It looks like GMR is at least aware of SUC, even if he isn't directly involved. It looks like the BFD is backing the SUC though.

I think the first part of last page is about the releases of the volumes in France and Italy. Something about 29th June to 7th July? Not sure. I think there is a lot more to it in the page.

That ending is what made the whole chapter for me regardless of whatever else happened. But still it was nice to see Shioon and the Doc talking as I suspect it will reveal Shioon wanting to have his Ki Center permanently fixed along with wanting to get stronger. That GMR pose though at the end though with him just drinking and smoking like nothing, damn I missed him.

On a side note looks he didn't keep his promise to his wife about quitting smoking lol.

Looks like shion didnt do too bad against the muscle guy (considering he started loosing his ability to use ki again-time limit) I think he would have been able to hold his own against the guy better had he been in the top shape he fought chang-ho with(albeit might have still gotten owned a bit considering the muscle guy is a level "just" a bit above him)

I dont expect GMR(so happy to see him btw) to interfere yet. He doesnt care about such matters yet. (when he learns of his disciple being able to use ki again, THATS WHEN HE'LL return, to talk to shiwon. as he destroyed it to keep the boy out of that murium world)

I do think shiwon was asking the doc for training help...This fight with muscle-head i believe gave him the right kind of motivation to evolve.

Muscle-head seems to be ji-gun's(the kid who fought shiiwon in the gym) level or a slight bit higher..i expect shiiwon to be able to be at that level after his training with DOC. ^_^

yup i think that in the end, all this S.U.C stuff will lead him to his master...he'll have to beat his master because their ideals will be far apart.

1-Shiion is fighting to protect himself, protect innocents (gnerally being good) and uphold his ideals of a kind master(before GMR snapped after his gf death)

2-GMR snapped after his gf's death, and now basically has the "fuck this world" mentality and "the strong rule" kinda thing because Alliance chief(OLD guy) thought since he was the chief he could do whatever he pleased and look where that led?-GMR's gf's death and GMR's one and only fav student having a broken KI center.

I REALLY REALLY HOPE that the DOC is an expert martial artist besides being a DOC lol Shiiwon needs serious training in martial arts and experience, if he's to face S.U.C and later baddies

I think GMR is NOT involved with the SUC. If he were, SUC wouldn't want to recruit Shioon at all.(It seems like they wanted to recruit him even knowing that he has a broken Ki center). So, as I mentioned in my previous posts, they want to learn BHE technique and show GMR that even his disciple is in their ranks. It also seems like SUC wants to get GMR's attention with these kind of actions. So, maybe they want Shioon to be with them when the time comes and GMR pays a visit to SUC. In the next chapter GMR is probably gonna diss them by saying something like "who are these annoying brats?"

By the way, do we know for certain that GMR want to break the wall between murim and real world? As far as I can remember, the ones who say that kind of stuff are all murim-ins and therefore GMR's enemies.(and it's not weird for an enemy to talk bad behind GMR's back). So, the way I see it GMR is only against murim and its' rules. He just want to bring down the murim.(and not introduce chaos to the real world like SUC. Because if he wanted to do that he'd do a better job himself and not use some highschoolers).

Pressure point attack of the glasses-guy seem to not affect Shioon that much. But previously, he had cramps all over his body against the sword-guy. So, does it mean that his body is getting stronger or (in my opinion)maybe we have a contradicting development to the previous chapters?

About getting his Ki center back, I think the only way is to get another spirit medicine like before. After talking to the doctor he might ask Sunwoo clan to acquire him one but he'll probably try to get his hand on himself.(and end up getting one of the medicines that Shiho packed when she had in her luggage)

I was a bit disapointed by last chapter but this one made for it. We got full of information about how the pill works ( also it seems the side effect do not affect shioon that much ). And a great cliffhanger before a 2 weeks break....

At least now we can get rid of the theory doc= GMR for sure.
I don't think shioon will get his ki center revived, the fact that the acuponcture point don't work on him seems like a good ability which would be sad to get rid off.

What I did not understand was why the Glasses guy said that Shioon was pretending that his Ki-center was broken. While the pill was taking effect, the glasses guy was never near him nor did he see Shioon fight. When the time came for these two to face off, the medicine had already worn off. So, there is no way for the glasses to know/assume that the ki-center is not broken. There was no Ki to sense.

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing that either but I wonder how much GMR actually put on that phone. My phone can only record minute videos but that might be enough since Shioon seems to master techs after just seeming them one time. How badass would it be if he took part in the martial arts championship? That I would love to see and perhaps there could be a rematch of Hyuk and Shioon :D.

I'm wondering if the BFD leader is watching live footage of what happened or is it a footage showing later?
If it is live, that means it is likely there is a link between BFD and SUC. If it is just a news report though and not live there likely would be no link between them.

2. That Shi-woon vs Glasses would lead to a much more interesting chapter than continuing him & Chang-ho.
3. Predicted Shiwoon would overwhelmingly lose. (Can't follow his movements.)

4. Predicted the way the medicine works. Flowing from the stomach as it is digested it temporarily ünlocks Ki.
5. Predicted the medicine would run out. (Score! 2 Points!)
6. Predicted the medicines side effects, very much as the doctor described them. (Triple Bonus!!!)

...this is much more interesting than ShiWoon versus Chang-ho. Because we knew ShiWoon would win that fight. I can't see ShiWoon beating Glasses, when he can't even follow his moves. So now we're in for some real drama. Goomoonryong said, "True Courage is Fighting even when you can't win. Not fighting only when you know you can." Police Face dangers every time they pull someone over. Hopefully there are some who do their job because they want to protect people, not because they want the power or authority to hurt others.

We haven't been told. But you're on the right track. No working Ki center? = Then where does the Ki come from?
The Ki Center is at the center of his body, and as a medicine travels out from there in his digestive and blood stream.
Here are three simple analogies.

1. ...(i.e. While the medicine is being released, like the graphite it may be acting as a conductor for him to move Ki around in his body. As a possible twist, It may also work like a poison/drugs that leaves him weak or sick afterwords.)

2. The medicine pills Ki may be equal to Ten cans of sugary energy drink. Soon the heart starts pumping. You start smiling. You Eyes glass over, gravity gets a little wobbly, and you have a sudden urge to bounce off of, or against things like a pin-ball makes its own noise some might mistake for speach. Ending in A. your Heart Explodes and you die. Or B. you have the sickest need, never to taste candy-in-a-can, drink only water, and lay in bed for as long as possible, as you sweat out the most putrid sweat and vomit if you dare try most food in the fridge.

3. He kicks ass. The pill wears off. A gag is involved in what he learns about the pills effects and some one's timing.

Ahjussi Medicine Man, Said take this pill and you will be able to fight (singluar). Not take this pill and you will be able to use Ki from now on. What, Shiwoon feels in his own words is the flow of Ki he had forgotten. Ahjussi, mentioned that his ki center is broken and that there is no simple fix for, broken=broken.

2. Medicine man appearing before the chapter ended. Especially since Glasses & Shiwoon moved to a rooftop.

Off topic. The author talks about the work being popular in Italy. So, do they also have an Italian release before English? If this is the case, they shouldn't talk about people making scanlations. Afterall, I'd even go to Paris to get an autograph if i had a copy of their work.

No English releases yet. I've written Dark Horse comics (USA) twice now, asking them to pick up the series. Dark Horse has even added an online comic viewer. They did an awesome job, it will take you through comics titles page-by-page or "frame-by-frame, to the extreme".

What I'm really curious about is what the doctor intends to do with Shiwoon's blood? The only person so far in the story to benefit from it was Lady Sosul of the Sunwoo. But I recall there being more Medicine pills left over besides the one Shiwoon took. So I thought they would just give her one of those.

Ch 33 1. Who else in this series might benefit from Shiwoons blood?
Ch 35 2. Why didn't the forehead nerve strike work? It worked for JiGun. So why does the doc say otherwise?

And how the fuck did the Doctor find him? Did he stick a tracer up Shiwoon's ass when he wasn't looking? God damn Urahara, he's probably playing both sides.

@tehwes Shioon was already out of time because pills effect faded and Shioon could not fight with Ki anymore. So he fought him without any and thats why Glasses guy could win so easy.

As for how the Mr.Doctor found him... Probably was watching him secretly or some other reason. The good thing about this chapter is that Shioon finally decided to get his Ki-center back for good and not use some bothersome pills.

A sick chapter in terms of plot development, almost 9-10 months of waiting to see 9AD again. Doesn't he looked too comfortable and handsome :p. This chapter may have answered few of our questions and at the same time posed many others. It is clear that GMR has association with S.U.C but I am still not too convinced that he would suck down to the level where he'd be teaching someone like Chang-Ho.

Bluntness is good! Feel free to elaborate on what you don't like or what is different. You are probably correct. And you were right to call out what appeared to you to be BS. But if the image you saw was too small or blurry, then you could not have seen what Shiwoon punched was an After-image. Glasses did something like a ghost-step.

The punch didn't connect like it did with Gyu-Bum. Also the strike was from the front, so glasses could see it coming. Gyu-bum was attacked from behind after he thought Shiwoon was finished (i.e. don't think Gyu-Bum is less of a fighter than mister Glasses.) Also in the third paragraph. I wondered the same thing, and you may be right. Not sure about the enema, lol, but his presence was very instant and unexpected. He may be part of the SUC?


Still puzzled, but thankful A-Team's translation is out! Unfortunately it still doesn't match the story we've seen so far. Quoting the translation.

I'm still mulling this over. Chapter 22, pg 5 may help others mull the question too. My best guess is that his body adapted to the attack, like a man who's learned to control part of his body even while being hit with a taser. Either way, somewhere between Chapter 13 and Chapter 35 the story changed... Before the above translation appeared, I posted something very much like what the Doctor said about Shiwoon divided Ki distribution, hope the following analogy helps explain it in deeper detail....edited the quote below.


One of the things I may have picked up on in New Waves (ch16-ch17) is that Shiwoons body is so filled with Ki medicine** (Sun'Moon Divine Dan), that without having a working Ki center to gather or move Ki about his body; he is still able to boost his cellular vitality/strength and recovery speed. Think of every cell in his body as having been turned into a seed that can grow and store energy. And strengthening those cells is like growth rings in a tree. Each time he is able to cycle and exhaust those cells, he starts a new growth cycle. 

By going through increasing-ly intense experiences to exhaust or exert himself, Shiwoon could get to the point where he is like Ichigo was in the Bleach manga. i.e. Leaking Ki energy continuously because his bodies production rate exceeds its use. He still seems far from that point. But he is recovering at a faster and faster pace each and every time. From the moment he started working out with Elder Jeon there is a lot of unspoken proof to be found, all showing his increasing quickness to recover as well as increases to stamina.

@revennge Shiwoon had already decided to get his ki center fixed. That's what he asked the Doctor for in the first place.

@Otters11 That actually does make more sense if it was an after-image, but it's drawn in a misleading way because the guy is already moving towards Shiwoon and even mentions that in text; it's easy to assume the lines were simply from his initial movement (the one Shiwoon is using to counterattack). We don't even see Shiwoon's punch pass through the guy, which they've done every other time an after-image occurred.

Shiwoon's body is normally infused with ki medicine, and taking that pill activates the ki medicine in his entire body, which produces ki energy until the ki medicine "battery" runs dry. According to the Doctor, Shiwoon is immune to the meridian strike purely because ki flow is not blocked. Of course he still didn't really explain how Shiwoon was able to use ki techniques with the pill, since you still need the ki center to control the flow and all that. In my mind, taking this pill without a functioning ki center would be impossible to control. You would just use full power in every movement you made, since everything would be infused with ki.

The only difference between then and now is the pill's effects.

meaning he doesnt actually have free flowing ki with the pill he took, more like the pill allows several places of his body to generate ki. The effects of the pill were still slowly going away(but not totally) when he was poked in the pressure point on the forehead, hence why the localized ki at that spot helped protect him.

I agree. In my opinion, GMR destroyed Shioon's Ki center knowing that it can not be repaired easily and thus Murim will ignore him. The question is, why SUC is after him? I never thought GMR will want to put him in dangerous spot again.

Because it's so early in the series, I do not think there is a direct route to a fix, where this doctor is involved.

I posted a guess in the A-Team thread back when Ch16-17 came out. I believe the key to Shioon getting stronger, is finding more intense ways of focusing on exerting each part of him body. ~ Since Ki energy, is related to nerve energy/electricity. Then if he fortified his body with so much life charge, then the flow may very well cross and connect and move about his body like a "Jacob's Ladder" arcing across the broken ki center and igniting where ever he directs the flow. But this is me looking way ahead at where the story could go.

Nice post Otters11. I got a kinda similar impression from the last chapters, especially when the doctor told him how the medicine work. I assumed, Shioon would have to learn to focus Ki from his other parts of body rather than using it from the center.

still it would be much better if there were a way to fix his ki center 'cause even if he learned to focus ki from other parts i don't think the results would be the same as him focusing it direct from the center...i mean there's a high possibility the difference in skill between him and other martial artist e.g. Hyuk So-Chun would be obvious :headscratch
But anyway this is a manhwa so miracles can happen so i'm still hoping to see his ki center fixed in a way or another :D

There's a misunderstanding which needs to be cleared asap: ki centerS aren't just a place in which ki is gathered, but their main role is actually making and letting the ki circulate throughout the body (through ki canals). A normal person would be dead, and the only reason Shioon still lives is, according to the manwha, because thanks to the pill he ate all his body is basically spilling abnormal amounts of ki from every single cell. The fact that his ki centers are broken mean he can't manipulate that ki, even though he possess a lot of it (it's like it isn't really his, from a certain point of view). He has a lot of ki but he can't use it because if the ki centers are broken the ki canals can't work and thus he can't manipulate the internal flow of ki (because he doesn't even have a ki flow anymore).

Hope I made it a bit more clear.

I see this whole broken Ki center like this.

Ki center is the diaphragm. The whole process of circulating and using ki is "Breath". The diaphragm is a major involuntary muscle in breathing. Meaning you dont control the diaphragm consciously, it moves when breathing as long as you're alive.

Now if someone where to hurt that muscle to a point where it wouldnt be able to function properly, one would have problems breathing correctly and gathering the life force that is KI or "BREATH".

So breath by itself can't provide the energy, it needs to be transmitted in a meaner which the body can use. Thats where blood comes in. Breath allows for circulation of blood and the more air you breathe the more blood goes to organs to enrich them with energy.

What happened to shioon is, his diaphragm got fucked up by GMR(now in real life you'd be dead, since without a working diaphragm you're a vegetable or cant breathe without aided hospital machines), but shioon's alive because he literally doesn't need the diaphragm anymore to generate life energy for him, since the "spirit pill" that got mixed all over his body/blood has taken care of that.

So lets look at the effect:

-HE can't gather and generate ki anymore because his ki center is gone.

Now we know he has eaten the spirit pill, which I believe now acts as a source of unlimited KI for him. One can liken it to a "new second ki center" within him. The way the spirit pill acts is gets absorbed and then goes into the bloodstream. This effectively acts as if you were constantly getting ki from the "original" ki center, which shioon doesn't have anymore. Thus flowing ki, but not way to focus it.

I believe New waves is about Shioon re-learning how to focus Ki from the "new ki center" he's got. That Ki center is technically not a "ki center" because its located in multiple places in his body, hence why its almost impossible for him to get his "KI center" fixed like he was told by the DOC. In effect the Ki has combined with his blood, hence it being in multiple places.
Thus HE HIMSELF is literally the "new ki center", his whole body is, instead of before where it was his diaphragm-which worked to gather the ki(breath) and generate it throughout his body(blood).

BUT, him not being able to recover his "ki center" is not totally true, as he now needs to learn to focus the ki thats flowing in multiple parts of his body, and use it.

how that'll play out if the manhwa writer's wish.

I believe the fact that Shion been taught most of GMR techniques before and after he lost his Ki-Center will have to do with his "recovery".

The "Black Origin Theshold" was described as the Moment when one surpasses the Limits of conscious and subconsious and becomes pure Fighting Spirit (Mu).
If you ask me, this technique desciption could also be a biography of Shion.

Everything in the Story is leading to the point where Shion learns and controls that certain technique without loosing his sainity.

The doctor may come up with something now that he knows Shion was a former disciple of GMR.
