I remember this riddle that my elementary teacher told my class long ago. I don't have the exact details but I know the specifics.

"My friend placed a bet with me. He claimed that he could fill a cup of ice with whiskey (or another alcoholic drink) without being in the room. I told him that it was not possible and wagered $50 that he couldn't do it. He agreed and we decided that the deadline would be midnight. To make sure that there is no way for him to cheat, we decided to place the cup of ice in a locked safe and then locked the door of the room where the safe was located. I would also be sitting besides the door to make sure he wouldn't try to pick lock the door or try to go through the windows.

That night (I forgot what time they started the bet but it was in the evening) he handed me the cup of ice, which I placed in the safe. After saying goodbye, he went downstairs to chat with some guests (there was a party, I think). The whole time I heard his voice downstairs as I guarded the room. When it reached midnight, I immediately hurried into the room and opened the safe. The cup of mostly melted ice was still there, safe and sound. Imagine my surprise, however, when I saw whiskey in the glass as well. I took a sip just to make sure, and I realized that it was indeed whiskey. It looked like I lost my bet, but how did he do it when he was downstairs the whole time?"
