Excuse me, I have a question about One Piece 115... the episode where Usopp gets his skull bashed in. Usopp and Chopper are fighting Mr. 4 and the Molewoman, and Usopp gets blown up and flung through a wall 3 times, then takes a 4-ton bat to the face and his skull shatters, and yet after all that he still stands up and continues the fight. When this happened I could not believe it because it was so human and disgusting and I was enraged, because how could this ever happen? How could someone even allow such an inhuman thing to happen and then pass it off as a credible narrative. I think that this ruins the quality of the anime and things like this should never happen. Please discuss other times where anime characters have taken an inhuman amount of damage and still won the fight because they were the "good guys".

Seriously, this is what manga is about. Most of the times, heroes get some unbelievable injury, and then by some kind of miracle, they still manage to fight. Like Bleach, Berserk... You better get used to it.
Zoro for example, fighting Hacchi while his wound is still opened, Luffy too has taken some insane damage.
There's even worse, in some mangas, where a character lose an arm, and still fights, or get burn, and still fight... If mangaka really respect reality, there wouldn't be any fights anyway.

One Piece is a shounen manga like Dragon Ball, Bleach, Naruto, FMA, etc., get over it. And it's not like there weren't any other comics in the world, or movies or TV shows in which the good guys take inhuman damage and still win over the enemy.
And judging from your former posts you're supposed to be a Naruto fan, eh? How the hell did those protagonists survive their fights?

don't take a fantasy anime too seriously... ^^"

It's willpower and the power of resolve.
Ha, losing a head or two count as nothing in the manga when you got so much resolve or when you're protecting something.
At least in shounen.

I have to agree with zeltrax225.
And since you mentioned Usopp (being him one of the weakest members) and the fact that I just read again those chapter, I remember it clearly that the molewoman said that Luffy was dead, then Usopp replied saying that he won't die because he is the one who will be the Pirate King, and because of that, she started to tell inumerous things to him, just mocking his captain and his crew to believe in such a thing.
So, now come the interesting part, Usopp said to Chopper that even if he die, or even if he is afraid to the core, that are times when a men cannot run. And so, this occasion qualifies as such, he pull all the willpower that he manage to and defeat the bad guys.
If this isn't enough for you, you can always stop reading!

Please no, in non-filler Naruto fights the main characters never took that kind of insane damage... in Dragonball as far as I remember nothing like that happened either. Bleach also remains in the realm of believability, because they have a fantasy energy called "reiatsu" which protects them from damage.
But this One Piece stuff takes it to the next level... I mean come on, to literally draw the character's skull being shattered and then have him continue fighting and survive - isn't that taking it too far? Isn't there a point where we have to put our feet down and just say come on, that's just disgusting and disrespectful to the human form?

You are missing one minor detail: One Piece does not take place on Earth. At least the earth does not have a Red Line and a Grand Line yet :tem I also don't think Varth can exist on Island Clouds no matter how dense the cloud is (on Earth anyways). The story doesn't have to be brutally believable, as long as you get at least some entertainment out of it. Gandalf died in Lord of the Rings but I don't think anybody complained that him coming back to life ruined the believability of the story.
The point im trying to make is that One Piece is not non-fiction, and therefore does not have to adhere to reality. On the other hand, you could say that Usopp's survival after that incident says a lot about Chopper's medical skills! :D
As far as surviving inhuman amounts of damage in One Piece....hmm....I remembered King Cobra carrying Luffy out of the tomb on his back using his arms after having his elbows nailed to the wall earlier....I found that kinda weird (and unbelievable i guess?). Also I have a hard time figuring out how Franky replaced parts of his body as a cyborg after the accident with the Puffing Tom....how could he do that if his body was in pieces? And however did he replace both arms? taking turns? :eyeroll
