Great thread :D

My list is to big to retype. Just check here. (http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/KaitenSensei)

BTW: Good thread to update everyone what you just finished and plan to read next!!

The last series I finished was Dorohedoro. I haven't decided on my next series yet; I'm debating Cross Game, Neuro, and Vinland Saga.

Currently reading 63 series (http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/Braiking-Boss) but Beet, D.Gray-man, and HunterXHunter are technically on hiatus.

The most recent series I finished would be Eyeshield21 and Tsukumo Happy Soul.

I still have some finished series to plow through and some on-going ones to catch up on.

I like variety and balancing stuff a bit. I also find that I remember less specific things about a series if I read it all in one go without other stuff to break it up a bit.

As for the time aspect, lack of sleep? XD

Saw your avy and thought I'd ask :D

The manga is very good, a bit different then the anime. Think of it as getting an alternate story. The ending to the original series is a bit rough, but the second series makes up for it. I've fallen a bit behind but what I read was quite good.

Just finished reading Ryuguden (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1309), a seinen manga about two boys dressed in bunny suits who ride a phallic train to an underwater brothel. I kid you not. A very weird series, neither good nor bad. I don't recommend it, once the weirdness wore off the story wasn't anything special.

Next I plan on reading Five. (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1819)

anyone know where i could read Sgt. Frog?? They don't have it in OM nor Mangafox.

edit: I just finished Rave Master!
awesome manga. one thing i didn't like is that the end was too short. i wish we could've seen more of elie's life with haru and stuff.
also, that they didn't show Belnika's life too much. she was just ignored.

Hmmm... Well, it's hard for me to recommend any mainstream shonen series other than these two; Holyland (http://www.onemanga.com/Holyland/), Alive - The Final Evolution (http://www.onemanga.com/Alive_-_The_Final_Evolution/). I could recommend more, but most of them are gonna be ecchi.

Well, I guess Ai Kora (http://www.onemanga.com/Ai_Kora/), is a good start. Although, it's more to comedy than it is to ecchi. And, for shoujo... I don't think I have any since I really don't read much of it.

Yeah, you all should definetly give a shot to 20th Century Boys. It's a master piece. I'll try writing a small summary, though its quite hard to tell about it without spoiling, it's that intense of a story (so a warning, some might find this a bit spoiling):

It's a story of a japanese man called Endou Kenji. It spawns from the childhood days of 70's Japan in to the late 90's, and in the ends goes even further to the future. Back in the golden times Kenji had a group of friends, schoolmates, who had quite tigh bond. Together they had their secret base and all, and experienced quite a few 'adventures' together. They all vowed to be superheroes in the future. As they grew older though, dreams started to change and they walked different baths. Kenji would become rock star, he was greatly impressed by the coming of rock music back then, hence the name of the series which is a song by T-Rex.

In the late 90's Kenji is an adult, running a minimart. He lives with his mum and his sisters baby that she dumped on them after mysteriously dissapearing. He never became superhero, nor a succesfull rock star. Suddenly a childhood friend dies, and a ominous cult rises from the shadows. The cult is run by 'Friend' and it uses a symbol which is very familiar to Kenji and his childhood friends, who reunite in a class meeting. A bunch of weird events take place, and it all seems to be connected to their past. Who is this 'Friend'? What happens when the mini-mart owner has really to become a 'hero'?

In terms of structure, it's quite similar to the tv series Lost, I've you've seen it. As much as flashback as actual present day action, and towards the end it even moves to future events. It's very sinister well thought out mystery plot, with a detailedly portraited Japan of the seventies.

The mixture of romance and comedy is just right, and the plot is very unique. Keima's like a mini Light; Not really evil, yet just as epic. :D

It's good (a bit funnier than the anime imo). It'll definitely be better than the anime since it'll be based on the light novel, meaning that some stuff not included in the anime will be put in the manga. And you have no idea how many funny scenes in the light novel were dismissed in the anime. :mad

Vagabond is a fictionalized retelling of the life of Miyamoto Musashi, the 17th century samurai. It's based on Musashi, by Eiji Yoshikawa, also a fictionalized account of his life. Lots of sword fights and Buddhist philosophy, by the mangaka of Slam Dunk.

Inio is the god of slice of life IMO. Slice of life seems to narrow for what he does though. Since I'm of the age, or maturity level >.< he talks about they hit pretty close to home. Especially Solanin.

Just finished reading Shut Hell (http://milky-translation.blogspot.com/search/label/Shut%20Hell) an historical action seinen from Big Comic Spirits. It is about the title character, Shut Hell, the Evil One, a female soldier who's comrades were wiped out facing the Mongols. Swearing revenge she becomes the feared "evil one", attacking and slaughtering the invading soldiers. Her path crosses with a Mongol prince, dedicated to preserving the writing and culture of the defeated tribes, against the wishes of his clansmen. Great, great series. If you like Vagabond or Vinland Saga it's a must.

I also read the first chapter of Livingstone, a new supernatural seinen from Weekly Morning. The first chapter came out last week, the translation for chapter 2 was posted today. A very promising series, make sure to read it. Really cool stuff!

Skip Beat was (and is) excellent! It starts out like any other shoujo, around chapter 6-8 you think "oh no, not this kind of manga" but around 10 and onwards it just changes direction and goes straight into awesomeness. I really like it! The complexity of the characters and how everyone complements the others is creat! It is indeed worth it! And after a while you won't even think that the art is ugly, you'll even think that it's even fitting with that type of art for the manga concidering the story etc, because it is. \o/

Just started Until death do us part... Seems awesome until now!! Its a Seinen about a precog girl who's beeing targeted by multinational company. She runs away from them after she sees that there is a blind guy who can protect her! She asks him to protect her "until death do us part"... The blind guy is pure awesomeness and ownage so far. He is kind of a hired vigilante with high tech stuff.

The series seem to have everything... from an amazing blind main character who kicks ass; to cute *scared* loly girl who can predict the future; to hot "army" girl with mother complex (who also kicks ass); to tatooed computer geek who gives intel and support. Lots of high tech stuff and elaborate explanation of said stuff.
The art is amazing and the plot gets really deep in the latter chapters of volume 2, after a more introductional volume 1

Although i havent read past volume 2, i really recomend! Its awesome

Berserk definitely gets better, especially when you start getting into the flash back arc. It is sort of Dungeons and Dragons like with the fact that is a dark fantasy. Story is solid and highly addictive when you get into it.

Recently caught up to Yankee-Kun to Megane-chan. Excellent series with great humor.

Currently reading Mixim by Nobuyki Anzai. So far I'd say it is actually better than MAR was in certain aspects thought not as good as FoR yet. Yeah, the character designs aren't really that diverse in comparison to previous works but the story telling is a bit more exciting this time and feels smoother than his last manga. It has been worth the read.

Also currently reading Suzuka. It has been an alright series so far although the main character already gets on my nerves a bit.

The main character is an idiot. He's the whole reason why I dropped it from my reading list. I'm always provoked to punch my screen every time I see his stupido face. So far, Suzuka is the only romance series that I don't recommend at all.

Just read Owari to Hajimari no Miles (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=41841) a fantastic series by Kitoh Mohiro mangaka of Bokurano and Narataru. About a world where every object has a spirit, Miles is a girl who can communicate with those spirits. She works as a spirit medium, accompanied by a mysterious man named Gikaku. Twisted, surreal, slightly disturbing, with just enough humor to keep it from getting to heavy, Owari is definitely a series worth reading!

It was in Shonen Jump for about a year before being moved to Young Jump. From what I gather, its about a stand-up comedian. It caught my eye because its by the author of Rookies and Rokendenashi Blues.

Also, interested in Mieru Hito (by Psyren's mangaka), but scans only go up through volume 4 and not sure if I wanna start something I may never get to finish.

Googlez_kun

what are fanservices??

wiki describes it pretty well^^:

Fan service (ファンサービス, fan sābisu?), fanservice, service cut (サービスカット, sābisu katto?),[citation needed] or simply service (サービス, sābisu?),[1] is a vaguely-defined term primarily used for anime and manga[citation needed] to refer to elements that are unnecessary to the storyline.[2][3] Fanservice explicitly refers to material that is designed to amuse or excite the audience with sexually-derived content.[4][5] When such content fits within the storyline, it would not usually be considered fan service, but excessive content is usually considered gratuitous regardless of its justification.[6]

Any gratuitous content included in some form of entertainment primarily to please a core group of fans is fan service.[3] The term has been used in a broader context than just anime, including Star Wars Prequels.[7]

Male homoeroticism, such as accidental kisses, are common features of fan service for females, and has been described as "easier to get away with" in terms of censorship than pantie shots and jiggling breasts.[8]

The typical, but not only, variety of fan service is racy or sexual content (usually female, but sometimes male[2]) used to titillate the viewer, such as nudity or other forms of eye candy.[4][5] Shower scenes[4] are very common in movies, and in anime of the 1980s and 1990s, while many more recent TV series use trips to onsen (Japanese hot springs) or trips to tropical locales, in order to showcase the characters in bathing suits.[5] All aim to depict characters in states of relative undress when it would otherwise be out of place with the tone of a series. In anime, two common types of fan service are the panty shot and jiggling breasts.[citation needed]

Vagabond is definitely a classic already. Gantz is good if you are into sci-fi violence. And like Kaiten said it can get repeatitive at some points, but you keep reading it gets much better with mysteries and plot twists everywhere.

I thought I had sworn off action shonen but Gamaran sucked me in. Incredibly bad ass for shonen, great fight scenes, great characters and surprisingly - no super powers. The characters are just great fighters with whatever weapon they choose. Definitely not to be missed. Also, as a quick read before starting REAL, a gave Good Ending a try. While not flashy and a little slow starting it is a very good school life series.

And I second Mago, one of the cooler new super - natural action series. Try Toriko while your at it.

Like Akamatsu's currently publishing Negima, that series is filled with repetitive, irrelevant, and tired out fanservices. There's bound to be panty-shots and naked wimmin with the main character getting his ass kicked in each and every chapter. And the arcs halfway through are just plain disappointing.
