So in my group of friends i am the only one that likes One Piece and i tell my friends about from time to time and i was telling them about people and devil fruits and there can only be one person with the fruits powers until they die. i told them everything and then they asked me if these are fruits and fruits are suppose to have seeds then why can you get seeds from the devil Fruits and just regrow and mass produce them. imagine having a garden full of Gura Gura no mis
So me and my friends kept talking and i told them that i would start a thread about it and tell them the results so what do you guys think if devil fruits and in fact fruits why cant people grow them

My guess would be the fruits themselves dont have seeds but in order to truly answer this i think we would need to know how they grow in the first place.

There's only 1 of each devil fruit in the OP world, and I'd assume that they don't have seeds because when the person who has the devil fruit dies, that's when the devil fruit starts growing somewhere else. I'm not specifically sure where I heard this, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
Now, you might say that because of this, as soon as WB died, BB shouldn't of been able to get the Gura Gura fruit, but here's how I think it works.
When a person who had a Devil Fruit dies, I think that once they decompose, they're where the new fruit will pop out from. So basically, the person who eats the devil fruit becomes the seed.

Clearly an expert in biology.
Did you know that strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries all are not actual berries? Did you know that in French a potato is known as a "pomme de terre," or "apple of the earth," despite it not actually being an apple? It is possible that DFs are not actual fruits but something else. We don't even know enough about them to determine that they are, in fact, a reproductive organ.

The only place where Oda has touched on this is in Romance Dawn..
(If you don't know what that is... go read Naruto.. :p J/K)

Supposedly there is an Illusion Tree that Grows DF at most once every 50 years.. So somewhere there is a tree that grows DF.. (Maybe a different tree for each DF..?? Dunno??) But either way the tree only bears fruit once each 50 years.... so I guess farming them is out of the picture...
Apparently Vegapunk has learned the mysteries of the DF.. and when we meet him will likely learn a ton more about how Df's work, are grown and whatnot.

Perhaps if the fruit is planted, the resulting tree/bush/shrub/root/etc will only bear one fruit before dying, and is thus a cycle.
Ooooorrrrrr, it's only a fruit by name as undertoe suggested based on the outwards appearance of Devil Fruits and they are not indeed grown or seeds.
Considering the only forms of obtaining a fruit we've thus far seen have been by taking it out of a box handed to someone by someone, we're far from understanding the true nature of the Devil Fruit. Chopper's DF flashback is the only non-box devil fruit eating we've seen, and it was a whole lot of nothng.

Well if we are going too look at the origins and how the "fruits" came to be, we really dont have enough info really, but i guess we just have to think up good ideas untill dr. punk gets some screen time, shit, we dont even know what he looks like. Il bet ether one of my nuts that he got an DF. IQ fruit maby, hehe, but offtopic.
What we know is that they are supposedly just parts of what was once a demon that got slain and the fruits is what he left behind, probably hence the devil fruits name? But all we can do is speculate really.

I may be going off the deep end on this one, but if I was to consider the nature of devil fruits the main things I would consider are:
1st, they are closely related to the sea... and it just happens that the One Piece world is mostly submerged. Whether if this was always the case or not will probably have a lot to do with where devil fruits 1st came from.
2nd, the one quality that all devil fruits share is that the one who ate it will have their energy drained while they are also submerged. On a related note, another question that might be relevant is where seastone/seaprism/kairoseki comes from since they seem to be just as rare as devil fruits. Interestingly enough, seastone also has a quality that it shares with poneglyphs (they can't be destroyed but can be carved into shapes)
3rd, Devil fruits can affect objects as well as people, so its not strictly a matter of "eating" but some kind of transfer in ability where the ability is encapsulated in the fruit.
I guess, the real mystery is "how exactly is an ability encapsulated in a fruit that grows in a tree?" Answering this will probably also have a lot to do with why they only grow once every 50 or so years and why only one fruit of one kind can exist at any one time. But knowing Oda, he will have an elaborate explanation that sounds very much believable as we get closer to the end of the Grand Line the same way he made it believable to have an island exist in the sky.

yep i'm also sure that we will learn more about DF when we meet vegapunk after all the guy even found a way do make objects eat a DF so he must know a lot about them....if the tree makes fruits once 50 years then it is possible that there will be another gomu gomu no mi since luffy had the fruit when he was little so if he lives through this 50 years then there will be 2 of this DF ??? or the tree will make just the fruits that don't exist yet...uff this sure rises a lot of questions :amuse

I don't think DF grow from a tree, if it was the case, then the WG will just protect the tree, and always pick the DFs and give them to their best fighters and have a monopoly over it and a big army of DF users. I think that they appear randomly at different places, or something like that.

I believe the roots - be it a tree or w/e - are in Raftel. That Island will solve a lot of OP mysteries. I also think that the island is surrounded by the All blue, which water is the reason for the growth of DF.
