Marco the Phoenix vs Ben Beckman

Personally I think Ben Beckman comes out on top. Oda has already commented on his intellect, and i'm guessing his ability can match it given Kizaru's reaction to him. He also has the official title of first mate unlike Marco

Although I agree that the whitebeard pirates are (or rather were) the strongest pirate crew in one piece. I still say Shanks had the better second in command

Well, it is a hard one given that haki alone is not enough to hurt marco.... considering his ability, he should be capable of healing wounds even if they were caused by haki imbued weapons. Not sure about this.

Ben has no feats so far, beside his gun and his postion as a high tier. Because of that this fight/question is not fair. But as for now I have to go with Marco.

Anyway, I refuse to vote till we have more information xD

I went with Marco, simply because he seems the best suited to take charge of what remains of the Whitebeard Pirates, and the Garousei acknowledged him as someone who might be able to take on Teach.

too little iformation we get about ben beckman, and we don't have any information about his fighting style, DF user or not, so i choose not to vote for this fight

It is an interesting match-up, but (as others have said already) we have seen little and less of Ben Beckman so it's quite hard to gauge his strength in comparison to Marco. ^I like Beckman more... but I wont wote until we have seen Beckman in real action.

Marco doesn't utilize a defense which an Haki-user can penetrate (i.e. Whitebeard falcon punching Akainu), but uses healing granted by his Phoenix fruit to heal injuries. Which Haki should have no effect over as they can't negate a Devil Fruit like Yami Yami (instead Haki seems to bypass a Devil Fruit's properties).

Well, Garp very likely (definitely) punched Marco - who was turned into Phoenix - with Haki, which injured Marco's face. Later during the Marineford arc, the injurie is not visible anymore. So I guess - and it makes sense - that Marco can heal Haki injuries.

I think defeating marco is more of a stamina fight than anything else... As shown by kizaru, marco can be hurt but even if he is not hurt in phoenix form he can still heal later on. In that sense, the best option would seem to be to fight while hurting him enough to drain his stamina.

Please do not forget that the poll is not about the stronger of them but the best second in command. Until now, it has not even been said that being stronger makes you a better commander.

According to Oda, Ben Beckmann was the cleaver character of the East Blue saga. So since I believe he is like Marco a good leader - after all he is a Vice-Captain of a Yonkou - it'd give him an advantage and I have to vote for him.

I'd have to lean towards beckham about the who is the best second in command thing. He seems smarter and more cold headed than marco so I'd lean towards him being the better decision maker.
