Hey all,

I was hoping I could get someone to check over a few specific lines and terms for me. After going over this chapter trying to learn the terms and usages that were new to me for about a week, I feel very confident about my accuracy, but there are still some things I was hoping I could get a little clarification on.

Here's my script (the main issue area is highlighted in red):

And raws of course are available on this site.

Alright, here are my specifics:

-That first 心配しなくても... Who is worrying? About what? These are the questions I still can't find answers to. I decided to go with Taisei worrying about his own safety with regards to the ledger being turned in, but I don't know. It seemed like a logical conclusion at the time, but is it really? I had to include some information that wasn't mentioned in this passage in order to clear this up in English.

-焦る is used a couple times throughout the chapter. According to my dictionary it means "to be hurried/to be impatient" but the usage here doesn't seem to quite correspond to that meaning. Does it have some additional meaning? Alc seems to give a usage meaning "frustrated", but I dunno.

-In 長年親父に面倒見てもらってたのに死んだとたんこれじゃ... I guess the もらってた there includes the "traitors" in Taisei's in-group? I'm guessing he's being mockingly kind or something.

-不確定要素の塊みたい apparently means something along the lines of "he's like a ball of uncertain factors"... I'm guessing that means it's the speaker who is uncertain, right? Not the person they're talking about.

Well, I guess that's the big stuff. If anyone can help with these problems or can comment on any aspect of my translation script, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot. :)

Well, I'm just looking at the highlighted parts, but I don't think you need to think that hard for 心配しなくても. Just put "Don't worry" at the start of the line. He's telling the other person not to worry because he's going to inheret and take care of everything having to do with Aranami Construction Co.

マジ焦るんだけど is kind of like Japanese teen girl slang. One possible translation would be "Gosh you're really making me nervous!" You might want to look up "frustrated" and "impatient" in the thesaurus and see what words you could use that would fit nicely.

He's not really being mockingly kind here. He's just lamenting how the others (traitors?) turned their back on his father even though his father had taken care of them for so long.

不確定要素の塊 is an idiomatic phrase that doesn't have to be literally translated. I think the way you have it in the translation is fine. Literally, they're saying Tatara's father is like an "amalgamation of uncertainty." 塊 means "ball" or "lump," but in this case, it's not like there's a physical lump lying around, so it takes on a more metaphorical connotation, like "combination."

I think I already approved your translation, but if there's any other specific spots you have questions about, just post them here again. :)

Thanks for the help. Yes, you did approve it. I think in the end the lines I had written for these problem areas were fine.

I wasn't too concerned about translating 不確定要素の塊 literally. I just wasn't 100% certain on its meaning, specifically whether it was indeed Mikoto who didn't know about Tatara, or if it was Tatara who didn't know anything. I think they're referring to Tatara as "oyaji" though, not talking about his father, since his father is pretty much completely irrelevant.

Anyway, thanks again.
