Could Sasuke's moment of clarity be his death?

I chose the words "moment of clarity" as opposed to 'redemption', because I don't want anyone confusing what I'm saying with, "Sasuke needs to die in order to be redeemed," since that is not what I'm talking about here.

I was reading through some old chapters, and came across the VoTE chapters, particularly when Sasuke loses his cool with Naruto, screaming that Naruto has always been alone, and so there is no way he could understanding losing people important to him.

At the time, Naruto was in the process of losing Sasuke, but even later on after having defeated Pain, Naruto admitted that it was no surprise he couldn't get through to Sasuke, because he had no idea how Sasuke felt until he experienced his personal losses.

With the assumption that Itachi's "gift" either fails, or is merely nothing but an actual attack, I think a reminiscent image of Naruto bearing himself upon Sasuke, and Sasuke wide-eyed back at Naruto screaming that he still doesn't understand...

But then... Naruto hugs Sasuke. He hugs him, holding a kunai between the two of them, stabbing Sasuke in the chest.

And in Sasuke's dying moments, whether through self-revelation or by Naruto speaking to him, Sasuke watches Naruto do what Itachi did for the greater good. Itachi killed his clan to save the Leaf... and Naruto kills Sasuke to do the same. Seeing Itachi in him, and realizing not only the weight of Naruto's sacrifice, but Itachi's sacrifice in seeing Naruto... might just be enough to, in his dying moments, realize his error, and reconcile before passing on.

I think utter defeat and failure would result in Sasuke seeing the error of his ways. It could be in death or he could come to this realization without dying. I think that after all his efforts fail him, sasuke may realize that he had been wrong all along. He might realize that his hatred could only bring him this far. If sasuke loses against naruto despite all his hatred, he might be forced to acknowledge that he was wrong all along. This could be while he is dying, or simply in defeat.

Wouldn't the act of killing Sasuke go against everything that Naruto stands for? I mean he was willing to let Nagato live even after all the deaths he caused all for the sake of peace and supposedly not continuing the cycle of hatred, So him killing Sasuke would be hypocritical.

Anyway, On to your actual question, No I don't think Sasuke will have a moment of clarity at his death. If Sasuke does die, I'm guessing that the realization of his actions and Itachi's actions will be the thing that causes him to sacrifice himself in order to bring about whatever peace they're working to. In order for Naruto's self imposed theme of peace to work, He'll have to get Sasuke to understand things before Sasuke dies, Otherwise it doesn't work.

Killing Sasuke wouldn´t be against Narutos way of life.
He wouldn´t kill if it brings a circle of hatred.
But who would want to avange a death of Sasuke?

Naruto himself: Obviously wouldn´t want to kill himself.....but i see a posibility for Fanficitions here XD
Sakura: Already agreed to kill him and wanted to do it herself
Ino: We don´t know if she still loves him
Kakashi: We don´t know his opinion
Madara: A bad guy wanting to kill ya? No big deal....
Oroshimaru: if in some form still alife look at Madara

Sasuke's moment of clarity will be prior to his death, and he will most likely only die of his own accord considering the only person powerful enough to kill him will likely never do so.

The way i see it, Sasuke will likely get his moment of clarity, probably on the brink of his defeat, then see Naruto be threatened and jump in and take the hit and utter the same "My body moved on it's own." that he spoke way back when he took those needles from Haku. This time though i don't think he'll be spared the consequences.

I don't know Jam, I'm not sure if I can see Sasuke dying. I probably would of been more inclined to agree with you before the Pain invasion arc.

I could have conceived he would live before the Pain invasion but after what he did at the summit....his chances of survival became nil IMHO.

In my opinion it leaves to many plot holes now. Naruto will never hate Sasuke, but the families and friends of the samurai he killed and the Raikage who lost his arm and that pursuit shinobi are unlikely to be as forgiving, nor are the Danzou loyalists. The only way i can realistically imagine Kishimoto handling that is the way he has handled it in the past.....he doesn't. He'll kill him off in a heroic way thereby dodging the questions of forgiveness and justice, just like he did with Pain.

We have yet to be sure that Sasuke killed those Samurais... the only one we clearly know he has killed is Danzo.

But either way, his attack on the summit, even if Danzo was the only target, is considered a major crime to the ninja world, and because of that they all want him dead.

Kishi made sure that people wanted Sasuke dead, he made it clear to us that Sasuke was wanted to be dead, and to me, its OBVIOUS that Sasuke will die.


But Sasuke's moment of clarity... will it ever happen?

Where could Sasuke consider what he has done to be wrong...? Do you really believe Sasuke will go back on what he has done and say that he should have forgave Danzo and co. and chose Itachi's path???

To me that sounds impossible... the only who could happen to modify Sasuke's path would be for some1 to become a greater target for revenge than Konoha...... and who would that be? Madara obviously.

Will Sasuke be so bent on revenge against Konoha when he learns that the man behind the mask is responsible for the Kyuubi attack, the Uchiha massacre and Itachi's living hell? Come on now its obvious the answer is no.


There is only one thing for Sasuke to realise and its the truth about what really happened on that night and what really pushed the Uchiha clan to their downfall.


The prophecy was told, the two Childrens of the sage were entrusted a misson ; breaking the curse of hatred and bringing peace to the ninja world.

Those childrens are Naruto and Sasuke, and that curse is Madara.

Yea to add to this, we should remember what Sasuke's goal aside from revenge is, the revival of his clan.

In all honesty, I can't see Sasuke knocking anyone up for a few reasons, one of which being he has no girl near him for it to happen, and he's too damn busy to get laid anyway lol.

The only way he could have offspring would have to be in some kind of one night stand with Sakura, or perhaps a new character later on in the story.

In any event, I've always thought Sasuke would be the last Uchiha, and he would revive his clan in spirit but not in body. By virtue of the Mangekyo Sharigan existing, the Uchiha clan would never be at peace with itself, nevermind other villages and clans. So death seems to be the only option left for them.

I don't think Sasuke would see the light at his death. I believe Sasuke saw the light or moment of clarity when he came face to face with Tobi aka Uchiha Madara and after he fist (http://www.cloudmanga.com/Naruto/485/#12-13) bumped Naruto the second time. I think Tobi's moment of clarity would be at his death. :tem

naw, I hate to see naruto having an eye like those. he is more powerful without it. and I don't think naruto will be the second kakashi. im done with the eye monster and fetishes
