View Full Version : Done I am having trouble translating this

The following is the intro to a Doujinshi I am attempting to translate but, when I tried, I found it pretty difficult to do.

If somebody could be so kind to do me the favor over sharing even the slightest glimpse of their expertise on how to properly translate this, I would very highly appreciate it from the very bottom of my heart.

I will place my pitiful translation underneath the Japanese text line for line.

調理済みの肉が差し出された
The cooked meat was presented (prepared)?

だがそれは既に喰いかけのようで
but just as he started to devour it up

喰い糟や溢れた肉汁が飛び散っていた
the consuming lees and overflowing juices had been scattered

それでも命ぜられる儘に喰いついた
However he ate it just as commanded

僅かに生まれた 「欲」 が
I understand the slightest inborn desire

「食欲」で無いことぐらい わっかている
to not even have an appetite

どうでもいい そんな事は
It does not matter that

必要性も無ければ
if you don't have the craving because

意味すらも無いのだから
there's just no meaning in that

The part that really confuses me and has me stumped is:

僅かに生まれた「欲」が

「食欲」で無いことぐらい わかっている

I have no confidence at all that I even have any idea what that sentence means.

Well, again, if someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Padawan09

I will have a look at this, but even though I know that your profile pic isn't a swastika, it looks a lot like it, and it is bothering me.

Please consider this.

Doujinshi is a fan-comic right? Does it apply to novels too? Is this a comic or a novel? If there is a comic, could you supply the images that go with this?

A lot of translation is linked to the context, within the text and with the images, since the images are part of the text.

Maybe I just need to get better at translating...

No no, I totally agree that knowing the context is crucial to producing a translation. I mean, I posted my questions elsewhere and, native speakers of Japanese were also unsure about what the context is.

I think we are sorta like walking in the dark when we can't see the context.

What the challenge is for me when performing a translation is that I am unfamiliar with the Manga completely so, I have no clue what each word is an implication of.

I believe the Doujinshi is Bleach. I will try to post up a picture. This doujinshi does have some adult scenes in it so, I wonder if that has anything to do with the context.

I obviously will not post any of the adult images, as I imagine it is against forum rules.

Please forgive me if my Avatar offends you. I really do not mean it to be offensive to anyone. I abhor the Nazis, racism, and genocide. I ask you very warmly to read about the history of the Icon/symbol.
