Well, I normally don't post thread myself that much, but I'm just curious...

I was watching Hakuouki ep3 today (DB sub, in case you might want to check it out), and I noticed this tiny text that runs across the screen below...which normally, fansubber won't touch since normally, it has nothing to do with the show and a waste of time translating them in, but...this one got my attention.

インターネット上でのテレビ番組の不正利用が多発しております。 番組を権利者の許可なくインターネットなどを通じて配信することは法律で禁じられておりますのでご注意ください。

Roughly translated as:

There have been frequent reports of TV programs being distributed illegally on the internet. Please be aware that distributions of these programs along the internet without permission from copyright holders are prohibited by law.

Didn't mean to frighten anyone after that case with Shueisha, but I'm just curious...anyone saw anything like this in any other animes? It seems like a warning...while on the same time, it doesn't seem like one...don't know how to say it...>_<"

Nope, I only know the opposite, from Battle Programmer Shirase....

The final episode of the show made the unusual step of explicitly apologizing for ending the series, not only the local Japanese viewers, but also those in the fansub community: It was addressed to "those who enjoy the show on TV, and to those outside the broadcast area who took special measures to watch the show on their PC monitors, and to everyone who watched it subtitled overseas without permission."

:p

Hmm, interesting...

An anime that apologises to...fansubbers and fansub watchers? O_o

Certain channels that airs anime have this warning. It's been in place quite a while, to my memories Clannad (maybe even AIR)had them from a couple of years back already. Nothing new. I think they started adding it to episode shortly after a bunch of guys got arrested for uploading TV recordings of anime on to Share (which I *think* it was 2 years ago, since I remember Shugo Chara raws took 20 hours to pop up instead of 5).

A big LOL from me. That is all.

Japan To America: Stop Anime Piracy!

Japan is putting more and more effort into stopping the online rampage of illegal anime distribution. Just a few days ago, this very issue was the subject of a formal request issued by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), to the government of the United States no less. The news was picked up by ANN, revealing a bit more about what was discussed during the Japan-U.S. Trade Forum held on October 18:

"[Japan's statement] included a request for the United States to help stop the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of Japanese animation online. Specifically, the formal statement mentions the spread of Japanese animation and other materials on video-sharing sites and peer-to-peer file-sharing networks.

(...) Despite frequent requests to remove unauthorized material from sites with user-submitted videos, the ministry says the fundamental problem remains unresolved for the foreseeable future. The ministry also says that the high legal costs and complex procedures of copyright infringement cases against peer-to-peer file-sharing are issues."

Japan trying to fight piracy on the internet is useless. Try to take down thepiratebay.... no one succeeded.
