Okay guys, first, we have to understand that this isn't a teen drama- it's a manga, and it's as much as it's for kids as teens. Hoshino will pull off the stereotypical sometimes, so deal. That's what mangas, and especially shounen mangas, will do. However, am I the only one here who thinks that this Earl/14th plot is a brilliant idea? It clearly gives us the swerve off a typical Bleach plot and if done right, will give us a great chance to explore the Noahs and their mysteries. Think of it as that nice Cylon season from BSG where we actually humanize our villains and make them feel real and add depth to their personality instead of making them the one sided villains that I hate. :D

It's obvious why the Earl wants Allen to leave the Order himself: for a long time break. Wuy f0rce a guy so goodhearted and devoted to the family to join the Noahs? Without any substantial blackmail? The Earl is more clever than that- sure, he could take Allen at any time and destroy the Order, but he wanted the satisfaction and the guarantee of Allen being distraught at the Order's true colors and well, hate humans forever. Or something along those lines, at least.

I'd really hate for Allen to stay with the Order at this point. Not afte so much buildup to whether he'll leave or not. And it would only prove that our hero is stereotypical and naive and full of good and all the crap. Nah, I like my plot twists. Bring it on, Hoshino!

We don't know much yet, except for that the 14th seems kinda gray. On one hand, he helped Cross and vice versa and nearly killed the Earl, but on the other hand he doesn't seem to care about the Order either. It seems like the 14th is willing to do anything, even come to terms with Exorcists to become the next Earl. Or even that may be a lie, or not the whole truth.

It may be to show that Allen will not go along with whatever the Earl wants. I don't think Allen would ever trust the Earl, and for a good reason. The way he reacted when Tyki told him to just come along makes it obvious that he really doesn't want to go with the Earl. It makes sense that he choses a different path than what the Earl was hoping for.

Of course, Allen may not be able to save Alma and would have to go with the Earl. I don't see how he can save him, but I guess we'll just have to see. I admit, it would be interesting if Allen did go with the Earl and we can get more information about the Noahs.

I don't think Allen would necessarily trust the Earl, but he's certainly under emotional and physical pressure to submit easily to threats. Or at least, the 14 would tell him to join the Earl and he would listen. Hence, the 'forcing' part. Also, I really don't know what to make of the reaction- the translation was a 'Tsk!' but is that a yes or a no? He seemed to give off the 'Aw, shuddup' or a 'Whatever' feeling.

We do not know a lot of things. What if the earl originaly was a (good) job. As in watch over humans. Look at the original ark it was white and pretty. The new one is dark. Also the earl has the same dark stuff everywhere yet the original ark has this peacefull good look.

So long as we dont know the real deal about the earl we cant say the 14ths intentions are good or bad.

If he wants the position for good as to undo the damage and be a good earl its ok. But if he merely wants the power for himself its not good.

Hmm.. what if Earl was originally an innocent (no pun intended) guy who became evil only after the 14th had done something terrible to him... Poor Earl suffered post-traumatic trauma and started to make the akuma as a result. They say that the 14th tried to kill Earl, but we don't know when and why. Maybe Earl got into his destroy-humanity frenzy only after the 14th attempted to bump him off?

So may possibilities, I'm just chasing my own tail :D

Not like an "innocent" guy, i should say. But: the good guy? Maybe!
The Earl is always acting as if he is the Good, God the Evil and the Order... well the Order are pure evil.
On the other hand: the good guys, the exorcists (Allen, Lenalee, Chaoji & Co.), live their lifes without knowing anything real about the order real intentions or experiments (till now)
So all this thing is very shady... very Gray :D

AGH!!!so many possibilities!!!maybe the entire noah clan was good but because they thought they were better than all the other humans because they were chosen by god they could do what ever they want and rule the world which made them evil.but the 14th didn't go with that plan so he turned against the noah to help the humans?idk to many questions not enough answers!

If Allen joins the Earl I don't think that he'll go along with whatever the Earl wants. He'll probably find some way to escape. I also don't think Allen will listen to the 14th, at first at least. He sees the 14th as a bad guy who wants to take over, and Allen doesn't trust him. He doesn't realize that the 14th is not "evil."

Anyway, I agree wholeheartedly with Allen's solution to this problem and a part of me wants him to win. I like Alma and I want to see him saved. I'm also curious on how Allen will try to save him. But a part of me wants him to lose and join the Earl. :p

He may not be able to save Alma entirely. When he tried to save Suman, he couldn't prevent his death, nor could he prevent the Innocence to stop its destruction. Actually, I'm not sure Allen saved Suman.

Well, I think Allen will be able to save Alma to a certain extent- make him realize his wrongdoing and attempt to stop the Earl from destructing the other Thirds, but I am pretty sure Alma will die. There's no way the Order will keep him alive, nor the Earl. In that term, Allen will be able to save Alma's sanity, but I think Alma, understanding he's a power out of control, will ask Kanda to kill him, but forgives him at teh same time. :D

As for Allen and the Earl, I don't think Allen will full heartedly just skip onto the bandwagon, but I would like for him to understand that the Order is not what he thought it would be, and be coerced to a point where he realizes that he can't save anyone by being in the Order as of right now.

I think Allen understands that the Order isn't all sunshine and roses. I just think he believes the Order is where he needs to be in order to save Akuma. But he also has friends in the Order, and I don't think he wants to leave them. He sees the Order as his home, even if it is not perfect.

Although I love the dynamics of the Order, I agree that Allen will not grow if he stays. I also don't think he is meant to be with the Earl either. He should be on the third side, which is where I believe Cross is with. But I think in order to really understand the third side, he needs to understand the Noah and their intentions. But I guess we'll see where Hoshino goes with this.

I think your forgetting 2 things

1 Allen made a promise to Mana and he intends to keep it. (keep on going)
2 Allen made a deal with his innocence and that he intends to keep as well. (defend both human and Akuma/human souls)

So where does that leave the noah and the Order? ...ill tell ya...nowhere.

The only reason Allen stays with the order is his friends, Lenalee,Lavi,Kanda,Johnny etc. So there is no relation between Allen and the Order. If he would be failing his promisses he will abandon the Order to achieve his goal.

Why Skin Boric didn't reincarnate?????
At first, I thought that Hoshino did that so that Alma would later turn into Skin Boric... Alma also started sying "I can't forgive".
Then I thought that Kanda might be the one who would turn into Skin Boric after all, since he started to say "destroy" again and again, like an idiot.
What do you guys think???

He has, or will soon. In the Akamaru Jump chapter (was it 187?), the Earl mentioned going to look for Skinn's reincarnation. Though it kinda feels like this arc has been going on forever (almost a year since then), it's been like a few hours plot-wise since he said that so once this is done, we'll probably see the new Skinn...

On the other hand: the good guys, the exorcists (Allen, Lenalee, Chaoji & Co.), live their lifes without knowing anything real about the order real intentions or experiments (till now)

because I am silly, I want to mention that Lenalee shouldn't be on this list because she DID know about experiments, and has since she was a little girl. And she was kidnapped to be taken to the Order, so she "joined" with a very different perspective than the characters that have joined since the manga began. But... yeah.

Allen joining up with Cross? Well, Cross is dead... so that might be difficult. =P If he's not? I don't know about that. Maybe if Cross wanted to help Allen himself, but I can't really see Allen supporting the 14th, either... not when the 14th wants to be the Earl... and is trying to take over his mind...

Last time, when Hoshino brought the situation to the limit, it was Cross who saved all. Who will be this time? :)

But as you say, Allen may join a third side, but I'd really like him to join the Noahs right now because they're freaking AWESOME and I'd love a shady villain family doing it's little antics with Allen :D . We don't know anything about them, as well as the secret behind the Akuma and their evolution, and I think Allen's 'joining' would be the perfect opportunity for us to get some answers. I think Hoshino made it clear that we don't know where the heck Cross is, and if he's alive, he's certainly in a bad shape, without his Innocence. Allen deciding to join such a person in such circumstances seems a bit odd to me.

Does it mean that he will? I don't know, because as many people have stated here, not only is Allen's behaviour irregular, but sometimes, irrational and thus extremely hard to predict. It's not a bad thing, since Allen follows his instincts and his heart, but think about it this way: With the new information revealed about the 14th's true motives (killing the Earl to become the new Earl) what would the Order do about that? It's obvious Leverrier (sp?) wouldn't like that one bit. He'd either lock up Allen/experiment on him/kill him. And as Cross explicitly stated, when Allen fully transformed into the 14th, he would kill all those he loved. Obviously, the Order is not a safe environment for Allen to live in any longer. And with the Order's shady methods of trying to win this war, I'm not even sure Allen would be comfortable working with such an organization...

But Allen's devoted to his friends. So how can he save them, if he's bound to destroy them eventually? A lot of 'I'm Allen Walker and blah blah I can save myself from being taken over' obviously came to nothing as the 14th took over Allen as necessary. It's obvious that Allen is no longer in full control of his own self and being. He's vulnerable to others and himself. And running off to 'Cross', wherever he is (if he's still alive) doesn't seem like a great idea either, in his condition. I really see that Allen's only wise choice is to stay with the Noahs and learn more about them and the war along with control the 14th's awakening. But like I said, Allen's hard to predict, so...we'll have to wait and find out. I don't think we'll find out in the next chapter, but maybe after that, yeah. *sighs*

Also, going back to Tovak's dream scene, we see Allen kill Tokusa and the other Thirds, and then he's killed by Tovak? I see the first part happening, but what about the second part? Hmmm...

Hoshino has already kept one fact in order: it's been a lag since the last time all the Noahs reincarnated. Skin Bolic had reincarnated for 'this generation' so yeah, it shouldn't take long, but it's not like as soon as one Noah dies, he pops back up in a day or so back to normal. I'm sure there's a time span where we have to wait. I'm also sure that by leaving one Noah behind, Hoshino can delay the ultra battle of the Three Days of Darkness to come, as the Noahs and the Earl need all their members to fight the Order/Exorcists one last time. :D

This is probably repetition, but i keep on going through these halfcrack half plausible theories that was the reason for the Noah in-fight
Um, well the Earl is currently evil - attempting to be good(ish, he does evil deeds with a twisted sense of rightfulness), but what if that good(ish) part is from the 14th rubbing off on him? someone mentioned the old ark is white and beautiful while the Earl's ark is dark and morbid (not that we have seen the inside yet, only the Earl's piano room..), well what if, as reincarnated Noah of whatever, the 14th brought his own....uh, style? to the ark, and forced/begged/complained and made the Earl make everything...nicer?looking. and the Earl liked that new style (personality, that doesn't involve ripping bodies apart) and got attached. so that to me explains why the earl would be so good in an evil way - he doesn't know how to be good, he needs the 14th to show him how it is done...
but, this theory does not define the reason for their fight.

Hmm...Hoshino is going to have to go into all this magic bussiness and such - seeing as Bak, Zhu, Crows and Cross all have magic abilities for an unidentified reason.

It would be fitting for Allen to find a third side - but he'll probably have to form it himself. Cross is the only one in the game from that side, and he's currently MIA, so allen will have to figure this out on his own.
BUT!
seeing as allen and sane!Alma (heck, maybe even Kanda) will probably be in the same boat (disliking order, disliking noah), i think it would be fitting if they broke off to create/reestablish the 3rd side.
Heck, i think it would be a smart idea for the exorcists to break off and form their own gang. with Allen's/14th's ark, they won't be loosing much if they break off, and it's not like central will be able to blame anyone in the order, not even komui.

Yeah, everyone does keep talking about a third side, and while I see a possibility of it happening, knowing that Allen's usually the one to find a third side, I can't imagine what that third side is. Cross isn't going to happen, and frankly, I see Alma dying within a chapter or two, trying to save what he did wrong. Yeah, sure, Allen's buds would chase after Allen to help, but think about it: Do you really think the Order and especially the Earl/Noahs are going to leave Allen alone? I didn't think so. Both organizations will use whatever it takes to bring Allen to their side, even if it means sacrifices on either side and force.

I just really want Allen to go with the Noahs, not only because it'd be a really cool twist on regular shounen plots, but also because it seems logically the only choice for him to decide (see my rational explanation of the situation above). WHY ISN'T IT AUGUST YET ARGHHH

well, Allen going with Noah would be an incredible plot twist, but i feel like the circumstances around this would have to be a little bit extreme to get him to accept the Earl's offer. Neither the 14th nor Allen like the Earl, i feel like the Earl would have to hold more than 10 people hostage to get him to agree...
On that note...Alma dying/self sacrificing may be a little cliche....we've already had suman die for a similar reason. to me it feels like Alma WILL die, just not...now, or not in this ark at least =/

Nah the noah seem to randomly reincarnate in a human so technicaly anyone could become noah. But so far seen all the noah are people who havnt had much luck in life. Tyki a drifting miner,Skin a poor dockworker, Wisely a homeless guy.

I hope the new Wrath will be female just to get more gender balance. + we havnt seen a female with real fury yet ^^. True both Lenalee and Lulubell are extreme dedicated to their cause but i would like to see a mental kick ass female now lol.

Also a noah on the side of Allen hmm, since the latest development its become more slim for the so called 3rd side. If any noah would join him it be either Tyki Road or both of them. But since Allen 50/50 thinks about going along with m to save his friends it seems that its unlikely anyone of the noah side would even join him. And as i said i think its unlikely a known character like Kanda would become noah.

What could happen is realy unclear now. I dont see how Allen can win this. Stopping Kanda might be possible but then you got Alma and at least Tokusa near him. Also Tyki seems to want to have some fun and Fo is no match for him. (she couldnt even beat a lvl3). Non of the other characters have any real fighting power. Also closeby are Link and Tevak so she might join the show as well. And not to forget Mercym and Madarao.

I think its pretty much hopeless unless Allen gets outside help from either a allied noah or someone else from the 3rd side.

Alma is an akuma cause he got dark matter inside him. His hate only fuels for more power but it still dont change the fact he will be a akuma cause of dark matter.

Forgiving Kanda hmm i dunno if thats even apropriate since Alma attacked Kanda first and not the other way around. Kanda merely decided to fight back and get to that person ( we still dont know who that is).

Yes, but if Alma calms down, he will be able to control the dark matter? Or not? I don't know. I mean, the monster Tokusa will no longer scream I HATE YOUUUUUU so there's no problem, right?

What happens if timothy posseses the thirds? The dark matter might be stroyed without hurting them!

Good point about the soul.

There are different possibilities.

1: Allen simply didnt use his eye yet.
2: Since Alma is cloned or something he is not human (then neither Kanda is). So they are merely clones and soulless.
3: Alma and Kanda are human in every way and the soul is still inside their bodies so it wont show like with a created akuma like the earls does.
4: (combination of 1+2)
5: (combination of 1+3)

Wellll.... I DO hope it's the third option... Althogh Artificial Apostles are pretty much like akumas, don't you think? They are created by a dead person's mind (not soul) and artificial bodies. the reason they exist is to kill akuma (while akumas' is to kill humans) they are supposed to obey the order (akuma the noah). Furthermore, they wanted to die. Kanda wanted to die at first, remember? Alma wanted to die as well. Like an akuma's soul, that only find salvation in death.

@ANGELiki about the souls: It's the same deal as the Thirds; Allen can see a black aura, but no souls. Neither they nor Alma had to have someone else's soul stuffed into their bodies to make them Akuma. Edit: Whoops, Dark Matter is a part of the Earl's soul so I'm not quite right there.

I'm not sure, Chloride. They said, he DID become an akuma... Although I guess you're right...
I think the Earl loves the 14th. Don't forget he cried often when the 14th was involved. Like when he thought the 14th's ark was destroyed, and he thought that his story was very sad.

Remember, Cross said that he didn't know "how far the earl's long arm has reached". It seemed like a hint to leverier to me.

I doubt Leverrier's with the Earl -- the man isn't evil, just desperate. What could the Earl offer him anyway? Money? Also, he's the one who suspects Central of killing Cross

Well much depends on who the hell the Earl is and who the 14th was. Be mindfull the 14th is dead as dead can be. Same with Skin. They aint getting back. However the 14th will live on in Allen. So Allen will be the 14th. Same as Tyki isnt the previous Joy noah yet he is the Joy noah.

If the earl is Mana that wil raise a lot of questions. Btw would that be the loved one Allen has to kill?

The 2nds are humanish i think... Allen never looked odd towards Kanda and Alma is the same as him. Now with that dark matter inside Alma he turned Akuma. Btw this can only be cause the 2nds have the regenerative ability or else the human would turn to dust.

Makes me think... where did that regenerative ability come from in the first place? If its so handy couldnt it be used for the real exorcists as well?

Think it depends how far gone the human host is. With Road we simply dont know, neither the earl. So it makes m so unpredictable. But with Tyki we had a pretty good indication how it works. He had 2 distinct lives at first where he was with his human friends all the time and only came if his noah duties demanded him to. After Allen hit him it seems tho his good side is gone or at best locked away.

Weve seen glimps of Skins pre-noah life as in he said he was a dockworker, but his noah-memory totaly overpowered him.

Wisely another case he was a homeless guy also totaly overpowered due to his demon eye ability wich overwhelms him. So his human side is lost as well.

Back to the earl and Road and the rest we dont know their human side at all. But when the earl thought of the 14th he went nearly insane and got angry cause of the betrayal. So well have to wait and see.

You wouldn't want NOT to die... (they could use the blood though, for Marie's eyes, eg) All the seconds ended up dying in the end, after losing their sanity. They couldn't stand what was happening to them... The seconds were all used as tools as long as they regenarated. Kanda is used as well, I don't understand why he didn't leave the order. Makes me think... where did that regenerative ability come from in the first place? If its so handy couldnt it be used for the real exorcists as well?
My guess is that regenerative ability was probably special magic of Bak's ancestor that can only be used on bodies they make from scratch; if Allen and the rest want it, they'll have to have their minds removed and become different people I guess. Also, it isn't guaranteed that they'll sync with their old Innocence again after the procedure. ANGELiki beat me to it. XD

And can anyone remind me why, in a short sentence, the 14th wasn't Mana again? Don't answer this question, because I've clearly lost my mind.

Also, looking back on all the akuma we have seen (mana included), their violent sides showed, even towards loved ones, so it is possible thaat the only reason Alma is angry is because the dark matter is amplyfying something that he has gotten over. I have a feeling that if the earl stops the dark matter, alma will suddenly go like " Oh! hi yu! is there a reason you're bleeding with my sword arm stuck under your ribs?"

Uh, would it be possible that the earl found out that 14th had a human brother and got jelaous? he would feel betrayed, knowing that even though noah are family, his favorite noah still loves he's real brother more? It would explain alot, especially if Earl knew about Mana but didn't know who mana was (that or he tried to look like mana so 14th would like him more)

Think you misinterpert me. I didnt say Alma isnt an akuma, yet his human core would determin if his soul is showing or not. And since he isnt created by the earl from a called back soul i believe his soul wouldnt show. Btw i merely gave options in a post before that.

And about Alma i dont think hes not in controle himself. The earl isnt puppetering here, but youll find out next chapter. Its just that plotwise it would not work if the earl is in controle here. He wants to be at the 14ths side, he said he would remove the dark matter for him. So clearly the earl is just watching offering his aid...at a price tho.
Alma said himself that the dark matter is easier, since hes fueling it with his own hate. Also the 3rds are controled by Alma in turn.

We don't know if Kanda went bersek because of that illusion. He seemed to be able to control jimself before he had his arm cut of. No, I think he just couldn't stand it anymore.

I read it as though Allen would have gone with the Noah in order to save everyone. The problem is, however (as Allen states himself), that he has seen past!Alma before he became infected with Dark Matter, and that Alma already hated the Order and even went on full rampage, still without Dark Matter.
In other words, even if Allen joins the Earl and he stops the 3rd`s attacks, Alma still holds this huge grudge against the Order for what they did and probably won`t stop the attack. Therefore, Allen will try to `save` Alma (in order to save everyone else) and then he will agree to come with the Earl, in my opinion :amuse Allen is naive in canon :D

The Earl´s choice of words is enigmatic and could mean so many things! There´s a huge differense between "I want to stay by his side" and "I want him to stay by my side" and as someone said earlier, I also think it has to do with that "promise" the 14th gave in a flashback. It could also mean that the Earl actually agrees with the 14th´s ideas or something! What if Earl actually wants to die, but can´t for some reason? o.O would be kind of trippy x´)

You're not the only one, I swear! I thought it was pretty darn stated, if not shown, that Allen's hesitation from Fo's question and his decision to 'Tsk' Tyki's statement along with his surprise at the Earl's revealing of his emotions led to a confirmed 'Yeah, I guess I'll tag along' nod. :D

We've seen his depression several times in the manga, and we've also seen that when the 14th comes up, he just replies sadly '...is that your wish?' If anything, the Earl seems hurt and betrayed by the 14th and that's probably, more than anything why he asked the Noahs to kill him.

I don't know, I'm just rambling, but I think it's that statement that really changed Allen's thinking of the Earl being a cruel character. He is, but he also has his experiences and feelings. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Also, had anyone noticed here, on this page (http://mangastream.com/read/d_gray_man/68914521/5), that when the Earl threatened to eradicate the Dark Matter inside the Thirds/Alma, everyone looked shocked EXCEPT Allen? Hmmm...

Oh, and I totally loved the small bit of Tykki here. Seriously, I am loving his new hairstyle. :D

Also, some people (not necessarily here) have been complaining about Hoshino's direction of the plot, the art and the characters. Well, first off, I'd like to say that it's complete and utter devotion that Hoshino has displayed, NOT laziness. If Hoshino were truly lazy, she would have dropped this manga a long time ago. But she's overcome her illnesses, her wrist surgery and such and has kept going with this manga, and I'm proud to be a fan of both such a great manga, and a great author. Second, a hiatus like that, and a huge switch from a weekly to monthly manga is obviously going to screw up your flow of the story. So far, I'm loving the plot right now. It's a nice switch from the random let's-run-to-Edo-for-no-reason arc and it's actually leading to some nice development from secondary characters *cough cough* KANDA HELLOO? And thirdly, the art: once again, hiatus + wrist surgery = not a great condition to spend much time on art. I love the lines, not going to lie, but I don't find anything bad in the art except that it's a bit harder to tell the characters from one another (for this chapter, I was totally confused between Bak and Allen because of their hair similarities) but it's not TERRIBLE. Deal with it, guys, and stop complaining. I'd like to see you in the same position as Hoshino-san and still draw amazingly like that. *sighs*

I do agree with this theory that the 14th was firstly human then became a Noah.
As for the Earl talking about being on the 14th's side and his bond with him/her
First : If I remind correctly, the 14th's gender was never precised in any chapter (don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong:))
Second : I think that being the 14th Noah, he came last (but probably not the least powerful seeing that the Earl brings almost half the other Noah to "recruit" him back) and might not have been expected by the Earl (originally, there were only 13 Apostles) which could explain their bond, as the Earl could see a sign that his crusade against the Black Order is not useless

Concerning the 14th's ties with Mana, I also agree on the fact that their bond must have been extremely strong.
Though I also think that the 14th's managed to play a double game, staying with the Noah and making his friend/brother/other travel from town to town to be difficult to locate.

I have also another theory that the 14th was not in the Earl's side at the begining of the war (he could have belonged to another independant side neither Order, nor Bookmen) and joined him after some discovery about the Akumas (the Earl said in one chapter that the exorcists didn't have quite figured out the origin of the Akuma) or under pressure (the Earl may have used Mana as a hostage to make the 14th cooperate with him).

Anyway, these are just ideas, so feel free to correct & comment ^^

The gender of the 14th has always been male, also in official translations and in the few glimps we get when the earl remembers him, hes male.
as for the 14th noah being the last member but not the weakest. Well there is a lot unexplained simply cause there is no info on the noah other then what Road the earl and Wisely said.

-14th killed all but Road and the earl so hes strong
-he has the special ability to controle the ark
-the earl seems to have had a close relation with him (not saying hes mana or not)

As far as 13 apostels go, Bonds is actualy 1 noah yet 2 hosts... so what do they count the hosts.
there were 13 memories in total the only one we miss now is Wrath (he still needs to reincarnate) and the 14th ( we dont know what his memory is actualy).
So if you follow this theory there is nothing odd about the 13 noah, the 14th would be 1 of the 13 noah. ^^just a complex way of saying.

i'd think that if the Earl cared so much for the 14th, he'd have been able to recognize Mana Walker when he made him into an Akuma. the fact that he didn't and that he only reminisces about not killing allen (for he is the 14th) means that he was not aware of mana....or at the very least not know his name (cuz Cross said that Mana and 14th were on the run, so he had to know.....but he didn't know names?)
Uh, so Allen is current host and mana's brother was previous host??
buuut, Cross said 'implanted', so does that mean that Allen is kinda like kanda in the sense that he has another bodie's memories as well as noah's as well as his own?

the 14th was Manas brother and who Mana was nobody knows. He knew however the musicians score (the language)...So he wasnt totaly crazy and tought Allen this. So he was in on it as well. As far as that goes you could say he was a human suporter (untill more is revealed about Mana),

Maybe he taught Allen without fully realising what he was doing. I mean, he could think that he was making up those characters on the spot, as a game. Maybe he felt an unexplicable impalse to teach Allen... that kind of thing. No, I think Mana was good. Hoshino isn't that cruel...

Taught... What?? what did the 14th teach them? and, if the 14th is bad, and Mana supportes him, that doesn't make him exactly a saint. It all depends on the 14th's true wishes. why does he want to kill and replace the earl? For power? Because he thinks the earl has turned evil? for another reason? Ugh, you just can't tell.

Mana said "curse you" to the 14th, and "I love you" to allen.
I'm saying that because Allen had no idea what an akuma was. It was the 14th who should have taken action (even though I don't think he could, even if he wanted to) to stop allen from turning mana to such a pitiful thing as an akuma. And it was allen the innocence-carrier who could save mana. So...

About Mana, the name 'Mana' could mean "Supernatural power" or "the stuff of which magic is formed" (his written Japanese name could also be 'Manna', the food given by God to the Israelites in the desert according to the Bible), that's probably why a lot of people asume Mana knows how to use magic.. he could have been taught by his brother... or maybe he's the one who taught Cross and 14th :blink we'll just have to wait to see...

Is Mana supposed to be a sorcerer? I thought only Cross and the Earl were supposed to be able to perform magic (apart from crows, the chan family, and so on)

Fact is that Cross said he was a user of ancient magic (the skull at the time said that only a user of ancient magic could lift the barrier) ....and since i find it unlikely the earl tought him that magic i say its most likely the 14th tought him.
Ofc Cross didnt have enough time to remove the barrier over the egg.

Another thing is Crosses ability to modify akuma, something we havnt seen preformed but he knows how they tick...possibly the 14th learned him?

Also Crosses hold over Maria is somewhat questionable its forbidden to raise the dead acording to Lavi. And well she aint a 2nd...< wich puzzles me the most. I asume he has had her with him for a long time now so...how does this work?

As stated above, I'm pretty sure Mana knew some kind of magic if he was able to avoid the Noah for over thirty years. Even after the fourteenth died, Mana was still safe. And plus Cross and the Fourteenth both knew magic, so it's not unreasonable to assume that Mana could too.

I agree with you that 14 could never ever be Mana, it doesn't make any sense and obviously, the Earl never knew of Mana's existence. However, I don't see your point about how Allen going with the Noahs is NOT a plot twist. We've had 190 chapters to understand one thing about Allen- he's caring, forgiving, loving and though naive, good hearted and always supporting his friends. Thus, the only reasonable conclusion is Allen denying to go with the Noahs. How could he go with his present personality? What's to expect but him saying no? What a typical viewer wouldn't expect is him saying yes. I don't understand how you can say that's not unpredictable. Sure, us deeper understanding viewers may think it's obvious that he could say yes, but to the larger, more targeted and younger audience, we're all expecting him to say no, and defend his friends and his home.

Hey did you notice, when, in the Jordan camp, Allen was fighting the akuma and protected a little girl and her grandfather... He had said he head no idea where he was and how he got there! I think he's seriously started to lose control over his body... To think that he walked all that distance without realising it...
And I'm wondering why could Joy look like the 14th... Maybe he and the 14th/Allen share some special connection? I don't think that the same host (Tyki) could be two Noahs (Joy and the 14th)

Hmm there is no real telling if he was born with it, since he dont remember anything prior to meeting Mana. Allen said tho that he was born with it but since he also said he dont remember anything from his younger years how would he know. Its kinda contradicting.

Also in Zone Robin has the arm attached to her, and its given to her by Cross Marian (he gave up his arm).
Also if you noticed Maria is missing a arm... < it could mean something or nothing.

:offtopic If you look closely at her left arm (http://www.onemanga.com/D.Gray-Man/128/11/), you'll notice that there is a "ball joint" on her left shoulder so it's presume that she lost her left arm when she died.

Anyway, I wonder if the other Noahs and the earl will get involved or they are going to watch the whole scenery the entire time?

We know that the Earl and Road are the only Noahs to actually have record of the 14th and his betrayal as they came out alive after his attempt of killing the Earl. This thus means that the other Noahs had not regenerated at that time or they were killed by the 14th himself. I don't think Noahs are capable of wielding magic- but we don't know much about the subject of magic itself, it's not really a topic Hoshino-sama has discussed. However, just as humans are the only ones that can be cursed, I think humans are the only one s who can wield magic. But it's justified to think that the 14th may be too powerful for the Earl to leave alone, which is why he wants to ally with him. But I personally think it's more of an emotional reason.

I was also wondering something. We know that Alma in the past was able to successfully synchronize with his Innocence, and when he reawoke, he became an Akuma. My question is: Where is his Innocence? Did the Order for him to unsynchronize before putting him into a coma? And if not, where is it now and why isn't Alma a Fallen? Or is he like Allen right now, unstable with both the Innocence and the Akuma within him?

I think it is with Hevlaska. I think whenever he went into that coma, the Order just took it back. It would be interesting to see him wield the Innocence as an Akuma, if it is possible. He was able to wield it with much hatred before.

And I think anyone can wield magic, it seems like a science in D.Gray-man. But we don't know much about magic since Hoshino never gone into detail with it.

It's obvious the Noeah can do magic, but they aren't the only ones. Humans too, such as old man Zhu, and Cross. Sculls can do perform magic as well, no? They used hexes or something to create a barrier in Timothy Arc. so, all in all, I think everyone can perform magic.

For now,if saying only "magic", not "powers",then:
Exorcist:Only Cross perform it.
Noah:None
Human:Old man Zhu, Bak
Skull

These are the only one in my memory that used magic. So if saying everyone can use magic in DGM, I won't say its impossible, but we don't have enough evidence on it yet. However, it may also be those that are special who can used it, like Bak.

the issue here is that as explained in the beginning of the series, is that only select few (hundred) people know about the war. Magic is probably also a hidden thing - i don't see it being widespread, otherwise everyone would be magically epic. I think it's a lost type of art - kind of also taboo that humans (CROW) aren't supposed to know, but they found it somehow....
What the skulls said about the egg and magic. It's ancient. To me, it looks like yet another thing that has been dabbled in by the Order (hence Zhu's guilt). Bak is descendant of Chan family, it only makes sense he knows a couple of spells. Cross is Cross, no explanation needed. But CROW magic seems like Leverrier and Central have been keeping secrets. If magic is so easily accessible, and can be used as a weapon, why would they have finders running around so defenseless??
And, it got me thinking....Bak knows at least how to summon Fou.....Komui is higher rank, so shouldn't he have some magical intel??? And as far as we know, he also thinks that Cross was merely a briliant scientists....so obviously, not everyone is allowed access to magic. Hell, it's possible that the only reason Bak hasn't been exploited for his sealing spells is only because they probably didn't know about it in the first place (i trust leverrier will go and screw everything up once this arc is over) and i dunno who Zhu was and what he did before he was a chef, but it's unlikely Central wants someone who knows HEALING MAGIC to be running around chopping salads all day.
Personally, i think that if magic is something that is supposed to exist and be accesible, we would see more of it. the way that it has only been relatively recently revealed, could mean that this is yet another thing that should have never been dug up by the Central. Sheesh, they really need to let sleeping dogs lie.
On the bright side, magic may become an addition to Allen's skills, becasue if he wishes to remain sane and as an exorcist and not noah, he is going to need a couple more tricks up his sleeve; that or another innocence evolution.

Well to be fair,

Zhus magic eats up his lifeforce so its pretty much useless in prolonged battle.
Bak uses a stone to summon the Chan guardian and he has the ability to move the asian branch base as he wishes to w/e shape. The are somewhat limited abilities. Also since Fo isnt even able to take on a lvl3 wich wore her out totaly its just of no use.Not against Tyki.

What you see these people do now is use their little last resorts to aid Allen. And its for our entertainment (if you like such things in manga).

The real deal magic is what the Earl Cross and the 14th (im more or less convinced he tought Cross) use.

The Crow use item magic with a lot of defencive and neutralizing spells. That doesnt get you that far. Thats why they made them 3rds so they got offencive abilities as well. The big negative in that is if you collect enough akuma youll turn into w/e Alma was when he was in coma. A womb.
So its self destructive. And as can be seen now your linked to alma once you take them cells.

So real magic with offencive abilities would be the noah,Cross and i asume the 14th. The rest are just posers ;)

Well the noah or at least the earl is officialy identified by 2 characters as magic user, a skull and Cross Marian (he didnt deny it). He even build further on the typ of magic, as in he cannot disspell it in time ( so he knows what it is and how to tackle it).

And to see magic in action well the earl put a barrier over the egg so thats 1. however i dunno if the attack on Edo is magic or his noah ability.

Oh yes. I do believe in that, like those butterflies used by tyki and that mind reading ability of wisely..I think that their abilities correspond to what they represent like skin boric's wrath and his lightning.Lightning is known idiomatically known as wrath of god right?

The butterflies Tyki uses are his Golem (Tease) its a gift from the earl. Tyki said so himself.

So far there are 4 unique golems out there.

Tease (gift from Earl Possibly he created it as well?)
Timcanpy (Made by the 14th, Cross its keeper for a while now its back with 14th/Allen)
Lero ( Earls Golem, also used/taken by Road now and then, origin unknown)
black bat golems (created by the science division, i asume based of Timcanpy but not as durable)

The Mind reading ability of Wisely is his noah ability.

Wisely= Mindreading
Tyki= pass thrue everything (except innocence)
Road= Dream creation/own dimension, she can suck people in there and do w/e she wants with m there
Lulubell= morph body
Sheryl= body control
Wrath= retaliation-lightning ( bit to random ability to me but o well)
Bonds= ilusions? im not sure but to lazy to look up lol.

The rest its still more or less unknown what they can do. Even the earl, well he is a master magician already so what would he need to be able to do lol

i feel like the noah can do so much more than what we are currently seeing. and if they are pushed to it they will show there true abilities. i especially think this of road. i mean it seems that the noah release there full power when they change their form, for example tyki and wrath.

I agree. The Earl along with the Noahs seem to be holding back and letting the Order live, for some unknown reason. If they really wanted to kill the exorcists, they could have done so quite easily, it seems.

I've been wanting to know however- how many exorcists are there that we know of? We do know that there are 109 slots, and how many have been filled up?

I think the Noah avoid releasing their full power because it causes them to go out of control. Like Tyki, he's never worn his full body armor since that incident. All he's done is wrap his arms with those black tentacle things.

That may be true. But when Tyki got out of control, the Earl was happy that he stopped unconsciously subduing his true Noah...maybe it's the same way for all the Noahs?

I guess those who subscribed the magazine..they might get it little earlier than the ones in store...

i swear i read some where that magic is a blood line thing. like Bac has the bloodline of famous german magician...or something, damn i need to re-read everything.
in a sense skulls are "intelligent" humans who have been "reborn" after having their bodies altered and thus becoming magical creatures
im guessing Cross may also have a link to some magician, or maybe the skill of sorcery can be acquired by other means.
i wonder if Mana knew sorcery, because he cursed allen.

I always wondered about Mana. When he was turned into an Akuma, he maintained his sense of self. However, when other people are turned into Akuma, the Akuma develops its own mindset. The only other exception to that is Alma Karma.

There's a moment, when the soul is being atached to the akuma body when the souls has manifected their capabilities to "act". I'm thinking in the first arc:

Then the Soul is atached to the akuma.
The soul in a few seconds move the body and acts by itself, but then loose control.
The Soul always is there suffering but unable to move or act.

What i realy realy realy hope for is a flashback of some of friendly stuff with 14th alive earl and other noah, Road and the previous ones.

Just a few pallets (where Allen starts to lose his mind). And then some interaction between Allen and the 14th/his memory.

But i think well get the fight with Kanda first.

Same. I really really want to see more of the 14th - his maniacal declaration of wanting to usurp the Earl and the Earl's almost-confession, makes me curious about him more than ever. Every single chapter, I'm hoping for some sort of exposure on him ever since the pleasant surprise of his first appearance. Like...I'm just tired of months and months of Kanda backstory, so I'm hoping that the chances of knowing more about the 14th will increase with the actual battle.:/

ok I will try it to summarize it ^^

anyway what I get from it is like:

- Allen enters to help Alma
- Kanda attacks Allen and Alma with I guess 5th illusion
- Zuu noticed that Kandas hair went from black to purple
- Zuu says that if kanda draws too much power like that he will die
- Kanda cuts allen seriously
- Alma goes like "as long as yuu lives for me...[dont get the rest of this line]"
- hmm...something about deeper meaning to Kandas attack pattern... the same I guess the Tokusa-akuma wants to end the fight with Bak....
- spirit stone is destroyed after that an opening is made for Tyki who attacks
- I guess Tyki's attack (who used the opportunity as kanda focused on fighting alma) and hits him... Kanda falls down
- Allen & Alma are stopped... I guess Alma is injured into chest... but than some sphares come out of his body... and here Earl explains almas regeneration ability...
- Allen tries to talk to Kanda who stood up
- Kandas 6th illusion makes his sword grow feathers like in chapter 193
- Kanda tells that Allens current situation is the noah issue and ask who from them is nessesery for the order
- a fight happens Allen vs Kanda (1v1) vs Alma who from the back shots a beam [not sure]
- Allen is [I guess] pierced by Kanda's sword... than the sword instantly goes back to its senses... kadnas hair partially return from purple to black color
- I think at the end Allen body (that was stabbed by kanda) turns into perfect noah (not sure...since it could be kanda or someone saying to allen to become a full noah...and not stick in the exorcist/noah.. the split personalioty issue)
- next continuation of Alma vs Kanda...

hmmm what if Allen is knocked out becosue of the stab and before he passes out kanda said those words to become full noah or something... (not sure)... since the end says continuation of Alma-Kanda fight in next issue... but if allens turns into noah here... it would focus on allen and not alma-kanda ^^ (haha it would be fun to see kanda+alma vs 14th :P)

the most confueseing stuff is the allen part... did allens body pulled kandas sword out of body by itself... or did the body pulled off the Allen's innocence sword-arm.... like allen become a noah so automaticly the innocence was rejected out of the body (and will serve as outside weapon similar to earl... and not his body part anymore)

yeah the most interesting part for me is the allen-noah part... and what sword are they taliing about...allens sword that was pulled out of his body as his body changed finaly into noah body... or allens body moved on its own and pulled out kandas sword out of it...

About almas words "as long as yuu lives for me" could reffer to "he wants to kill Kanda with his own hands... so he is glad that kanda lives"

hmmm its bugs my mind the allen part... I mean in past chapters when he was stabbed by the sword (nightmare land)...and than his body turned into perfect noah... is this a way to save allens life from the kandas sword injuries (like noah body can heal itself)... and what will happen to allen now... if his innocence was rejected by his noah body... will he be able to turn back... who will be able to save him from this fate..... just like the dream said....you need to be saved...

anywya current chapter is more like Allen & Alma trying to calm down Kanda... allen kinda makes it at the end...but he pays a heavy price which is his body turning into compleate noah form.... and that means that he wont be able to get to be a human anymore or he will lose his own mind... allen will disappear and 14th will replace him (like parasite takeing over someones body).... so allens friends will struggle to somehow brign allen back...

sadly the story doesnt advence much further in this 1month waiting... anyway hard to tell with only a short spoiler like this ^^ I will be able to tell when I will see it...

I just saw and well it tells about the same stuff that previous spoiler was talking about....

allen protects alma... make some funny faces... than kanda gets pissed starts to cut... zuu tries to calm down yuu's soul somehow as he emits too much energy that will kill him if he goes further like that.... allen fell and is bleeding from a cut...

so generaly script covers the previous summary/spoiler I posted ^^ so yep we will see allen going noah at the very end of it I guess... still no clue if he is aware of himself (as allen) or was he consumed by 14th totaly too... cant wait for that script part :P

@ying_su the 2nd part appeared on 2ch.... take it and put into 1piece so edit your post and compleate it ^^ (it looks better as a whole in 1post than splited between users :P )

what I get it from this is that Allen was in pain from the cut... the innocence sword saw that and returned to allens body/shoulder...it suppressed teh wound... than allen felt that the pain is gone (or he ignored the pain and focused with determination about the fight)

or something like that ^^

edit: well a 4th part appeared...but still not compleate.... but currently its on a stage where Kanda hits allens body with 6th illusion I guess...

im currently waiting for the allen's body change into noah body...since im interested in "what sword did allen pull out...kandas sword or his own"

ok so allen pulled out mugen out of his body (6th illusion)... allen's skin started to turn gray (earls eyes were sparkling, tyki had a grim smile on face).... allen when his skin was changeing put his hand on kandas shoulder...laughed... I guess he pushed him off... pulled the sword out of his body as his color started to change on whole body.... everyone was shocked... when allen pulled the sword out after that he fell down....

kanda wnet beck to his senses going all "Bean....sprout".... alma and kanda look down on allen... the ending says something like

Sacrafice ! kanda is...!

so generally its kandas fault that allen changed to a full noah... he has to carry it on his shoulders now... and he must tell this to lenalee (how will she react to this... that the allen she knew is gone...)

I guess For is gone since Tyki destroyed the spirit stone. However, the battle between Allen, Kanda, and Alma is going to be intense. Hopefully the Chinese scanlation will come out soon because I really want to see the pics. ^^

yeah allen's body turned noah... which is gray skin... no idea if allen disappeared metally too on mind...or is first his body changeing before the mind and memories...

allen took kandas strongest blow... that forced allens body to let go and accept the noah body change...and so gray skin was put on allens body.... after allen pulled out the sword out of his body he fell down (I guess the body change happened becouse it was the only way to survive... noah body can self regenerate while human body cant... or the attack in reality killed Allen... so with allens death 14th instantly took his place)

without pic hard to tell.... but for sure this made a huge shock/impact on Kanda...

anyway I wonder if kanda will protect allen from earl and noahs takeing allen with them (as he turned gray skin)... or will he let them take him.... I hope its the first as he is responsible for makeing him this way

well we knew that allen will grow gray skin eventually ^^ becouse in past one cover was allen with Gray-skin..sharp-eyes drinking something from a cup (in similar manner like lulubell in her order attack when she was disguised as america branch chief [cant recall his name])

still dont know how Lenalee, lavi, crory will react to this... Lenalee might freak out and get a mental breakdown as Allen was kinda the closest person to him after brother...

anyway cant wait for that.... next chapters will be amazeing and I feel it will be allen centric ^^

I think Kanda will do the former as well. Allen's personality is similar to Alma's after all and Kanda did feel guilty after killing his best friend the first time. If Allen leaves to join the earl, then it would be like losing a comrade again. I'm sure he'll try to convince the 14th/Allen not to leave though I think he would use his weapon since I don't think Kanda is good with his words (persuading) per se.

Chp 198 makes five chapters.

I guess the super shocking part of this arc will come at the end of the next chapter. So this arc will finish before chapter 200 and around the new volume.

Maybe will have great revelations about the 14th in the next chapter (as a great end for volume 21) and this arc finished by chapter 200?

I guess he will... but at the very end of the chapter... so more of Allen in gray skin from c198 onwards ^^ (like c197 will have 2-4pages max about allen gray transformation... so from this point its the story about "gray-man" XD)

yeah I looked on many sources...(mostly chinese ones) to see if they have raw or pic. but nope... not yet... I guess 1-2days something should appear :P

but damn... im sitting here and cat wait to see allen in noah/gray form XD.... like christmas and waiting for the moment to unpack the present xD but we know what we will get so its exciting...

But what we get a the end is Allen in death danger and Kanda shocked.
That this mean we dont need to worry about Kanda physical health?
Will he be alright?

There are little deaths in this series, although death is all around. I really worry Hoshino would "kill" a main character soon...

I think it was more of a shock to see Allen's transforming into a Noah because he didn't expect it. I guess when Kanda stabbed Mugen into Allen's body, the 14th woke up due to the fact that Innocence attacked his host's body and decided that it was the time to strike since Allen was probably in shock from the attack.

whats about this Allen losing control thing?, last time i checked Tyki for example was perfectly capable of chosing between his human and noah life (before being stabbed by Crown clown).

So its perfectly possible that Allen still can be in control over the noah memories. We absolutely dont know if there is any difference between a regular noah and the 14th.
Also what Wisely said that they still clinged to their human identity even tho excepting the noah mission.
And only Skin wasnt able to handle it since he was to overwhelmed by his noah.

going by this it would be not impossible for Allen to be noah and still be himself.

Another thing that bugged me is that some people even talked about Allen dieing from the eroding and then become the 14th.
While the word eroding is never about dieing at all, it simple is a change of form.

On another note

When Skin Boric went balistic he lost control and his noah took over his entire being. Then you could see the face of the noah apear. (Skin was already dead there).

Tyki went k.o. in his fight with Allen and then the noah apeared and took over.

I dont see this happening with Allen, unless hed be near death and the noah (14th) would do anything to protect his host. Other then that i think Allen would still be in form 1 or 2

form 1 (regular human form) Allen in control
form 2 (grey tone + stigmas) 50/50 Allen+14th
form 3 (total noah takeover) 14th in control

Nah allen's skin turned different color... he was mostly in shock too as he said few words... than as his entire body turned gray... he pulled the sword out of his body and Allen fell down (mostly unconcious...I guess he has shock too from the transformation)

Kanda is shocked becouse he alone done this... and Allen resembles Alma so Kanda again hurt his friend... so well kanda is in shock too... as he tells after seeing allens new form... "bean....sprout"

everyone is in shock there... Johnny comments that Allen's body is... Leavier or Ravier said in mind like continuation of johnnys words "like noah"

so now everyone will ask on what side is he now... Earl... Order... None but on his own side... everyone that will stand in his way will die from his hands...

anyway pic are needed (but the most a raw XD)

look on chapter 182... darkness touch... first chapter 14th showed up for a bit...

Naturally Lenalee is gonna be afraid of Noah!allen, but that's not a fact. i mean, she'll be afraid of Noah! but not !allen. If he's nice (ish) she'll be ok. otherwise she's quite good at getting along with ppl she doesn't particularly like.....Leverrier is a different matter though.

Phew. for a couple days there, i thought there was a holiday in japan this week that meant no DGM >.<'' i'm so glad i was wrong...

So is it fact that his skin turned gray? or did it just turn a different color (he could've gone a sick pale which would be represented as gray... =/

well and you wouldnt pass out if you would be pirced by a sword... coughing/vomiting blood... than your whole body is beign taken by something... no idea what allen felt when his skin was turning gray...

he then pulls himself the sword out of his body (isnt that a little traumatic experiance... you pull out the sword by yourself and feel the enormous pain by doing so...), some people in real life pass out from shock too... so nothing special....

look on tyki... allen stabbed him and tyki lost conciousness too...

as for volumes...well hard to tell if each volume has 4 or 5chapters... it could be 1 or 2 chapters.... like c198 will be again the issue of kanda-alma... while c199 will end the arc with earl disappering alone or with takeing allen (by force if needed)... so ch200 would be the "after the arc stuff"... allen is taken and lenalee, lavi are back on screen... the same they learn what happened at NA branch and to allen...

as for lenalee..well she doesnt want allen to disappear into darkness...so she is very protective over him... but when she learns that allen got absorbed by darkness which is noah she might get a breakdown... still some time will pass till we see that ^^ it would be good if lulubell that got retreat order said to lenalee that master picked up 14th who just awakened... so as goodbye she tells that she might not see allen anymore as he was absorbed by 14th...

Well from what I'm getting, Kanda goes insane, (which was foreshadowed in the previous chapter), Alma's kinda going on and off about his feelings of hatred and friendship with Kanda, Allen's trying to solve the problem but failing miserably, and ends up getting stabbed (and turning into the 14th? eh?)

And then there's something about a Noah...Tyki...the Earl and Wisely....*sighs* it sounds very intense though! Can't wait for the chapter to be out!

I'm actually F5 this query: D.Gray-man & "第197夜" every 5mins on Google. It works perfectly with the chinese and japanese sources :D

Yeah, Alma being the heart could be really really bad... even considering Kanda's arc extends 12-14 months now... this development would bring us to the end too soon.
So i just hope it's something related with the order experiments or better a way for Alma's salvation :)

Just checked chapter 195 and remembered that when Alma woke up he caused some big blast. But Tokusa was able to protect everyone since 'defense is his line of work' or something. So Jhonny and everyone else is still there.

Yeah, so if anything it would be Kanda's fault that the Noah awakened. I wonder if Kanda will ever realize that. Though it seemed back in 182 that Kanda called Allen Beansprout to get him out of his funk, so that to me almost made it seem like he cared. . .but I guess he doesn't.

(oh and does anyone have a site to read DGM on since onemanga is gone and mangafox doesn't host it anymore?)

If i remembered well , they are trapped by Tokusa dominated , after Fu showdown on early chapter, and Alma rebels against Earl on this chapter , maybe they are free and safe around.

Kanda really messed up this time. He vented his anger out on Allen and looked like what happened. I wonder if the earl intended it to happen because he was smiling when Kanda stabbed Allen. Did he figure out that Allen would meddle in the battle and will get attacked by Mugen?

I'm also curious about the battle with Kanda and Alma. Would they continue to fight or did Allen knock some sense into Kanda that he would try to talk? Either way, I can't wait to read the chapter. :)

I think one reason why Hoshino likes to show Johnny is because he is Allen's only friend among the ones that are there watching (I mean like friend friend)

I think we're mistaking about it.We are using ichigo as reference on Allen's case , probably it's work quite different . On Bleach , The Vizard has a beast inside him which try to take control , so this guy needs tame it. On D.Gray Man , the Noah genes express memories* which going to replace earliers memories.So Allen don't going to recognize anymore who he was but not necessary means it going to kill him. He just left his identity , but not necessary personality , we can't forget the people around him can affect on crafting of his new identity

Well, we're not really sure what will happen to Allen once the 14th has more control. I'm hoping the Noah's memories won't replace Allen's completely. I like Allen too much and he'll be a different character if all of his memories are replaced. I think it has to do with will power. I'm hoping Allen won't allow the 14th's memories to consume him, so he'll still be himself, but have the advantage of the memories.

They usually upload it to an image site that deletes pictures after a certain time (or they delete them on their own), so the link is dead now. I looked at some of the comments below it, and they were thanking the poster for a picture. I'm guessing it was a spoiler pic, pretty sure.

We'll have to wait and see if someone new posts some pics, or someone has the picture and reuploads it somewhere.

Hmmm...so it wasn't necessary for Crown Clown to hit Allen in order for the Noah inside him to react. It just had to be innocence. Woah, does that mean their could've been a possibility that the 14th would've reacted if Allen had been hit by innocence before this chapter?

That's right, Allen was stabbed by Kanda's Innocence, and it seems he reacts in the same way all Noah's do. It makes you wonder how he can wield Innocence in the first place. I'm also surprised on Kanda's comments to Allen, but I'm sure that he is not in his right mind at the moment.

Yes, Allen was hit by Lavi's Innocence in volume 13. That was when Lavi was in Road's control. I think it is has to be a powerful innocence to do that. BUT!! The 14th was just basically awakening in Allen, and Lavi wasn't as much using his innocence on Allen as he was using it to harm himself and protect Allen.

Well, it's not that Lavi isn't strong. It's just... he wasn't in a very good... metal state at the time... Yes, he was protecting Allen and Lenalee by doing that, but he could of killed him self by doing that. (stupid Lavi... He shouldn't of have done that...)

But one thing is, it is really hard to kill kanda, so kanda might survive the rage of the 14th :D

Getting hit means focused damage on the outside, but getting stabbed bring the damage deeper inside. Maybe somewhere that the 14th is in. I'm not so sure, this is just a guess, and since Allen is still human, external damage can't really reach the 14th...well, maybe.

and Allen's very own innocence sword is no exception, since the 14th also came out for a while when he(Allen) stabbed himself with his sword in that fight with Kanda and the L4 akuma!! makes me wonder if the sword is part of the real Allen but not the 14th?!! will the 14th be able to activate crown clown and use the innocence sword?? coz he doesn't seem to have good affinity with it!!

I think "zushaaaa" refers to the SFX of Allen pulling Mugen out of his body. It doesn't really sound like laughing imo. I would have translated the line as

"Allen pushes Kanda away and pulls Mugen out of his body. His skin is already coloured like a Noah"

So, no, I don't think Allen was laughing at Kanda at all. Though if he had, it'd probably have added to the 14th's evilness and badass-ness XD;

I went back and read the actual spoiler (heh, yes, I didn't read it before posting my previous comment, just that 1 line in question) and now that I have the context better. My interpretation is that this happened:

1. Allen yells at Kanda saying stuff like "you think everything will end just because you destroy alma?!" and uses Edge End on him
2. Kanda skewers (yes, direct translation ftw) Allen with Mugen
3. Tykki grins, Reeba and everyone else are shocked, the Earl's eyes sparkle
4. Kanda's breathing is erratic
5. Alma asks Kanda to look at his face, and asks why Kanda is making such a face
6. Allen's skin starts to change colour radiating from the place where Mugen was in him. Allen "I totally-"
7. Allen's hand on Kanda's shoulder changes colour. Allen coughs blood. Allen's face changes colour too. Allen "-don't get it at all" (continuation of his previous line)
8. Allen pushes Kanda away and in so doing gets Mugen out of his body. Allen has already become wholly Noah-coloured
9. Kanda: "!!?? Bean... Beansprout..."
10. Allen collapses.

Considering the context, I still think it's highly unlikely Allen was laughing... And "zushaaa" is a common SFX of a sword being pulled out of a body, too. Oh wells, guess we just have to wait and see ^^~

This is getting seriously awesome. We seem to fimally get a real good look at the 14th (idk what he's going to do next though- go after the Earl or exorcists?) And Kanda loses it only to regain his own self again. I am getting slightly annoyed that Hoshino is drawing Johnny's reaction to everything, he's still a minor character. But otherwise, it looks like the Kanda Alma fight will resolve itself in the next chapter. (Just as I predicted!) Allen reacting to the Innocence again shows that his current mental will and state is very unstable. I hope that his transformation is a sign to the Order that.....well, Allen's a serious threat to them, enough so that he can't go back and live his normal life as a regular exorcist. But we'll have to wait and see. Right now I'm just aching for tgr scanlations! ;)

Going back to the topic, if Allen has really lost control and the 14th leaves the Order, I think the Order will pronounce Allen KIA to the rest who are not aware of Allen's condition... The exorcists will probably be ordered to kill the 14th on sight. ;_;

Oh I agree with the fangirls deserving it soooo much. As for the flashback...I guess it was necessary or something. Kanda's past has been in the dark so much and we already know a little about Lavi, some small details on Lenalee, and some very few flashbacks on Allen.

Well, the plot is moving and an update is coming our way any second/minute/hour/day now. And for everything to come to Allen turning Noah and the fans holding breaths for the next chapter to see whose in control? Worth it. Just so worth it. :darn

woah this chapter was really really really great!

...though I do find it a little disturbing, the way Hoshino-san colored Allen's eyebrows black. It wasn't black on the first few pages of 196. The next few pages, his eyebrows were drawn in simple lines, while for the last page, it was black. Er...

But whatever. I cant wait for the next chapter too! I really wonder. Who'll be in control? Oh, and some observations.

Did anyone notice how Allen was affected from the cut by Kanda's innocence? Something had reacted that was more than normal there. And also, I'm not sure if it's just Kanda's cursed sigh growing bigger, but when Alma's...symbol appeared( similar sign and place Kanda has his as from when they were kids), Kanda's symbol almost looked like the one on Alma's as an akuma. Almost like something sort of switched.

This chapter definitely sealed my love for Alma! The way he was crying throughout makes me think he can be saved, somehow. I'm also quite sure he was the woman from Kanda's dream - the only thing that was keeping me from being sure was that she didn't really seem like an exorcist.

The Noahing of Allen was pretty anticlimatic, I thought! It was fantastic when Kanda stabbed him, though.

The art in this chapter seemed better, although I think I spotted a few rough penciled shots. I hope Hoshino isn't wearing herself out again...

anyway poor allen ;/ I mean now it will be hard for him to even return back to order as he turned into noah.... people would learn that in their base a noah is walkiing and no one knows on what side he is on.... the same he would be put under very huge security and all....

still we dont see allens eyes and forehead...we dont know if crosses have appeared on his forehead or not and its just his body changeing and not mind..... like the transfromation goes in steps

1) score music
2) now body transformation
3) next would be hearing 14th voice in allens head (cross mentioned listen to the 14th)
4) mind transformation

allen fell down as his body changed color and mostly sturcture (innocence can hurt him now...still a supprise that this innocence arm is not killing him as the power constantly flows inside the body)... allens body was hurt by his own sword so no wonder that it reacted to kandas innocence sword in similar way... the cells are affected by innocence...

no idea how lenalee will react to those news (that under her absence allen that she knows disappeared and allen now is full or almost full noah [no idea about his mind affection])

but didnt people feel strange that under current development we had 0 panels with Leavier (hitler guy) ! he should show his shocked face to see gray-allen as he was the one that gave the order to kill allen if he awakens as 14th... (it happened thx to kanda...)

in next chapter I feel that we might see Allen-14th talk inside mind... I mean allen before collapseing said to kanda "I dont understand..." so what if this was reffering to allen-14th talk about something... and allen simply did not get it what he meant...

I think i dont understand the whole situation yet:
When Kanda and Alma first fight to death, Alma was fighting because he just saw the corpse of all the exorcist under experiments. Kanda decided to live, fight and kill Alma because he wanted to see that girl.
Why try to kill each other this time? Because of aesthetics? I mean, because the mere existence of Alma is creepy? (An exorcist converted into Akuma) Sure this rage state of Kanda had a reason, even if it's a bad reason.
Poor Allen got himself inmerse in a situation out of control and got all the blows.

Sure the Earl planned this once Wiselly came back perfectly they are having fun. (The big problem for Allen is not if they will let him stay in the order, is if the order will exits in the future... and about his 14th state he can revert it once the healing is complete... so better not to do great expectations...?) How did they manage to know all about those experiments?

Last two chapters could have been perfectly condensed in only one. I guess they did it to let the big piece for the last chapter of the volume 21, the next one probably.
I expect some 14th fun for the next chapter.

yeah I noticed that Allen's eyes looked different. To me they look more like the 14th's eyes so maybe she did that on purpose to signify what was coming.

Yeah, the art style has changed. Well, in some aspects it has.
But, out of everything, why do they keep shading Allen's eyebrows dark?! Did I miss something or is this out of the blue like it seems it is.

Chinese scanalation was pretty great, I love that one panel where Allen grabs a hold of Alma and saves them both from Kanda.

I was also kind of confused with his eyebrows all of a suddenly dark colored. I wonder if it's showing that his hair will turn dark when he's full Noah. Maybe, maybe not.

I loved when Allen saved Alma and he was cradling him in his arms XD

and is it just me or does it look like on the last page that Alma was protecting Allen?

I want to see what will be Kanda's reaction to Allen becoming a Noah since it was most likely his fault.

WOOOOOW! How awesome! A total fight packed chapter, and though I had very little idea of what was going on, it was very tense. I'm confused about Alma though- he goes from crying to shooting Allen to trying to kill him to fighting Kanda to crying again to fighting Kanda again.....what?

HOSHINO NEEDS TO STOP DRAWING JOHNNY'S REACTION TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING. It's getting quite annoying.

On another point, based on Tyki's and the Earl's reactions to Allen fighting against Kanda and getting stabbed, it seems like this was part of their plan, or they knew that once Allen was stabbed by the Innocence, he would change into a Noah. HOWEVER, we don't know what final state Allen is in, and what his future is; he turned grey, but then he collapsed. We didn't get tot take a look at his face, and his hair didn't turn purple/black (I never know what a Noah's hair color truly is!). I think next chapter the Kanda-Alma fight will finally get resolved, and hopefully we'll get to see a bit of the Noah-Order-Allen situation. Maybe they'll just kidnap Allen instead of waiting for his answer? :)

I imagined the 14th with darker hair at the begining but then Hoshino sensei started to draw it as pale curly hair... My idea is 14th had chestnut hair color... will the color change in the future? :)

And you're right about the eyebrows. Also the hair over the ears is getting longer lately (i forgot this before) but the cover is just Allen i think no hints about the 14th there. Maybe Hoshino-sensei was late and coudnt draw those eyebrows? Sure the white ones are more difficult and i insist page 20 is sketchy...

it's great to finally read the raws, alma's reaction in the last page really surprised me, I didn't think he would go against kanda again, not after what allen did to stop and calm him.....

I finally think I've got the reason why Hoshino decided to draw Allen's eyebrows black. Its probably to help emphasize the expressions he makes. If Hoshino had just outlined white eyebrows like she usually does, it would be harder to understand who's who and what expression Allen was really making.

Re-reading again the chp i notice how Allen sees it coming. The 14th i mean. When he's first hit by Kanda his injure is different from usual, also the pain, he notices, but then he makes that resolved look. (Page9)

Alma's behaviour can be understood from the unstable state he is in. The level of conscience evolve in this chapter. Allen influences him. Only Kanda is that enraged...

about allen's eyebrows..
in chapter 189 they're not yet black

then, while fighting (chapter 195), he gets hit on his head/forehead and blood spliis from the wound

Mmm... i've been thinking too.
The eyebrows have appeared most in covers, that is in static pics not during the chapter were sizes are usually smaller.
In this current cover, Allen looks too much like Chang (just erase his star and see). The white eyebrows gave him personality and looked good. And were needed mainly, only in the covers.

At the end this can be simply another change in Hoshinos ideas. Maybe she doesnt like them anymore? (i like them!) Maybe are so hard to draw? (double lines in the eyes... that must be hard)
