That is so cool! Where did you find the information?

Oh if you don't mind, i am very curious about Kateikyou Hitman Reborn's average ranking before and after the genre switch (around chapter 64.. i think?)

I don't have the ToC's for 2001, 2002, the last half of 2003, 2004, 2005, and a few early ones in 2006. So unfortunately I can't get you the early Reborn ones. Maybe someone else who has those issues can post it for you. Anything from 1968-2000 I can get.

The first TOC posted to the WSJ LJ is from May 9, 2005: here (http://community.livejournal.com/weeklyjump/2005/05/09/). It gives a good idea of how Death Note, Gintama, Reborn, and D. Gray Man did during their first year, if you have the time to go through the subsequent charts. At the time Reborn was usually in the middle or bottom. By the fall of 2005 it was high middle, near the top 5. Gintama was usually high in the top 10 by May, 2005. DGM was a lot like it was towards the end of it's WSJ run, usually low with random chapters making the top 5 or high in the top 10. Death Note was generally right in the middle but dropped more than it rose. It made very few top 5's despite being the best selling of the 2004 series.

Like, all the way to the beginning.

Akutare Kyojin / Yoshihiro Takahashi
1•2 no Ahho!! / Hiroshi Motomiya
Yon-chome no Kaijin-kun / Takeshi Matsutani
Circuit no Ōkami / Satoshi Ikezawa
Neppu no Tora / Motoka Murakami
Hokuto no Kishi / Shirō Toozaki/Ippei Minami
Tōdai Icchokusen / Yoshinori Kobayashi
Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo / Osamu Akimoto (New Series)
Beranmē Holmes / Yasumi Yoshizawa
Doberman Detective / Buronson/Shinji Hiramatsu
Hōchōnin Ajihei / Jirō Gyū/Jō Biggu
Play Ball / Akio Chiba
Condor no Tsubasa / Norihiro Nakajima
Toilet Hakase / Kazuyoshi Torii

It didn't get the cover. Guess they didn't think it would last.

That guy Buronson wrote Hotoku no Ken. There are very few in that era I'd heard of. Still working on First of the Blue Sky in Comics Bunch.

Thank you!
Gee, Reborn's gag manga days is quite worrying. (If that is really from the gag manga days... i am not sure). I am glad they make the genre switch. I actually enjoyed the gags, but i admit there are some bad chapters... and it can't compare to the epicness of its battle arcs. :blink

You can see the position of the series in each issue, from 70's to now. With a little patience, you can "do" the ToC.

Both Naruto and One piece was an instant hit. One Piece never hit bottom 5 during it's first year and by 1998 was staying firmly in the top 5 and got many covers. Naruto was slower but still rises pretty quickly

it was a lot easier than I thought, so if people want, I can make more of the old ones...(if I have time that is...;))

Can someone post some old ToC's from 2003-2004. Specifically, I am looking for the ToC's showing Shaman King's decline up to cancellation. Such a long running series being canceled is interesting to me.

2003 ToC - Shaman King is 6th from Top
http://www.pretty.ne.jp/~missile/jump/2003/position.html

2004 ToC - Shaman King is 5th from Top
http://www.pretty.ne.jp/~missile/jump/2004/position.html

basically, for the last 10 or so chapters, Shaman King constantly stayed below 15th....
