscenter :p) followed by the winner and score. (followed by the winner and who all the losers were.)

i cant stand basket ball (im i grew up like 20 miles from where basketball was invented). to me, it's as bad as nascar. they bo back and forth (or round and round) and the score is constanly going up (the laps keep ticking down) until a fight starts (someone crashes) then it gets a brief spot on sportscenter (it gets a brief spot on sportscenter :p) followed by the winner and score. I think I've found it, it just came a little late. That's actually why I withdrew from school.

We'll see what happens. I'm already making plans right now - I need a phone first so I can text people, and then I need to apply for the job application I saw and for grad school all over again (that's the part that sucks) but after that I'm pretty confident this is the way for me to go. It also works with the two degrees I already have, too, if I go into special education and especially if I do something like a resource specialist, which pays good money a month for what amounts to be a pretty fun job.

speaking about phones, I was watching some documentary the other day about an inmate who was just released from prison, and he's been in the can for about 3 years...when he was given a cell phone, he had no clue what to do with it and/or how to use it.

It's amazing how cell phones have evolved in so little time. Just a few years ago (not even a decade ago!), we used phone booths! Now it's practically obsolete! lol

Just for the record, we've had at least three moderators here who are as old or older than that. And all are still enjoying their manga/anime very much. :)

Also a scanlation group head is even older than that, and we have another member (who used to be around more often) also older than that.

Of course teens and 20-year olds still dominate the forums though, it's natural I guess.

I feel like a geezer sometimes because I'm in my later 20's though, approaching 30. I wish I was still 16 years old - the age when I started being active on the internet. LoL. It's been a long time.

Well I have to pay attention to what I say, but
1. I read an article and it was about a promotion of inbev (world's n°1 or 2 brewery), inviting foreign students at leuven's brewery to know more about belgian beer: production, etc. Of course, at the end there's always a taste session and in that article they said everyone enjoyed it but the asian girls had difficulties with the bitterness of the beer.
2. It was soccer world championship in japan/south-korea. We were in the group with japan and before the game they do some interview, some amusement on tv before the match. One of the tv-shots: they offered japanese some duvel. The funny thing: those guys drank it very fast and they became red and seemed to have problems with it (though it's only 8,5° and that's mediocre since we have 11° , 12° beers)

I certainly don't want to blame asian people not good at drinking, generalising isn't good but maybe your friends saw those kind of things (though prolly different) too and they make the mistake generalize

anyway to make it clear: I am certainly not a drunkard but over here you can drink beer at the age of 16 and since we're a beer country, the consumption is ver high but not as worse as that water-lookalike drink (otherwise called WODKA) and the russians

usually, its the same for me. but i just got this nice warm black jacket on clearence, but i didn't realize it doesnt have a hood ;=; i had it or over my sweater when i was walking to work today (about a 40 min walk) and it sucked! my body was warm, but it was freezing, and snowing, and blowing. so my face was freezing x.x i hate winter. good thing we havnt had any of it the last few months

Something like that happened with Unus the Untouchable, a X-Men villain with the mutant power of having a force field, when Beast enhanced his power to the point where he couldn't even sit down without pushing the chair away. no they didn't hit on me because i wasn't their type. they rather get drunk and hang out with these really "easy" girls. two of them had girlfriends but that didn't stop them from making out with them or staying the night in their hotel rooms. plus, they went to the convention hungover which was so embarrassing because the other chapters heard about it and were talking about it. it was worse when one of the boys who was running for international delegate didn't prepare a speech and winged one that was horrible. he was so disheveled from the night before and gave equally poor answers to questions. it was so embarrassing.

my friend anna and i sat away from them so we wouldn't be associated with them. the guys probably didn't like it because they didn't wait for us at the airport, going through the checkpoints without us and sitting away from us the entire time. argh!

Talked to her and it seems they're doing an autopsy to find out what happened. The baby was ok one day, and then his heart just stopped the next day. Very sad and exceedingly rare it seems. :s

Guess all we can do is pray for them now but she and her hubby seems to be doing OK and they're planning to try again eventually.

It's a coveted position, and RA's tend to be popular in campus.
