Well whenever I'm asked that question I have to qualify it by saying there are two answers. Favorite to watch and Favorite to play. It's tough to get definite, unequivocal answers for both of those questions...

To watch - American Football (TV), Baseball (In person)

American Football is just better on TV than in person. There's the element that it's played outdoors in the Fall/Winter and it's just easier to see the entire game on television. Baseball is a summertime event...go to the game with your friends, drink/eat overpriced beer/food, heckle the Umpires and opposing team by screaming hilarious things at them at the top of your lungs. Baseball isn't as special either since it's on TV nearly every day in the Summer so it can be redundant, especially when your team is an embarrassment like mine (Baltimore Orioles) :fail . I long for winning Baseball to watch here, like a prisoner wishes to be under free sky!!!! :arf

To play - Baseball

I played Baseball, Football, Soccer for Recreation leagues when I was younger. There are some games which are fun to play, even though they aren't the common sports, like dodgeball or kickball (baseball with your feet instead of a bat). Baseball was just my favorite. It was my dad's sport, he taught me. He put me in a teeball league, realized I was too good for it and pulled me out. When I was younger I was big and stronger than most kids so I could hit the crap out of the ball, play pretty much anywhere on the field. I enjoyed playing Catcher a lot though, and it's one of my life's regrets that I didn't stick at it.

I'm a homer, so I really can only root in earnest for a home team. MLS is meh and I don't like rooting for DC teams in general, but I support DC United by default I guess.

As far as European leagues/clubs...I just like to watch the best players, which in turn means I like watching the best teams - Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City, Man U, NC United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal (not huge into Serie A really). I also pull for Everton because Tim Howard is the GK and Fulham since Clint Dempsey plays for them, even though both of those clubs suck.

Can't say I support any of those teams though. I do like watching Barcelona and Real Madrid a lot since I'm a fan of the play of Messi and Sergio Ramos.

Just liken my leanings in Club Soccer to the way Koen roots for the LA Lakers in the NBA...no home team, so I'll just pick the best team to support :cookiehand

Sergio Ramos is indeed an amazing player, I really do enjoy his style and football intellect. Have you seen any of Real's latest games? Ramos has had to play as a central defender lately due to injuries in the squad, and he's doing it in a remarkable fashion even though he's actually a right back. It's a testament to his skill level to be able to handle a position that isn't his favorite that easily. I dare even say Real almost looks better when he plays as a central defender since he's such an awesome defender, never loses his head and is such a smart footballer. The guy is just pure awesome.

Have you taken a liking to Coentrão? I think he will only get better and better in Madrid. Other than that my favorite in Madrid is Kaka.

Yeah, I really began to take notice of Ramos' play last World Cup. I'm all for being a team player, but moving him to Center Back is like caging a bird! :gwah I like watching Fullbacks a lot because it's where I played the most as a kid, though as a kid you can be more liberal with your positioning if your team is good enough, hence me playing Wingback when needed as well. But I also played GK, Central Mid, and Center Back. I think they always put the slower players on defense :rofl

Yeah, I've seen him on the pitch here and there. I remember the talk of his transfer before this season and people seemed to think he was a definite upgrade.
