It's a necessary episode, but It could've shown a bit more action coming from Hashirama and Madara. I expected at least a shot of them jumping and clashing weapons, nothing more than that...

They only made that one shot because that battle is far too epic to 'just show a few simple things'. It's like the second greatest battle ever and they wouldn't be able to make anything even remotely touching the epicness of it. They'd just screw it up. I'm glad we only got that one shot.

This was one of the best episodes so far. I really enjoyed even the small montages and symbolic pieces....Needless to say, the history lesson was my favorite sub arc, and the animation is doing it justice.


As for the Hashirama-Madara fight, it's not the animators duty to show more of it. The manga showed a few panels which were very well reflected in anime. Even the effects of the montage were good. That fight was left out by the mangaka for reasons we don't know.
If the animators elaborate on it, they could very well kill any future development the author plans.

Frankly I'm glad there was no filler content. I'd give this episode a solid 5/5

I wanted to see the actual fight between Madara and Hashirama, but it was still a good episode nontheless.
What I found interesting was that Madara claimed that the Kyubi's attack was a "natural disaster/calamity."

Omg. Another great episode. You people need to stop complaining about the Madara/Hashirama fight thing. It never happened in the manga, so why the hell would you think that it would happen in the anime. The episode's purpose wasn't to show the fight, just to mention it, as it did in the manga. And the scene that it took place in was done so well as well. The music was great again, the animation was great too, and I felt this little warm, funny feeling in my stomach when Itachi showed up smiling in the preview. I can't wait for next week now.

I'm gonna rate this episode 9/10. Really great!

I did not feel Sasuke's shock and emotions at all and the music was shit
and the Madara-Kyuubi-Hashirama doublespread was dissapointing,really dissapointing...maybe because of the low quality and maybe it would look better on my TV,but well...

Episode was awesome, off the charts man. I thought the history lesson was going to be boring to see it animated because it's just talking, but boy oh boy, time went fast in this episode. The animation was perfect, music was perfect, Madara's voice was so awesome. Everything was great in this episode, just like the manga. I didn't expect a fight between Madara and Hashirama because it was never shown in the manga lol so obviously it isn't going to be shown in the anime.

This episode has to be one of the best episodes I have seen through the series, it was perfectly done. Can't wait for the next one, hehe.

Did not really like it...Are you kidding me? Watch it again if you didn't feel the shock and confusion. The scenes portray it excellently. And so does the music.

About you guys being dissapointed about that scene it's not the animators fault there's a guy called Hayato Date who's the director and he decides what to put on the episode so you guys shouldn't complain about that maybe it will be better explained later on the anime or manga because there are only a few panels but for now i like what i saw,I know it's a key scene on the manga but really it's not such a big deal to whine about a single scene, i don't want to insult anyone but if you think you can do it better prove it because making a episode really takes a lot of effort and the animators shouldn't be blamed by such a little thing like that.
What i liked about this episode was the whole itachi is good/evil montage :)

The Episodes main criticisim shouldnt be that scene at all , It was above average episode for Naruto Shippuden (well a lot of episodes since 120 has been having decent animation)

It was pretty good chapter, I really enjoyed the narrative. I was afraid the story would be boring. I dont know why everyone is complaining. The manga didnt show in detail Hashirama vs Madara fight in first place, besides Madara´s talk was no focus on it. The animation was excellent, too. Well, it is matter of opinion.

Episode is epic. I dont understand people complaining about animation. I doubt that 80% of them watched streaming version. Download HD version and then complain.

I honestly don't see what more they could have done. He was breathing hard, hyperventilating, his eyes were bloodshot and sweat was streaming down his forehead. It was quite clear his whole sense of reality and understanding of the world was crumbling around him.

Maybe I misread, but the version I watched had Madara say "more than 80 years ago" leaving the exact date still unknown.

On another note, as I recall the Hyuga also live in their own area of the village, as do other clans presumably. Is the difference the fact that the Uchiha were forced to live that way and were placed at the far edge of the village to ostracize them? Comparatively the Hyuga and others have their compounds perhaps placed in among the normal habitations.

Great episode, I love how certain members of this site find something to complain about every single week despite not paying a cent to watch this show... The animation, music, and silent scenes were done beautifully. I really felt the turbulence of Sasuke's feelings throughout the episode, and Madara shows us why he's so damn cunning. What makes him such a great liar is that he mixes the truth along with his lies, depending on who he talks to.

They didn't have much to base an expansion on the Madara vs. Hashirama fight on as we know little about what Madara's fighting abilities were back then, we only know that he was considered extremely powerful and that he controlled the Kyuubi. He certainly seems to have not had his phasing jutsu (or else it would not be considered so strange and incredible), which is almost all he uses these days.

So it's probably best that they didn't expand on it. The episode was still good. I loved the way they portrayed Sasuke's emotional breakdown, as well as Madara's emotions in the flashbacks. Little things like how they kept showing the rest of the Uchiha turning their backs on him, him thinking of his dead brother when faced with the treaty, and the way Madara's hand hesitates ever so slightly when about to shake Hashirama's hand for the treaty.:cool:

One can sort of admire Madara for doing what the rest of the clan wanted (accepting peace, a stop to the constant killing) despite his reservations and grudges against the Senju, albeit his agreeing to the alliance is mitigated by how he was only going to continue accepting it if he became hokage (for the expressed purpose of making sure the Uchiha were not discriminated against, but nonetheless making himself appear greedy and power-hungry, which he also was I think).

Well, when I callled it epic, I wasnt pointing at animation or better said only at animation. The whole episode that includes: animation, Madara´s speech (his voice is so epic!) Sasuke´s emotion, the whole story and background you know ;)

for most of us animation includes backgrounds,animation and voices,but i have to admit that the content was epic too:)

and there are not many who have not read the manga before,so you can always ask us,when you have questions^^

And as Googlez_kun said, the plot, the fights, the reactions, the character developement are discussed when the chapter comes out.
I could be mistaken but isn't there more discussion when we have fillers?
Like "Argh the episode was soooo bad today :facepalm" or "He is acting out of character all the f*cking time!! Jeez! I hate blablablablablabla...." or "The story of the fillers was fine at the beginning but it kept getting worse u_u". Something like this.
Nonfiller episodes are rather about animation and how well the manga is adapted.

I'm looking forward to the next episodes. I was afraid the Madara talking would be boring as hell but it was quite well made and interesting. It was easier to follow and Madara's motivation became clearer to me.
