The episode begins with a flashback of the previous one. Rukia and Renji are hurt from Byakuya's attacks. The other zanpakuto spirits gather towards Byakuya. Omnitskudo agents appear to surround the zanpakuto. Shinigami including Soifon, Kira, Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Ichigo appear from a distance. Ichigo says Byakuya's name.
Hozukimaru and Ruriro Kujaku discuss the events for themselves. Soifon tells Byakuya that he is under arrest for treason and part of the zanpakuto rebellion plot. Kazeshini comments from a distance, saying that he will kill them regardless. He kills an Omnitskudo. This gets the other zanpakuto spirits fighting. Soifon orders the warriors to fight.
Gonryomaru and Tekken use lightning and fire, respectively. Kazeshini boasts that he can't be defeated. As he attacks, Kira clashes swords with him. Ikkaku fights Hozukimaru. They both share a grin on their faces, awaiting this from the last rematch. Gonryomaru continues to use lightning but is chased by Soifon. Tekken uses fire (he is bigger than the buildings). They team up to fight the captain. Ruriro Kujaku and Yumichika exchange words.
Ruriro Kujaku decides to kill him. Ichigo goes to the wounded Rukia and Renji. Rukia tells Ichigo that Renji is injured. Ichigo decides to take Byakuya and Senbonzakura on by himself. Senbonzakura tells Byakuya to go to Muramasa. As Ichigo attacks Byakuya, Senbonzakura blocks the attack and they fight. Renji prevents Byakuya from leaving.
Renji refuses to let his captain leave the battlefield. The two Zabimarus tell Renji to stop, saying that he is in no condition to fight. Ichigo attacks Senbonzakura once more. Senbonzakura uses shikai but Ichigo cuts it away. Senbonzakura realizes Shikai won't get through but uses Bankai. Ichigo also uses Bankai to level the playing field. Senbonzakura Kageyoshi and Getsuga Tensho clash.
The battle is interrupted by Yumichika and Ruriro Kujaku continuing to talk. Ruriro Kujaku exclaims that he is the most beautiful thing on this battlefield and as such cannot afford to get hurt. Yumichika gets him to fight seriously. Gonryomaru uses lightning. Soifon dodges and uses Shunpo to kick Gonryomaru into a wall. Tekken attacks with his fire whip.
He gets a hit on her haori, but Soifon dodges using Shunpo. Gonryomaru exclaims that she is good for the leader of the Omnitskudo, the stealth force. Soifon asks them who zanpakuto he is. Gonryomaru introduces himself but Soifon is still clueless (implying that she does not know the first squad's vice-captain as well). Soifon finally gets it after saying that he is Chojuro's zanpakuto. Gonryomaru is still angry, but Tekken calms him down.
Gonryomaru uses his electricity to create a storm cloud. Meanwhile, Kira encounters Kazeshini. Kazeshini hates that his opponent keeps dodging his attacks. Kazeshini still wants to kill Kira for last time. Kira tells him that he is Hisagi's zanpakuto so Hisagi should be the one to fight him. He then asks for the whereabouts of his own zanpakuto. This gets Kazeshini enraged.
Kira keeps dodging the scythe attacks while using kido attacks to repel him. Kira tells himself that since Kazeshini is Hisagi's zanpakuto, he can't afford to go easy. Hozukimaru uses Shikai to attack Ikkaku. Ikkaku uses Shikai with ease and they clash. Ikkaku forces Hozukimaru back. Hozukimaru is bleeding. Ikkaku wonders if this is it for his opponent.
Hozukimaru tells him the battle is far from over. Ikkaku pierces through Hozukimaru's defenses after multiple attacks. He is forced back into a house. Hozukimaru uses his Bankai to get an advantage. Ikkaku's Shikai cannot hold against the Bankai attack. Ikkaku becomes excited and fights back, but again cannot get an holding ground.
Ikkaku falls into the pool. His zanpakuto comments that the fact that he does not readily use Bankai proves that he is unworthy of holding him. Ikkaku tells him that he got something in with Shikai alone. Hozukimaru is astonished to see a major part of the Bankai has been sliced away. Ikkaku tells him that he will be the strongest, number 1. Hozukimaru breaks Ikkaku's shikai in half. They still have even blows against one another.
Hozukimaru activates the red dragon crest on his Bankai, revealing his true power. Ikkaku also leaks spirit pressure. Ikkaku remembers of his opponent, Kenpachi Zaraki, and decides not to lose until they fight. The attack leaves a crater, both warriors injured. Hozukimaru's Bankai breaks and he falls. Ikkaku falls to the ground from his wounds. Isane talks to Iba about Soifon surrounding the zanpakuto spirits and fighting in the Kuchiki manor. They are astonished to see Ashisogi Jizou, whom tilts his head.

Episode preview: It is narrated by Iba and Isane. Isane uses some form of Kido. Soifon looks at the stormy skies. Gonryomaru prepares for battle, while Soifon chuckles. Ruriro Kujaku attacks with some vines Yumichika while the latter's sealed zanpakuto falls to the ground.

I apologize for mistakening Tenken with "Tekken." Still, one would assume it would be Komamura's zanpakuto because none of the other current Shinigami have a zanpakuto name close enough to it.

Only very briefly when Ichigo arrived to save Rukia as she was about to be executed. (He didn't actually use his zanpakutou, but he did release it.) I haven't seen the subs yet, but it seems like they make about Sasakibe's lack of any presence in the anime, which seems like it is going to be hilarious when I read the translation. :gigglebunny

It's just rather bizarre that Kubo wants Chojiro to be so irrelevant, that he is allowing his zanpakuto to be revealed for the first time ever, in a filler. And so much for "vice-captains", Chojiro has been nowhere to be seen since the beginning, and I'm sure he'd be healed by now, so why isn't he temporarily in Yama's place at the discussions. But anyway, showing this sword off actually makes it possible that'll we'll see bits of Ukitake's and Shunsui's swords and their abilities, even though they've been m.i.a. up so far.

Maybe or maybe not. If these are actually the abilities of Gonryoumaru, then Kubo might have just decided to let them be shown in the anime since he may not have any intention of ever giving Sasakibe the opportunity to show it in the manga. Sasakibe isn't an important character really in any sense (easily the least relevant to the Bleach plot of all the VCs), and so getting some screen time in filler might be as good as it gets for him. (It would be even more hilarious if Kubo told the animators he didn't care about Sasakibe and just let them make up whatever they wanted for his zanpakutou. :gigglebunny)

Shunsui and Ukitake, on the other hand, have much more characterization and are much more likely to be involved in the manga in a meaningful way. Shunsui has already displayed some of his zanpakutou's abilities in the manga, which the anime has not yet shown. The anime probably won't want to mess up the big revelation for later when it would be much more climactic; the same probably goes for Ukitake and Unohana.
