Blai as creator of the win thread I beg you to stop aki's crazy idea of prolonging the win thread :worship2

1500 is just the perfect number. Don't let anyone ruin that.

Googlez_kun
November 08, 2010, 05:44 PM
What the-?

2500 is the best number. It's long enough for everyone to at least get a chance to participate, the new threads will be created autmotically and nowadays those threads are only there to spam(*cough*BBBB*cough*),because of the low amount of posts necessary. It used to be fun,but now everyone(the spammers) wants those quick 1500 posts to be over in an instant. So i think that would not happen with 2500 posts.

Support Aki's idea of making the thread longer:shakefist

I really don't want to get involved with that since because of past events I have renounced everything I was involved with that had something to do with the Fun Forum.

Sorry I can't be of any help to any of you. I will say though that I think it's a shame that Akiyama first removed the rules and the way you played the game (the "I Win Because" concept), continues to change name on existing threads and now also wants to make it 2'500 which means auto-new thread. It looses it's personality that way.

The point of the game isn't to spam. It's to chat casually and when someone hits 1'500, that person wins and another thread is being made. The reason for making a new thread manually is because it becomes more personal that way and every thread gets unique in it's own way. Which were perfect for the little group of FF'ers we were back when it was first created.

But I don't want to get involved with anything 'over there' anymore anyway. If you guys have changed so much already, why not change that too? I'm indifferent.

Got AC:B yesterday, I'm already loving it. The gameplay is far superior to AC2, and the graphics are greatly improved too. The details are a lot better, and the world design is much more creative and user friendly. I was afraid I'd get bored by the whole game taking place within a single humongous city as I got utterly bored by Venice in AC2. But Rome has such extraordinary design and variety that it feels like running from town to town etc. The dungeons are also vastly superior to AC2's.

Have you played yet? I haven't checked if you've earned achievements in AC:B yet.

I also want AC: Brotherhood :crying

My ps3 is broke :crying. So I got to wait for the PC release.

3c
February 03, 2011, 02:53 PM
O.C. is a typical teenage series featuring rich boys living off their parent's money, huge California villas, relationships, hot girls and dramadramadramadramadrama. The only slightly manly part of the series is one of the main characters who has a history of street life and violence, and occasionally punches people when he gets pissed off.

It's really meh, but I used to love it when I was 15-16, and still hold some good feelings for the main cast, even though the story is cheesy and bleh when compared to awesome series. Sorry Adam.

Aaaaand I haven't seen season five of Dexter yet but I've heard it's quite something. :)

Season 5 was in my opinion the 4th best season. There was a lot of greatly written character development, but the first episodes were meh, and overall the season didn't leave me with the same "damn, that season was awesome!!" like season 1, 2 and 4 did. The last episodes really did the season justice though so it was still a good one. Look forward to it.

What would be a good show to watch? I am only watching shameless at the moment. And Blai-san, if you ever get to participate in the Amazing Race (if you don't know google it). Which manga/anime character would you pick as your partner? If you ever get eliminate in a country, which country would it be (can be in the anime/manga universe)? And what would be the greatest strength and weakness of the relationship between you and your partner?

blai
February 13, 2011, 07:22 AM
If season five was the fourth best season then I'm not so sure I would like to go through it just to see a good ending nuno, "/

However, started with Community and it's one of the best shows airing so far. It's incredible, loving every second of it.

@weix, I'd recommend The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Community, Modern Family, 2 ½ men, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Bored to Death and How To Make It In America. Enough recommendations? :p

I would probably pick Shou Akumetsu from the manga series Akumetsu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akumetsu#Plot) because since he has like, tons of clones, all whom are specialized in one subject I think he'd be a superb asset and he'll probably know exactly what to do at all times :p
The country I think we might get eliminated in would be somewhere in the Northern part of Africa. Maybe Tunis, Egypt, Morocco, Algeris, Libya.
The greatest strength of the relationship with Shou would be... oh this is a hard one... that we're both (originally) pretty easygoing but reckless and we seem to have the same view on society (note - originally. Not later in the series :p)
The greatest weakness would probably be that he'd run off trying to assassinate corrupt leaders in the countries we'd visit ;|

Yo Blai are you seriously planing on volunteering? I think that if you are serious about it you should do it.

I plan to do that at some point in my life maybe after finishing college.

blai
February 13, 2011, 07:49 AM
Yeah, I'm seriously considering it. I'm going to take next year off and found this brochure about a volunteering program for young people in the southern part of Africa and with my education and personal records (CV) I am eligible to apply for tutoring/teaching and daycare, as well as (some) animal care-taking. And since the program is sponsored by some big cooperations it's for free.

It's a program between two to twelve months and I was thinking of applying for six months after summer. I've always wanted to be a volunteer worker and when I was little I wanted to work with Doctors without borders and later with Teachers without borders.

If I bail, or don't get accepted, I'll probably work abroad next year and then volunteer after i've got my diploma.

If you seriously want to volunteer, then you should do it right after college, before you get a "stable/normal" life with working hours, apartment, duties etc. (You know, the box-life). Because by then you wouldn't risk the chance of volunteering and then you'd spend your whole life regretting it.

It took him a month or so to get used to the food etc. so if I would go to a nursery home or day care centre, living in a less developed part of Africa, and really understand - not just see and live through, I guess it'd take more than a month.

Four months might be fine yeah but I feel like six month is a better time. It's not too long (like eight / nine) but long enough to grasp the harsh reality some people has to live with every day, long enough to change as a person, but not long enough to forget "home".

YES.

But don't swim in still water in Africa. Someone I met travelling here has a relative who did that- she came down with intestinal worms. She also got a festering sore on her leg which contained some more worms.

So, yeah. Stay outta teh still water.

I'll... I'll take that into consideration :oh
are you sure that applies to all of Africa, you know, it's quite the large landmass. :p

Will that get in the way of you finishing uni early?
Hmmm, Africa is too hot for me to stay for 6 months. Ummm, what's part of Africa exactly? Though, do they supply you with the necessary funding (airplane ticket, housing, food, etc) when you volunteer? If so that would be cool, i would totally volunteer. What organization are you volunteer under?

It will, but I'll most likely quit anyways and switch program. Southern part. West is just meh, central is quite impossible, eastern scares the living shit out of me, northern is not really the most stable place.

So either Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia or RSA. Maybe Tanzania. I have to buy the travel tickets myself but they supply with housing, food etc at a volunteer centre / aid station. I'll most likely volunteer under Unicef (through my local region) or The SIP Network. The former which I'm a fairly new member in but I just figured I might as well join and become an active member there.

@A_I - Eat something that has already passed through a creatures intestines and then fall asleep for eternity.

i think u shouldn't ask to people here what u must decide, u're going there, not them. Also There is alot of parameters
-have u already been there ( to the place where u going) ? Do u know if u'll like it or not
-Once u decide and u go there, will u have the possibility to come back immediately if you dont like
-are u married? what ur family think about it?
-why asking if you must stay there longer than 6months? shouldn't u go first for fews weeks and decide if u should stay longer once u're there?

Well it's always interesting to hear what people think, if they'd do it, maybe they've thought of something I haven't, maybe they've volunteer'd themselves etc. so there are many reasons why I should ask for their opinion :)

1) I've already been in RSA on a project before for a couple of weeks, worked with a daycare centre and visited the "slums" outside of Potchefstroom

2) I will most likely not be able to go back

3) No, I have a girlfriend since some weeks back, and my family tells me to go for it if I want to.

4) I can't go there for some weeks and then decide, but I just added the "longer" alternative if people think that nine months or a year or something is a better time.

Hmhhmhm, don't be mad at me, but I voted for Not so long, because I think you're a very sensitive person and if you see 'too much' of this cruel, painful world it might be not good for you. *shrug*

Do you have a choice? If I were you, I will definitely go to SA. My father has been there for two months. Kids are so much fun, unlike some others, I don't see them as a waling headache. Are you good with kids?

Since I'm dropping out I won't live at campus but I'll be moving in to Teleborg which is the area just across the street from Campus which means I can stop by at night drunk crying and singing at your door :3c

I didn't read through all the posts, so excuse me if I am a bit or a lot off. It was a long time ago, but I traveled to SA for 3+ weeks and other African countries for a month+. I personally experienced an attempted robbery with a knife in Johannesburg. Honestly, unless you are suicidal, nothing is better than simply being alive. I think SA is such a beautiful country and I love the sound of the language, but please be extremely careful about where you live and visit. If you decide to go to other parts of Africa, I can say the same thing. Also, malaria is treatable, but if you ever get a choice where you live, pick a town at higher altitudes so that mosquitoes don't get you.

Yesh, I am. Not until 2012 though but I am going, which feels wonderful :)

Zimbabwe for six months at a daycare centre for children born with HIV. It's the same kind of daycare centre that I spent two weeks at in a Shantytown outside of Potchefstroom in RSA -09 so I am familiar with the environment and the medicationing / day schedule etc (roughly). And it's in the southern part of Zimbabwe, with good roads to Bulawayo and it's Airport if I wish to visit my friends in RSA. One of the guys I know from Potchefstroom works as a lawyer for one of the most successful firms in Southern Africa so he's often visiting Zimbabwe which means I have a high chance to meet him and hopefully his family too again. :)

Thank you mikkih for your information, and most of all, your concern :hug

How did you travel? Alone, with a group, family, with guides etc? Since the country you're introduced to looks very different depending on how you were introduced. I'm sorry you had to experience the robbery. Well J-burg is a pretty... "bad" tourist city and a quite dangerous city - if I'll visit RSA it'll probably be Pretoria and Potchefstroom, later one I'm very familiar with. Haven't been there many times but it's like my.. ehm, third home. Apart from some areas it's perfectly safe day-time. And I've experienced enough never to go outside of a locked yard gate when darkness falls.

However the country is indeed beautiful. Did you ever visit Sun City (luxury casino resort) or the Pilanesberg Game Reserve? Both of 'em are in the other part of RSA but if you travelled with, for example, The Pink Caravan or something, there's a chance you might've passed it.

And which language are you talking about? You know they have seven national languages? If you mean Afrikaans (the English, Dutch, French, German mix) it's a language I'm intermediate at \o/

I am already vaccinated to basically everything but the local viruses, cholera and malaria. I'll work under UNICEF so I'm pretty confident that there will be the best treatment available for us in case anything happens but I'm not that worried.

Wow, so you are volunteering and going to africa..:o
I hope you experience many things there and achieve whatever you went there for :tem!
Since this is the first time I'm posting this thread, I want to know what motivated you to go to Africa, do you mind sharing :eyeroll?
