The only manga I know of is Berserk, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Naruto (haha, since this is posted on its forum), Bleach, Inuyasha, Monster Hunter (which seems like a cheasy parody of Fairy Tail-which is a parody of Rave Master; The main character reminds me of Rock Lee) D. Grayman, New Grappler Baki, Cross Epoch (a short story bwtn two great mangas) and....that's it.

If you like ninjas, a little romance and tons of action then Basilisk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilisk_(manga)) is really good... I've only read about half of it but I've seen the entire anime which covers the entire story and it was great. I believe onemanga has it for online viewing

Eh. Two weeks, three weeks, I have school to keep me busy. Right now I'm just waiting for Summer. Wah! This year has been so long already and it's not even May yet. At least I have other manga/anime to keep me busy...right now I'm downloading the first volume of Hikaru no Go. It looks very interesting, I hope I'll like it.

...I'm also oh so stuffed from some banana tempura from a Chinese restaurant I just ate at. It was SOOOOO good. Yum, yum. Now I feel like an elephant.

Not at all! Currently I'm getting through the boring normalities (I'm a Freshman in college): English, history and math. But I'm also studying art in hopes of becoming a comic book artist, as well as criminal justice, as a "back up" to be in the FBI or a lawyer perhaps. I'm not to sure as to what I want to do yet, so it's all very broad.

ES21 is excellent.....highly recommend. :) like kaylee said, the main character is always central to the story, but even characters from the opposing teams are well-developed. each team they face brings a new set of skills giving this manga a nicely diverse cast of characters.

i know what you mean about undertaking the task of starting a fairly long-running series, but at least it's not as daunting as starting something like one piece or hajime no ippo! :faint :XD

As long as we're recommending manga to each other, I'd have to say Mx0 is one of the better mangas I've ever read. I've tried around a dozen other new ones (My current reads are naruto/bleach/fullmetal alchemist, not a very exotic list lol), mainly from the top 20 on onemanga.com, and Mx0 is definately one of the better all around mangas in terms of character cast, humor, action, etc...definately give it a read if you've got the spare time (and in these 2-3 weeks, you do :P)

Haven't ever heard her music I don't think. :darn And well, it's mostly a "learning" trip, attending lectures and visiting historic sights and such. But having realized that I should just not be lazy, I did some research and decided to try to visit the Naruto Straight and see the whirlpools!!! :D Seems like the only logical thing to do in this instance. :tem

Although I was sadden that they didn't animate the last couple of chapters of the manga where there were the tournament between China, Korea and Japan. It's understandable from a Japanese perspective, but it shows how much of a threat Japan would have become with Akira, Hikaru, and others.

I've tried to relay this alot but it mostly goes unheard. The literal translation of his name is the actual emotion "Pain" not "pEin". ZZZ

But for sure we will find out when he hits anime and see how Dattebayo decides to spell the simple word, lol.

Yeah, but if one wants to spell his name the way it is spelled in Japanese, then it would be Pein. Same difference, except if one wants to read it in Japanese and wonders why it isn't spelled in the "English" way. Just like some prefer spelling it Mangekyou as opposed to Mangekyo or Chouji as opposed to Choji. Because that's how it is actually spelled with a direct Romanization.

The painful thing for me is how even in Japanese Language instruction books they feel compelled to change the Romanized spelling of words to suit the English speaking readers' concept of pronunciation/spelling thereby unnecessarily making it more difficult to understand the Japanese spelling of words/pronunciation. (This is particularly annoying with the kana "U" as noted in the previous words.) :oh

Like spelling "desu" as "des" thereby completely skirting the need to understand that the 'su' is often pronounced with only an 's' sound, like in Sasuke. I'm surprised Viz hasn't changed his name to Saskay.

It was different?!? WAH! I must read it now. :o :D I only have the first volume from viz, but I've been reading the Shonen Jump ones sporadically.

I was a tad put off by the abrupt end in the anime, but it did seem like a good place to end it. With Hikaru finally getting all chummy with Akira and all.

You know, the relationship between those two makes me wonder if there is a significant yaoi following in the fandom...which you probably don't care about...heh. Sorry. I'll just go look for Hikaru/Akira fics now...

You could read it online at one manga also or buy the rest of the manga which I recommend you to do.


Anyway, there is also a little post-Hikaru no Go one shot of new rising go players where these two play off against Akira and Hikaru during the Lions Cup or something where the insei play off against the new 1-Dan.

OMG! If you have a GTA game, you will never become bored unless you have completed everything there is to complete.

The GTA series are quite cinematic however some missions are unrealistic but fun as hell!

GTA is usually pretty good plot wise, some of them are pretty deep. Lots of twist and some betrayal. God of War is a great game and the story is awesome but GTAs not a slouch either. The game can get repetative and sometimes boring but overall they are a lot of fun to play. Outside of the main story there are always tons of side missions that you can do. Actually there are a ton of them and I doubt anyone actually ever finishes the game 100%. It can be entertaining just hoping into a care and driving around going of jumps and stuff.

Well the idea of having a translator community was NJT's, he wanted me to be an hands-on administrator because he would be too busy with his three jobs and translating various manga to be able to deal with everything on the forums.

Basically the 3 founders of MH were:


Terramare (Terra, sometimes known as Axel) - Formerly head of Shannaro, designed the original website for NJT. He was the first member of MH. He was our primary tech for a long time and was around to help us to go from SMF to vB as well.
Ironically Terra never really liked SMF, and preferred vB. MH used to be SMF format at the beginning.
NJT - Came up with the idea of MH. Recruited translators, set up the rules, helped out with translations. Owner of the site.
Gold Knight - Created nearly all the forums and organized them, started discussions, recruited moderators, helped scanlators, made sure everything was going okay.

I originally told NJT that I would step down in the summer of '06 because I wanted to go back to school in the fall of '06. But in the spring of '06 my aunt died and left us with a big inheritance, and we brought a new house and I shelved my school plans for another year, so I was able to stay on at MH for another year. I finally stepped down in the spring of '07 when I felt like we had new capable admins taking care of the site. :)

Crisis Core is a great game, completely blows the PSP up in value. Been playing it myself, trying to make new super materia and what have you. Gonna beat this then start FF7 again. I'm curious if the end of the game explains how Cloud got the buster sword from Zack.

I would so love to play FFVI in all it's 3D glory, that would be wonderful. I do think, however, they are remaking it for the Nintendo DS in the same fashion that III and IV are being done in, the same team as well. I don't think it's completely confirmed, but I'd bet on it. In fact, I'm almost sure of it, the only thing is that it hasn't been confirmed (Near situation, Death Note fans). I do agree that VI is better than VII. However, I like VII better because of what it means to me personally. Basically my entrance into the RPG realm, even though my first RPG was Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI (got both the same day). (Love VIII as well)

Wahhh! No wai! Wii is amazing. But...I must say, I'm lacking in my RPG addiction, I've been going through withdrawals. I contort and twist myself in many different ways until I get what I want! Alas, a PS3 has not appeared before me. So...I save up my money. I really, really want Metal Gear Solid 4, another series that I love so very much. But first and foremost, I must have my Final Fantasy and other RPG addictions suppressed. Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts III. Ah...*geekasm*. But Wii is doing alright, we're getting Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, FFCC: My Life As a King, which looks oh so fun. Of course, Wii also gets the Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, and countless other amazing franchises.

So I'm in no bind. I'll have a PS3 by the end of this year, and all that matters to me is that I have one by the time XIII comes out. Soooo...I just need one before 2020. :D...........:(

FFVIII and FFIX are the only FF games in the PSone. They weren't that good.
But now, FFXII is the best game I've ever played it has a great battle system: different than anyone before and it got one hell of a good story combined with the best music you can find...

It's because 360's release date was sooner than PS3's.
I don't think that nintendo is going to keep up with Sony. Just compare the hardware used in the PS3 console with the one used in the Wii (they are both next gen consoles which means in the same level). The graphic card used in PS3 is the best so far... (last thing I heard: a pc version of this card doesn't exist).

And PS3 is alot expensive... that's why people are waiting for prices to drop down... and you'll see which one will be the best seller...

Hey. I'm getting sick of this Nintendo is for kids crap. Im sorry but the Gamecube got some of the bloodiest gory games out there before they even scratched the ps2 or even X-box. The Wii isn't for kids. Its aimed at the broader gaming market its for everyone.

It's because 360's release date was sooner than PS3's.
I don't think that nintendo is going to keep up with Sony. Just compare the hardware used in the PS3 console with the one used in the Wii (they are both next gen consoles which means in the same level). The graphic card used in PS3 is the best so far... (last thing I heard: a pc version of this card doesn't exist).

And PS3 is alot expensive... that's why people are waiting for prices to drop down... and you'll see which one will be the best seller...


Sales would tell ya that the PS3 isn't doing so well. I'm sure in the future with additional games, it's going to be great but other than that, all consoles loses to the DS.

The video chip in PS3 doesn't compare to the best graphics card today for PC. The PS3 was suppose to get a very good card but Nvidia couldn't deliver it on time.

Well recently PS3 has been outselling 360 monthly but of course overall 360 will have more sales since it came out before. PS3 sales are always rising and 2008 is the year of Sony with MGS, Gran Turismo coming out.

Also PS3 is going to make a lot of sales due to the exclusive PS3/GTA bundle.

As for me, I'll respectfully disagree. I do think that the Wii, and Nintendo for that matter, is definitely lighter at heart when compared to Sony and Microsoft. But for kids? Well...I don't want to get into this discussion too much as it'll go in circles, an opinion is an opinion and I care not to try and steer anyone's opinion here. I will say though that the games speak for themselves, and there are plenty of M rated games on the Wii. Though, personally, I don't see that as "adult". If a game is fun, has a complex enough storyline, deep and involved characters, and once again, is downright fun, I really could not care less whether the game is marketed for kids or for blood lusting freaks, I really don't.

I will say that I'm a bit disappointed in the Wii, however. I suppose that was known to me considering most of the games I play are RPGs, the rest are Action/Adventure. If the game is really good, I'll get a puzzle, misc., or shooter, but other than that, it's RPGs all the way for me. So I'll definitely be supporting Sony soon enough, but they are quite the expensive bunch, huh? I'll be saving up again (I did before...then spent it on necessities...y'know, like RPGs?) and hopefully have one by the middle of Summer. My philosophy has always been fun, and although the philosophy skews a bit when playing RPGs, most of the time the basic concept is still there. If I don't have fun, I won't play it. If the game has rosebuds, no language, no blood, and is centered around a hero that farts rainbows, I'll play it as long as it's fun. Likewise, if a game that centers around a complex storyline, has blood gushing out of enemies' throats, boasts the best graphics around, and has online out the wazoo, but doesn't really draw me in and I don't have fun playing it, I won't play it just to say I have an M game in my collection. Granted, I'm not blanketing either genre. I've played Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 and loved the hell out of both of them. I've also played very lighthearted games (the new Nights) that suck complete ass. So it's a toss up. But either way the cookie crumbles, as long as it tastes good, I don't care what it looks like. (Oh damn, that was so cheesy, but y'know when people take the time to make a meal LOOK good then it tastes like SHIT? Yeah. Games.)

Well, currently the English Shonen Jump magazines are now into Naruto post-timeskip stories and is into Sakura and Chiyo's battle with Sasori, which should end next month. They have four-five chapters each month, and they have already said that their goal is to catch up to the Japanese chapters of Naruto very soon so that their American audiences can have the same feel of anticipation at the same time Japanese readers do for the latest chapters.

That's still probably a year or so down the line, though, but in the meanwhile we can definitely expect more post-timeskip games to come out in America in the next year. This is probably the last new game they will do pre-timeskip.

Since the XBox360 Naruto game only went as far as, I think, Naruto's final battle with Gaara, I'm expecting this one to cover the ENTIRE Pre-timeskip story - hopefully. And then, they'll do the post-timeskip stuff.

Anyways, I have all three consoles, wii, ps3, and 360.

I do enjoy the wii, however it's not my main console, and never will be. I do enjoy the games it has but it doesn't have everything that suits my needs nor it should, the three franchises on the wii seem to always be solid (mario, metriod and zelda), as for it being good with third party games. Eh, yeah it's alright, and the sales do say it sells, but at this point, nothing dramatic is going to shift over (although monster hunter 3 ended up on the wii, instead of the ps3). Ps3, I do enjoy because that's where MGS and FF reside, and the graphics are top notch. Hell I'm getting amped to play MGS4, the final saga of MGS itself.

The 360 I enjoy mostly for FPSes, or racing. The 360 is mostly critcized for being a FPS machine and in some respects it is, but at the same time, it doesn't hurt to try other games. I still see third parties switching between the 360 and PS3. While the ps3 isn't doing very successfully, it's not terrible either. (DMC4 varied pretty well), and I don't see MGS or FF switching sides.. yet.

As for those who like seeing other companies struggle. Yeah, that's a big no no. I love all three companies becausae they push each other.

360? They would start charging up the ass for DLC, knowing they won't have competition (it's apparent in some cases)

Sony? They got aggronant and charged up the ass for their consoles, thinking the brand would keep them flowing.

Seeing as all three are pushing (even though wii is number one worldwide, that doesn't really matter, sources aren't going to shift that much) it keeps a healthy competition.

heh, don't worry, I was a sony fan at first. A kid, I did play nintendo games, but it didn't push over to start purchasing consoles.

I still remember it, xmas, I was around 14, parents bought me a playstation with nba live 98 and Crash Bandicoot 2. After that it just kept rolling after that, and I tried other consoles out as well... If you want to know how much I change?

I'm probably one of the few that doesn't see spending $400-$500 on a system that big of a deal. It's supposed to last like what?... 8 yrs. Thats not really that much money. What happend to Terramare?

Life and school from what I know. I believe he was in the same situation I was, just trying to get the rest of his life going as well. I'm probably going to be even more of a stranger in 2009 myself for the same reasons, but it's been fun.

Terra did still help us out with the recent layout changes though, but that was probably his swan song here. For now Nimloth and Ossu are our new primary techs. Since they both are already working men, it's likely neither one will be going anywhere for a long time, too.

Yes the PSP comes with built in Wireless Network support, and some games allow you to play over the internet even though its not the popular feature(kind of slow). There is a built in browser that even supports flash!

By far Crisis Core is the best game for PSP, but there are others worth your time if you want to get the PSP. Particularly if you're into RPGs, get Valkrie Profile Lenneth. That is 20 dollars over the counter and the game is massively challenging. Only game turn base RPG where you enter a battle with a high chance of losing. :P It requires some real skill.

Comparing the DS to the PSP isn't really fair. The PSP is an all around console where the DS with some unique features is more "economy". The PSP technology wise is lightyears ahead, which obviously gouges the price up pretty high. But being able to put full legnth movies on your PSP, with a good size memory card, or you could buy them in UMD format --- really puts PSP on top in my opinion. There are so many features to the PSP that the DS doesn't even come close to aside from graphical superiority.

Pros:
-Huge widescreen format, makes handheld gaming more detailed and fun.
-Built in WiFi
-Built in browser
-Built in MP3 support and MP4 support (for video playback)
-Built in RSS and Flash support
-Awesome gfx capability.
**Unlike DS it has a built in operating system. Essentially a blown down verson of whats on the PS3.

Cons:
-Battery only lasts 4 hours.
-It's a delicate piece of equipment, mainly the screen, so I don't suggest it for any kids. *I've seen parents dumb enough to buy their kid one.

Xbox had a few great games, I have one as well. Ps2 too.

Xbox my favorite games were Halo and Halo 2 but above them was Fable. One of th best action RPGs ever. When Fable 2 comes out, thats when I'll determine if 360 is worth my money.

PS2 though, just has the best games. PS3 is amazing, but the games haven't reached that level yet.

Seeing as this is an agony thread and the subject seems to be concentrated on consoles, has any Xbox 360 users suffered from the dreaded ‘Red Ring of Death’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems)? You basically get three red lights flashing on your on switch signifying that your 360 is dead (Well, experiencing hardware failure if you want to get technical). I was lucky enough to experience this problem last week. :crying The only good thing I guess is that Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years for any one experiencing this problem, because my one year warranty ran out 2 weeks ago, lol......just another 4 weeks now until I get my good mate back. Well any way that’s my agony out of the way.

Are there any Fallout fans here? Fallout 2 is still the best RPG I’ve ever played. And with Fallout 3 coming out at the end of the year I’m getting pretty damn psyched about it. :Gaipose :leepose (Even with Bethesda at the helm the game will still kick ass..........I Hope :amuse)

Final Fantasy is good too, but until you’re able to punch a guy in the groin or shoot him in the eye, pimp off your wife for some extra cash, become a porn star for the hell of it or even gain the ability to set your mutant and ghoul companions up with human prostitutes (hey, they may be hideous and rotting but they need some love'n too :p), Fallout will still be my favourite RPG. :D

My XBOX had the ring of death. They fixed it pretty fast though for free. I don't play anyways. Man, I won it in a drawing and have never played it. My BF plays it almost non-stop though so, whatever. lol

Oh my damn. You are my new best friend. Duck Tales! Duck Tales!? DUCK TALES! That game holds so many fond memories for me...such sweet nostalgia. I played that game until my mother pried my hands from the controller. I have no idea how I'd like it nowadays, but back then it was amazing. Granted, I'd much rather play Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, or...aw, hell, Duck Tales was just pure joy. It's comparing apples and oranges with such different genres. With the aforementioned hardcore games, it's more of an experience. With games like Duck Tales, it's just pure bliss.

Love it. Miss it. Want it back. Well, my only hope is one of two things: Ebay or Virtual Console, the latter being nearly impossible.

I was a bit sarcastic with FFXIII but I'm sure it will be a good game. I would love to play FFVI in HD and hear Kefka laugh. Kefka was such a bad ass. More so than Sephiroth.

Anyway, as I said before, with the new Falcon version of the Xbox 360, I dunno if there has been any more reports of the dreaded RRoD. For the older version of the Xbox 360, I'm not surprised.

When my friends Xbox 360 started the RRoD, he sent it in and they supposedly fixed it but when he got it back, it was still doing the RRoD. He had to send it in a second time for MS to fix it.

This says nothing for FFVII...

Let's just say that Cloud was like...well, I knew that our relationship would never work out because he was a fantasy and all...but I loved him anyways. *nod* I had at least 5 of EVERY materia in the game. Though...I never could get Tifa or Aris' final attack...and then when I finally FINALLY learned how to beat Ruby Weapon, my memory card had been lost or stolen or whatever but I didn't have it anymore and all my passion died...:(

Ah, that sounds much like my time spent with Chrono Trigger as well. I too bought the remake. I absolutely loved the new scenes, they were so beautiful! *Tear* Haha, don't get me started on my obsession with FFVII, Cloud and Zack. Epic. That's all there is to it. Pure win. Ah, yes I've played Chrono Cross many a time, and I still have it in fact. I recently re-bought it after I sold it a while back (as I did with most of the now epic games which, back then, were of course just "games"...now they're diamonds). But I'm planning on replaying it yet again come Summertime. = O Indeed, Diablo was my first true unhealthy addiction. FFVII, the Chrono series, even the almighty Duck Tales...they were nothing compared to the deadly addiction that is Diablo. I actually remember gaining a good 15-20 lbs and my grades dropping from literally all A's, not a single grade below 95...to 30's and 40's. Bwahahaha. And you know what? It was worth it, damn it. So much fun...*weeps for the joy now past*

Has anyone played a little game called Demon's Crest for the SNES? I absolutely adored that game as well. It was the first "horror" (now it's nothing, but back in the day that game scared the hell out of me) game I had played all the way through without being a whiny scared little wee man. It's still very, very fun. Gawd, I need to buy an SNES again...the Virtual Console just isn't going to do it for me entirely, not with my hardcore needs. (that doesn't sound odd)

never player chrono trigger all the way...did play chrono cross (A+...I miss that game...I fucking hate dario)...I don't want to start on FFVII because...well, lets just say I spent hundreds of hours on that game and I still feel like I have hundreds to go...I miss it...

BUT, I did play demon crest...I don't think I finished it, but I remember the games it was based on, the ones for the NES and gameboy, I miss those games...they were tough as shit, and I remember spending hours upon hours and then losing all my lives and having to start alll over again...those were games...there was a sense of loss back in the day, now you have checkpoints and unlimited continues...they need to bring back a life system and having you start from the beginning when it runs out, and when I say the beginning, I mean level 1-1....

Demon Crest's? The one where you start off with an ugly red goblin that could fly and shoot fireball? You first start off fighting a zombie dragon right? And later you challenge this tall demon as tall as the screen that possessed the heaven stone right? Not only that but it was made my Capcom? If yes, I played it. Awesome game but thought it was too short. Didn't even need to fully power up to beat the game.

Played Chrono Trigger but can't beat the last boss or the mother of what's his name in that floating structure. Data erased so I didn't feel like playing it through.

I didn't quite like FFVI FFVII. It some how just became so long and so uninteresting I just quit and then one day decided with, what the hell, let's just beat it and be over with it. The only thing I really enjoyed about FFVI were the chocobo breeding, racing, mini-game arcade in Gold Saucer and most especially the parts where you had to protect the Phoenix egg.

Xenogears was a great game. I think that it's a far better game than most FF games I've played just because of the depth of the story.

As for Diablo, my aunt's husband got me hooked. Damn it was so scary but fun. Diablo 2 was fun. Love the assassin. Just waiting for Diablo 3 to come out.

Have you ever played Eternal Darkness for Game Cube?? I bought a GC specifically for that game (and Animal Crossing which I don't even want to talk about...:darn) Anyways, Eternal Darkness pwns my soul. Amazing. Not super long, but very involved and actually scary. Gotta love a game where you have a "sanity meter". :D
