Heh. With Danchou's and Kei-chan's threads gone, is this the temporary headquarters of the SWOKY or something? xD

But yes, it's good to see Lucky Star stealing all the prizes, finally some recognition! (Well, not like it wasn't getting it before, but the more the better, right? Hah!)

The thing that really got me laughing out loud though, was seeing Ono Daisuki as Hosaka from Minami-ke running away with an award...

A very nice movie although Orlando Bloom acts in it, just a little but unfortunately important role. He is Paris (?) and well, Brad Pitt is Achilles.

Hmmm, I've got it on dvd... It's actually one of those rare movies in which I liked that brat Pitt (and no, not because he was wearing a skirt).

Bloom just ruined all his scenes though, even moreso because he was often on-screen at the same time as mister awesome, Eric Bana, and therefore Bloom's poor acting skills were even more accentuated. :amuse

In the end though, I do like the movie, perhaps even because of how they altered the story... Especially how they portrayed the achilles' heel myth, and Sean Bean, heh.

I've had Sono Wake O in my head all weekend. I've also been in an exceptionally good mood all weekend. Coincidence? I think not.

Other favorites: Neoteny, Last Scene, No. 9, Siren, N.G.S., Re:Re:, Jihei Tansaku, Ango No Waltz, Korogaru Iwa Kimi ni Asa Ga Furu.

Ok, I know that's a lot of favorites, but... well, yeah. Good stuff. Any time you want to force more music on me, feel free. :amuse

And where's my voice file? :oh

Not that you care, but I finally finished Higurashi. Overall, I think I preferred season 1 to season 2 (I got kinda bored towards the end). I'm not sure season 3 will be nearly as interesting now that the mystery's been solved and they're not cycling through time anymore.

Since when do I not care? :notrust

And yes, with the exception of the bored part (since there was more suspense in the second season, and I really liked the scene in between the final two arcs where they ask Hanyan to join them, my favourite scene in the entire series. <3), I'd have to say I liked the first season better too, if only because of the blood, heh heh heh.

And well, I don't know what the third season's gonna be like, since they ran out of games, but if they're just going to animate random extra chapters and bonus stories and special scenarios (and trust me, there's enough of those out there to even make a fourth season, if they expand on it just a little bit), then I can assure you, it'll still be great stuff. :amuse

(And there's a large chance of most - if not all - season three scenarios taking place somewhere in between Higurashi and Higurashi Kai, instead of it being set after Kai)
[hr]

Btw Khal, how's 20CB?

I'll tell you when I read it. >_>

I started with Zetman, 'cause it was shorter, and the day after that, schoolstuff kicked in (oh, and I got invited to some stuff and Ashura started up again, etc etc, so I ran out of manga reading time, hehehe~ And when I read a new series, I want to do it in one go, so I have to schedule a couple of hours for it, read: the weekend).

But I was gonna read it next, yes: promise.

how are you doing? ^^

(yes, i'm bored.)

I'm fine, 'cause I'm typesetting One Piece (and therefore not working on some school thingie that was due today~). Wheeee~

But I overslept today, first time in... five or so years... Missed english class because of it... (No biggie, since I had three free periods after it, and it's not like english is all that interesting as a class, I've never learned anything there anyways~). I actually saved time by oversleeping, heh!

Ah yes, the blood of course contributed ;) but the first season rocked based on sheer WTF-ness alone.

And I loved the entire first half of of season two, but by the second arc most of the mystery was gone, and it was just a matter of wrapping everything up, even though you knew what the outcome would be. I did enjoy the scenes with Takano's backstory though.

(And there's a large chance of most - if not all - season three scenarios taking place somewhere in between Higurashi and Higurashi Kai, instead of it being set after Kai)

Hmm, that might be cool, but only if they introduce some new major mystery at the same time -- like a world that's inexplicably off-kilter. Violence without plot doesn't really interest me all that much, although I'll most likely watch it anyway. :amuse

Khal-nii-chan, does a clannad movie really exist because I just saw a torrent of it?

Galth
March 11, 2008, 11:40 AM
Yes, it's older than the Clannad anime series (aired last summer, if I'm not mistaken), but the dvd was released a few days ago, so the raw popped up recently.

But I suggest you wait a while for Eclipse to sub it, even if there's a sub by EnA, which shouldn't be bad either, out there...

Well, continuity rules, and Eclipse rules, so I say: wait for Eclipse.

Predator
March 11, 2008, 02:42 PM
:tem ..... Actually, it doesn't necessarily need to be subbed, Khalie.
I hate to disrupt your illusions about Clannad series, but .... it's very simple. And the movie has very low complexity language-wise and plot-wise alike. If I take into account the fact that you've been following the series up until now, you should have no problem understanding the movie version, even with all the plot differences.

And it's Magie on top of it all .... with her level of Japanese ... ^_^

Schwindelmagier
March 11, 2008, 03:20 PM

Galth
March 11, 2008, 03:52 PM
:tem ..... Actually, it doesn't necessarily need to be subbed, Khalie.

The sub by EnA was out within 15 hours of the raw or so, so it doesn't really matter either way, but...

I'd rather get 'all' of it, and concentrate on the story, than get 80% of it.

And, I'm not like you or Trix, I don't get enough of the japanese to catch everything I want to catch making it worth for me to watch it in the original language, you're probably thinking too highly of me, like usual. :amuse

And I'm just waiting for Eclipse either way. :oh

Schwindelmagier
March 12, 2008, 04:15 AM
I am downloading EnA's version and when Eclipse's version is out, I will remove the EnA one and replace it with Eclipse's. So I will watch EnA's and then Eclipse's. Maybe also for comparative reasons.

Khal I just marathoned the Claymore anime (up to ep. 22) and I'm quite satisfied that they stuck close to the manga. I didn't even notice changes. I don't know how they ended it yet though, so I can't say for sure. Did they change it to end the season?

Except Raki's annoying self magnified in the anime. I never thought him to be so noisy in the manga, but when I actually got to hear him whining I wanted to shoot him.

Galth
March 12, 2008, 10:58 AM
Oh well, they made small changes throughout the anime, especially in the first few episodes, but nothing noteworthy (apart from - like you said - making Raki even more detestable than he already was), but yes:

They made their own 'ending' to the series, which is... just plain bad. :amuse

March 12, 2008, 12:56 PM

Depends on the obligations. If you have to wake up at 8, then yes. But, in case you can afford to waste/miss five mornings out of six, that's not a big problem. On the mornings you have to participate, you just overdose on stimulants and head out at Mach 5. ^_^

I've done it for many months now .... and no damages to my looks.

I love to wake up at 10 a.m.
But I can't afford this when i have school. Then, I have to get up at 6.30 a.m.
I love my bed, I should have the right to stay in it longer, even when there's school. Why does the school start at 7.45 a.m.? It should start later and end earlier.

I'm sure you're well aware of this already, but just in case... subs for ZSZS 5 and TRC 3 are out. I won't vouch for the quality of the former, as it was done by [anon], but any subs are better than no subs, ne?

I saw the raw, and will watch Shinsen's sub later (probably tonight), though I'll download Menclave's release (which probably won't be released any time soon) for archiving purposes.

And for the record, they were actually slower in subbing this third episode than they were for the second - shinsen, that is. They're a huge group, and it's probably easy enough for them to find the people that'll dedicate their time to this particular project in order to get it out within twenty-four hours.

Khal, i wonder if you celebrate easter? And what are the easter practices over there?

Nope, I don't.

Well, I don't know what the religious peeps do these days, but for the non-religious families with little kids it's 'hide chocolate eggs in the garden, make 'em look for them and have breakfast with the entire family (as in: it's not normal over here to have breakfast with everyone in the same house at the same time, it's too bothersome, and not everybody wakes up at the same time, especially not for something as silly as breakfast)...' or something like that...?

What are egg fights?

You basically don't break the egg against the hard surface in Easter. Instead, you "battle" with another person. The one having the toughest egg wins. Good event/ritual for breakfast ...... like an egg endurance tournament, where the winner faces a new opponent until everyone has enough broken eggs to eat. ^^

Do Dutch even have any old/pagan Easter rituals? Or only religious ones?

Eggs are pretty much the essence of this thing. Same as beer and cheese for summer solstice(sp?).

And I doubt that's the reason you don't know about such a thing. It seems to be pretty ancient pagan stuff. The ritual has a superstition that the winner will be the healthiest and will live longer than the others.

It's not messy at all. He's just referring to boiled eggs, at the dinnertable. You'd normally break them open on, what, the table, your plate, your brother's head, whatever, but now you open 'em by slamming it into another person's egg and see which one of you gets a cracked surface.

Which series starting this month are you most looking forward to?

Galth
April 02, 2008, 12:28 PM
Well, depending on your definition of 'starting', in no particular order:

Vampire Knight (animation looks quite nice, love the opening song, hoping they'll find a nice way to end the series without straying too far from the manga)
xxxHOLiC ~Kei~ (more Holic is never a bad thing; LOVE the opening song)
Code Geass ~Hangyaku No Lelouch~ R2 (of course!)
To LOVE-Ru (I... have a bad feeling about it though; like it's going to fail big time... but if they do it right, it can be hella amusing)

Hi there, Pim dear. What would you say to me buying a PSP? Yay or nay?

Galth
April 03, 2008, 04:48 PM
Do you even need to ask?

Nay.

If you /really/ want something Sony - and I don't see why you'd want to get any of their consoles - get a PS2. PSP and PS3 are utter b--- *censored in the interested of kid-friendliness*

If you want a handheld, get a DS. Even my most unbiased (which is still highly biased, but meh) view on it tells me that a DS is so highly superior to a PSP that it's not even a race anymore.

I mean, I can 'slightly' understand why somebody would want an XBOX260 or PS3 instead of a Wii (my inner voice is still crying out in shame of those people, but the rational part of my brain - for as far as there's such a thing to begin with - can understand that there's also people with bad taste, who'd rather play FPSs or Racing games), but getting a PSP instead of a DS? No, that's just plain silly.

ibra87
April 03, 2008, 05:01 PM
^ Exactly what he said. The only reason anyone would buy a PSP would be because of FF: Crisis Core, which is just plain win.

LadyHatake

What games do they have for DS?

Gold Knight
April 03, 2008, 05:30 PM
They have FF stuff on DS too. Remakes of FF3 and FF4 and probably more that I'm not aware of... but good stuff from what I've seen. I'm hoping for a remake of FF6 too.

Though PSP is tempting now because FF: Crisis Core looks amazing, I'd probably still get a DS first myself. And the X-Box 360 before PS3, even when FF XIII comes out, simply because there's just more games I want for the former. In the end, 10 years down the line, we'll probably be able to play any of the consoles anyway - they'll be outdated and affordable by then (hopefully!)

LadyHatake
April 03, 2008, 06:37 PM
Yeah, I was thinking about the PSP because a guy in my tech writing class was playing Crisis Core yesterday morning, and it looked fucking awesome. The graphics and stuff were supremely fabulous. But if in the end, DS has more games I'd play, I may just go with that...hm >.> But the PSP have wireless internet....though, if I get the ipod touch, that has wireless too....*considers*

Galth
April 03, 2008, 07:14 PM
But the PSP have wireless internet....

The DS can have that too, you just need to buy it seperately, if you want it (and it'd still be cheaper than a PSP). But I agree, if you buy it for browsing the internet, the PSP's larger screen is probably nice... Never tried that. Either way, it's a game console. If you want to have some handheld internet thingie, don't look at the PSP or the DS, get something specifically made for it, and be a less sad panda.

But well, the DS can play DS games (and there're like... loaaaaaads more games for it than for the PSP) AND all Game Boy Advance games (which is... well... I could spend my entire life playing all of those and only finish half of 'em, methinks). With DS and Advance games combined, you can play FF 1-5, most/all(?) of them remade with modern graphics.

If you want nice DS games:

Advance Wars 3: Dual Strike and Advance Wars 4: Dark Conflict (called differently in america... had some even more corny subtitle...), Hotel Dusk: Room 215, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS (greatest remake ever <3), Bomberman (don't mind the odd art, it's all gameplay, multiplay in particular), Another Code: Two Memories (it's called differently in American... Trace Memory methinks... That doesn't make sense, though), Pokémon Diamond/Pearl (yes, if you can find a more addicting game that gives you more game hours than the pokémon series, gimme a call), and there's the Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center games of course, they may look strange at first, but they're hella fun to play, trust me.

Hmmm, I could go on, but you wouldn't read all of it anyway if I were to write a huge list. :oh

I just wonder if I have a good photo of my brother somewhere so that I can show you my original family (I have my real family, a MH family and an imaginary family, lol). Well, show you a part of it, lol. My lovely brother <3333333 Both, you and my brother are quite tall persons. The photo looks really strange, I wonder why it's yellow. Anyway, we were just about to clean his room because he was moving out. It's already some months old.

I'm not tall though, compared to my kinsmen. :oh

Anyway, time for anime impressions! (Should've posted this yesterday... But whatever, nobody cares anyway, it's just that I want to write about it xD):

xxxHOLiC ~Kei~ : Yes, yes, and yes. Total yes. Utter yes. 'nuff said. edit/ Not 'nuff said, I forgot to stress how great the opening was, and how awesome this season is going to be, if you take a look at the opening and advertisements... all the good stuff from the manga will be coming in the next 25 episodes, whahaha~ *is fanboying over it* And there's colourful mokonas and a mecha moko and a panda moko and whatnot in the ending... reminds me of episode 37 or Tsubasa Chronicle, heh. Epic.

Amatsuki : Surprisingly awesome, great opening, decent animation, blood, Romi Paku, Fukuyama Jun... Wasn't planning to watch it at first, but I definitely will now. Perhaps I should start the manga as well. :oh
Kurenai : Hmmm, odd opening, I'm waiting for subs before deciding whether I'll watch the rest... But I heard the light novels and manga were good... Hmm...

To LOVE-RU : Decent, considering it's genre. Interesting (:drool) opening animation, mediocre music overall, Peke's transformation is done extremely ecchi and somebody should execute his seiyuu, but apart from that, I like it. Even the epiliptic ending, heh.

Allison & SomethingIForgot : Didn't check.

Itazura na Kiss : *still downloading*

Tower of Druaga : It's Gonzo, so I didn't plan on watching it on principle, but apparently Trix likes it... I 'll want a few episodes and then ask around if it's worth my time. >_>

xxxHOLiC ~Kei~ will be subbed by: Mishicorp, Shinsen-subs, Anime Club Generation.
To LOVE-Ru will be subbed by: SinSubs, Serin, AnimeYoshi, Ayako (?)
Kurenai will be subbed by: TweakAnime, Nisemono
Amatsuki will be subbed by: Ureshii-AnimeYoshi, Hitode-Strawberry Mint Subs

My true intentions? Indeed, these are my true intentions. Discussions about Lulu between me and my Malaysian friend Mandy should be rated 18+. Maybe just 16+ because we just wanna rip his shirt off, that's all.
The main points of our weekly discussions are how sexy and hot Lulu is, why he would be a good vampire, how badly we wanna rip his shirt off and see him naked, why he is our perfect emperor and his awesomely evil laughter.

:amuse ..... Tell me! How should I interpret this act?

a) Result of brainwashing through constant marketing.
Symptoms: You actually go to the designated distribution locations or have a desire to visit one, once you get the chance. The condition includes favoritism and can be in a minor form.

b) Seeing the advertising as an amusing extra.
Symptoms: You give in to viral marketing. Condition includes common ignorance towards the intentions Pizza Hut have, doing this thing. Pizza Hut advertising has become almost a beloved character of the series in ones mind.

c) Latent desire to uncover the subliminal advertising to the masses.
Symptoms: You think, the producers are using a dirty trick or you are aware that others might have missed it. Thus, one pin-points the issue.

...... OK .... I know it's mostly B. But how much of A is there?
Have you actually observed any out-of-the-ordinary craving for a pizza?
Or attended them in person? >_>

Galth

There're no Pizza Huts near where I live. I know they have a few of them in most larger dutch cities, but I don't know any of 'em. And from my experience with Pizza Huts, I wouldn't want to eat there... They suck.

It's mostly a kind of hmm... Random amusement at the so obvious and so horrible way of sponsorbitching (like when Gen got his breakfast in a McDonalds in the Kekkaishi anime... >_>;;;;;) that it...

Well, 'it's so uncool that it becomes cool', y'know? Also, anything remotely related to CC is automatically awesome through the powers of fanboyism.

Well, I just find it amusing, and therefore want to join it. Just like anything featured in Lucky Star automatically becomes 'awesome' in my mind (like... choco cornets!!), even if I know damn well that it doesn't make sense, and there's no reason for me to decide to like something I havn't actually encountered in my life yet, the amusement value and the connection to a different entity that I like makes it fun.

That didn't make sense, now did it? As in... You're Lord Predzel, so you know what I meant, but it was damn chaotically written, heh. xD

Kaaru-sama no Ameizingu Anime Riisuto! ~Spring '08 Edition~
The list only includes the RAWs and subs I've checked out so far, from the series that've newly started. I'm watching the green and orange series, not planning on watching the red ones for now, but experience has shown that I usually pick one or two of them up as well, after a few weeks.

Code Geass ~Hangyaku no Lelouch~ R2 (living up to the expectations so far)
Vampire Knight (another one that was rightly hyped)
xxxHOLiC ~Kei~ (green colour is based on the opening song and the stories they'll be animating this season, I'll admit that the first episode wasn't 'that' spectacular)
Soul Eater (the pleasant surprise of the week, amazing opening and ending, awesome animation, kudos to studio bones)
Nabari no Ou (looking sharp)
Kanokon (no, the green colour is not a mistake)
Amatsuki (looks interesting, nice opening song)
Kamen no Maid Guy (whahahaha~ hilarious, instant win, awesome ending, etc)
S.A. ~Special A~ (expected better, but good nonetheless)
Allison & Lillia (I've no idea how this series will develop...)
Itazura na Kiss (Now here's what I call a nice first episode, though the artstyle still bothers me a bit...)
ToLOVE-Ru ~Trouble~ (better than expected, had been looking forward to this, almost rated this green)
Kurenai (another one of those 'we'll see how it goes' series)
Chi's Sweet Home (yes, I will watch the cute fluffy kitty with the big eyes being randomly cute <3)
Druaga no To ~The Aegis of Uruk~ (a few good laughs, but nothing special, and I'm still mad at Gonzo for what they did to Rosario + Vampire...)
Blassreiter (insane and odd animation style, if I liked motors, I'd probably watch it... and now Gonzo is gonna produce a second Rosario + Vampire season in october, which makes me hate 'em even more, so... meh)
Zettai Karen Children (...)
Wagaya no Oinari-sama (this is the most likely suspect if I were to pick up more series, though)

(list not fully finished, but I'm gonna hit the sack now and catch me some Zs, so I'll just press enter)
[hr]

What if the anime would become legal for fansubs, but jam-packed with advertising?
(not as bad as "The Truman Show", but still ...)
Would you think it's better or worse?

I don't really care much about whether it's legal or not, there're already enough ways for me to get my anime with it being illegal.

But too much advertising kills a show. It's only funny because ads like this (as in, wide open, reaaaally obvious) aren't that common in /every/ show. Geass got famous with it's blatant Pizza Hut ads, but in most shows the in-episode ads (if there're any at all) are much more subtle and less annoying.

The one who has more Exp.Points doesn't fall for lower points tricks, while being able to come up with tricks that will work on people that have points yet lower than his.

You can't 'reboot' the internet, that's not how it works. You can't reboot a teddy bear either, if someone were to say that to me, it'd sound just as silly.

On second thought, rebooting the internet WOULD technically be possible... But you'd need either Chuck Norris for that, or you'd need to devide the internet by zero, which is highly dangerous.

On second thought, rebooting the internet WOULD technically be possible... But you'd need either Chuck Norris for that, or you'd need to devide the internet by zero, which is highly dangerous.

well not really reboot. I dunno how it was explained to me, i don't totally get it myself, kinda like, wipe the slate clean and redo everything. It's just that my first reaction when my friend told me that was "Where would all the scans go???" -_-

Do you like sun-bathing, nii-chan?
Speaking of summer here..... or hot days.

And that would make you feel a lot more comfortable? What if it's REALLY hot, like 39 degrees C or something? And what clothes would you wear for that kind of weather? (like, you, in particular)

Galth

39 degrees hasn't been registered in the Netherlands in the past eightthousand years, methinks...

Nii-chan, are there really as many windmills as I imagine to be in the Netherlands?

Galth

Nope.

Pity, I love windmills *begins to whistle the windmills song from zelda - ocarina of time*

Are you referring to historical windmills or modern ones?

Schwindelmagier
April 12, 2008, 12:54 PM
Historical ones of course because they are way more beautiful.

Galth
April 12, 2008, 12:55 PM
We've one of those in Delft... but it's out of order and the interior is used as a shop nowadays. It's cute, sure, but I don't like it enough to stop walking to look at it or whatever. =/

That would be the only historical windmill that I know of, here in the netherlands.

As for the modern windmills... you see a row of those ugly shiny white things here and there, usually parallel to a highway that crosses the country-side or whatever... But personally, I don't see them all that often, since I live in the Edge City (as I've seen the word Randstad been translated as a few times), so I don't see 'em all that often.

Though, you're free to visit any time you want and go windmill-hunting. :oh

A shop inside a windmill? Sounds interesting, kind of like in fantasy games. A magical shop inside a windmill <3

Khal-kun, i always wondered. Is Amsterdam the only town with a "Rosse Buurt" area? Or is their red-light districts in most major cities?

Just out of curiosity ._.

Galth
April 12, 2008, 04:05 PM
There is one in (almost?) every large city on the planet we call Earth.

Also, saying "Rosse Buurt" Area is saying the same thing twice, since "buurt" already means 'neighbourhood.'

Prostitution is legal in several countries, by the way, not just the Netherlands: Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand... Even in some american states, like Nevada. The only difference between these countries and others is that prostitution is regulated. It's a proffession that exists all over the world, in every country, whether it's legal or not. We just have set rules for it, and brothels require a license, and stuff like that, bla bla. Just because it's legal here didn't cause it to be more common than in other countries. (Actually, if you go to those parts of Amsterdam, you'd only see tourists, heh heh :rofl).

Just so you don't jump to conclusions, lol.

I did, however, change your sig. I loved how you initially blamed bax for it. :kukuku

Oh, I would've blamed Hiswoman for it anyway, it's very him-ish to do such a thing. (But of course, I'd still have checked the edits to the first post. >_>)

You did that? That was a very un-you-ish thing to do then... o_O

But I guess that means you got rickrolled as well, so yeah. HAH! :p

And well, I guess Hiswoman is just jealous that my thread is so much more popular than hers. :amuse
