I won't spend a wall of text explaining this, but I was thinking:

What if Gantz can only read the minds of those who have microchips in their brains?

Anyways, discuss this absurd concept of which I have taken only two sentences to explain.

I think it may very well be possible. Though I think that the micro-chip in their heads just serve for three main purposes:

a) Gantz knowing where and when they are at any given moment.

b) Identifying them as Gantzers so they can be transfered back to the room at the end of the mission.

c) Blowing them up if they misbehave. 'Nuff said. :D

This.

I'm pretty sure it sends all kinds of info back to Gantz.
Like what they are seeing/hearing, how they are reacting, what they feel..
How else would Gantz know how many boners Kurono got in the first mission? :p

The skin tight suits might have something to do with it. xD

Edit:

As for experiencing things like emotions, I don't think that we think in full sentences like portrayed in manga. Our minds don't seem to work in that kind of format.

I agree we don't think in full sentences. I think when we say something it's like squeezing our thoughts through a tiny hole and having something resembling it come out. Then whos ever listening has to put it back together and then clarify and confirm the rough spots.

Gantz gets passed the bottleneck of verbal communication through probably the chip and it's possible the suit monitors some stuff too.

I been wondering doesn't it hurt like hell to have a device like that in your brain and it also acts as a warning, like when you get to close to the boundries or another mission will start soon.

I do. It's not exactly that I think in words, thoughts are abstract, but most of the time there's a monologue going on inside my head, it's like I have to explain myself to myself, very similar to Kurono in gantz.

I'm sure many people do this as well.
