my submission is up for gold theme. a really cool theme if not one of my favorite :) all the submissions are really good!

congrats to leaf on winning the last one!

I'm really glad you like this theme! :D When I come up with them, I try to make them rather varied. So, some are meant to be more unconventional than others, but this one seems rather broad and conventional, which is good sometimes.

Your submission looks nice. Super Saiyan Vegeta (or is this SSJ2 Vegeta :amuse) and SSJ3 Goku illuminate the signature with their golden ki. The sparks between them are flying, and we get to see yet another emotional connenction that wasn't shown in the previous submissions: rivalry (although there are quite a lot of fanfictions that suggest there may be more to this intense rivalry :yaoi). The look between the two of them is so intense that the tension is palpable. (I've been watching the old episodes of DBZ via Dragon Ball Kai. It isn't up to anywhere near where these stages would be shown.) I really like it! :cheerbunny

Concerning your stock images, this one (http://planetrenders.net/renders/albums/userpics/27350/Majin-Vegeta-by-soniko.png) is showing a bit of an erroneous message; it says you should link the page and not the image. If you want to fix the link, just post the new link here, and I'll update your post. :)

Also, I am having a hard time recognizing in your post where the first stock image is used. I guess the golden sky image is overpowered by Goku and Vegeta's ki. It is over 9,000 after all! :gigglebunny

sorry about the bad link i will post a new link tomorrow... as for the first stock pic i only used it to get the gold color ;)

it's Majin Vegeta when he was under buu's control or whatever :s glad you like it :D

thanks for the feedback! sleep time.... :darn

Thank you for the submission, dHEKU. You took a more unconventional approach to the theme with the concept of "golden time." I am not sure that I have heard that term in English exactly the way you phrased it, but I understand the sentiment that is being conveyed (I think) and it is a nice submission. Is "golden time" a common phrase in Brazil, and if so, would oyu mind explaining its exact meaning for me? :tem

It is nice to see an FMA-themed signature. I can't say I have ever seen FMA used as a muse for a submission in these contests before. We can only see Al's hand. (I don't know much about card games. What are they playing, and does he have a good hand? :?bunny) I suppose it is not about who wins or loses, but the "golden" time had spent amongst friends and family, ne? :amuse

The current contest closes tomorrow; so, any last-minute submissions should be made soon.

Concerning the next theme that I had in mind, it is probably a more abstract and unconventional. As such, I'll tell you now (1 day early) to get your thoughts on it. The theme is old age.

It seems like it would be an appropriate theme for this season, and I haven't ever seen any theme that focus on old age and/or the elderly. There are plenty of elderly anime/manga/etc. characters to use for muses; so, it shouldn't be that difficult. What do you think?

Well, it really all depends on your personal concept of old age. If she fits, use her. :tem She certainly finds a way of defying old age. :amuse

I managed to enter this week ^^.

Thanks for the submission!!! I am glad you were able to make it into this contest. Your submission looks very nicely done. Gold works well with Jamie Foxx. I am not sure if you have ever heard the song "Gold Digger" by him, but when I saw him in your signature, I suddenly started thinking of that song for some reason. :XD

Jamie Foxx has been in a couple movies as a soldier, I think. I haven't seen The Kingdom. (I don't usually watch a lot of fighting-intensive movies.) Do you really like that film, and would you recommend watching it? :)

Without having seen the movie, there is not much else I can say on that regard, but the signature is really well done. The way you have the sunlight coming from behind him is really pretty. The various lines of light in the foreground make it seem as though this is a camera shot with a lens that has been scratched by dust or something, which enhances to the picture's war setting. In the U.S., it was Veterans' Day a few days ago; so, this picture is very well-timed. Overall, you have done another lovely job! : hbunny

Voting for the gold theme contest is available. Good luck to all entries!!! :cheerbunny

The new contest is up, and like I said before, the theme is old age. I give a pretty decent description of the possibilities in which you can go with this theme in the submission thread, but for those who don't read my little comments in the first post of the submission threads, you could make your submissions about an old character. This character doesn't even have to look really old. You could check out this anime trope entry (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ReallySevenHundredYearsOld) for some idea of what I'm saying. You also do a submission on the process of growing old. I think this is a really neat theme, and I hope you guys like it as well. :tem

I am sorry to hear about The Kingdom. If it was really good, I might have considered watching it. Thanks for the information on the movie! :hbunny

The signature is very nice, WhatWhat! It is a shame that you were not able to make it into the last contest with that. It probably would have been rather popular. :hbunny
For some reason, when I saw Luffy, I thought back to the beginning of the Amazon Lily arc with the discussion of kintama. :gigglebunny It wouldn't have been appropriate to draw Luffy's kintama, but it does surprisingly have relevance. Oda has a funny way of delivering on comedic timing. :amuse

I'm sure I will probably like your new signature. Dark ones are nice for a change of pace, and this theme also has the capacity to be taken to a darker place. :)

Well I hope it's right to ask questions here. I was just wondering about something relating to "Old Age".

So if you said by Old Age, can we think of it as... vintage? It's not necessarily a certain person/character, but just like... vintage items or similar. Would that be alright?

Hmm... If you could elaborate on that idea of yours a bit more, I think I would be able to give a better answer. Would the vintage items be used in a way to show a memory of an older time?
[hr]
Thank you for the submission, Akasunanosasori. Is there anything special about the particular old man that made you chose him? I don't recognize him or the background scenery. I'll look at the picture more closely tomorrow to see if I can figure out what that statue is in the background (or you could tell me). :hbunny

Hello, everyone! For those wondering about my absence this past week, it can basically be contributed to a confluence of lots of work, holiday travel, and a severe case of the flu/pneumonia (from which I'm still recovering).

I am so pleased that there are so many entries into the contest currently. When I last logged in last week, there was only one entry. So, I was rather worried that this contest would not result in many submissions, but once again everyone here has pleasantly surprised me. :hbunny

I am going to make a point to make more detail comments on the submissions tomorrow, but for now, I am quite pleased with what has been submitted thus far. To answer some of the questions posed in the thread:

@Razeus Sure. If you want to make individual trophies for the winners of each contest, you are certainly welcomed to do so. Any gifts or accolades for the winners would likely be warmly received by the winners. Thanks so much for volunteering. :hug

@Koen It is okay that you got a little help. (For anyone who wishes to do so in the future, be sure to credit the person who helped you like Koen did.) I am pleased you liked the theme so much that you wanted to participate. It really means a lot. :tem

I am going to close the contest thread now and create the voting thread. The winning submission of this contest will be the last entry in the Autumn Signature Contest; so, be sure to vote for you favorite signature of the season. ;)

I will also open the new contest. The theme will be crystal. It seems like a nice way to welcome the coming of winter. :)

Another congratulations is in order for Farfalla. She won the contest for the second time in a row! :wtf:confetti:5s-hugs

I liked the submissions over all for the last contest. Many of the submissions were not what I would expect, which left me pleasantly surprised. I figured it would be a rather simple theme for people, and that many of the submissions would revolve around elderly characters from popular series like Naruto ( e.g., Sandaime Hokage, Chiyo, Tsuchikage), Bleach (e.g., Yamamoto, Barragan), One Piece (e.g., Whitebeard, Garp, Brook), etc. (While watching Inuyasha: the Final Act the other day, I thought of a really interesting concept with Kaede.) Instead, almost all of the submissions went the more abstract route and focused on the concept of old age in general. Very artistic! :hbunny

Anyway, I just wanted to point out some of the other possibilities that were available for that theme, as I had gotten some comments that the theme seemed too difficult. So, for those who find some of the themes difficult to inspire something, there are usually various perspective from which the theme could be approached. (I try to pick themes that have lots of various possibilities. ;))

The three current submissions look really nice. T#7F's submission really is appropriately named and fits very nicely into the theme. So many crystals (glass crystals & snow crystals)! It definitely captures the upcoming season and is especially poignant to me, as the first snow of the season occurred where I live. :mokona

I watched the latest episode of Inuyasha: the Final Act today, and your signature sort of made me think of Kanna and her mirror demon. Kanna was one of my favorite InuYasha characters, and definitely my favorite of Naraku's incarnations. (I'm going to be rather sad next week during the next episode. :scry)

Razeus, your submission is concerning Daisuke from D.N.Angel? I haven't watched that series, but I think that is whence this character hails. I am trying to place the connection of the picture to crystals. It seems like it is set in a snowy background; so, I am guessing snow crystals. :?bunny There also seems to be water droplets in the foreground (very beautiful, by the way :luv); so, maybe you're going for crystal clarity. The title suggests that the character's inner innocence is sparkling and clear to those around him like crystal. It is very nicely done.

If you had some comments on your artistic intent wth the piece, I'd love to hear them. (I'd love to hear them from any entrant. :D)

As usual, Farfalla, you have done another amazing job. I definitely like the entry. Mystical always is a great way to go. (Magical crystals!!! :whoabunny) Is Rylai an actual character from a game or something, and if so, is the quote one of her lines from the game? I also like the evanescent/translucent border, as it also underscores the theme. Little touches like that really enhance the artwork. :nod Simply masterful.

I look forward to future submissions. Hopeully, the current three serve as good inspiration.

I totally forgot... again.. anyways crystals? I don't really see the similarity to winter so... is it snow crystals?

Yes, the thing that made me think of crystals were the ice crystals that I would see, but the theme is limited to such crystals.

I really liked the style of Razeus's entry and current avatar as of Dec. 1, 2009. :p

I'm still alive. I'm just waiting for some more time and an easy theme.:eyeroll

I am sorry that you didn't find this theme easy. I try to come up with a variety of themes, some easy and some challenging, but I sort of thought this one might be rather simple. If you have some suggestions on what you consider an easy theme, I would welcome your opinion. :)

I see. Hmm... I suppose I will try to watch the anime series first. If I like it, then I will consider picking up the manga series. Does that sound like a good plan, or is the manga a lot better/different from the anime?

Read the manga cause the anime shifts from it and the manga as far as I'm concerned is more canon.

No no^^ Lets say that there was a unit character in Warcraft III and they used it to create Rylai at DotA (they call her Crystal Maiden because of her skills: they all uses ice, as block or as rain, to damage the target). Jaina also was based on the Warcraft III unit skin, but she's not connected to Rylai^^ they both only uses the same skin, but their history is different.

I like the new submissions. dHEKU, your signature looks really nice. It also reminds me of one of the headers in the MH birthday header contest. I also like all of the crystal balls. I said it before, but I do enjoy the magical/mystical element to these quite a bit. :nod (Btw, what's Mirari? :?bunny I gather it has something to do with Magic: the Gathering cards from the link.)

@bakagemi I removed the second and third iterations of your submission. While I like your signature, I am afraid that you will need to edit your submission for it to qualify. It is beyond the specified size requirements (max. 550 x 170) for entries. Plus, you really should mention where you got your images. (Citing your MH photoplog submission doesn't answer that; you would instead give a link to where you originally found the image if you could.)

Please try to repost your submission by the close of the contest on Saturday, about 11 pm GMT (which should be around 3 pm PST for your time zone). :hbunny

I'm sorry for being so stupid and clueless, and this is a stupid question, but how do I edit it? I don't want to make another mess.

You cannot edit the post. You have to make a new post with the edited submission.

Thus, I am saying that the image you submitted does not meet the size requirements, and you will need to edit that image in whatever program you used to create it and then submit that image in the format as outlined in the first post of the submissions thread (put in the MH Photoplog and make the post the submission in the specified format).

Like Agrias stated in a previous post, don't forget about the Special MH X-Mas Header Contest (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55964)!

Mushashi, your entry does not currently meet the specified guidelines. You need to follow the submission format. Also, I don't see how your signature fits with the theme of giving. So, if you would not mind, perhaps you might also want to provide some sort of explanation of the concept of the signature in relation to the theme in this thread as well.

I just submitted mine in I was bored and such ^^! Are we allowed to wear our tags we sumbit?

Of course you are. :hbunny They are yours to use as you see fit.

i guess the staff controls the votes after the topic is closed....

Actually, that is not the case.

Do we have the power to manipulate the votes? Yes, of course we do; we have the power to manipulate even more than that.

Do we actually manipulate these votes, though? No.

In fact, what Agrias did was manipulate the thread to change the poll settings; it had no effect on the actual votes themselves.

It is winter, and I have had a really bad snow storm where I live. I just got power back today, and since the roads have been icy, I haven't gone out to go to somewhere where I can connect to the Internet.

It is fun to look at the snow, but it is not very pleasant when it blocks the roads and causes you to lose power for several days. I would be happy not to see snow for a while at this point. :sbunny

Very suitable theme for the Sig of the Week #79-80, Tsuki :cheerbunny Reminds me of how much giving I've been doing in the last week. Well done to all the participants, you have all done a wonderful job of giving me the pleasure of looking at some very fine sigs.

Koen
December 23, 2009, 07:18 AM
I find it quite funny that the common causal connection with giving in all signatures are female characters :) (well, you probably know which underlying clue I am hinting to ;))

anyway, I like all the sigs, nice work and the theme is very nice too (you see: abstract doesn't necessarily mean difficult)

Tsukisama
December 23, 2009, 09:58 AM
Thanks, Gecko and Koen, for your approval of the theme. I agree with them that all of the current submissions look wonderful. Thank you all for managing to participate in the contest despite your probably busy holiday schedules. :lovebunny

(P.S.- Koen is so right about abstract themes and about the coincidence of all female characters in the signatures. I probably would not have paid attention to that had he not pointed it out (referring to the lack of guys in the submissions). Guys can be generous and giving too. :tem)

I find Andrews' sig picture and his concept to be quite amusing :amuse

@ Hound: I really like the speech you put in there :) An old familiar sentence I heard people said a lot especially when one great time come to an end... Like in school/university graduations: fun time/school time is over, but that very moment is also the beginning for another new thing. It's the moment where sadness and happiness are combined. It's a speech of fresh resolution and hope - suiting very well to the great theme of this year's first week.

I also spot a newcomer here... mehedi D. shanto (whose first post goes directly for the sig contest :P) that is a fantastic Honey & Cover first submission! :ossu

Btw, not sure if it's too early, but in case I forget: I'd be interested to see signatures made out of "the rain" theme sometime (if it's also interesting in everyone's eyes of course).
In my mind, the rain can present emotions of an artist and at the same time, they are an inspiration for them. I would like to see how everyone would take and present "the rain" into their signatures pictures, by which look/concept, colors, styles.

:wtf Team#7's choice for images once again lends itself to a classically beautiful submission. I am beginning to see a style emerge from your submissions, and it is very lovely as I feel that I am gaining a better understanding of you through your artwork, which is especially nice given how quiet you usually are in this discussion thread. Art is such wonderful expression of the self. :hbunny

Speaking of a telling artistic style, I see, Sasori, that you are returning to your focus on the feminine although not as ecchi as in the past but rather understated in a way. :amuse It is very pretty and works on various levels. Does the image have anything to menstruation? The submission contains imagery that evokes mensturation to me, and while this is a rather discrete subject, it is done in a very tasteful and artistic manner. (You probably weren't going for this, but it could be a very deep expression of this female phenomenon. :tem)

Given the theme, I was expecting/hoping to see a submission using characters related to Naruto's Amegakure. Thanks for delivering on that, kakashi919. Kishimoto did an excellent job with making the rain mean so many things like serving as a defining characteristic of the land and an expression of the pain and sadness the ninja world has caused the people of that land, and you did an excellent job of capturing this in your submission. :kkthumbs

:confetti Congrats Andrews! :confetti

@ |Castigo| - well, one's favor towards art is always involved other factors and not specifically just about technics. :)
I'd say you can also compare it to some works that are considered as the most famous pieces of an artist - Monet or Van Gogh for examples. They put experiments into many of their works and some with better technic, but not that all of them always were regarded even by their own eyes as the best pieces.
I didn't vote for Andrews' though (sorry about it Andrews). I don't know but I suppose people liked the amusing touch in his sig and might really wanted a little up for the beginning. :P

I must also say that the current contest is a really hard one for me to decide on just one to vote for...

If I may I have a suggestion for a theme.

Which I feel might be quite fun for brush usage and such. Its called Live journal style.

Well its basically using brushes and texture to create various effects and such like using picture/polaroid brushes to make a collage of such or using flim strips to give it that flash back look or using zany designs and such to make something unique and creavity. My icon is a example of Live Journal style. I think it would be fun.

Also as a added twist each person must team up with someone and collab on the piece together =3..

If the LJ thing don't work I'm up for a collab theme and such.

Also as a added twist each person must team up with someone and collab on the piece together =3..

If the LJ thing don't work I'm up for a collab theme and such.

Hmm... :?bunny
Well, that is definitely two separate themes. (I wouldn't put them together.) As such, I will discuss them separately.

I have a couple of reservations about the LiveJournal style theme. The first reservation is that I am not sure if everyone frequents LJ. I have visited it a couple of times, but I wouldn't consider myself all that familiar with its art style. (I have mainly only read blogs on it.) I wasn't aware that there was a specified style for the art on that site.

Secondly, the art concept, as you have described it, still seems a bit too vague. The first two parts of the description (the picture/polaroid brushes and film strips) sounds like it could be possibly be a theme idea (e.g., maybe a photography theme), but the third part ("zany designs" for creativity and originality) is not well-defined enough to evolve into a theme for the contest. (If you wanted to elaborate on this further and come up with a more concrete pitch, then you are welcome to do that. :))

Thirdly, this theme seems to revolve more around the media used than the subject. For themes for this contest, I usually try to focus on the subjects of the works and then let the users express it as they choose. There is much more creativity in deciding the style of artwork than there is in deciding the subject, and I try to afford the users as much creativity as possible.

Again, you can re-pitch the LJ style theme idea in a more well-defined way, and I'll reconsider it. If it is well enough defined and some of the users have interest in trying it, I will probably use it as a theme. :amuse

Concerning the collaboration theme, well :sbunny... I had wanted to save this for the end of the week when I normally make the new theme announcements, but I was planning on doing this theme. :XD

Discussion of a collaboration theme has come up previously in this thread with positive opinions from the users; so I had just been saving it for the right time. With the earthquake in Haiti and the international community coming together to help, I thought that this would be the best time for such a theme.

So, basically the theme is cooperation (or maybe "community," "togetherness," or "helping;" I was planning on working on the name this week :p). Contestants will need to team up in pairs of 2 and collaborate on two signatures that are about working together. Each person will submit one of the two that they work on together, but in the submission post, both people should be credited.

So, what do you guys think about this? :hbunny

Razeus
January 19, 2010, 09:24 PM
Actually with that I will make a thread where people can collab with other sig makers.

What I mean is that I will give a sig that is incomplete and link the PSD and someone comes along and works on it to finish it off.

Tsukisama
January 19, 2010, 09:34 PM
Actually with that I will make a thread where people can collab with other sig makers.

People would be better suited doing this via PM or some sort of chatting apparatus (e.g., MSN, AIM, Skype, etc.), but if people express a need for a thread for this, one will be created.

What I mean is that I will give a sig that is incomplete and link the PSD and someone comes along and works on it to finish it off.

This is what you meant by Live Journal style? Well, you would need to provide a couple of samples for review first.

Razeus
January 19, 2010, 09:41 PM
Well live journal style is basically the use of texture to do affects and such its not really a style ,but more on being colorful XD it's hard to explain really. So disregard my idea.

Tsukisama
January 23, 2010, 09:47 PM
As mentioned above, the new theme is cooperation! The submission entries must be about working together. Additionally, you will need to pair up with someone to submit.

Unlike what I said in the above post, your team of two does not need to produce a second submission, but you can if you want (just have the other person make the submission post for it).

The idea of working together has been brought up in discussion before; so we'll see how this goes. :amuse

Also, be sure to vote for your favorite from the rain contest!!! :hbunny

I voted for Sasori's sig because I just love it! But, I don't think I'm going to participate in the cooperation theme. I'm not good at cooperating, and I prefer to work alone. Sorry.

Tsukisama
January 23, 2010, 10:46 PM
I had figured that some of the usual people would probably not be so into cooperation, but since it seemed like a good time to try it out (Haiti, another person recently suggesting a collaboration contest, etc.), I thought I would give it a try to see how it is received. Thanks for giving your opinion on this though, as it helps me to determine whether or not to do another collaboration contest in the future. :)

So, it seems that so far the following people are looking for partners:

Farfalla
Akasunanosasori
~Buggy*Fly~
Razeus

That is at least enough for two teams. If you form teams, please let us know in this thread so that it is clear who is with whom.

kakashi919, I would really prefer that you would try to work with someone on this, but if you can't/won't manage to this after a week, then I will consider letting you make an entry.

I'm glad to see some partnerships have been formed. :D I was beginning to get worried for the current contest.

I also like to do a music theme as well.

I try to go for an original theme each time, and unfortunately, the music theme has been done in the past. (To see all previous themes, I would suggest checking the Sig Contest Hall of Fame thread.)

For a special anniversary of the Sig Contest, I was planning on doing a previous theme contest, where submissions could be done on any previously used theme, but that won't be for some time. ;)

Well first he sent me the stock turned at a angle to make it have flow and added some vector brushes on the side and the words soldiarity.

http://i48.tinypic.com/2vv51ee.png

Next I used a soft brush at 70% opacity to erase some of the stock and moves the vector brushes next to the focal point and erased alittle of the brushes to.

Then I added lightning by using a soft brush at 100px and set the layer to linear dodge after several lightning I applied the image on a new layer and sharpen it and set the layer at 50%.

Finally added a color texture at lighten and lowered it down to about 30%

The cooperation contest is finally over, and with only two submissions, you can be sure that we won't be continuing this experiment in team submissions again for a very, very long time. :sweatbunny Even though there are only two, be sure to place a vote for your favorite!

The new contest is up and running! The mysterious theme that no one could guess correctly is...heart! This doesn't have to be about love, just about hearts. So, if you, for example, wanted to do something gory with a picture of beating heart, you very well could. :tem (Of course, you could also do something with love, emotions, or even just the heart ♥ shape.) Well, yes, it was four users, but two submissions is still sort of a poor showing, especially since I usually like to have a minimum of five submissions for each (individual) contest.

Well I made one for the Cooperation contest, but due to life slapping me around a little, didnt get it submitted~ Anyone care to see it anyways?

No, you should save it. As I mentioned before, there will be a contest where users can submit signatures based on previously used themes. You could use your entry then. ;)

:facepalm I can't believe no one got it! xD The submissions so far are looking great! :tem

I think the hardest part was the cooperation aspect. Between users preferring to work alone and the coordination nightmare of getting together the users who did want to team up, this was just a big headache. :sweatdrop I am not ruling this out forever, but you won't see another team contest for a long while. :amuse

I totally agree with you on the theme. I thought "heart" would be an obvious Valentine's Day theme too. :XD Anyway, I like the submissions also thus far. Keep them coming. If any of the contestants want to share their thoughts behind the submissions (inspirations, how you made it, etc.) or even how you spent Valentine's Day, I would love to find out. :hbunny

I post my submission already but I forgot to add one credit:

Here it is: http://thebigbadfish.deviantart.com/art/Midnight-c4d-wallpaper-98776504

About Valentine´s Day, I never do anything special, really. The signature was difficult to do it because it was my second try (I finished it approx. at 2 am) and I was looking for a new style, something different from my other signatures. They were too simple but thanks to a tutorial I found I was able to achieve it.

The hardest part of this signature was to chose a render and the color: it was between pink and red. Well, but at the end I liked the result and I hope you like it too. Good luck for this contest everybody!

I remember seeing some case about websites that require the membership to see their content before, so I'm pretty sure that posting a link to the home page would be sufficient in this case. I am not quite sure about the downloaded source, but if nothing can be done about obtaining the direct link, then merely mention that you take something originally created by C4D (or others) sounds like the most reasonable way to give them credits.

But don't worry though, if Tsuki comes and let you know that different links/credits are required, I'll take full responsibility for this and add the additional credits to your submission. :darn

Sorry for not responding sooner, ~Coffee~. What Yabe said is correct. If membership is required to see the website, then a link to the home page is sufficient; just try to credit the original provider of the image in some fashion (preferrably by mentioning the name of the original provider in a situation like this, but if you don't, there is really no way that I could check if I don't have membership to the site myself :amuse).

(I got your PM on the matter, but since you asked here as well, I decided it would be simplest to respond here. I just wanted you to know that I read it though. ;))

Yeah, the rules apply to everyone and each submission, but I suppose that I am really lenient and soft on such matters. I don't like to delete submissions that don't follow the rules, and as long as the rules aren't violated in a major fashion, I usually let it slide. Also, depending on what rule is being broken (and how severely it is broken), I might let it slide the one time but contact the user if it becomes habitual.

When it comes to the size of submissions, just try to keep the submissions within a reasonable proximity to the the size specifications in the rules. There are some rules that I do strictly enforce, and in those situations, I usually try to contact the user via PM to get it fixed.

Also, I am not omniscient and may miss or misread something. If you ever notice one of the rules being broken, feel free to PM me about it and I will contact that user (but if it is something like a submission being 350KB instead of the max 300KB, then it is not as much of a big deal, while 600KB would be something big).

For the size, like I said, I am not a big stickler about such things. The size specifications are more as guidelines than solid rules. I just ask that contestants keep the size specifications in mind when making their entries. :hbunny

The new sig contest is now up and ready to go! The new theme is dragon. I hope you like it. I wanted to go with something a little less touchy-feely given the last two themes and thought this would be good for a change of pace. :tem Let me know what you think, and when you guys submit, always feel free to discuss your submissions. :)

Like always, the voting period for the previous contest has also started. There are quite a few entries in this one and quite a few really good ones at that. I still am unsure for which one I am going to vote. Good luck to contestants! My heart goes out to all of you. ;) :XD

One new question ~ Where is the submission thread for Dragon?

Tsukisama
February 27, 2010, 11:51 PM
Here (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58497) is the new submission thread. Whenever a new contest begins, the new submission thread is stickied, and the old submission thread is closed and unstuck. Also, links to the contests are always in the Shoutbox at the top of the screen. (I know some people don't have the shoutbox expanded to show contests, but you really should. :amuse)

Yo Tsukisama! Your back! :tem

I'm going to start working on some ideas for the Dragon theme very soon :plot. Great theme choice btw! :thumbs

The 'Heart' sig's are all looking good! I would say TeAm#7FoReVer's submission would've instantly won if the theme was lust....:smile-big don'tcha think so?? xD j/k

Sorry Tsukisama for asking such a retarded question, I knew where it should have been, but I guess I was being blind.. Right after I asked the question, I went back and found it. I would have edited my post (but there is no edit available[?]) or posted again (but Im not sure how frowned upon double posts are here.)

XD

I'm sorry. I would have thought that the generality of the themes was a plus :sweat, but I can also try to think of more specific themes to use in the future as well. :tem

It's okay. Everyone has moments like that. You could have made a second post, and that post would have automatically merged with your first post, but it wasn't a big deal. :)

You are right that edits are disabled for this section; this is because we did not want users to edit their contest submissions and, since we can't selectively make only certain threads not editable, the entire section was made as such.

NinjahKat, I think your submission is very nice (especially for your first one) and not that cluttered at all. The intertwining of the two dragons is dynamic and beautiful in a primal way like fire and ice. That ball in the middle also makes me think of the golden snitch from Harry Potter, but I know that is not what it is meant to be. :amuse

I can't make out what the image you used in the background is supposed to be, but it looks really interesting and cool; is it from something or original? It reminds me of an image a friend of mine made in a graphic design course.

NinjahKat

The design in the background isn't really supposed to be anything in particular. It's just supposed to represent the clash of two opposing forces. So the two colors in the background join together in the middle.

For the background design I just overlayed this and played with it a little: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/3085/9copiaeu4.png - which was not made by me.

Not sure how I did the middle part of the background. Luck mostly.

The center thing reminded me of the golden snitch too :p I don't even know what they're fighting over. Maybe it's an egg or something. I don't know much about dragons.

I have been sick for the past several days, but I am glad to see that two more submissions have been made in my absence!!! They both look very nice. :hbunny

A new sig contest will soon be starting, and I had two ideas for it based on the upcoming holiday, St. Patrick's Day. As such, I have added a poll to this thread so that you can help me decide. Feel free to post your thoughts in addition to the vote. :tem

I voted for luck (lol sounds/feels wrong when you read it!). I reckon that theme would be a real challenge for all of us. Arigato NinjahKat! That's a really useful website! :thumbs

I've been experimenting in these past two sig contests on how to attract votes and I must say this coming week I think I've cracked the formulae! :D The person who's inspired/influenced me the most with this, is definitely this guy right here....

No problem. It doesn't work well with some pictures. But it works the quite well with anime ones.

And bleh! Green is my least favorite color. :darn
