Bloody Monday is a manga about a teenage hacker working for the PSIA (a Japanese version of the CIA), who gets himself involved into a very dangerous case. A virus has wiped out a town in Russia on christmas eve and he's the one to discover this secret. Therefor, he suddenly made himself a lot of enemies, involving his family and friends. On top of that, there seems to be a spy within the PSIA ranks. What happened in Russia exactly and how deep is Japan involved?

This manga has very pretty artwork, interesting characters and a thrilling main plot. It's a little ecchi (the current villain should have at least d-cup >.>) and contains a good amount of gore, violence and merciless killed people but also comedy. The main character and the hacker topic, though, is pretty cliche. He's your "more or less average school boy caught in something not normal" and acts partly very... ehrrrm... naive. It really contradicts with the cruel and bloody murders in this manga. Also, the hacking skills aren't anything you haven't seen in several movies before but I find his superhero-like hacker pose very funny :XD

I've only read the first few scanlated chapters out of 6 volumes ongoing so far, so I hope the lacking parts will change for the better. It has potential, imho. But you shouldn't expect a too deep story behind this. Still, it's a very nice read for in between :)

Also, a J-Drama based on this manga will be airing on October 11, 2008.

Good manga... I liked it but nobody has taken up on the project since S^3 & Gievmoar's demise. Such a shame ;_;

Maybe the lack of public raw hasn't helped this manga either... at least we would see some scans running around by one-man teams or something.

Yes, it's sadly been a while since the last release but I thought a discussion thread may raises some interest. Plus, they totally left us with a cliffhanger ;__;

This manga is certainly not outstanding (so far) but still a good one which is worth to pick up. Weekly Shounen Magazine also is not a magazine too far off from being scanned as it contain several active scanlated series. But well, we will see ._.

I wouldn't mind buying the raw and scanalating them if we only had a translator.

That would be great!

Well, let's try this for now:

The life action tv series started airing.

I doubt that there's enough interest to create an own thread for it, so I'll just post the screenshots here for those who want to take a look:
Gallery: http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/taheca/bloodymonday/?start=all

The first episode runs 95 minutes. It covers more than the scanlated chapters contain but it also differs a lot, particularly in details (e.g. the laptop falls into water and doesn't explode in the microwave). All happenings and the main plot are basically the same with some variants. Takagi's friends aren't involved at all so far and the kidnapping of his sister develops very differently from the current chapters. I don't know how accurate the following terrorist attack is to the cannon story, so be aware that the later pictures could contain manga spoiler.

Not much gore and typical TV acting, but enjoyable. I like the Hacker scenes. They let a falcon symbolically fly through a building overlapped with computer terminals and techno-like background sound, pretty cool >D

A great series. I only started reading it a week ago, But it has really grown on me. The feel of it reminds me of Alive the Last Evolution.

I just started reading. Great series. I don't really like Falcon, but the story develops really well. Also I like the detective part of this series. Reminds be bit of Monster.. just a bit.

This manga really lacks attention. Anyway, I just found on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/fudgeflake) the whole Live-Drama series (http://jdorama.com/drama_1343.htm). Made in Nippon-24 style xD The first episode is encoded in bad quality, but the the other are decent.

Season 2 starts this week, Heiji - Sama scanned the preview page:

58p. and color. I'm curious what the new season will be about. I'm just glad it won't be a 21st Century Boys style epilogue, something I worried about as the scans were coming for part 1.

October 11, 2009, 01:31 PM
Yeah very glad its not an epilouge....that would kill me!!!

But I wonder how the story will proress...did members of the cult survive? Or is there some new group who has gotten ahold of the virus and actually plans to use it?

"J" is still alive, and he still has his minions. I imagine he will be involved, even if he remains a Hannibal Lecter type character. Hopefully he does appear, he was my favorite character. Maya also survived and probably wants revenge. Considering how part I ended it could be an unrelated enemy.

I imagine an unrelated enemy working with maybe Maya cause she seems like the type to want revenge. But I see "J" as not working with the enemy this time around or having a seperate agenda completely unrelated to the enemy in the new season.

Its possible he works with the good guys this time but that would just seem a little weird for my taste.

Kaiten

If "J" were to work with the good guys it could be in the same capacity he did last time, less to aid them then disrupt the bad guys and promote his agenda. At some point in the series he could become the "main" villain, but for now I see him as furthering his agenda from the sideline. The fact that he is Otoya's brother could also come into play.

Totally agree about Maya. I can't imagine her as a criminal mastermind but I can see her either attaching herself to the new villain to get revenge. I can also see her seeking revenge as an interrelated subplot, launching an independent attack on Fujimaru.

Bloody Monday's back. With several bangs. And already a plot tweest in chapter 1.

I'm not digging Fujimaru's new hair though. Also, the main trio seems to have distanced themselves from T-I after their traumatic experience in S1.

Obviously not for long. :p

I'm currently at the point where "J" escaped from the restaurant after his meeting with Takagi.

I must say it's definitely an enjoyable read, yet I expected more, till now I could predict everything that was going to happen. :o And the way it's going, it's going to stay that way.

Which is rather bad for a psychological kind of manga.
