I don't think FET will appreciate hotlinking to their images, though. -_-;;;
Maybe you could re-upload it to a free image hosting service, and edit your post...?

I gave them credit. Now there will be no complaints.

As for the matches, I'll keep a record.

Is it really that big a deal? so long as credit is given..it's not like FET owns PoT

Since you asked me to keep it in here

Rikkai threw that match on purpose, remember the following results?

Renji and Niou 6-1'd
Sanada 6-0'd

Lol i know, i like to joke around and say they had Alcohol and were baked prior to the match and that devil mode is what happens when 13 years old get high/tipsy and pissed at the same time (this comes from a mistranslation in an OVA where Tezuka says they can't get drunk until they win the nationals)

And i'd Like Yuki and Sanada on a team..actually no too devastating

I noticed Rikkai is the only team who can put their order in anyway and win, they are so good at singles that they own in doubles too, i think FET has all the records

Okay, those are my guesses.

1. Oshitari vs. Gakuto Oshitari, due to "wearing glasses makes you badass"
2. Niou vs. Yagyuu Niou. He was on Fuji's level, so I'd say he should win.
3. Oishi vs. Eiji Eiji. Better character, better played, better in everything.
4. Kamio vs. Shinji Shinji, due to the fact I like him better and I'm easily biased.
5. Krauser vs. RichardKrauser, because that name is awesome.
6. Yukimura vs. Sanada (Yukimura:1 Sanada:1)Yukimura. He just didn't get enough matches in the prequel.
7. Shishido vs. Ootori (Shishido:1 Ootori:1)Ootori. Scud serve and stuff.
8. Yuuta vs. Fuji I'm going to go with Yuuta, for the sole purpose that I feel bad for him and I feel no one else is going to vote for him. Also, if I vote for him and he turns out to win, I'll be able to brag a lot.
9. Kai vs. Kite Kai.
10. Atobe vs. Hiyoshi Atobe. Oh God Atobe is going to win with the power of LargeHam.
11. Tezuka vs. Kaidoh Tezuka. Easily. He kills goddamn dinosaurs. A snake is no big deal.
12. Shiraishi vs. ? I assume ? means The Question, from DC comics. So I'm going with ?.
13. Jackal vs. Bunta Bunta. Because...Just becasue.
14. Koharu vs. ? The question wins.
15. Echizen vs. ? ...Okay, Echizen wins.
16. Inui vs. Mizuki Mizuki. He only had one match before so, it should be a fun match to watch now.
17. Akutsu vs. Taka Akutsu. Because he is in the camp. And he didn't get many matches before.
18. Kirihara vs. Renji Kirihara. Because his devil mode was underdeveloped.
19. Kin-chan vs. Chitose Kintarou. Because he is Kintarou.
20. Tachibana vs. Kadowaki Tachibana, because I don't have a clue who Kadowaki is.
21. Kabaji vs. Jirou Kabaji, though I want Jirou to win.
22. Chinen vs. Kei Kei.
23. David vs. Bane David
24. Rin vs. ? I'm going with The Question again.
25. Sengoku vs. Sengoku will be lucky, and The Question won't show up due to being busy with a conspiracy. I'm voting on Sengoku.

1. Oshitari vs. Gakuto - Oshitari
2. Niou vs. Yagyuu - Niou
3. Oishi vs. Eiji - Eiji
4. Kamio vs. Shinji - A really tough one...eh flip a coin....Shinji
5. Krauser vs. Richard - Krauser
6. Yukimura vs. Sanada - Yukimura is who I want to win, if I had to bet money, I'd slightly favor Sanada. Just because Yukimura was screwed out of anything meaningful in POT1, so might as well do it again.
7. Shishido vs. Ootori -Ootori
8. Yuuta vs. Fuji - Shuusuke
9. Kai vs. Kite - Kite
10. Atobe vs. Hiyoshi - Atobe
11. Tezuka vs. Kaidoh - Tezuka
12. Shiraishi vs. ? - Shiraishi
13. Jackal vs. Bunta - Bunta only because he's cooler and has a bigger fan base.
14. Koharu vs. ?
15. Echizen vs. ? - Echizen
16. Inui vs. Mizuki - Inui
17. Akutsu vs. Taka - Akutsu
18. Kirihara vs. Renji - I'd guess Renji, but it's close. Either Kirihara would wipe him out, or Renji's crazy brain would manipulate and control Kirihara.
19. Kin-chan vs. Chitose - Kin-chan
20. Tachibana vs. Kadowaki - Kadowa-*wild lion attack* ouch....Tachibana
21. Kabaji vs. Jirou - I LOVE Jirou, but I'd have to say Kabaji
22. Chinen vs. Kei - I couldn't care less.
23. David vs. Bane - Davide
24. Rin vs. ?
25. Sengoku vs. I hope Sengoku

Here are my guesses on matches and scores for some of them

1. Oshitari vs. Mukahi: Oshitari 6-2 (he has the skills to bagel him, but Mukahi knows him well enough to steal a couple of games)
2. Niou vs. Yagyuu: Niou 6-4
3. Oishi vs. Eiji: Kikumaru 6-4
4. Kamio vs. Shinji: Shinji in a tiebreak
5. Krauser vs. Richard: Krauser 6-0
6. Yukimura vs. Sanada: Sanada in a tiebreak
7. Shishido vs. Ootori: Shishido 7-5
8. Yuuta vs. Fuji: Fuji 6-1 (Yuuta's training to beat him should help a little bit, plus Fuji might go easy at first)
9. Kai vs. Kite: Kite 6-0
10. Atobe vs. Hiyoshi: Atobe 6-0
11. Tezuka vs. Kaidou: Tezuka 6-2
12. Shiraishi vs. ?: Shiraishi

Kabaji over Jirou 6-1? What are your thoughts behind that one?

lasenorita
May 01, 2009, 08:51 PM
Is it really that big a deal?
It could be. Every time an image is shown on this page, it has to be retrieved from FET's servers. That could put some strain on their bandwidth (which they're paying for). It's commonly known as hotlinking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotlinking).

I'm not criticising the format or organization of this thread; it's good. I just wanted to warn Fayte in case an FET admin gets angry and replaces everyone's picture with Horio vs Karupin or something. ;o)

Oshitari All the fangirls love him. Gakuto strikes me as a bit childish; Oshitari is calmer.
Niou The fangirls love him even more. I think he has great mental fortitude.
Eiji Oishi has a soft spot for his partner and it'll probably be a fun match. Or it could be filled with angst.
Kamio Through sheer force of will. And he just might have had enough of Shinji mumbling about how wonderfully sad life is and telling us what he really feels.
Krauser He seems to possess a lot of confidence.
Sanada Yukimura Sanada Yukimura I'm not sure how strong Yukimura is feeling right now. Hmm... maybe he'll crush Sanada, and we'll be shown what a monster he is how that match with Echizen was an unfortunate consequence of his long absence. ;)
Ootori He's kind-hearted like Oishi, but he also respects his senpai enough to play his best.
Fuji He won't hold back on his little brother. Tough love and all that. ^^
Kite
Atobe 'Ore-sama' is not going to let anyone usurp his throne.
Tezuka Battle of the buchous! But he's too strong for Kaidoh.
Shiraishi He won't want to disappoint as Shitenhouji's captain. But I wonder if he'll stick to his 'boring' play-style now that he's playing for himself.
Marui? Self-assured tensai wins no doubt. Then, again, Jackal knows his playbook.
Koharu
Echizen The story is still mada mada desu so naturally Echizen wins. Unless he's playing against the Momo who was just defeated and will now go on to prove that he wants to stay. Nah. Too late/early.
Mizuki Simply because I like purple, too. Yes, I'm shallow. XD Mizuki seems to have a better grasp of other people's weaknesses, but Inui is most likely to win, though.
Akutsu Taka-san won't get much mercy from him. And he probably won't get much mercy from burning!Taka-san either.
Kirihara He won't let Renji control him so easily (or is that part of Renji's plan...?)
Kintarou Kintarou will probably get carried away and try to kill Chitose with his super-duper-double-chocolate-fudge-devil's-food-rich-cake-deluxe serve. If Chitose can somehow evade that and control the match, maybe he'll win. *shrug*
Tachibana Depends on how aggressive he is.
Jirou I wonder if Kabaji's annoying style of play will get to him?
Tanishi
David Revenge of the joker.
? Fourth ?'s the charm.
Sengoku He's lucky so he probably unwittingly paired up with Ginka's captain.

The more I look at these match-ups, the more I hope it really is just a mind game. *fingers crossed* The results of the match will separate them all into the different court blocks and/or be reported to the coach to help determine their weaknesses and strengths. Or if this really is the boot for some of the players, Yukimura vs. Sanada had better be good. Horio not being invited was bad enough. >_<

Kabaji over Jirou 6-1? What are your thoughts behind that one?

Kabaji could copy everything and throw it back at him, plus he is a lot stronger. Given how easily Jirou got raped by Fuji, I can't see him putting up a fight against Kabaji. Kabaji also has much better stamina.

This...

and on top of that he can copy moves but you saw he needs experience

Mr. Inoe compared Jirou to John McEnroe known for his excellent touch (which is natural) at net i don't think Kabaji could copy someones naturally soft hands (needed for finesse volleys and drop volleys)

And if my theory about the first chapter is correct then Jirou is the winner

If he could copy Tezuka Zone in a couple of minutes, I really don't think that Jirou's techniques will pose him that much of an issue. Especially since he's seen Jirou play a number of times before.

I just doubt Jirou has the high level of stamina and skill needed to keep up with Kabaji. He might be able to take a couple of games from him, but it's doubtful that he could last that long against him.

Dansan1
May 01, 2009, 11:30 PM
If Atobe's theory is right, that'd be nice, as originally Jirou was my favorite character, until he basically disappeared. I love his personality and his tennis is the closest to the real life tennis style I like watching best.

I just don't have the feeling that he'd be able to manage that kind of soft gentle touch against Kabaji's raw strength (for some reason I picture Lendl v McEnroe), but then again, that is real world thinking and this is manga.

So I say go Jirou!!

True but Tezuka zone is putting ridiculous amount of spin

having touch is different, can't copy touch. It's like Atobe's/Momo's insight, Fuji's ability to read the wind or Ryoma being ambidextrous you can't (in theory) copy that

We don't know what Jirou can do because he was godstomped by a semi serious Fuji (he wanted to avenge Yuuta) there's a reason he was in singles 2 and was regarded as one of their best players

22. Chinen vs. Tanishi
23. David vs. Kurobane
24. Rin vs. ?
25. Sengoku vs ?

When it comes Yuuta vs. Fuji, i kinda felt Yuuta would win at first...since maybe Fuji would go easy on his little brother...come to think of it, Yuuta would definitely not enjoy winning if his brother held back...So, my bet is that Fuji will win.:amuse

As for Kabaji vs. Jirou, I felt that Jirou should win, his techniques requires flexible wrists...I'm guessing that Jirou would win the first 1 or 2 games then Kabaji would catch up with him. Then again, I think that Kabaji's wrists are not that flexible enough and if he ever damage his wrists before the match ends, Jirou can definitely win...

Umm...this is going to be Off-topic but concerning the OVA that is coming out on 26th May, there are some info on this on their official website...
http://www.tenipuri.jp/dvd04/01.html

I'm not too sure about this but for the first OVA ep, it's about Seigaku's trip to Osaka...Shitenhouji and Higa Chuu are also in this ep...if i'm not wrong, there are also mixed doubles matches between Seigaku and Shitenhouji...Something about Fuji, Shiraishi, Taka-san Ishida,Tezuka and Kin-chan...:blink (I don't really understand this bit in their official website...)
There are also some screenshots...and looks like Ryoga is also appearing in this ep too..

I see FET pulled the images. It' not surprising — 400+ page views (not to mention refreshes) will strain anyone's bandwidth. It's kinda sad because we can't visit their biography page (http://fet.fudomine.org/index.php?a_h) to match names to faces anymore. Perhaps you could edit your post and remove the links to the images, Fayte? ;_;

I see Mizuki having a very good shot.

The fact is that Fuji was just a terrible match up for him, being someone who is impossible to get data on. Inui shouldn't give him as much of an issue. I see it being a close match, but Mizuki's data is a little more reliable than Inui's.

Fayte
May 06, 2009, 12:26 PM
I agree. I think Mizuki could take him. He has the skill and the brain. Like Hinata Fan said, Fuji was a bad match up.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 12:50 PM
I assumed no one liked or gave Mizuki a second thought. I guess he's got a chance.

We know he's got a brain, we don't know much of anything of his technical skill.

For instance Inui beat Renjii and I don't think Mizuki would even come close to anything resembling having a chance at beating Renjii(from a purely physical and technical standpoint). But that's just me. I'd love to see the match.

Interesting that they chose each other to a partner when they thought it was doubles.

Neru

Interesting that they chose each other to a partner when they thought it was doubles.

Actually, I thought about this too. Why would they choose someone from a different team? I think, at least, that they both came to the same conclusion quickly. Which was that the pairings was not for doubles, but for singles.

Everyone seem quick to pick someone they're comfortable with. Then things goes from comfortable to uncomfortable when you're forced to eliminate your friend in order to proceed. Thus, the whole mental issue.

Of course, they avoided this by choosing someone they don't care about. And since they both thought the same, they found each other. ;)

Well, this makes no sense since they're both data players who rely on statistic. They should pick someone they know everything about, like someone from their team.

Makes me wondering why Tezuka is paired up with Kaidou, or Atobe with Hiyoshi. Someone they both could easily flush, and we've actually never seen them converse or been especially friendly with each other. Maybe they realized too? If thats the case, then thats very cold of them ( I can imagine Atobe not caring, but Tezuka? lol. )

Please understand that the fact Inui beat Renji tells us nothing about Inui being better against another player.

Inui was the only person on Seigaku capable of beating Renji. Fuji would have lost, Tezuka wasn't there, Echizen was needed to play Sanada, and nobody else is good enough. Inui HAD TO win for Seigaku to win. (Which in my opinion, Rikkai should have lost the Kantou finals)

Inui beat Renji simply because he knew him through and through on a personal level. Nobody else has that. Therefore you can't say "So and so can beat Renji, because Inui did." It doesn't work that way.

Actually, I thought about this too. Why would they choose someone from a different team?

Akutsu picked Taka, because Taka is his best friend. That leaves Sengoku to pick someone from another team.

Fuji picked Yuuta, because it's his brother. That leaves Tezuka to pick someone else.

Renji picked Kirihara, that left Inui to pick someone else. (Although that would be an awesome pair)

etc.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 07:23 PM
No I get that.

I'm not saying that you can judge Inui's match up against someone else by his matchup against Renjii. I was only saying that in the Renjii match he demonstrated things that gave us info about him.

The Rikkai guys are all ridiculously strong physically and mentally, and Renjii is one of the three. So the fact that Inui could keep up with him just demonstrates some of the "stuff" that Inui's made up of.

I just never got the impression that Mizuki was on that level either with technique or physical capabilities.

KuwabaraTheMan
May 06, 2009, 07:42 PM
Well, even though Fuji wasn't going serious, he won 5 games against a Fuji that most everyone did think was serious. Essentially, he was beating Fuji at the level that he was praised as being a genius for, Fuji just happened to have a lot more hidden away.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 07:46 PM
I always got the opposite feeling from that match (that it made Mizuki look even worse than his build up...)

I didn't get the impression that Mizuki was actually really outplaying even that Fuji.

I got the impression that Fuji was specifically letting Mizuki win games to give an extra special treatment for Yuuta.

The Fuji that crushed Mizuki (without him getting a single point once Fuji didn't want him to) was still that casual Fuji that had not yet released his craziness.

At least that's what I thought about the match.

He seemed to get a lot more serious to me.

Yeah, he wasn't going all out. That was obvious. But if he had been giving up that badly, Mizuki (and others) would have realized something.

Mizuki had gathered data on Fuji based on his previous matches. However, Fuji had been disguising all his true abilities.

I don't think Mizuki could beat Fuji, but I do think he showed that he had a good amount of skill. Fuji had to actually get serious in that match (even though he never got truly serious until the Kirihara match, this was the first time he got a little serious).

Fayte
May 06, 2009, 07:56 PM
And even against Kirihara, Fuji said he would have lost, had his sight not been gone.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 08:00 PM
Yep, losing the sight specifically awakened new areas for Fuji's tennis.

He didn't only get serious in the Kirihara match, he got better. That was his first growth as a tennis player.

Okay new match up....someone else pick I already mentioned the only one that I was curious about (about the vote results so far that is, I'm interested in seeing many of the matches.)

That was when we saw how good Kirihara really is, in my point of view.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 08:08 PM
Okay then,

How about Renjii V Kirihara? Demon v demon.

Fayte
May 06, 2009, 08:16 PM
I don't think Kirihara is at Renji's level yet, but who knows. Maybe when they play again in their match-up, Kirihara will once again evolve and beat him. It is also needed for the evolution of Kirihara. Renji is step 1. However, as he is now, even with his devil mode, he cannot win.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 08:19 PM
I got that impression too. Even though we've seen way more of Kirihara and Renjii got just about nothing in the manga (loss to Inui and a couple of wins in doubles) I always felt like Renjii was still more beastly than Kirihara with his crazy mind powers.

KuwabaraTheMan
May 06, 2009, 08:22 PM
I feel like Kirihara is at his level. Devil Mode might also be the point where having data isn't particularly useful if you can't do anything with it.

I feel like Kirihara will win that match.

Fayte
May 06, 2009, 08:23 PM
That is precisely why people overlook Renji. He has no screentime compared to Kirihara. However, that doesn't mean his skill has decreased, as seen in the doubles match against Inui and Kaidoh. That Cicada shot was awesome.

Yeah, Yanagi is quite skilled, and he does get overlooked some. It should be a close match between the two of them, but Kirihara's continued evolution will take him to the top.

Dansan1
May 06, 2009, 08:37 PM
Ultimately that is what will win out. If Kirihara is more popular (and he is...) and we really are losing one of the two, then Renjii's out.

Atobe the king
May 06, 2009, 09:15 PM
Renji has all of Akaya's data....but Akaya was the first opponent to test Fuji, i don't picture Renji besting Fuji for the same reason Inui can't....you can't gauge what you can't comprehend

Utsusemi is pretty much a Zero Shiki whcih rolls forward...Renji is a slice master, seems to be really good at that shot

Actually, this move looks like a topspin(reverse slice?). He drops the racquet low in a slice angle, then raises up and back - slightly with his wrist, to put a topspin on the ball. When the ball lands, it just rolls.

For a slice, racket head goes ups, comes slicing down and the finish should have the racket head below the waist, Konomi looked like he was drawing it at the right when the racket head dipped, but given the court position Renji was in...i'd say it's actually a volley

I must be missing something...Yuuta, Richard, and Kadowaki were introduced in the latest chapter. I thought that was 47. Unless Chinen was overlooked before?

And in most of the matches are predictable. In cases like Renji and Kirihara, just assume that the one with more room to grow will succeed. Renji's power may be superior to Kirihara;s but that is exactly why it would be boring for him to win.

Ones like Jiro and Kabaji are harder to pin down, but I think Jiro's got it.

Fayte

Jiro's got it in the bag. Kabaji is boring anyway.

Edit: I am updating the front page as the manga gets updated.

1. Oshitari vs. Gakuto: Oshitari (No brainer here).
2. Niou vs. Yagyuu: Niou (Obviously I'm late and he lost but still I would've voted for him. How can he lose when he could mimic Tezuka's Phantom Zone?)
3. Oishi vs. Eiji: Eiji (No brainer here. Oishi is horrible in singles).
4. Kamio vs. Shinji: Kamio (I want Shinji to win, but Kamio will, im sure, because one thing is who I want to win, and another is who will will :(, Kamio has more of an impact in the series).
5. Krauser vs. Richard: Krauser.
6. Yukimura vs. Sanada: Sanada. (dunno how, but still lol).
7. Shishido vs. Ootori: Shishido. (He's already trained in seeing Ootori's Scud Serve, which is the only thing Ootori has going for him).
8. Yuuta vs. Shyuusuke: Shyuusuke obviously.
9. Kai vs. Kite: Kite.
10. Atobe vs. Hiyoshi: Atobe.
11. Tezuka vs. Kaidoh: Tezuka.
12. Shiraishi vs. Kenya?: Shiraishi.
13. Jackal vs. Bunta?: Jackal.
14. Koharu vs. Gin?: Gin. (Obvious when you think about it, seeing as Takashi and Momoshiro are leaving, he'll be the power player of the group).
15. Echizen vs. Momo?: Echizen. Duh.
16. Inui vs. Mizuki: Inui. (Inui's data tennis beat even Renji's data tennis. If Mizuki beats him, Imma be pissed... Not to mention I doubt Mizuki can even hold his ground against Waterfall Serve).
17. Akutsu vs. Taka: Akutsu.
18. Kirihara vs. Renji: Kirihara. (Same as with Kamio vs Shinji, Renji should win because Kirihara has never been able to beat him before, but Kirihara has more of a spotlight in the series soooooo...).
19. Kintarou vs. Chitose: Kintarou. (Although it would be awesome to see Tezuka & Chitose as a pair in doubles, with double Pinnacle of Wisdom... Would be awesome indeed).
20. Tachibana vs. Kadowaki: Tachibana.
21. Kabaji vs. Jirou: Kabaji. (Jirou should win, but they wouldnt leave Atobe without his Kabaji around, cmon).

After Oshitari, Nioh and Eiji wins:
4. I think Ibus is better, and if Konomi is deleting clones (Kaidoh out, Gakutoh out, etc), Kamio is going to lost (I suppose Kenya will win)
5.Krauser seems much better ,no?
6. Yukimira is better, but Sanada is much more popular, so Yukimira will have a new disease or something like that
7. A new Eiji-Oishi: Shishido should win but he will lose. At least, Choutaroh it's a good player, and it´s necessary a server.
8.Syuusuke'' win, but we''ll see the mercy that he has with his oni-san
9.Kite should won easy
10.Atobe will won, obviously, but I expect a bit of emotion
11.Tezuka is better, but I think Kaidoh will stand up a bit (7-4?) I expect something similar to Inui-Tezuka. And one thing, who is the actually buchou, Tezuka or Kaidoh?
12.¿¿?? Against any "freshman", except Atobe, Ryoma, Fuji, Sanada, Yukimira or Tezuka, Shiraishi'll win.
13. Bunta is gonna win.Jackal has popularity = 0
14. I hope Kenya (if he `plays vs him) will crush this bastard
15. Ryoma of course. Momo hasn´t won a singles match since Sengoku...
16.Inui should won, but cover doesn´t lie...
17.GREAT-VERY GREAT MATCH. .Akutsu is better, but Kawamura it's a good guy, Seigaku, and gives humour.
18. Kirihara seems better with Devil mode, but Yanagi is the one who knows Akaya the most ("beast tamer", not?). It should be close but Kirihara is more popular, appears in the cover and with Kaidoh out, his Devil mode is the only one
19.Kintaroh is gonna win, although I don't know how (maybe Konomi says he's so wild that is unpredictable or sth like that o algo. Since we have seen Tezuka, Ryoma and even Nioh (copying) with Saiki, Chitose isn´t neccessary. And Kintaro's wild style is a very good idea for PoT
20.Tachibana needs a win, and he will get it now.
21. Kabaji is realy good, but Jirou will win. His tennis isn´t based in a hit,it's based in a style,"serve and volley" very difficult to copy. Jirou can give new ideas an dstyles to PoT (I'm sure he has improved a lot),and I really missed him in Nationals. Kabaji, althoug can even be paired with Tezuka in that match,it's a very unpopular character, and for copying we have Nio, Muga's...
22.Tanishi, of course. I don´t why is rival is here
23. Who knows. Very good match, in any case
24??
25. I hope an Aoi-Sengok, it would be great

Summary: I see very clear the victories (because they are better, or if they are tied, popularity) Krauser,Sanada,Choutaro, Fuji,Kite, Atobe,Tezuka, Shiraishi,Ryoma, Kirihara,Kintaroh,Tachibana and Tanishi.
I doubt with Ibu-Kamio,Inui-Mizuki(for the cover), Akutsu-Kawamura,Jirou-Kabaji, Amane-Kurobane and the last two.

And in most of the matches are predictable. In cases like Renji and Kirihara, just assume that the one with more room to grow will succeed. Renji's power may be superior to Kirihara;s but that is exactly why it would be boring for him to win.

So is Kaidoh going to win because Tezuka's all grown up? :blink I guess that means bye to Echizen, too! :o

Pardon my lateness ;)

1. Oshitari vs. Gakuto
2. Niou vs. Yagyuu
3. Oishi vs. Eiji
4. Kamio vs. Shinji
5. Krauser vs. Richard
6. Yukimura vs. Sanada. I’m most excited for this match and a little torn over who might win, although because it exists at all I’m assuming it’s an opportunity to show Sanada victorious.
7. Shishido vs. Ootori. Although it may be really close.
8. Yuuta vs. Fuji. Although it’s an obvious victory, I think Yuuta will be able to surprise his brother somehow during the match.
9. Kai vs. Kite
10. Atobe vs. Hiyoshi. (This isn’t a fitting ‘gekokujyou’ match.)
11. Tezuka vs. Kaidoh.
12. Shiraishi vs. ?. His unknown partner (possibly Kenya?) would have to be really remarkable to beat him.
13. Jackal vs. Bunta. Jackal, but by a thin margin.
14. Koharu vs. Gin?.
15. Echizen vs. ?(Momo). This is probably the most obvious win even with a variable.
16. Inui vs. Mizuki. Not so sure on this one. I think Mizuki has a chance.
17. Akutsu vs. Taka. I feel Akutsu is the better player, but for the sake of the storyline and to show Taka’s progression (especially in these rival-friend matches) he might win.
18. Kirihara vs. Renji. Kirihara is strong, but Renji knows how to deal with him.
19. Kintarou vs. Chitose. There’s just something about the people who have played Ryoma that makes me lean towards them.
20. Tachibana vs. Kadowaki.
21. Kabaji vs. Jirou. I think Jirou would do well, but Kabaji would come out ahead.
22. Chinen vs. Tanishi.
23. David vs. Bane. David is the best player on Rokkaku after Aoi and Saeki.
24. Rin vs. ?
25. Sengoku vs. ?

Playing against Echizen could force Momoshiro to take his game up to the next level, even if he does lose.

Well, in a few days we'll have a new chapter with 3 matches: Ibu-Kamio,Krauser-Sakata,and of course, the greatest match till Ryoma VS Yukimira year and a half ago, Sanada-Yukimira.
Do you think we'll see new shots and abilities, or just the winners will win with his old style (in the 3 first matches we didn´t see anything new)?

I'd bet for a new ability for Ibu (Spot for legs?) and one new shot for Sanada (Serving Rai?). Of Krauser VS Sakata I think we'll just see Afro's crucifixion (he can´t crucify any old and good guy of Prince of Tennis because the fans will be angry, but Sakata has no fans XD)

Final predictions since the chapter is about to happen:

Yukimura loses due to deus ex machina. Maybe illness or new broken technique.

Krauser wins, and gets a letter from the pope claiming that he is the antichrist due to his crucifixion techniques.

Shinji wins, with a new spot. The new spot involves more spin. An he has an anti ambidextrous move.

In those two chapters, Shinji will ramble 6 times.

Yukimura and Sanada will get a flashback. They won't speak much during the match, but will have lots of "LOL I CAN READ YOUR MIND" moments.

Krauser's match will last only a few panels. Mr.Afro is going to have his afro destroyed.

Krauser's random english remarks will make one member of mangahelpers a fan of his.

THOSE ARE MY PREDICTIONS.

Fayte
June 28, 2009, 10:38 PM
Yukimura is not going to get ill again. Burn that into your eyes.

-Krauser's match will be 1 page long, showing a bloody afro. Konomi gets sued for racism
-Shinji wins after 10-15 pages
-Sanada and Yukimura start playing. Sanada does FuuRinKaZan and Yukimura returns them. Sanada begins to do Rai, and begins to get a point on Yukimura. Yukimura overcomes Sanada's rai, and begins to counterattack. When drove into a corner, Sanada unleashes a new, never-before-seen technique that catches Yukimura by surprise.

Nah, until now we didnt see any real new techniques.

-So no new techniques but old ones improved (Spot for legs to make Kamio stop in his Rythm etc.)
-Both chapters togehter will have 39 Pages
-1 goes to Krauser, 5 to Shinji and the rest to Yuki
-Yuki gives up somehow although he could have won
-Sanada gets really upset about it
-Some guy will say that he knew everything that happend

Fayte

Nah, until now we didnt see any real new techniques.

What is this supposed to mean? There is a new technique shown during every big match. Some characters like Sanada and Fuji show more than 1 new technique.

Fuji showed 1 new counter against Rin (4th counter) 4 new techniques during his match with Shiraishi. (Upgraded counters and Gatekeeper) And 1 new technique during his match with Niou (Hoshi Hanabi)

Sanada showed 3 never seen techniques against Echizen (Ka, Fuu, and SoSA) and 4 never seen techniques during his match with Tezuka. (Rin, Lightning, Shadow, KaRinRai)

So you're saying the chances of them creating new techniques is slim? Especially when one of them are leaving the camp?

No, Im just refering to PoT2 chapters. Of course you are right about PoT1 but in PoT2 we did not see any real new move. We did se however a curved Laser Beam, or a new Jack Knife (the black one). And we cannot be sure about a "big" match... I believe the tie break will end within that 2 chapters, so it will be like 2 normal chapters long (ca 34 pages).

Because Kite it's an awesome player (he was defeating Kanto's Tezuka very easily till Hyakuren appears) and Kai lost to Singles Kikumaru.
I think, that, most of the times, we underpower the whole Higa Team beacuse Seigaku defeat them 5/0, but I think that players like Tanishi (I'd like Tanishi VS Choutaro), Rin or Kite are very interesting

The dirt throwing was part of his style.

It's like Kirihara and his violence.

I would say that Tezuka COULD defeat Kite even without him going super saiyan, but then it would be a much much closer match.

Kite is definitely on Kantou Tezuka's level.

Atobe the king
July 16, 2009, 06:35 PM
Im not denying that, Kite is actually awesome it's just he was used as fodder to show off Tezuka's skill.

The reason i say screwing around is because Konomi usually uses sweat as an indicative of effort (unless Muga is involved)

http://www.onemanga.com/Prince_of_Tennis/270/15/

Albeit a little, Kite was sweating..and Tezuka despite being down 4-0 wasn't sweating at all. That said Kite wasn't going all out either because he saved the big bang for when he saw Muga.

Sherlock Holmes
July 16, 2009, 07:03 PM
Oh my mistake then. Yeah, Tezuka wasn't going all "I CAN'T LOSE" against him yet. He hadn't even begun to spam Tezuka zone.

Though Tezuka would never lose games in order to gauge someone(that's more like Niou/Momo stuff) it's like he had no choice but to lose some games because of Kite's level.

So yeah, he wasn't trying that hard, but still trying. And Kite was definitely above his Kantou level. (Ninja move counters zero shiki)

Also, on a side note about Kite...Doesn't he look like tezuka with a weird haircut on this page?

July 16, 2009, 09:37 PM
You can't judge a character in a fictional comic book by their sweat detail. In real life, probably. In a fictional manga series that defies all logic? I would say definitely no. One would argue that Sanada wasn't trying against Echizen, because he wasn't sweating. However, we know he was, because he used more than one of his techniques on one person. I would never judge someone in PoT by how sweaty they are. (Unless it is an absurd amount of sweat, in which case would indicate great frustration and effort)

Sanada was indeed schooling Echizen he was serious but half the work was done for him due to Ryoma's overzealous use of MnK he got to 5-1 pretty much effortlessly..it was on the way to 7-5 when he had to start putting in effort.

The fact that it's being drawn and the artist is aware that one character is drawn to be exerting himself more than another then i'd say it possesses some relevance. Same thing happened against Chitose who's sweating while tezuka shows no signs of fatigue whatsoever.

Now here ( http://www.onemanga.com/Prince_of_Tennis/351/01/) when he plays an opponent that requires nothing short of his absolute best he's sweating bullets..which is something that never happens to Tezuka...just to show what a deadly opponent Sanada and Tezuka were because so was he.

It's the opposite. In real life you can't tell by sweat because everyone has different sweat glands and degrees to which they sweat naturally. Some extremely different. I know a guy that sweats like we're running a marathon when we go bowling. But in the comic world it is a pretty clear indicator of exertion. This is not limited to POT.

All that aside, I got the impression that Tezuka purposely let him have a 4-0 lead to humiliate him for using the racket as a weapon (same way Fuji did to Mizuki for Yuuta), go reread the chapters and I think you'll see where I'm coming from.

Apparently Kite owns every other Higa player effortlessly, and we all know that they actually made life hard for Seigaku. I'd say he's up there on the best players without any super-saiyan skill.
