yes!! i have Highspeed and at times downloads go at a slow pace of 6kbs- which sucks. When my modem generates over 50Mbps. so for your speed it is really normal. just give it time.

i tried that a million times...first i have to wait 10 minutes for the download to prepare. then another 80 seconds after that. then, when the link appears, i click it and i get this:

GOKURO-3君 (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/member.php?u=48988) pointed out that a new Data-Book for Naruto, called 者の書 (Translation: The People's Scroll/The Wielder's Scroll), is going to be published.

It will be released on September the 4th in Japan, and will contain over 120 Ninjas (and their data) and over 110 Jutsus, as said in chapter 411.

(Poster speaking) So, in other words, this forbidden jutsu is that seaweed stuff, and it's called Jiongu (characters are literally "earth - grudge - fear"... I'll translated it as... umm... Geogrudgeaphobia, "the fear of people who hold a grudge against the Earth"... Or not).

Not to sure about this one, it seems that Madara's brother was named Izuna and that the downfall of their clan has to do with the loss of Madara's eyesight and that decendents would fight over blindness.

Hi guys. I've been in hiding recently (more like swamped with homework and the like), but I just wanted to post that I got the Databook today and thought I'd share a few random tidbits. I've barely even skimmed through it, though...

Are scans for the entire book up at this point?

I'm completely out of touch, so you'll forgive me if I give info that's already out there. I'll also be checking this thread and, while I can't do translations, I can answer questions on the content (specially if I'm given the page and or topic).

A. Kishimoto says the following questions will be answered:

1. Why the seal on the Kyuubi is gradually weakening.
2. Why Naruto started turning into the four tail version of the Nine Tails.
3. What Karin did for Sasuke before (my guess: blowjob).
4. If Kushina (Naruto's mom) is still alive at this point or not.
5. How Kakashi got the Mangekyou.

Stuff I've found interesting in my perusing.

B. Hidan is from the village of "hot water" (hot springs), so what you see on his forehead protector is steam, I guess. The village is small and has been drastically downsized due to the reigning peace and prosperity. The Church of Jashin's motto is "thou shalt massacre thy neighbour" (literal trans), and it attracted him because he was fed up with his peaceful village. He's 22 years old and gained his "immortality" by being a test subject for kinjutsu experiments carried out by his church. His "curse jutsu" can be done by anyone who knows how, but unless you're immortal you're not gonna get very far with it.

C. Chiyo was 73 years old, and not 150 as previously speculated (by me).

D. Kakuzu was 91 years old, which makes him the oldest with perhaps the exception of Madara, who's age is not revealed.

E. Madara's brother was named Izuna, and he died in battle, after he'd given up his eyes. Why they'd send a blind man into battle is beyond me.

F.The "three great doujutsu" are confirmed to be "Sharingan", "Byakugan" and "Rinnegan." The only confirmed power of Rinnegan is to allow a person to use all five elements.

G. Kishimoto answers the question of what would happen if a Hyuuga and an Uchiha had a kid in a humorous tone: one of the kid's eye's would be Sharingan, the other Byakugan.

H. Deidara was 19 years old. Heh! Pretty young.

I. Kakashi's Mangekyou Jutsu is called "Kamui" (Power of the Gods).

J. Design wise, Pain's beads are meant to evoque "self infliction" of pain.

K. Konan's wearing a pretty sexy gettup under that Akatsuki cloak. It's kinda like Karin's outfit, except strapless, and partially reveals her outter bossom. She's got a pierced belly buttom.

L. Gaara's lost Shukaku, but not his use of sand and his trademark eyes.

Ok guys, I don't know if I should post it here or somewhere else. I haven't even reread it (it's laaaate), and I don't think it's polished enough to deserve a place in some Translation thread, but anyway, I thought it might be interesting to you.

I bought the guidebook this morning and copied/translated some stuff from it. I basically took the post straight from my LiveJournal to post it here (after changing some tags obviously). Enjoy :p

I included: a few character stats, a LOT of character height/weight/age/birthday data, name of previously unnamed charas/jutsu, translations of polls/rankings, Kishimoto creation sketches & comments, Q&A session, special 5 pages manga.

It also contains (crappy) photos I took with my iBook's webcam. Sorry for the absence of thumbnails, I've had enough problem uploading the normal pictures already... (hypercrappy connection)

By the way, this guide covers the manga up until volume 43 included, thus it also has everything about Uchiha, Itachi's death, the story Madara tells Sasuke etc etc

This is a quick overview (http://www.clockwork-angel.net/nayama/shanosho/shanosho02.jpg) of some character's growth, that is their abilities in Sha no Sho compared to how they were in Tou no Sho (2nd guidebook). I know it's impossible to read and it's also pretty difficult to see the lines, but anyway, you mainly need to know what the 8 points are. Starting from the top, clockwise:

Most of the points definitely don't surprise me.
Naruto's intelligence grew a lot.. He's almost as smart as Sasuke (-0.5 points) XD Sakura is smarter than both (0.5 points higher than Sasuke). I'm surprised about Neji, I thought he was smarter :p
Naruto should really improve his seal ability... Maybe now that he's been training for Rasen Shuriken etc he will also do that..
Sakura improved a lot, though apparently, as strong as she looks, her taijutsu and physical strength are still lower than the other boys' (well, yes, she's a woman indeed and most of her strength depends on her chakra control, but anyway).

-Kagura Shingan: Karin uses this jutsu to check a vast range around her. It's labeled as "hiden".
-Kagerou: the jutsu Zetsu uses to vanish and reapper in/from the ground.

-Naruto: "The forehead protector is slightly wider"
"Actually, the main characteristic of Naruto's clothes is his forehead protector. In the earlier version the line used to show the "thickness" of the metal and the line of the cloth part were very close, and that made it kind of difficult to draw the eyebrows that were right under that. For this reason, I made the cloth wider. This made both the metal's and the cloth's thickness visible, plus the eyebrows are a lot easier to draw. Besides that I also removed the rolled up part of Naruto's pants and changed his shoes from sandals to high-cut boots. Showing too much the ankle looked childish, so I tried to fix that."
-Sakura: "Sakura changed from China-style dress to karate suit..."
"I changed Sakura's clothes from the previous China-style ones to a more lively karate suite style. I gave her boots and gloves. The upper part, though, still has a Chinaesque feeling to it, so as to make her more feminine."

"I changed my mind a lot of times in my quest to make him look cool. I tried to put a "shimenawa" (the rope, ndt) around him to preserve Orochimaru's style.. "The previous Ino was covered in bandages, so I first removed those. Then I thought about the ease of movement, and since she's a girl I tried to leave some parts of her body exposed."

"Hidan uses curses and such, so I wanted him to look similar to a shinigami. That's why he carries a scythe and bones. I originally planned the scythe to have a lot of tricks, but I didn't have time to show all of them... (LOL)."
-Konan: "Yeah, she's obscene... but she wears clothes (LOL)"
"I'd thought since the beginning to have Konan as the only woman in Akatsuki, so I tried to make her somewhat obscene, but...... In truth, she wears the Akatsuki mantle above that (LOL). And then, she transforms into paper right away..."
-Zetsu: "I originally wanted to make Akatsuki into a group of monsters"
"Zetsu is modeled after an insectivorous plant. I originally wanted Akatsuki to be a group of individuals with close to no human characteristics. I decided to make Zetsu half black and half white to better show his double personality."

Deidara's using forbidden jutsu for detonating his clay.
Deidara used to be a well known great artist in his village (Iwagakure = Rock village).
Deidara loved to stay in the Akatsuki, because he thought all of the Akatsuki members are kind of artistic and is easy to get a chance to fight against a strong enemy by catching Biju.

Answering the question "Is there anything interesting in Itachi's profile, for example about his illness?"

About Itachi, let's see.. I browsed the entry (it's a bit long, I didn't read it fully, but I think my overview was decently thorough XD) and most of it just says what we already know, that is Itachi's past, what he did for the village, Sasuke etc. It doesn't say anything about his illness, his blindness or such :/ It doesn't even say anything about how he obtained his Mangekyou in detail or about Shisui, which I would've actually liked to know.. I still hope we will find out one day...

The only thing that might be interesting to know, or well, that might be useful to explain what happened in the manga, is what it says under "Naruto" and "Mangekyou Sharingan".
Under "Naruto" it says that Itachi saw Naruto as the one person able to save Sasuke and the village, that's why he told him what he did and "he put his hopes in him". And I guess also why he gave him some of his strength, though that isn't mentioned. This piece of info doesn't surprise me, but maybe some people were wondering...
Under "Mangekyou Sharingan" it says "He sacrificed himself and by having his younger brother witness his death he left him the 'Mangekyou Sharingan'. 'I will always exist, with you'... Itachi decided to continue to protect Sasuke even after his death." Judging by how it's written, it looks like the point (to get the Mangekyou, I mean) is not Sasuke killing Itachi, but Sasuke seeing Itachi die.

Anyway, any info on... Kakashi's MS Jutsu [not how he got MS, but the Implosion Jutsu he used on Deidara] would be great.

Also, Sanshuuou's purpose.... was the anime right in their "it's a defensive puppet" showing or not?

And any more info on Zetsu? Verification of his being from the Kusagakure?

Any updates to the map as we know it, or do we remain only knowing 9-10 country names/locations and having to guess on the rest?
[We know the 5 Great Nations, Kusa, Taki, Ame and Oto.... as well as the Wave Country, and the River Country... so 11 nations, 9 of which with Shinobi.... Where is this Yugakure, for instance?]

Also, is there a name for a number of this cool-yet-unnamed Jutsu, such as the Kyuubi super-blast, Sasuke's various Raiton, or Hidan's techniques?


Kakashi's MS jutsu is called Kamui. I didn't read the whole entry, but it appears to be Kakashi's original doujutsu, which probably means that only he with his Mangekyou can use it.

As for Kankurou, yes, the guide calls Sanshouuo (<-correct spelling btw) "iron wall" and says that its purpose is "to protect". This new defensive puppet is basically likened to Kankurou's will to protect his younger brother.

Zetsu has no mark, so we can't be sure yet :/ (other Akatsuki members have the mark on their profile even if they're nukenin, like for example Sasori has the Sand mark) Close to nothing is said about him. His task in Akatsuki seems to be the recording of fights for Madara to see, but it's obviously unclear what his real purpose is.

In the legend we're shown the following Shinobi village marks: Leaf, Sand, Sound, Mist, Rain, Cloud, Waterfall, Grass, Rock, Hot Water (the last one is where Hidan comes from). There are no updated maps though, so we don't know about the countries :/ And there's no info on the whereabouts of the Hot Water village.

The Kyuubi super-blast has no name. I think it might be because it's not an actual jutsu... It seems to be more like a thing bijuu can do (Hachibi did it as well), it doesn't require seals or such..
There are no techniques for Sasuke under "Raiton", apart from the Chidori variations (that are just called "Chidori something"), which are Chidori Eisou (if you see Sasuke blasting beams from his hand, it's that), Chidori Senbon and Chidori Nagashi. Kirin is also featured, of course.
Hidan's only featured technique is called Jujutsu - Shijihyouketsu, and it's the one where he draws the symbol on the ground etc etc.



I am surprised that we finally got stats on the Sannin and Itachi. I wonder if they will include the first, second and all of the dead Akatsuki members.

As for Shouten no Jutsu, it says this:
"Pain gives to a subject a part of an Akatsuki member's chakra to create a sophisticated 'copy' that is used to fight in their place. The ability of the copy is proportional to the chakra that was given to it, and it's also possible to use the original's abilities. However, when the chakra is over the jutsu ends and the subject dies. It's a merciless jutsu that uses up even the subject's own chakra."

The captions say:
-"Pain is the one who decides the chakra quantity and performs the jutsu."
-"With Shouten no Jutsu the copy is also able to use the same weapons and ninja tools as the original." (like for example Kisame's Samehada, ndt)
-"After Shouten no Jutsu is used, the copy looks exactly the same as the original."

With "Pain's sealing jutsu" you mean the one that is done to Jinchuuriki?

It's called "Fuuinjutsu - Genryuu Kyuufuujin".

The text says:
"It can be performed by a maximum of 10 shinobi at the same time, that by focusing their minds together can start up the sealing statue. The 'absorbing chakra' radiating from its mouth extracts the bijuu's chakra and seals it. The whole process takes days to be performed by Akatsuki-level shinobi; average ninja wouldn't even be able to summon the statue."

Nothing special about Nagato. It talks about how the Second Ninja War totally ruined his life. He lost both his parents. But at that time he miraculously gained one of the 3 Great Doujutsu, the Rinnegan, when he was trying to save his friend. (at least confirms that he wasn't born with it . He activated it while saving Yahiko)

Rikudou Sennin: Nothing new. All as stated in the manga.

He is the ancestor of shinobi. He created all the jutsu. He can bring peace or destruction to the world. I can't read the last sentence though.

"Village of the Bloody Mist" refers to the Hidden Village of Mist, feared for its extreme customary practice. 16 years ago, a child prodigy was born in this village. This is the younger of the Houzuki brothers - Suigetsu. Having the powers unique to his clan and reputed to be the "reincarnation of the Kijin" (refers to Zabuza), Suigetsu, together with his brother Mangetsu, dreamt to inherit the title of Shinobi Gatana (ninja swords) and this acted as their motivation to finish cruel missions day by day... Then this dream shattered with the death of his brother, and Suigetsu changed his ambition to "collecting all the swords". With the humiliation of being captured by Orochimaru, his ambition could not be fulfilled. Now that he is freed from his water prison, Suigetsu can once again walk towards his goal.

Tobirama (2nd) inherited the role of Hokage from his brother and he was the one who set up the Police team, the Ninja Academy and the chuunin exam (I guess that's why it's held in Konoha). He cared a lot about the peace and stability in the village.

Hiruzen's profile doesn't say much. Just that he was the most loved Hokage (by the citizens) and that his feelings towards Konoha were basically those of a father towards his children.

The jutsu is called Fuujutsu Kyuuin (kind of "sealing technique of absorption"). It's a fuuinjutsu, but it has no rank because it's probably unique to Pain. It says:
"By reversing the chakra circulation in his body Pain is able to absorb the jutsu that are sent towards him. He then disperses the chakra he absorbed and swallows his power like a bottomless swamp."
The caption says that it's possible to absorb any jutsu, regardless of its element.




No further info about Kekkei Genkai and Light/Dark (I don't really know what is meant by Light/Dark though...). There are 4 pages about chakra's seishitsu henka (element/quality modification) and keitai henka (shape modification), but I'm kind of tired to translate them now.. The guide contains information for 3 people who rejoiced during Gaara's revival.

The Cerberus summon is referred to as zoufuku kuchiyose no jutsu, meaning roughly "summoning amplification technique"


He can modify his body to make his wrist detachable and shot out like a missile. Chakra is focused at the joint to create a small explosion that propels the wrist/hand in a straight line towards the target. Its destructive power is strong enough to destroy a rock plate(?) easily. Chakra will protect the hand from getting hurt. Chakra at the joint can act like a magnet to attract and re-attach the hand.


Kabuto's profile page has the same problem most of them have in regards to translation: the kanji is too small and/or blurry to make out the radicals correctly, but I can tell you that his profile data is exactly the same from the first two books, except for two small things: he's gotten slightly taller and his "Wants to Fight" section is no longer "Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto"--it's now Orochimaru and Uzumaki Naruto.

Also, the top sentence reads: "Serving the wicked, forcibly possesed by the snake (interesting note: the verb conjugation used for "possess" is the one used when describing something you were forced to do or made to do, something you would have rather not done, emphasis mine. Ji-on-gu 地怨虞 (B ranked)
A grotesque jutsu that controls chakra in the form of black tentacles emerging from the body that is capable of long distance combat. Using this, Kakuzu can choose to fight close-up or faraway. Also, the tentacles can be used to grab the opponents' hearts and exploits the use of the various elements of chakra obtained, this is how he could use all the basic five types of element-based jutsus and also live as a semi-immortal with his prolonged lifespan.

Doton - Domu 土遁・土矛 (B ranked)
A highly generic/all-purpose jutsu that makes use of the chakra flowing all over the body to harden the skin in order to maximise defence and increase damage in physical offense. While its weakness is that the hardened parts of the body could not move, with the exception of Raiton (Lightning attacks), Domu is a technique that is unbreakable by everything else.

Fuuton - Atsugai 風遁。圧害 (B ranked)
One of Kakuzu's hearts releases a tremendous "Fuuton Ninjutsu" (Wind type ninjutsu). Once the high density and pressured tornado hits its target, the wind pressure can blow everything away. A person who masters the Seishitsu Henka of the Wind element can cause a massive whirlwind that smashes up the surroundings, causing massive damage and casualties.

Raiton - Gi-an 雷遁・偽暗 (B ranked)
Kakuzu has a grotesque form in his body that holds the Raiton jutsu. It releases lightning that takes on a shape of a very sharp spear and pierces through the enemies. It is so sharp that it can even pierce through rocks and is an ability that deals out excruciatingly heavy damage.


I'm too lazy to decipher them in the past and even now, but I've finally read it today.

First of all, Seishitsu Henka 性質変化 (manipulation of (chakra) elements)
Seishitsu Henka is when chakra is added to elements like fire or wind to create a more powerful effect. Though individual talent is needed to master this, most people are able to master one such element easily. Among the jounins, many are able to master at least two elements.

Fire: Burns everything it touches, a high temperature chakra that is like fire. Can burn objects and like the wind element, it is a specialised offensive type of chakra.

Wind: A chakra that cuts through everything like a blade. When used on special ninja weapons or deployed in jutsu, it is best for short to middle distance offensive attacks.

Lightning: Easy to spread out and suitable for jutsu that are middle to long distance in offense. When used with metal based weapons, the effects get multiplied!

Earth: Has the ability to change the hardness and composition of all objects. A person who masters this element can make an object to be as solid as metal or soft as clay in his jutsu.

Water: It is very compatible the diverse "Form Modification". Whether it is in the form of a fog for masking your form or to trap someone in a tsunami, its auxilliary capability is very high.

Keitai Henka (形態変化) (manipulation of shape/form)
Keitai Henka manipulates the chakra form itself to create the "shape" of the ninjutsu and controls the power and area effect of the chakra. While Seishitsu Henka emphasizes and brings out the form of the chakra's elements, this particular technique is largely dependent on the user's conceptualizations, the skill's system, method of mastering it, etc. Many of the skills now are the results of the achievements of the earlier users.

Rinnegan

Text Body:
The "Rinnegan", the doujutsu (eye technique) said to have been the origin of ninjutsu. Presently, not even a portion of the abilities generated through this most supreme of doujutsu, possesed by Pain, is certain. What is obvious, however, is that the Rinnegan serves as a great hint in identifying who or what Pain truly is. In the past, one of the Sannin, Jiraiya, raised and mentored a young boy named Nagato; the reason being that this boy too was in possession of the Rinnegan. Currently, it is not reasonable to assume that he and Pain are indeed one in the same. Still, judging from Pain's conversation with Jiraiya, and given that Konan is by Pain's side, at the absolute least it is certain that there is some form of connection between Nagato and Pain.

Hmm well.. in Itachi's page it doesn't say anything about a "coup d'etat", it only says that the upper levels of Konoha suspected the Uchiha to have caused the Kyuubi's attack, and eventually years later Itachi was sent to exterminate them. The "Uchiha clan" page says that Itachi informed the upper levels of the Uchiha clan's planned coup d'etat. Anyway, from tidbits here and there it *does* look like Madara's story is correct, but I guess we should translate everything and only trust what's actually written.. You never know.. XD; *tends to distrust Madara*

First of all, there is a relationship chart in which Karin and Sakura's arrows towards Sasuke say "in love with" (好き), Hinata's arrow towards Naruto says "admires/thinks of him as a role model" (憧れ) and Sakura's arrow towards Naruto says "is worried about him" (身を案じる). Naruto and Sasuke have no arrows towards them, so that's unknown.
However, I wouldn't take those arrows too literally. If Hinata's blushing and all is "admiration", then Sakura's "is worried about him" might be something more too. It doesn't really look to me like she's still in love with Sasuke, but anyway, there are no actual proof of their love for anybody, so that cannot be deemed as certain yet.

Anyway... I read Sakura's entry. It has no "Sasuke" sections, but it does have a "Naruto" section. Which I'll translate for your pleasure XD

From Sakura's chara page, "Naruto" section:
"Since when she was a child Sakura had always felt admiration and a feeling similar to love for Sasuke. Naruto was just an "annoying" boy who stood in the middle between Sakura and Sasuke and disturbed their relationship. Welllllll..... XD;; I don't know, I kind of appreciate the pairing so I might be biased, but I think this is pretty obvious... (and YES, I assure you the translation is correct and unbiased :p).

By the way, as for Sasuke and Sakura, there's only a "Promise" section that talks about her resolve to bring back Sasuke, to prevent her friends to be hurt again and such. Hmm yeah, there's not really much about Sasuke in her profile, despite the "suki" in the relationship chart XD;; I think the relationship chart kind of, uhm, only shows the characters' conscious feelings towards each other..

Hinata only has one page so it has no sections. It says about Naruto that he was the one who was able to change her and encourage her, that she admires him very much and it's thanks to him if she's the girl we now know. There's a panel of the scene when she sees Naruto for the first time after three years and the caption says "Ironically, right before Naruto, the one who changed her, Hinata's timidity still peaks." This is the only thing I can do for you NaruHina fans out there XD;;;



As for Hidan, it does seem from the info written in the book that his immortality depends on him continuing to kill people.. So uhm, I guess he might be actually dead?

As for Orochimaru, it says that he was sealed by the Sword of Totsuka and now what is left of him is a faint presence inside of Kabuto. The caption leaves us wondering whether Kabuto will succeed in overpowering Orochimaru's cells inside of him or not. So yeah, I wouldn't consider Orochimaru "dead".. His attachment to life is really really strong, I don't think Kabuto's willpower will be able to overpower him...

The answer is apparently... YES! I just read Madara's page. One of the captions says: "Madara, disappeared from history, puts on a mask and starts to move as Tobi."

I guess this proves it right? I still don't get why they have two different profiles despite the statement of them being the same person, but anyway.. There might be some trick behind it all, but the fact that they're the same person is pretty much certain.

I actually think someone posted info on Kakuzu's background, but since people keep on asking about it I'll summarize it...

His entry said that his village sent him on a mission to kill the first Hokage, but Hashirama beat him. When he got back to his village (the Waterfall village btw) they punished him severely because of his failure. He got angry at them because he thought they shouldn't treat like that someone who risked his own life for the village, so he broke out of jail, stole his village's kinjutsu and took the heart of his superior/s (it doesn't say if it's one or more). Then he started to earn money through bounty hunting and was eventually scouted by Akatsuki and given the role of managing the money.




Deidara's jutsu, Kakuzu's threads and Suigetsu transforming into water are all noted as "hiden", not "kekkei genkai", although they don't have a difficulty rank.

Gouryuuka no Jutsu is ranked as B (jounin level).

It says:
"It's made by compressing a large quantity of kneaded chakra inside one's body and blowing it out changing the shape to a fire dragon. The fire can be skillfully manipulated and used to attack the enemy. When mastered it's also possible to release a sequence of flames. The point of this technique is not the attack range as much as its power and reliability; the temperature of the flame is so high that it generates an ascending current, causing thunderclouds to form. Itachi's page says that his death "gave" Sasuke the Mangekyou Sharingan. It doesn't say anything special about it. Moreover, the "Uchiha clan" pages shows the (normal) Mangekyou Sharingan of Madara, Izuna, Kakashi, Itachi, Sasuke, and says "Mangekyou Sharingan has a different shape for every user". Madara's eternal Mangekyou isn't shown on that list, so I guess we can safely state that Sasuke's is just a normal Mangekyou :)

The Leaf or the Sand makes no difference to him: he wishes nothing but to save Gaara from the darkness and share his happiness with him. Just like his teacher Iruka saved him in the past.

But still, he cannot possibly accept as a member of "team Kakashi" someone like Sai, who slights teammates and insults Sasuke...!!

The success of a mission depends on teamwork. They must dismiss their hesitations and just look at what's in front of them...!!

"For my friend". This wholehearted intent brings Naruto to cooperate with Sai.

[Impatience]
He is restless. He is cornered. Just a little more time and Orochimaru would complete his reincarnation. His friend is so close that he can almost touch him. Naruto reaches for the Kyuubi's power...

His "power" still isn't enough to save Sasuke! This thought makes him impatient...!!

The power of the Kyuubi's fourth tail is a double-edged sword that even hurts his own body and the people he is supposed to protect. After hearing the truth from Yamato, Naruto decides that he won't use that power anymore. To protect the ones he cares for, he will believe in his own chakra, that is in fact as resilient as to be able to endure the Kyuubi's.

The Kyuubi tries to break the seal again, but Naruto stops it of his own will.

Yet Naruto believes that somewhere deep in his heart Sasuke still cares for his friends; that he, the one who left him alive in the Valley of the End, still hasn't severed his "bond" with them. Nevertheless, Sasuke cold-heartedly points his sword at Naruto. Is it too late...!? He shakes off the resignation flitting through his mind and summons his fighting spirit. He cannot give up. He has to fulfill the promise!!

As if to highlight the distance between them, Sasuke stands far off.

Sasuke's eyes are even colder than before. His blade attacks Naruto without hesitation!!

"I will never give up".... A "possibility" born from his indomitable nindou.

[Hope]
Sasuke's rescue was a failure. Naruto was shown the difference in their abilities, plus his longstanding feelings were completely rejected. But thanks to the words of his teammates he stands up again. The power gap can be filled. If his voice doesn't reach, he can just step closer. Most importantly, he has friends ready to join forces with him. His fighting spirit burning, Naruto once again runs with his teammates!! Because he believes that "not giving up" is the only means to save Sasuke....

Naruto is able to stand up over and over again because he has friends that run with him.

The presence of a good rival can become a driving force to accelerate one's growth. The existence of Sasuke, the genius boy always in front of Naruto, adds "zeal" to his training! And it eventually makes his talent bloom...!!

The Academy's loser is about to evolve into a shinobi that will become the main force of the next era!!

"Kagebunshin no Jutsu", which can store a person's experience data, is put to practical use right away.

(lol, no harm intended obviously XDDD Just my opinion~)

It's cute, but~... First of all, fonts!

WildWords (the font you used for the balloons and main text) is always used for balloons. Since the databook *also* contains balloons, I think we should differentiate them from the main text. I'd choose a more.. "serious" font for the main text, since this is a guidebook after all.

Also, I would try to use as many fonts as the original version has, or at least a number of them. For example, I'd use different fonts for the following: main text, balloons, captions, catchphrases, character lines (namely the big ones in the first page of each profile). You could use the caption font for the "Ninja registration number etc" part too. Oh, speaking of that part, take off that bold effect, it's hard to read~ XD

Generally, the fonts you used are a bit too.. uhm... comic-oriented, IMVHO. This is a book that is meant to be read more than to be looked at, so I'd use more "normal" fonts. Not necessarily Verdana or the likes, but something that you might use in a normal text document or a poster. A sans-serif font which differentiates upper and lower-case might look good in there.

I'd use the same font for *all* catchphrases, but I'd differentiate them from character lines, otherwise they might be mistaken for the same thing.

Lastly, I would justify the text where it's justified in the Japanese version, because otherwise it tends to look messy with this kind of page layout.. Especially the main text!
And... I would try to avoid having the text cover the pictures (excluding the chara lines that do the same in the Japanese version, obviously! XD). It's still ok to cover the borders like you did with the "The erotic ninjutsu praised.." part, but the "If that's what is needed" part looks really messy that way :/ If the text is too big make it slightly smaller, just don't cover the pics; it will be readable anyway.

...Ok, this is what I suggest XD Did I say I'm picky? 8D;;; You might think "then do it yourself".. I would, if I had more time! I'm already busy doing the translations, editing would be too much Y_Y

Anyway, keep up the good work! :) I'm very grateful to anyone that tries his/her hands at scanlating the guidebooks, plus you did a very admirable thing by asking suggestions, I appreciate it very much! :D

Secondly, I don't know if you possess any Japanese knowledge at all, but if you're not sure about the original meaning you shouldn't paraphrase another person's translation. Your work ended up containing countless mistakes, both in meaning and in English grammar.. ^^; I don't understand how that may sound smooth to your ears, but really, it became a whole different thing compared to what's actually written in the book. I wouldn't call that "translation" **;

2) i didn't notice that i wrote that. i was watching family guy while typing and wasn't paying attention. i meant to write in something like "his victory is ensured by the fact that his eyes are always looking on towards it." or something in that regard.
3) it's not that your translation isn't good or smooth, i just have a bad habit of paraphrasing things. besides, sometimes i need to shorten it so that it fits within the allotted space.

It's good to start the scanlation of some pages, and my advices for it will be :

1. Credits the translator & raw provider on the pages, not only in your posts.
2. Just copy/paste the translation, do not paraphrase. If you can't, then don't scanlate. And if the text is too long, then choose another font or ask the translator to make a sentence shorter.
3. Don't be distracted when you're typesetting, that's not a good excuse for your own mistakes.

The only thing I don't like is your choice of fonts ;)

The bold ones you used for the catchphrases are fine, ditto for the balloons. But this is a guidebook that is meant to be read, much like a normal book (not manga), thus I personally think that we should use a font that is not comic-style. This is why I don't really like the font you used for the main text (WildWords) and the captions (the lines under the pics) :)
I think you could try and use a "normal" font (like what you would use to write an essay in Word, for example XD), or better, two "normal" fonts, one for the main text and another one for the captions. Comic-style fonts don't distinguish between upper and lower-case, thus they aren't really suited for books that contain long texts (at least IMO).

Anyway, this was my two cents ;) Apart from that, the editing looks fine ^^

I like how you edited :) The only thing I'd change is this: I'd remove the horizontal dotty lines within a same text area. For example, in the "Reunion" part in page 42-43 I'd remove the dotty line between "heart in the least" and "Bonds might". This is because in my opinion that line makes it look like the two texts are separated, though they're actually a single one ("Reunion" indeed). English is not written vertically like Japanese, so those lines aren't really needed (at least IMHO) :)

As for where to post, I'm not very sure :/ I mean, I don't know if that thread was created for eaballer10's scanlations or if it's open to any scanlation.. I guess if you plan to do many of them you could open your own thread and update it from time to time..

Anyway, you shouldn't worry about finding the exact fonts other people used. Just look for similar ones and it should be fine ^^

As requested by some people, I posted a list of all the jutsu featured in Databook 3 with their rank and user. I couldn't include a translation of the names because it's too time-consuming (ya know it's a pain in the a$$ to translate some of them.. lots of play on words, double meanings etc).

Since many people bugged me requested me to do it, I eventually decided to put Gerotora's (the scroll toad Jiraiya had stored inside of him) entry on priority.

I might do Izuna Uchiha tomorrow, just because it's short and it's between Naruto and Itachi (at least I'd "complete" that part, so to speak), then I'll work on Sakura if I have time.

Please be aware that I'll have to move to another city in the next few days, so it's pretty obvious that I won't have much time to work on translations. It's not my fault if the databook is tiring to translate... (plus, remember that English is not my mothertongue)

where can I download the raw of "hyou no sho"(It's naruto databook 2, right?)?
I found that the download link of databook 2 here actually is "sha no sho" or "rin no sho". And I've searched megaupload.com and rapidshare.com, can't find it too(Actually,there IS something like databook2 or something like this, but when I download it, it's either the "sha no sho" or "rin no sho", not the "hyou no sho").
