General Discussion Index & Guide ~

Welcome to the General Discussion section, please take a moment to read this index and I sincerely wish you a great stay here.

This is the section where you hang out to talk about all kind of stuff that's IRL related.
This, until late of -10, was also the section where you as a new member introduced yourself to the community. This is now not the case and to new members I would very much like to redirect you to the Member Zone and THIS (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66947) thread. Check it out (in a new window) and then please return to this thread.

*tick, tock, tick, tock*

There, finally! Now, after you've introduced yourself, you can check out all of our great threads!
You can discuss everything from your Internet connection, (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1718) to your Pets (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260), and maybe you have a Tattoo (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51133) you wanna show us?

Check it out and behave! :)

----------------------------------------------------------

Here in the GD, we have five subsections - each with an unique charm. Click on the section names to navigate in the index.

Cooking Corner

Culture Clash

Study Corner

----------------------------------------------------------

Let's get to the point! I'll start off with introducing you to the first subsection that is the

Cooking Corner

The Cooking Corner is the General Discussion's latest addition. This is a section that exists purely to ease your hunger. Here you can talk about the various cooking cultures around the world, compare the different cuisines, explain why medium rare is more tasty than rare, or whine at the difficulties at eating with chopsticks. (Personally, I find the latter easy).

A thread I recommend you to visit to get yourself started and settled in the Cooking Corner would be The Recipes Thread (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7737)

----------------------------------------------------------

The second section is for

[B]Culture Clash

Culture Clash is the only section on MangaHelpers where you can discuss travel & living and countries. You can learn to see things from other's perspectives, and get an understanding for why some countries takes some decisions.
Here, you can also learn other languages, as the language learning threads has been moved to this section. So if you have to counter difficult grammar, you can always ask for help in here.
This is a section, not so different from the World Topic Forum, in terms of post qualities and requirements.

Some examples on the current threads are;

The Abroad Thread (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60435)

English Study Thread - Polish your forums communication skills! (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4166)

Italy (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=254)

France (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1219)

----------------------------------------------------------

Lastly I will throw you inside the

[B]Study Corner

This is where you ask questions, or discuss topics that are related to Studying.

You can for example panic in the

First Aid and Panic-Thread: The Horrors of...EXAM WEEK (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23110)

Or maybe you're the type that would like to discuss

Your favourite subject? (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50485)

Or tell everyone what majors you are currently taking/majors you once took

The Major Thread (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23170)

Or are you an US student you can discuss

US-Colleges: The Good, The Bad, and The Way Too Expensive! (http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3745)

----------------------------------------------------------

Important

Note that you mustn't talk about things that has its own Section because those threads and posts belong there and there only. Also, when writing in the Hang-Out thread - Make sure you don't develop a big discussion about something that already has a thread. Take the discussion to that thread or the mods will do it for you, and you don't want that.

MangaHelpers is a community that values their members above all and we are constantly in need of Member feedback to help us improve the community, so if you have any ideas, suggestions, complaints or any comments related to the General Categories, feel free to drop by the [Question] General Section Suggestion Thread (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2184642#post2184642) to let us know!

I will see you around! Have fun and Thanks for reading! :occa

Sincerely,

MH Staff
