Ok I am currently listening to the Samurai Champloo soundtrack and its very relaxing and so I am to the idea to make this thread. So yeah whats your favourite Anime Soundtrack, who is you favourite soundtrack composer, which anime got the best soundtrack ever? If you got recommendations for cool soundtracks then tell us here.

My favorite OST is the Juuni Kokki one, the very best in my humble opinion. Also, the Obokuri Eeumi song from Samurai Champloo (the one from the drowning scene with Mugen). Both fantastic.

Currently into the Tsukihime anime OST (since I'm playing the game :amuse).

But any of Yoko Kanno or Kajiura Yuki works are great, as is the OST of Gundam Seed (a true masterpiece), or Susumu Hirasawa's Berserk and Paranoia Agent OSTs, and also Witch Hunter Robin and Hellsing, and finally the relaxing OST of Mushishi. Those are the ones I'm usually listening to in my car :amuse

Also the awesome OST of Shadow of the Colossus but that's not an anime >.>

hehe I agree, the first of songs in OP and ED in Pokemon (when it was first arired in Poland while I was younger) that was just awesome. I listened to english version of, i dont know if it is season 1 of Pokemon :x, but in eglish like in polsih the music was awesome. Furthermore, right now beineg no Pokemon fan :x I like that two songs from the very first epiosdes of Pokemon ^^

The original movie soundtrack to Ghost in the Shell, really all the OSTs from the GiTS series are awesome. Also the Evangelion Soundtracks, and the soundtrack from the End of Evangelion movie.

if you're a fan of the famous hans zimmerman... which i feel everybody should be.... you should DEFINITELY get the blood+ soundtrack. hans zimmerman did the music. FLIPPIN amazin, that man hans...

um... you've probably heard the bleach ost... the first one... i really liked the first op, by orange range, and the second op by uverworld. and then the first ed, i think, by orange range again... called thank you... and then some other ed called movin. don't remember the artist.

good for you! samurai champloo ost rocks! you should definitely hook yourself up with the cowboy bebop ost too if you like it. search for music done by nujabes... you'll love it if you're into samurai champloo and cowboy bebop music.

Then you can not talk about anime songs without mentioning Wind and yellow moon the first and ... I don't know, 14th maybe?... ending of naruto. I also really liked Parade and Alive (also Naruto endings and i don't know of the top of my head who the artists are but if you pm me I can look it up).

Then there is also the soundtrack for Outlaw Star, a mediocre halfway decent anime from times past, but the music is amazing, this is the first anime i searched and downloaded the soundtrack for, after GitS:SAC that is...

ah~ i didn't like the first ed for bleach... actually... i can't remember it. oh yes. but i didn't like it though. but! the english was good so i give it props for that... i can't stand it when singers (not only japanese but korean, chinese, etc) sing in english without knowing what they're singing/pronouncing it correctly. i mean, i understand if the pronunciation isn't perfect, but come on, you could try.... yeah i'm just bitter.

I love quite a number of them...

For nice background music :
- Blood+ OST I and II are good, since they're by Hans zimmerman, who did the soundtrack for Gladiator and other hollywood movies
- The other one is the whole series of Neon Evangelion Genesis OSTs, done by 鷺巣詩郎 (Shiro Sagisu). He also did Bleach I OST , which is good, btw.. :smile-big

As for Ops & Eds, I like
- Inuyasha I and II OSTS 'Best of Inuyasha' as they have songs by 浜崎あゆみ, Namie Amuro, Boa, Do as Infintiy - which is quite a good mix
- Blood + Complete Best also has OPs and EDs sung by Hyde, Mika Nakashima. The best ED here is by Angela Aki 'This Love' :amuse

My current favourite is actually Endless Story by Yuna Ito from NANA the Movie...
She acted as Reira in the movie and her melodic voice just carries off this song so well. Her voice is really a contrast with Glamourous Sky by Mika Nakashima, who acted as Nana herself - a case of punk versus pop?! You can check out their songs HERE (http://www.nana-nana.net./mp3s.html).

The opening song for it is called You Raise Me Up by Lena Park. I remember Josh Groban sang this before. Well.... for me , Rurouni Kenshin has the best set of OPs and EDs. Nothing better in my opinion. And I meant that as a whole. I mean there may be some single openings and endings for some anime that maybe better than all of the songs in here but I meant for a set of songs. Since a lot of animes have only 1-2 good themes and the rest sucks quite unlike Rurouni Kenshin which kept up a WICKED SICK line-up of OPs and EDs.

My fave OSTs are the first two Tsubasa Chronicle OSTs. They are awesome. I especially like the songs "dewdrops", "guess how much I love you", "a song of storm and fire", "if you are my love" and "when two powers collide".

Other than that, the opening song to the TRC OVAs "Synchronicity" is quite good. I also like the songs to .hack, Kingdom Hearts (especially KH2) and One Piece. Suteki~~~~

It's "Real Folk Blues" all the way for me. The way the ending music was combined with the last part of the final episode created one of the greatest moments in anime, in my opinion. Every time i hear that song i'm reminded of how great that whole scene was.

From First Cowboy Bebop movie soundtrack (at least im pretty sure thats what it was) I would surely say The ballad of a fallen angel would be my favorite. It's one of the very few songs in general that I have found that I believe to really reflect the deepest emotions within a human.

Anyway my favourite soundtrack of all time is from Samurai X Tsukiohen by Taku Iwasaki. Personally I think it's his most awesome piece of work to date. My favourite track is Shades of Revolution.

It's up to you to decide what you watch first. Baccano doesn't feature a lot of people doing normal stuff, it's more mafiosi, assasins and delinquents stuff (even though the delinquents aren't really all that bad).
Durarara features more "normal" slice-of-life stuff.

My new favorite anime songs are:

The first one comes from the anime “Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru”. It is the first insert song of the series and the more I listen to it the more I like it! :) I’ve been looking for the full version of the song, but I haven’t found it yet. I so can’t wait to listen to the song without the interruption of the voices of the other characters.

Itazura na kiss is a very nice and enjoyable series. If you like romantic comedies and shojo series then I definitely recommend you giving Itazura na Kiss (the anime) a try. ^_^ Now about the dramas, I haven’t watched them yet…well I did watch a little bit of the Taiwanese Drama, but the point is that according to the fandom the Taiwanese Drama is way better than the Korean one. Yes the Korean Drama (Playful Kiss) is more stylish, but in terms of chemistry between the leads, acting and story It Started with a Kiss is far better than a Playful Kiss. I guess it’s like Meteor Garden and Boys over Flowers. But in the end, it depends on each person’s tastes and opinions.

When I was typing out a news post for the MH front page, there was a piece of news about the anime song 20yos could hum. One of the songs that made the list was A Cruel Angel's Thesis by Takahashi Youko (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A62011nyXNI) and used as the first opening of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Although I haven't heard this song in maybe 8 or 9 years (back then I was too young to know about downloading...), I found myself instantly being able to hum it as I translated the article :blink
