”ゴワス” ？？？

hi, this is from "Zombie Romanticism"

The girl is finally meeting with her father, who became a zombie in a government program a little while ago. He's not supposed to "exist" really, at least with his former identity, so he tries to trick her...

anyway, the part I'm confused about is in the middle bottom panel, where he says:

いや　だからね　お。。。　僕は君のお父さんなんかじゃないでゴワスですぞ！？
Oh, well, you see... I-I'm not your father or anything like that, I'm Gowasu!?

I don't know what this could mean, I looked on wiki, several dictionaries... I have no idea.

I would guess it's just "de aru" in some dialect. Basically, sounds close to "de gozaimasu", doesn't it? So you can safely ignore this part of the sentence. Well, let's see if someone provides a more authoritative answer.

In this case, just you can ignore "Gowashu".

So, the translation would be,
"Oh, well, you see... I-I'm not your father or anything like that !?"

"Gowashu" is a kind of dialect or old way to say, "です desu or ますmasu".

です and ます are be verbs.

Just like mentioned by other post, it is a dialect for ございます/GOZAIMASU - the polite form for であります/de arimasu. That ゴワス　adds a little politeness to the speech.

Yeah, as mikkih-san mentioned, it would add some politeness originally.
It was a Kagoshima dialect long ago, but nowadays the people don't use so much.

In this case, ゴワス shows that the daddy is in a slight panic, that's way he can not help stopping using the funny word.

I think ゴワス is famous for having been used by Takamori Saigou, famous politician in the history.
