This thread is dedicated to two of my all time favorite games...Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Here you can list songs you like, how long it took you to complete the game, songs you hate, and other random stuff.

My favorite all time song comes from GHIII....Dragonforce's Through the Fire and Flames. I had always loved that song, and when I found out it was on III, I was estatic!

GO!!!!

I downloaded "Message in a Bottle" by the Police on Rock Band last Friday. I just love singing that song!!! I also like singing Still Alive by GlaDOS and all the Weezer songs.

I used to play Guitar Hero a lot, but since Rock Band came out...

My roommate loves anything weezer. as for me, i then to go for anything hardcore. i love all the metallica songs. some of my other favorite songs are "welcome home" by coheed and cambria, "thunderhorse" by dethklok (the band from metalocalypse), "the light that blinds" by shadows fall (i absolutely love the intro and transition from slow to extremely fast), and "learn to fly" by the foo fighters.

i am starting on hard for the games on guitar, but im on easy for the drums. dont ever ask me to sing. i break ear drums.

edit: i got the group that sung "the light that blinds" wrong and corrected it. i guess i need more sleep.

"Learn to Fly" is awesome!!!! We should get together to play someday. :p
You play the guitar and I sing.

I can actually play the guitar and sing at the same time in some songs. O_O

I promise I'll post videos of me playing some day. XD

I looooooove Guitar Hero =D Though I can't play any songs past Medium xD One of my all-time favorite songs is F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X by Fall of Troy. I found it in GHIII as one of the unlockable song and I was soooooooooooo happy! I only own I and II, but my neighbor has III and lets me play it.

I haven't played GH in a while, but I really love Rock Band. It's a nice game to get with friends and jam to. I'll be getting the newly unveiled Guitar Hero: Metallica, fo sho, that'll be kick ass off the shizzie. I'll also be buying Guitar Hero IV solely for the Dream Theater song :D. Finally my favorite underground band gets a little less underground. Other than that, the games are fun and engaging. GH got boring really fast for me, probably because of my taste in music, but Rock Band keeps me going due to the PlayStation Store (just downloaded Hysteria by Muse last night) and the whole friends getting together aspect. Good stuff though, can't wait to hear what songs GH: Metallica will have. Maybe they'll have the entire discography!! (fanboys can dream, too!!!)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass - June 2, 2008 – Harmonix Music Systems, the leading developer of music-based games, and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), announced today that they will team up with Q Entertainment, a leading Japanese music game designer, to bring the best-selling music videogame Rock Band to Japan. The two studios will work together to develop the title, marking the first US-originated rock music game to be heavily localized for the Japanese market. The game will feature Japanese musical acts as well as other localized assets.

If Japanese songs are made available to the Western market as well, and there's Asian Kung-Fu Generation in it, I'll seriously wet my pants... O_O

Green Grass and High Tides is a pretty cool song to play on guitar. Also, is Rock Band coming out in Japan? >_>

I love Guitar Hero, but I can only play it during school when I can mooch the game off of my suitemate! :) I'm pretty good in Hard mode--not great, but good--and can pass a few Expert songs. (The really repetitive ones!)

When I saw "Ruby" and "Knights of Cydonia" in GHIII, I was so happy. Those songs (and "Sweet Child of Mine") are my favorite tracks.

I'm actually excited about the new Aerosmith GH. I may actually get spend money(!) to buy a copy for my Wii. I didn't know about the Metallica version; that's awesome too. If I could just play "Enter Sandman," I'd be so happy!

Music games rock in general. ;)

You should try out Rock Band if you have the means, they have a few Metallica songs in the game, and it just so happens Enter Sandman is one of them. Sadly, the rest of the songs are for download-only. The other songs are: Blackened, ...And Justice For All, and Ride The Lightning, all great songs. Blackened is so fun to play with a group of friends, rockin' out to it.

No clue...I think that it either came out recently in Europe or is due to sometime this summer...

My friend loves "Knights of Cydonia"...so much that he had that as his MySpace profile song (I think he still does)! I first played Guitar Hero III for Wii (my roommate's boyfriend has one) and afterwards bought the first two for my PS2...

I so want Guitar Hero on Tour for DS...if only I could "borrow" my sister's...:notrust

Seriously?
I love GH and I love my DS, but i'm not excited about On Tour at all...the addon is strange, looks like it's a pain to play, the strumming looks like it's going to make many touch screens break soon, and i don't even like to imagine the quality of the songs on the DS speakers...if we could just play it like we played GH with the dualshock, it would be ok - not as nearly as fun than playing with the guitar, but a lot less embarassing than using that addon. ;p

EvilGenious
June 10, 2008, 05:31 PM
I just want to see how difficult it would be to play...seriously, the add-on only has four frets! That's practically equal to medium on the regular console games. Strumming on the touch screen might be the most difficult portion of the whole game!

Does anyone knows what songs are going to be exactly on the DS version? I haven't done the research yet on the song listings...but I fear that there are probably going to be many repeats from III and maybe the first two games...that's the only thing that I wouldn't be looking forward to...

If anyone plays Guitar Hero III on the 360, add me on my gamertag (Akina Snow) for some Expert Pro-face off. Or co-op. :)

Waaaaaaa, why is this thread so dead!!!!?????

So many amazing stuff have been happening during the last year for music games.

Anyway, I realized I could tape myself while playing Rock Band and this is the outcome:

It's dead because the game's dead. :(

At least GH. It died after GH3 imo. Now they're just making the games to earn money. Before it felt like they took the best of the best and combined an awesome game. Now they're not developing anything, they are just switching skins and changing songs. :(

Yeah, there was undoubtedly a decline in the music game genre, especially from Activision (Guitar Hero). But I have to give it up for Rock Band, they have not been "milking the cow" and instead they have focused on constant innovation, such as the upcoming Rock Band Network, which is gonna be awesome.

blai
September 16, 2009, 04:45 PM
Indeed, I haven't played Rock Band for a long time. I tried it out in the big... conference room where we gathered before we auditioned to Idol last year. They had the whole set. Drums, guitars, mics and stuff. It was awesome.

Unfortunately it's too expensive... and I don't have a wii either :(

rykarreolacr
September 16, 2009, 05:03 PM
Yeah it is substantial investment... Especially if you plan on purchasing the songs you like. I have spent something like 300 400 bucks only in downloadable content...

blai
September 16, 2009, 05:11 PM
How many songs do they have? And how much is each song? Is it like buying a real song, 1dollar?

rykarreolacr
September 16, 2009, 05:18 PM
They have way too many songs. XDDDD I think more than 800.
There's all the DLC, RB 1 & 2, the AC/DC Track Pack, the upcoming Lego Rock Band, and the recently released The Beatles Rock Band (this one is not compatible with the rest).

Here's the full list of downloadable songs (each song is $2, some are $1)

September 17, 2009, 09:13 AM
Ok... Woah! 800songs is a LOT for a game like that.
wait... what?

LEGO ROCK BAND????
That...sounds...wicked :o

September 17, 2009, 02:18 PM
Lego Rock Band is gonna be pretty insane. XD
The value behind that game is that it has very good songs which can be exported to the hard drive to play on Rock Band 2.

blai
September 17, 2009, 02:37 PM
Yeah, insane's the word. I've been a fan of the "lego" games since Lego Starwars and imagine the stage, musicians in the game and stuff. Everything in lego... jeez that'd be something.

When's it gonna be released? Going to poke my friend to get it!

rykarreolacr

Late November if I'm not mistaken.
