hmm the spoiler pics paint a pretty vague picture, but looks like the action starts soon. This Sea God stuff is intriguing, I wonder where Miura will take it

FINALLY !!
But there is almost nothing to say about it. The guy who took the picture seems obsessed by this girl.

It's more likely that Isma is centre stage for much of the episode. My gripe, though, is with her cartoonish depictions, which I'd rather were kept to an absolute minimum (or not present at all), Berserk being seinen and all. You can still have humour and excitement without over-the-top, spastic expressions.

From the short spoiler script, I get that the chapter is about Isma's life...I'm not sure if I get this right but her fish like appearance which our little witch saw, is inherited from her mother...I don't know whether if Isma or her mother, but one of them is hated by the entire village...
And her father is dead...
(unfortunately no sign of Guts in the spoilers :( )

I'm not interested in what goes on in the chapter yet but more interested if a date is on the last page. :P

Yeah, pretty much that's what it says.
Also, her father said that someday her mother will return (she left i guess). That weird guy is saying something about a "ceremony to revive the sea god".
Acording to the spoiler the monsters in the last pic with Guts are the people from the town.

wow its alreadys trans 0.o
its sooooooo good to see guts and caska again =)
So Isma is a good person, i bet she would join the team after she meets her mother and fights the sea god with guts. Isma would be the water fighting pro ^^
So this is the first Full Moon since the strange wind pass through? (astral world merging)
Good on the fishingmen to tap a merrow lols!
It seem like lots of dialog in that chapter which makes it more impressive that the trans are out! Miura has return!! time to party!

Isma seems to be the next girl in Gut's group.
More important, Berserk in the next release or not ?

Well I am going to be positive and say in 2 weeks we will have another chapter even though it says nothing about when on the last page. Even then it also says nothing about a break so....

Isma for Gut's next nakama.I'll say the whole island is the disguised "sea god".A floating moving island just like the Genbu but with tentacles. This should be interesting. This gonna take a while before guts and co. reaches elfheim..oh yeah tentacle rape! jk

Yeah there will be like almost or a whole volume on the sea god, just like with the lost children arc with the apostle elf and the trolls.
Miura's normal pace is 3 weeks, but 2 would be divine!
By the way does anyone know what this arc is called? after griffiths kingdom poped up?

By the looks of it the villagers are either being eaten alive by the tentacles or capture alive to be eaten later or to be made a sacrifice to the even larger creature than the tentacles.I'm sure Isma is living alone all this while and she's obviously quite obvilious of whats going on around her.Fortunately for her she's being spared cuz of her mom's magic.

No, when Miura is on a normal schedule it's every 2 weeks, because Young Animal is a bi-weekly magazine.
Anyways, really nice chapter. I'm glad to see Guts back in action.

I really wonder if we will see a new comrade, Anyone want to guess how long will it take to get to elfhelm, And indeed, it feels very good to see guts back slashing his dragon slayer, I want to see the God of those seas already!
Cheers.

In Berserk time, maybe two weeks.
In real time, we could have to wait anywhere from 1-5 years :(

miura is 44. apparently he has no intention of finishing berserk in his lifetime.

Hmm bererk has been going for 20 years. And miura was 24 when he started. We already have 313 chapters. The thing is are we halfway done? If so, it would finished at chapter 600+ when miura is 64. A well planned life I'd say lol. But which chapter do you think berserk will end? Maybe he would keep writing until late 60s. We have a good chance (I think) to see this ends. I hope miura keeps healthy and God please protect him.

Well, llamapie can add one more count to the "# of "Miura will die before Berserk is finished" comments"...
But besides that, in response to hibar90: actually, in a reply to a letter sent to Miura by the lovely fellows at SK.net, the author stated that the story is currently at 60-70% percent, so make what you will of that. Miura didn't send the reply himself: actually, his editor was the one to give us a couple of answers, with the accept of THE MAN.
And related to this chapter, there were quite a lot of different/funny faces he did for Isma... Seems like the next chapter (in two weeks' time, if we're lucky), we'll see Guts opening a can of whoopass on those things and maybe a bit of a Sea God?

If this was bleach when the Innkeeper show his face there will be 4 pages of "what are you" "I'm a spawn of the sea God and I'm gonna bla bla bla bla.
Gutts doesn't care, he is ugly and deserves a knife in the eye.

If this was Bleach we would have 20 pages covering only 2 seconds of action. We would also have horrible villains and convenient power ups and power downs. Not to mention skill would be based on your spirit power not the thousands you slaughter heartlessly.
I love Berserk.
When you compare this manga's plot, characters, detail, and just everything - even compared to epic mangas like One Piece it is 100 times better. The characters are as realistic as you will ever find in any story and the art work is exceptional. Gutts has skill based on necessity and just experience. There is no lame measures of power in this story like 99.99% of other mangas out there. Its simple. Humans vs. Monsters. The best and the worst of each side.

No it's understandable, we tend to be more lenient with the rules here in the section due to the hiatus-factor. However, comparing Berserk to shounen manga is sort of silly, and whenever you compare two series, it almost always leads to bashing and subsequently, arguments (though maybe not in this case :P). We just try to avoid such a thing for those reasons.

I have to discredit that previous statement.. If you take out all the gore and adult themes in berserk it is comparable to a shonen in just sheer ridiculousness. Even without taking it out the story is simply ridiculous.
Someone said I never post in berserk.. they were terribly wrong..
xi0
July 04, 2010, 04:53 AM
What is "sheer ridiculousness"?
Berserk is a Mature, Dark Fantasy series...many genres can be "ridiculous" by real world standards.
And I don't know how you "discredit" my statement in your post either. I was simply saying comparing Random Shounen to Berserk is sort of silly. Shounen and Seinen don't usually operate on the same wavelength, at least as far as plot progression, plot devices, and themes go. Sure there are general things that are characteristic of nearly all manga, but I digress.

<< Agrees with xi0 but disagrees with llamapie
You can't compare two different genres, the target audience is different and they are allowed to do different things in the stories. This would be like comparing saturday morning cartoons to an HBO original series.
As far as disagreeing, Berserk is second to me close behind One Piece. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this is mine, but both do a great job working with pacing and making you feel like there is a chance that the main character could lose this fight. I think too often a manga will make sure you know the main character isn't going to lose, the only manga that I think takes it further than these two with regards to hopelessness would be Gantz; but it falls short because it doesn't have the high points like the other two which really makes the low points have more impact.

Well if you read up I was just responding and more or less comparing the authors more than the series itself. Granted yes they are completely different age groups.
I love One Piece as well, but Berserk is actually what got me into manga and anime to begin with. Well I liked watching DBZ on TV so I researched some stuff and Berserk came up as a quality item so I bought the anime series and concluded there had to be more so looked up the manga. I just love the characters too much :P.

If anyone still cares, EG's scans are now available for download after an unusually long delay. I'd offer a link, but that goes against MangaHelpers' new policy on scanlations.
I trust you all know where to look...

off topic much?
http://view.thespectrum.net/series/berserk-chapter-313.html
Did anyone else notice the caption saying, "beings of the wicked ocean". This would lead one to think that there are going to be several of these tentacle monsters. Its hard to say if they're all connected and based on, "beings" being plural i'd have to say separate.
http://view.thespectrum.net/series/berserk-chapter-313.html?ch=Chapter+313&page=3
She mentions that, "they're afraid." I presume this is referring to the town folk who have now been eaten? However then she mentions, "all of em". I didn't think too much into this declaration after Isma started telling her feelings about the island as of late and the towns people turning to tentacles until the following...
http://view.thespectrum.net/series/berserk-chapter-313.html?ch=Chapter+313&page=4
After re-reading this and this http://view.thespectrum.net/series/berserk-chapter-313.html?ch=Chapter+313&page=9
I started thinking... when Isma says, "the people of this island are afraid of incurring the wrath of the sea god" her facial expression is that of smugness. It reminded me of this picture... http://view.thespectrum.net/series/berserk-chapter-312.html?ch=Chapter+312&page=21
My prediction: Isma is the sea god. Whole lot of fish flying around that head. She also knows a lot about the story of the sea god. I think she is a major player in whats to come and not simply another companion. IF she IS the sea god then I'm thinking she's bipolar. ATM she's manic and happy but if she gets depressed and pissed... lol she'll eat all the fish and destroy that part of the wild? (general area which primarily encompasses water? lol) I'm still not sure whats up with the tentacle beasts yet though and if they're related.
Any thoughts?

Well I am thinking each of the big ones is an arm of the main one (the island) or perhaps on an even larger scale.

Well read the chapter again...I thought I would like it more...I think this is due to waiting for the chapters...I mean it was so spectacular when I read the whole, and I waited infinite months for a chapter with not much action or development...but nonetheless I liked the small little info presented...I like how the world of berserk evolves...and by the look of guts, there's showtime next chapter
