A general question, what softwares you are using at the moment. And what softwares you will recommend to others.

Mine are,

1. MS Windows 7
2. MS Office 2007
3. Photshop CS4
4. Media Player Classic - A great solution to watch different sort of video formats
5. Oovoo - A free video conferencing software. Its a great software, especially for the people with low bandwidth. The movies runs so smooth.
6. Magicdisc to mount any image
7. Imageburn
8. Advanced Uninstaller Pro - Wonderful software to uninstall any thing. It even cleans registry entries and folders.
9. Ashampoo Burning Studio - I recommend it, efficient and easy to use. Easy on sytem resources as well.
10. Convert X to DVD - Best software, in my humble opinion, if you want to convert movie into DVDs. It not only converts but also burn the DVD for you. Most of all it doesn't take hours of hours for conversion.
11. Mozilla Firefox (with Personas add-onn)
12. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 - Best protection suite for me.

So what say you......

^ After Effects is great! I don't use all of them, my brother does though.

Adobe *I mean Macromedia* *cough* have really done a good job with CS4! It takes time to learn each program really well, but they're very useful!

Good luck with your upgrades! Hope they work well!

I use Ovoo for video chat. They just added a really good feature, you can share your desktop with others. By sharing I mean, you can see others Desktop. It is a great add for me since I usually help my friends and family for software and other stuff. Now I can see what they are doing, it makes things so easy.

Oh well I got it free because I work at Staples and I'm considered a representative of Microsoft. I'm also eligible to receive other random free programs they give away(even T-shirts lol :p). I also got Windows 7 Professional for free at my school since I was in an IT program before.

Also, there was this event thing where if you'd host a "party for Windows 7", they'd send you a free signature version.

Believe me, MS has given people plenty of opportunities for free stuff lol :p

Lets see...the operating system is Vista. Too lazy, poor, and no quick way to move storage around to switch to Windows 7.

As for other programs, I use:

Firefox
Trillian Astra
Winamp
VLC
Quick Media Converter
MP3 Gain (Very nifty tool; analyzes an mp3's volume and you can tweak it. Favorite song softer than your other ones? Download this software and you can balance it out. Very handy)
Skype
Quicken 2009
Photoshop/Imageready 7. I'm going to upgrade by the end of the year to CS4 and all those fun programs. Yay school discounts!
Office 2007
Pangya!

Yeah, there's more, but I don't really use them.

Question, how can i get a free Windows 7 from you?

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is awesome protection solution. Low on resources and the security it provides is excellent.

Are you asking me if I can give you a free Windows 7? lol

And yes, Kapersky is a good if you can afford it actually. unlike most AVs, it uses behavioral detection protocols rather than the standard signature based protocols that most AVs use(including paid ones like Norton and such).

You can buy the one with 3 licenses and share the cost with 2 other friends or someone else. It costs so economical that way.

Well, I have one already, need another one for my other laptop.

I am using Kaspersky Internet Security suite, I guess it has its own built-in firewall.

I'm honestly not too keen on paid AV softwares(or paid security softwares in general). I mean, threats aren't so bad that you need anything more than what free softwares can give you and honestly, the best protection is awareness. Rare are the autonomous viruses(or malwares) these days and you as a user usually have to do something in order to initiate a viral infection so you as a user carry a [large] part of the responsibility.

Btw, Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7 has been rated a good AV apparently.

Btw Jinbei, AVG is primarily an anti-virus(but it has built in firewall properties).

Avira is my anti-virus and Windows Firewall is my well... firewall. xD My other softwares are

- Microsoft Office (the entire shebang)
- Windows Live Messenger
- Y!IM
- Photoshop CS3
- Mozilla Firefox
- VLC Media Player
- Font Xplorer (really useful if I'm GFXing, lol)
- Pen Tablet
- WinRAR
- CCleaner
- Google Earth
- Sims 2 (expansion packs up to Apartment Life)
- Spybot
- Nero
- Malware Bytes
- Tomb Raider Anniversary

As you can prolly see, I am quite paranoid, seeing that I have three virus/malware/spyware protection programs. xD

Forever_Melody
November 11, 2009, 12:10 PM
You're not paranoid lol :p You basically have one AV, one firewall, one anti-spyware and one anti-malware; pretty basic stuff. If you had more than one, we'd talk lol >.> This is paranoid: using 3 proxy servers around the world when accessing any network other than your home network for internet uses(basically, if they tried to trace you, they'd end up in Asia and Africa before finding you).

Although I don't use Spybot anymore, it tends to scan every internet page I open so it slows down loading and smoothness of browsing.

Hey, 'clone how are you finding Nero? and what version do you have? I think it's the best software for burning CD's/DVD's imo. It can do a lot of other stuff lol but I mainly use it for backing up my computer files and burning some music CD's.

thornofcarrion

I have been using Ashampoo Burning Studio. I found it very reliable, easy and uses few PC sources. With Nero I had plenty of DVD faulting while the burning process. No problem with Ashampoo Burning Studio.
