Here is some of a post from one of our senpai, eni, that I found useful on this matter:

1.) Romanization
Korean can be romanized very differently. First time I searched for 'Girls Comics' I got like four different looking words. So I wanted to know what's the commonly used system because I went with the romanization used in my books and on wikipedia and that's from the same company who teaches "aligato" in my Japanese books >.>

That's fine. They're using the romanization that was used for the capital (Seoul, etc.) I, personally, hate that romanization and would have put like Sungin and Soonjung etc., but please just leave the tags you have.

2.) Demographic vs. Magazine
My question was how to categorize a manhwa into a demographic. Is it done by magazine like in Japan or isn't that as clear in Korea? As example I used the magazine page of Young Champ which lists four manhwa with four different demographic infos (Sonyeon, Seongin, Yuri, Seinen) here at MH.

Young Champ is primarily shounen/sonyun(sonyeon). No yaoi/yuri/josei/sunjeong at all. It targets the male gender. However, some series like Black Sacrifice, La Mosca, etc. people may exclaim to be seinen/sungin(seongin) if it had been written in Japanese. More on this topic in the reply after next.

Also, a minor note: Young Champ will also run a couple of the official Korean version of Japanese comics. Right now it's Lost Seven and Oh! My Goddess and REAL.

3.) Target Groups
The next question was about the fact that different sources tell different opinions about Josei being either included in Seongin (Adult Manhwa) or Sunjeong (Girls Manhwa). I supported the Seongin-version so far because a Korean friend told me so but Teqq's reason seems more reliable to me, so I take that back. Also, I wanted to know about terms for Boyslove/Girlslove in Korean and how their place is seen within the main demographics.

Beyond seongin, sonyeon, and sunjeong, there really aren't any categories. Bookstores and whatnot tend to categorize by type of story (i.e. action, romance, school drama, sports, SF/fantasy, etc.). With that said:

Yaoi/yuri tend to be lumped together in with the "sunjeong" category as a sub-category. There's no nice little name for it, that I know of off-hand. Sunjeong is split into (usually): "men's love", "lady's comics" and "teenager's comics" (last two are actually transliterated) . Those would be the equivalent of yaoi/shounen-ai, josei, and shoujo. Seongin very strongly implies seinen and not josei because of what I just said in the previous sentence. To be quite honest, I don't think I've ever encountered a real yuri manhwa. It'd probably be labeled as "lady's comic", however. It definitely isn't lumped as a sub-category of "sonyeon". And another note about any "men's love" comics: they typically have the label/designation "YA" at the beginning/title/chapter page. I'm uncertain of the exact meaning of it: it could either be a take-off of "yaoi" or it could be short for "ya han" which would mean perverted.

4.) Hentaiiiii!
A final just-in-case question about a Korean equivalent to hetero pornographic manhwa ^^;

Anything explicit is referred to as "sungae" or "seongae" if you want to follow the other romanizations. It translates literally to "sexual love". In Korea, to purchase anything labeled as seongin or seongae would require submission of your actual resident registration number to verify your age is over 18. I do not read those comics and seongae is really not so mainstream in Korea as it is in Japan (we're prudish compared to Japan)

As for animation of manhwa, I only have this information from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhwa#Animation_and_live-action_adaptations) to offer.

Thanks for that info Tsuki especially last paragraph *cough*!
As far as I know, the only Manhwas that has gotten an anime adoption are the ones that were serialized in Japan as well.

I have watched the movie based on Shin Angyo Onshi (one of my favorite series) aka Blade of the Phantom Master. Other than that, Priest live-action movie is being made by one of US studious Screen Gems. I will research more and then try to come up with some information.

It didn't cover the entire series, it was too much to cover. But some events at the beginning. Nevertheless, it was a decent watch.

I happened to read one called Cheese in the tap (http://www.batoto.com/comic/_/comics/cheese-in-the-trap-r111). Its not a type of story I read normally or recommend. Its about a guy and a girl. Not sure on the classification but it had that something to capture my attention.

Layers and TAL caught my attention lately. Too early to comment but the art is wonderful and the storlines look promising.

I was hoping if we could have someone properly reviewing the manhwa series. If someone is willing and show consistency / fulfill other minor requirements, he or she can get the Reviewer status as well. Adding to it, it will be good for manhwa to be known among the others. A review can attract more audience.

I have noticed that most of the Web comics from the manhwa forum come from the Korean website naver (http://comic.naver.com/index.nhn)and seems to be free to read (when you understand Korean). Does anybody know how they get the money from, is it only from ads ? How do they choose the series displayed in the website ?
Anyway if they managed to be able to pay the artists while keeping an good editorial standard I find it great. Plus we can feel less guilty to read scanlation.

Do you know if such things exists in others countries ? In France there are a lot's of free blogs but not centralized in a single website and it is rather autobiographical. The only story that I know is not free (~3€ per month). So I find it interesting this new way of making comics

I second that. webcomics have lots of potential. If it was international, that could be a youtube a-like but for mangas. people are already used to read mangas online, the korean industry already understood that.

Featured manwha currently is The Tower of God series.

There a re also a couple new other series sticky'd there, Tal and Layers.

They do not have much scanned chapters yet but the story for those series has that something to grab your attention.

Zuzun web manhwa chapters, 15, 16, 17 are out too, another great series, read it if you haven't yet.

@ Jorped - Yes, Yureaka aka ID entity is indeed awesome, kind of long but yeah.

- It really is a complete series (lots of chaps + well thought out), meaning it can be ready for anime anytime.

I think I'll reading a chapter of each one of these (Legend of Maian, Layers, KissWood, Shin Angyo Onshi Manga, Player Kill, Magician, UnbalanceXUnbalance, Yureka, Aflame inferno, Dark Mage, Zusun, and Chasers) and see the best ones...

better to remove UnbalanceXUnbalance (unless u like shoujo/ecchi/romance stuff :p )
u should add zippy ziggy in ur list, it's the funniest manhwa that i read.

btw i finished Archlord last week ( the first manhwa of the breaker artist), it's kinda good but the end was a bit rushed.
it's been a long time since i added magician and layers on my reading list but i'm always to lazy to start :XD

Baka Updates has it listed as Comedy, Drama, Ecchi, Harem, Romance, School Life, Seinen .

Wiki has it listed as Romance / comedy. Its a bit more relationship type of series.

Anyway,

If you end up liking Dark mage, magician, you should check out ID, fusions fantasy too.

Just noticed this drop down menu on the top left. Selecting "Webtoon" displays the chapter all at once. Did I just forget this option existed by always being on other sites? Anyways, while looking for manhwa titles to read here, Webtoon may be a good option. Depends on your screen height. Tall screen I think the one panel at a time is good. Shorter screen where you have to scroll anyways, Webtoon might be better.

The "webtoon" option has been there for sometime now. :p

Search the series on manga updates, about the monthly question. I dont remember.

The definition of Classic may vary with person to person. I do agree what Jammin and Phio said above. Noblesse quickly became my favorite due to most of the factors that I have already stated. And as Jammin said, Noblesse does not have bundle of dialogues to portray a certain situation. The ability of the artist to make it understandable us is really appreciable. For me, the less dialogue, also added more Sophistication to the characters, especially Rai <333333333333333 and Franky <333333333333333.

Off-topic *sorry* : Jammin I have created a thread for Paladin (Ihttp://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/72111-Webtoon-Paladin-by-Ryu-Ki-Woo) few days back. There is another series you may want to try A Fairytale for the Demon Lord (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/72112-Webtoon-A-Fairytale-for-the-Demon-Lord-by-Kim-Yong-Hwan).

Moved the reply over to the manhwa board.

I just re read paladin and I have to say its very interesting. Anyone who has not read it, please do so.
This is one of the few manhwas that I liked enough to skip ahead to see the raws. Having done so, I must say I'll be following this series when the raws come out. If I recall correctly, the raws for paladin come out on Tuesdays.

Another great series that I just caught up on was Chaser. Its currently on the third season (Meaning the third phase of the story) and I must say I was really impressed with the recent chapters. Interestingly enough even though its hosted on daum, I Google translated some of the comments from the chapter and it seems like some Noblesse fans (Noblesse is on another site known as naver) who post on daum are arguing over which story line or plot is better. Noblesse vs Chaser. :p

I have not particularly been drawn to the fairy tale of the demon lord yet. I will check that series out again when more chapters come out.

News update

This is just a small info / update on the current sticky'd threads in the Manhwa board.

These serve more of as recommended series and will be up for a month.

Afterwards, they will be replaced by another two series.

We'll try to add one new manhwa series each month along with one from the existing series threads that we feel everyone might enjoy.

So, without further adieu, there are two new sticky threads for manhwas :

Magician (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/72304-Webtoon-Magicain) & The God of High school by Yong Jae Park (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/72275-webtoon-The-God-of-High-school-by-Yong-Jae-Park)

Magician is a newly added series / thread to mh and The god of high school might be familiar to some already. Thus, I wont spoil any news on those series so check out their thread links. :p

Enjoy~!

Of the top of my head, I'm not sure of any. There are more than a handful series listed as complete in the manhwa board.
Just click on the [complete] prefix and it should all show up. Now a couple series there the raws have finished, while listed as complete the scans have not caught up.

i'm reading an epic webcomic called trace (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=48965) atm, it's already ended and have 7volumes. September 17, 2011, 10:52 PM
Wow! This trace is great!!! I just finished volume 2 and the art got better, i must say the first volume had a plain art... but the feelings the author want to pass us really get across, the way Ghang Gwon narrated his story was good (It was my first fight. I thought i could win.)...

BUT volume 2 and Kim Yoon Seong was the greater part until now. I think the author got better and Ghang Gwon will develop too, but the "ocean's eleven" plan and the sad story about Mr Beggar and Pierrot was just well done.
I'm confused if i'm allowed to feel sad about Pierrot though... Is he dead or not?

---------- Post added September 17, 2011 at 09:52 PM ---------- Previous post was September 11, 2011 at 07:50 PM ----------

Trace was a good reading, but the end seemed rushed.... They focused on Mr Beegar and the governement and Ghang Gwon plot seemed uninportant. At the end it was really interesting reading about the relantionship between traces and humans, but the troubles looked like bonus, just to bring them to light at the end...

Good, but not on the same level of Noblesse or ToG. I read The God of Highschool and it was great! I think i'll start another webcomic... But there is Farytale for the demon lord, Paladin, Magician.... It is hard to choose!!!! Can someone tell me the most popular webcomics of Naver and Daum?

I tried Annarasumanara (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=58877), the first 4 chapters have been translated by egscans recently and by Webtoon Live till chapter 11 (but they stopped it). I would not say that the story is the strongest point, but the author is making really good job in the drawing area. The concept of the web comic is really used for more than just a manhwa in color and I like that.

The theme is about a young high school girl Ai who seems to have been abandoned by her father and whose mother is away (dead?). So she has big money issue. In the city there is an old amusement park. The only person there is a mysterious magician who, according to the rumour, is able to make people disappear. By circumstance, they meet each other, but the difficulties of life, made Ai loose her belief in magic.

Below is two examples of the visuals used by the author. It's kind of special so I understand one may not like it.

Eh? It has been that long already? ^^;
I kind of dropped that series because it feels a bit too heavy and monotonous. I didn't expect it to end so fast. A prequel, huh? It is kind of rare to see a series having a prequel, could be interesting. Not sure, though.

When in the world will the next vol of Legend of Maian be released?
i have been checking the online readers every now and then but its still on chap 62. Is it a dropped project or what ? if so is tehre any chance of getting the raws to view and its subsequent translation online? i dun like leaving a manga half way if i like it and esp if things were just getting interesting

Create a thread for it, I'm sure more people will get to know it once they can read about it.

If you are into fantasy/supernatural/gore genre, Hell Blade (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/69385-Hell-Blade-by-JeTae-Yoo) should entertain you. It has a dark setting, reminds me of Berserk a bit. Wasn't scanlated for ages but Scantily Clad has release some chapters lately. 2 web comics with interesting beginning :
Peak by Im Gang-hyeok (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=72697) : the story of Korean boys who make their military service as mountain rescuers. There even may be a bit of fantastic/ghost stories. Scanlated by egscans
Marionette by Woo Kang-Sik (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=60089) : a human experiment on a baby. When growing up he seems to develop psychic powers that make him control people. Scanlated by Death Toll

Out of curiosity what are the manhwa's you all would recommend?

I've read all the one's pinned at the top of this board in the sub-forum section, and God of High School which just recently got stickied(yay!!!).

I kinda depend on what gets good reviews, is popular, to start reading them. I've read up on Magician a bit here in the thread, read a few of the chapters and it wasn't for me. I've read up on ID and it seems like something I would enjoy, just haven't begun the series yet. The same can be said for Paladin

Other series I've been reading and enjoy are Dark Air, City of Dead Sorcerer, TAL, and Special Martial Arts Extreme Hell Private High School . The last one is well behind the raws which is a shame because I find it entertaining. Finished Veritas which was enjoyable but unfortunately didn't get renewed for another season.

If not I would say I would say that would be my #1 recommendation for you. ID is also really good. (and, of course, Tower of God and Noblesse are automatic recommendations)

I strongly second both of K-dom's recommendations of

Legend of Maian
Kind-of regular fantasy but very much worth reading.
XO Sisters
I've read what's out and it's pretty good. Nice mix of action and comedy.

Other series you might want to check out are...

Girl of the Wild's(It was sticked so maybe you've read this already)
It's one of those "downtrodden guy grows into a martial artist" stories, think HSD Kenichi with a little more drama. It's extremely well drawn and has a great sense of humor.
Carnivorous Princess Yegrinna
Dog Princess from a different world travels the human world. It's pretty funny so you might want to check it out.
Trance
The best description would be Manhwa X-Men. There are 3 main stories that form one larger story. I'd recommend reading it if only for the "Rose" story, which is so freakin' good. Though be advised the ending of the series leaves something to be desired.(at least it did for me)

Stuff that doesn't seem like it would be your cup of tea....

Kubera
A "gods and men" story, which I liked alright, but the pacing is almost as slow and unfocused as the much of the Magician. So this might not be your thing.
Paladin
The artwork was great but the story never quite gets there and then the series ended.... I'd just pass on this one if I were you.
Zen Martial Arts Academy
Was pretty good, and sounds like it would be right up your alley. However it was cancelled suddenly at chapter 29 so...stay away.

September 23, 2012, 01:28 AM
Yeah, the first few you mentioned were comprised in my top of the manhwa sub board category, i.e noblesse, tower of god etc...

I haven't heard of Legend of Main, and XO Sisters, I will have to look into them.

That's kinda sad to hear that about Paladin. I read the first 5 or so pages of the first chapter. While the artwork is pretty good actually, if you say the story is sort of dull and just ends then it really doesn't seem like there is any pay off to even viewing the artwork.

A tablet or something I could see but when I sit down to read something I want prop my feet up brew a cup of tea and immerse myself the story as much as I can.

For me it's kinda the same thing with gaming. Like Scav I have a PSP, and am quite fond of it, but I aways ended up playing it at home; because that's a better experience.

It's not as good as on a computer because of the size but having a continuous reading without having to load every pages is quite confortable.
In the case of the smartoon, reading it on a computer with all those black space was rather unconfortable

I'd second the recommendation of Tower of God (http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/tower-of-god-r1). It's not "like" Id exactly, but it's every bit as good in it's way. If slow pacing doesn't bother you, you might want to consider the Magician (http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/magician-r208) as well. It's a fantasy series that's really good, but does take a good while to get going and I realize that's not for everybody.

Dark Air (http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/dark-air-r559) might also be worth checking out for you. It's not a favorite of mine but it is pretty similar to Id in some ways, and a lot of people are fond of it.

A manhwa similar to ID is a tough one. I would say Dark mage is a good one to match but it ended half way.
If i have to stretch the criteria a bit then 'Magician' is a good choice.
If you are looking for some good manhwa to read though i would say Noblesse and Tower Of God(assuming that you are already reading Breaker, i mean for manhwa fans its a given now a days).
We have thread for Magician which is active, so you ll get to know us fans in the MH and talk abt the release so on and so forth and also thread for Dark mage which went dead due to its premature ending.
Hope i helped

This is Crepuscule which is translated the day the chapter is out by one of the fast scanlation team. I'm not up to date with it. The pace is quite slow to be honest.

This is what I posted in Manhwa Rec. Thread.

About the series

In the era of space exploration. Mankind is at war against monsters of unknown origin. The battle is grim, and the future looks bleak. Amidst the chaos, mankind plays their last hand; it's time for the Knights to step into the fray and turn the tide of this war.

you can get more information and discuss the series in its own thread here (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/79029-Webtoon-Knight-Run-by-Kim-Sung-Min).

Personal Note

I stumbled upon this series two days ago. I started reading it and I am half way there. It turned to be a very good read. The plot is very interesting, Knights meets sci-fi world. What this series lacks is art. Some drawings were not done as I would have wanted them. Overall, the art is reasonable but most other manhwa, using similar drawing techniques, have better art.

I recommend it to those who like action / fantasy series.

Your rating

I will give it 8/10.

It turned out to be a very good series. Art sometimes feel awkward but the plot and characters are really good. Do try it.

It's called Dogfight (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=81006). The traduction seems to be stopped unfortunately. It has some resemblance with Blacksad.

Also you can put the original language title in mangaupdate that is how I found it.

Hi there. We are starting the collective reading of Vagrand Soldier Ares next August 5th. If you are interested here the details:

Collective Reading of VAGRAND SOLDIER ARES by Ryu Keum Cheo

http://i2.tcafe.net/1201/tr_etc__116019__1.jpg

Hi there,

Do you want to read with us this interesting and already complete manwha? Here we will begin a collective reading of it in next August 7th. So, if you're interested let us know and join the reading and the discussion. Next, you'll find some introductory reviews of this manhwa and, since it's important to get an agreement about schedule and other stuffs, some notes on the rules we could adopt in the reading.

Reviews:

Review written by Zellogan (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php?do=getinfo&username=zelllogan) and edited by Weixiaobao here in MH (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/24156-Ares-by-Ryu-Kum-Chel?p=678904&viewfull=1#post678904)

Title: Ares
Genres: Epic, adventure
Author: RYU Geum Chel
Artist: RYU Geum Chel
Start Date: 2001
End Date: 2007
Number of chapters at review: 109
Number of chapters read by reviewer: 109

Category Ratings: (1-10 scale)

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/art.jpg
Art: 8.5
It's a manhwa, the art is already a little different because of that. The design and the overall style is atypical. It's clean, not overcharged by details, it's easy to figure out what's going out during a fight. It's dynamic and fluid. We can also clearly see the different emotions on characters face. I join an image: the three heroes: baroona, ares and mickael (from left to right).
img149.imageshack.us/img149/3664/aresv02c10001002za5.jpg

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/plot.jpg
Plot: 8
It's an epic manhwa. So, there is war, betrayal, dramatic twists, ... It's kind of a light "berserk". The story is about three abnormaly talented boys who can easily destroy 30 soldiers by themselves. Each of them have an intersting past. Even if it's a shounen, death is very present and everyone can die at every moment. The story becomes darker and darker volume after volume.

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/characters.jpg
Characters: 8
The story is about three characters. But the main character is an odd young boy named Ares. He's incredibly skilled and look carefree even if he have a dramatic past. He's the kind of guy who attract others around him. He enjoy fighting (even killing) but he is not emotionless. He look frail and no one can expect him to be this strong. He doesn't seem very reliable either. He is not dumb or smart.

Michael is the second of the three talented young boys. Michael is much more secret and don't talk a lot. He is very proud and he is probably one of the smartest guy in the manhwa. Michael have a dark side and is emotionless most of the time.

The third character Baroona is less important than the two first ones. But it's possible that he becomes more important later.

There are a lot of secondary characters in the manga.

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/theme.jpg
Themes: 7
Everything turns around war, friendship, betrayal, revenge, ... It's about what you expect from an epic manhwa

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/originality.jpg
Originality: 6
The originality comes from the design. The story is not original but it's still very well done. Originality could have been a 10 if there wasn't a manga called "BERSERK".

http://mangahelpers.com/images/reviews/overall.jpg
Overall: 9
One of my favorite manga/manhwa and it's almost unknown (probably because it's Korean). It's problably one of the top5 manhwa ever done. In my personal "top 10 best manga ever", i have two manhwa: shin angyo onshi and ares.

If you like berserk or claymore, if you like epic mangas with war, you need to read this one.

Short note from wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ares_(manhwa)):

Vagrant Soldier Ares (떠돌이 용병 아레스) is a Korean manhwa written and drawn by Ryu Kum-chel. The story centers around young swordsman Ares and takes place in a world similar to Ancient Rome.
The manhwa is noted for fluid, dynamic action and subtle anachronism. For example, Ares wears shoes in the style of classic Adidas.

Where to read:

Batoto, mangahere, mangareader, etc...

Rules for the collective reading

Initial schedule:

Discussion about the rules of the collective reading: from July 29th to August 5th.
Reading to begin in August 7th.

Initial proposal for the rules:
Ares has 207 chapter of 20-30 pages each, divided in 26 volumes of 9 chapters more or less. So here some possible schedules:

fast pace: 2 volumes per week (like 20 chapters per week)
medium pace: a volume per week (like 10 chapters per week)
slow pace: half volume per week (like 4 to 5 chapters per week)

My initial vote would go to the medium pace. It would be a good initial pace to know if the comic is good for everyone or not. After two weeks we could agree on increasing or decreasing the pace (or even aborting the reading if we want to).

We could begin the reading of each new group of chapters on Wednesday and post our impressions, reviews, or simple notes about the respective volume in the respective week.

There it is. Everybody is very welcome to join! :-)

the thread for the collective reading is located here (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/2992497-Collective-Reading-of-VAGRAND-SOLDIER-ARES-by-Ryu-Keum-Cheo). If you want to participate post your intention there as well as your ideas about the pace and other rules.

Taken from etnews (http://english.etnews.com/policy/2841860_1302.html):

Korean webtoon goes abroad
2013/10/08 By Jeon Ji-yeon

Naver (CEO Kim Sang-heon) announced that it would cooperate with the Korea Creative Contents Agency (CEO Hong Sang-pyo) to open a webtoon booth at ‘Frankfurt Book Fair 2013’ which will be held for 5 days from October 9 through October 13, and help webtoon artists with their entry into the global market.

Naver said that the webtoon booth is part of the joint effort of Naver and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to invigorate a cultural contents ecosystem and the first step in the plan ‘to help webtoon artists make inroads into overseas markets.’

“The Japanese version of the Naver webtoon application, Line manga, enabled us to confirm the competitiveness and possibility of Naver webtoon contents,” said Kim Joon-goo, head of the Webtoon Business Division of Naver. “We will actively introduce competitive cartoons to overseas markets by talking with global publishing companies about publication rights.”

Korean webtoons are introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair for the first time. Naver will open the webtoon booth, and introduce 30 webtoons, including ‘Nobless,’ ‘Tower of God’ and ‘God of High School.’ At 2013 Original Cartoon Showcase, ‘the Beginning of All Stories of the World, Korean Cartoons,’ to be held in the “Asia Forum Hall’ on October 10, Mr. Kim Joon-goo IT is planning to give a presentation on the characteristics and competitveness of webtoons, which has become a unique cultural trend of Korea.

Cartoonists like Lee Hyeon-se, the master cartoonist who published a new cartoon called ‘Cartoon Three Kingdoms,’ Sohn Je-ho (story) and Lee Gwang-soo (drawing) of ‘Nobless’ which already has many fans both at home and abroad will meet foreign fans.

About 25% of all book copyright of the world is traded at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and 300,000 spectators attend the book fair every year. It is the world’s largest book fair. Publishing companies from 100 or so countries around the world will participate and talk about publication rights.

Which explains why SIU and the others manhwakas are going to Frankfurt this week.

One of my friends has started an unofficial webtoon comments section for webtoon fans outside of Korea. He decided to make this after Naver's official translation of a few of their series. However, it lacks a comments section for feedback or opinion.

This is the website:
http://blog.naver.com/drdino0809
To learn how to comment on the website, head over to http://www.batoto.net/forums/topic/15238-unofficial-foreign-fans-comment-section/

The below is a post from his website:

Hello out there!

안녕하세요!

I am a Korean fan of Webtoon, Manwha (Korean comic) posted on net, and have wished for a time where foreigners can see Webtoons too.

저는 웹툰을 좋아하는 한국인입니다. 전 오랫동안 해외의 사람들도 웹툰을 볼수있었으면 좋겠다고 생각했습니다.

And few days ago, Naver finally released their first official English translations of several Webtoons in Frankfurt Book Festival.

그리고 몇일전에, 프랑크푸르트 도서 박람회에서 드디어 네이버에서 공식번역을 내놓았습니다.

Sadly though, there was about no place where people could post comments, like we can do in Naver's Webtoons.

안타깝게도, 네이버에서 처럼 댓글을 달을수있는 곳이 없더라고요.

And I have decided to make my blog where people interested in Webtoons all over the world!

(Of course, this blog is newly created and is not any official at any means, but I hope we can show Naver what people think about Webtoons with this.)

So don't be shy! Post short comments, long reviews, sharp criticisms, fan letters full of love etc...

그러니 부끄러워 마세요! 짧은 댓글, 긴 리뷰글, 날카로운 지적, 따뜻한 팬레터 등등...

Please share with us whatever you think about Webtoons!

what in the world is happening all of my favorite webtoons are becoming stale ,just circling around and not exciting anymore :(

from

Girls of Wild for the past i don't know 5 chapters it's all about a guy who wants to go back to be a good boy and just run after seeing someone from his bad-ass years and what the hell the protagonist is strong now and yet he let people hit him like the old days of him being bullied and then fights back near the end i'm really confuse on this guys thinking

God of High school -from circling around the Greed concept to the Key concept that the normal GoH(you know real martial arts) become Dragon Balls in just a few chapter

Knight Run - the start is good but after some time it was about a girl who can't let go of her sister/friend and becomes a psychopath also i hate the author for just putting some last chapter panels some of them are really the last chapter panels about half a chapter long and put it on the new chapter to lengthen it is this a trend on webtoons

Soul Cartel - well i'm just angry about Faust i mean he just snapped i thought he was good and calculative and just like that after seeing his GF what the hell man :D

Black Haze - the author is just wasting chapters i mean the last few chapters the author tries to joke in the webtoons and it didn't work for me

at least some new webtoons are popping out like The Gamer which is Awesome . Divine Bells is still exciting ,of course ToG :D

^I feel the exact same way man. I read the some of the same Webtoons you read and a lot of them have become flat lately. Hopefully, the comics will get back on proper track in the future. At least TOG, Ability, DICE, and The Gamer are still interesting. Girls of Wild has become the biggest letdown lately. The story has no proper direction. Too much attention is being focused on useless side characters. The MC is reverting back to his bitch tendencies. You're strong now, why are you still getting bullied? I just can't take it anymore. I've lost almost complete interest in the God of High School. Everything is too ridiculous. I liked it in the beginning, but then the author started taking the DBZ route with the power-ups. I have a hard time reading the weekly chapters now. Soul Cartel isn't bad. I like the story so far. I was surprised how Faust lost his cool in one of the recent chapters, but Faust is Faust. He'll be fine. I'm a little behind on Black Haze, but I'll get caught up soon. It's a good comic. Haven't read Knight Run yet!

If anyone is looking for a good webtoon comic to read to pass time, I suggest reading Green Boy on Batoto.

@kidopitz27

Though I only closely follow two on that list. I agree about Girls of Wilds. It really needs to make up it's mind what kind of series it wants to be and who it's protag is. If it wants to be a martial arts series it's time to cut down on the slice of life drama. If it wants to be a slice of life drama it needs to figure out who the story is actually about. It's not getting anywhere jumping from character to character randomly.

Black Haze I'm fonder of. It's definitely slow going but I'm still intrigued; though I continually wish the artwork was better.

Either way though, at least we have a nice new crop of series to sort through. In the last month alone, I started reading The Gamer(which is amazing for anybody who is unaware), Flow(which is solid), Ultimate Legend: Kang Hae Hyo (also solid), and Glory Hill (which has a lot of potential).

i find TAL confusing i just read from chapter 0 - 95 and i still don't get it

DICE on the other hand is somewhat infuriating i mean the protagonist is 100% "Torpe pronounced as Thor-Pe" that is a Tagalog slang for someone, usually exclusive just for guys, who can't express their love to someone in person. (still in chapter 10 by the way and i'm angry at the protagonist already)
---- i mean the protagonist from girls of wild is doing better than this guy with no help of DICE at all he just trained hard (but he was surrounded by girls though)

strixflash
January 14, 2014, 06:33 AM
I dropped Flow as it was getting annoying with all those protector crap ~_~' The MC is unberable as well.

I just started reading DICE and my feelings are mixed. And strangely I find everyone's favorite The Gamer an average toon... didn't really understood its popularity on MH.

Noblesse and ToG are not in their best form. Both of them are average in story from last 50-60 chapters.

what in the world is happening all of my favorite webtoons are becoming stale ,just circling around and not exciting anymore :(
It's the same for me to some degree. I started with Tower of God and The Breaker and both of them are not the same as they used to be in their first parts. At least, I like the current arc of New Waves, while the previous arc was the worst in my opinion. In Tower of God, I didn't like the neglection of the amazing Part 1 cast. And the current arc is sorta confusing and and not really thought out well I think.

So, I picked up DICE, Noblesse, Girls of the Wilds and The Gamer. But Noblesse is kinda too repetitive in my opinion, but still solid, so I continue to follow it. I kinda dropped Girls of the Wilds, because all I see every week is that damn boring protaginist scrubbing those cars over and over again. This series completely lost track of the martial arts theme, which I liked at the beginning. Not to mention that my favorite character - Dal Dal - became the most annoying character through the course of the series.

DICE and The Gamer are relatively very new. Both of them are really enjoyable to read for now. I think I like The Gamer a bit more, since it has a cool cast, while I don't like any character in DICE, which is somehow funny. But DICE seems to be more serious and mysterious, which is probably the reason why I didn't drop it despite my dislike for the characters. Don't know how good those series will be once they hit 150+ chapters.

the protagonist bump to his doppelganger and the Bunny anima user said that she have to test who is the real one i think she is confused because there are the doppelganger could be another white tiger or all of the Four Guardian Beast is like Yin and Yang or in other terms Light and Dark Side

chapter 31 is shown to have a dark energy turtle so maybe there are other Four Guardian Beast (Dark Side)

Is this what you're talking about? http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/the-flow-stream-r9360Sorry didn't see your post until now. And, yeah, that's the one.

I'm enjoying it thus far. The artwork is a little rough but I like the guardian gods thing and the nuances of how the powers work, it's also got a solid likeable protagonist. The thing I'm really waiting for it to do though is expand the rest of the cast in a meaningful way. The Tiger Girl is the only other character right now that feels like a "keeper" to me.

------------------------------------

I keep trying to get into DICE but I just don't think it's my cup of tea. The concept of using magic dice to enhance yourself is interesting but it goes too dramatic for me. It's so dark and dire, there is no comic relief or sense of triumph at all. And that's just not for me.

The mahwa ive been following for the longest time must be ID. I think. I really enjoy reading it even now but prefer to wait for 2-3 months.
Probably my favourite one is The Breaker cuz i really like the characters even the ones i hate if you know what i mean. I dont really get why people keep saying that the manhwa is not so good now. I guess i know where this is coming from: the world is not new anymore, many secrets and characters have been revealed and MC is developing not so fast in terms of strength (i like that personally). But if you read the whole series from the start i think you will see that the story is solid and really enjoyable. New characters are very likable and well written. I get it that people want to see Shioon finally pwn some bad guys and show his real talent and superiority but...just wait a little more i think we will see some epic fights in the future chapters.
The same goes with Tower of God for me. I dont understand why people complain that there are not enough Androssi and co. I mean i REALLY do like them a lot but the world of ToG is really big. Story just cant go around ~10 characters considering the circumstances. It will go back to the roots im sure and to the new things once again.

Lately started reading The Gamer. Fun.
