Ehm. The OP dub in English has editted alot of scenes (removed blood, replaced ciggarettes with God-forbidden objects, replaced guns/swords with something less violent, etc.). So yes, the English One Piece is childish, and is not worth the watch. While OP in English was put in the normal timings for young children, it is in fact, an anime/manga for people older than 12, and as far as I know, even a few adults watch it. XD
But I really recommend you the subbed anime, and possibly the manga as well.

That few adults happen to be with quite a lot, though, otherwise it wouldn't be the best-selling manga series and fourth-rating anime series in japan, now eh? Even if every kid over there watched and bought it, it wouldnt be enough for that :D
Ah. true. I do remember that one of the latest volume was the best selling book, until Harry Potter and the...well, one of the HP series beat it. Or am I confuzzling things up? //Dizzy

ABS no, don't fallen to the trap of 4kids, they murder ya.
when the english one piece first come out, I persuade a lot of people watch it bc I love the manga. But when I watch it myself, I want to commit suicide.
One of my friend still watch the english version since he is already fallen so low. Anyway, the sub much better.

Okay-- the first time i saw One Piece on CN-- i almost cried. Of course it is my favorite manga and the anime is one of the best.
Here is a quote of myself for someone who said a similar thing to yours.
i agree with WhiteSilver. Never watch One Piece Dub!!! I will tell you something else- one of the One Piece translators always has a warning that no one should watch one piece dub-- they killed it.
And since you dont know-- One Piece is the top Manga in Japan. Its Anime-- one of the best.
OP Anime Ranked higher than naruto this year (fillers hurt-- of course). But sitll OP anime was ranked number 6 (or was it 4) last two years in Japan's top 100 anime. if you dont watch it or allow yourself to like it you will never know. although i will say that these rankings change every year and arent.
And then let me give you an example of the strength you will encounter in One Piece-- With the clash of their swordlike weapons two of the strong One Piece characters can Cleave the sky/clouds in two.
i am a naruto fan-- but i love one piece as well.
The Subbed for the anime is your ticket-- never the dubbed.

Wehe. As much as I hate the dub, we better not get carried away. ^_^ But since we've answered the original post's question, I can lock this thread. And if saadku wants a question asked, then a pm can be sent to me. ^_^
