Thanks Chaos for posting the RAWS. Finally, after the first string domination, the middle schoolers are starting the long-awaited comeback.
Niou being able to synchro with the mutsu twins is amazing, and this makes another method to defeat synchro (the other ones are by overpowering it and maybe the Mouuju No Synchro used by Chitose and Tachibana). If Niou can read their moves and toughts, I don't know how the mutsu are going to overcome it. They only choice is maybe play without using synchro, but if that happens, they will lose badly. I think it's safe to assume that Niou and Oishi are going to win this match, yeah, I think the mutsu twins are going to get serious and all, but in the end, victory will be for Oishi and Niou.
Momo used black jack knife, I was expecting him using it. Kenya will get another power-up in this match, maybe he increases his speed and the speed of his own shots, making them so fast that Taira and Hara can't return them. I don't know how are they going to return black jack knife, but that move broke Momo's wrists. Is Konomi making them forfeit because they can't play due to their wrists condition?.
Yanagi lost, everybody supposed he was going to win, but he is way out of Akuto's league. I just hope that Inui defeats him, since he was analyzing him during Yanagi's match and his winning chances are higher than Renji's, so maybe he can defeat him. I'm curious about what power-up will Inui get.
Also, introducing the No.10, 9 and 8 was also great, but No.4 (Ryoga?) is unknown at the moment. I hope that in the next chapters, the other members of the BJB Brigade make a comeback. Yukimura and Irie's matches are still on hold, we have to see how they are doing.

Momo's BJK allowed them to overcome Taira's Bakyuun, so I assume it's up to Kenya to stop Hara.
I doubt that Taira and Hara have to forfeit, it looks like they let go of their rackets in time. Overall, I think the match's development will be that Hara reads Momo's and Kenya's shots, and hits them so that Momo can't reach them. That way Kenya has to increase his speed in order to return Moukohan and create a setup for Momo.
Well, I figured that Inui would do something, just him taking over is a bit unexpected. I guess one could argue that having Inui lose would make the whole switch somewhat pointless.

I'm also looking foward to Yukimura. I want to know how he's going to supress yips. After all, he has to make it to the first string, he is one of the strongest and can't lose to a guy who only reflects things, that's useless. When Yuki awakes and gets out of the yips, he will crush Fuwa.
Kawamura and Kabaji is what confuses me, I don't know how they're going to survive the Danji no Natsu and make a comeback

Yukimura probably won't achieve Flawless Unity, as it goes against his very character. He's probably going to suppress the Yips by simply breaking out of it; the Yips is his technique. It's not as if the opponent is actually losing their senses - it's a hallucination, as seen during his match with Ryoma, who "regained" his own senses via Flawless Unity. Yukimura knows how to work under hardships more than anyone else in the series. It's said that God places those he loves through harsh trials. Yukimura has already been through one trial: his hospitalization. That's why he's the Child of God/the Demigod. Getting out of the Yips, or working under the Yips is expected.

Power tennis matches in this series are simply surreal games of "I'll send you flying even higher!" The winner will be the pair who can knock their opponents out of the solar system.

I didn't say that he has to get Tenimuhou, but instead breaking yips using willpower or getting a new aura instead. I wouldn't like to see him getting black aura like Sanada did, but a new aura or technique. I agree with you that he understands his own move and that he will break through it somehow, but I would like to see him achieving something new and awesome.
And about kawa and Kabaji, yeah, they will send them to the outer space and kill them :^_^

Tooyama VS Hakamada. There is too much bloodshed for it to be called Tennis.
Kawamura may be able to feel the heat of the clouds he's so high up in the sky.
Fuwa blinked and now Yukimura is blind.
Niou has Synchronized with his opponents.

The chapters are very good.
Niou synchronizing with the Mutsu twins is just crazy cool. It never occurred my mind. But I am glad with this unexpected move.
So this is Momo's comeback match from his defeat in Oni's hands. I pretty much thought that he would have some power ups but I didn't really expect that it would be this early. I just wonder how powerful his BJK is compared to Oni's. Momo's BJK broke the strings of those rackets, Oni's broke his wrist.
Inui. I really have such high trust for the guy. He had been playing doubles for most of the times in PoT 1 when he is actually a much better singles player. I hope that this is his chance to show his skills more.
I can assume that Niou-Oishi pair can win...Momo-Kenya also have their possibility. Yukimura, I don't know how, but he would win. It would be such a disappointment for his character to lose.

A lot of ppl here thought Yanagi would win and he got annihalated.
Though Yukimura is definete win.
Im really on edge for Irie VS Akiba though.
If Akiba wins, then the whole ranking system would fall through.
Irie >> Atobe. If Akiba > Irie and he is just No.20, then it means the rest of the 1st Stringers are SERIOUSLY just playing at the weakest level right now. and when they get serious the 2nd Stringers are dead.
I think Irie has to win.
Considering he broke down Atobe for fun and took 6 straight games, gave him a 5-0 handicap, could have won the match whenever he wanted and let it be a draw, if the No.20 can defeat a guy like that then the rest of the characters have absolutely no hope.

The whole idea behind the Yips is to put the opponent in a state of advanced shock because it appears that every ball the opponent hits will always be returned (does this mean that the "Tennis Robot" can do it too?) no matter what. So, to reflect that shock must mean that Fuwa convinced Yukimura that everything he hits will be returned as well.
Welcome to copy player #4, folks.

No, it appears to be an ability unique to Yukimura. From what Konomi said in Pair Puri 5, it seems that what you said is only part of the whole thing and that Yukimura himself has some sort of aura that supports that feeling.
Yukimura's "Yips" is not a play style or an ability.
Yukimura's strength by itself causes those around him to inadvertently tense up.
It might feel like "The World of Yukimura"? I wanted to show an absolute existence, a transcendental feeling.
http://fanbook.livejournal.com/29508.html
The purpose of this match might be to explain Yips itself better.
...but in reality, what the heck is "Yips"? Don't worry! I'll make it more understandable from now on (laughs).
Atobe the king
September 22, 2011, 07:40 PM
The fanbooks explanation is more in line with the actual definition of the yips. The yips is something that can happen in any sport...its just yukimuras ability to cause it is exaggerated. In real matches and tense situations i've seen many players suddenly freeze up..can't hit a forehand properly double faulting left and right etc. Some timIm pretty sure tezuka had a case of the yips when he was in kyushu and couldnt serve at full strength. Since yukimura is likely to be a shoutout to a certain GOAT candidate who did something similar (within realistic means) it's probably something only he can do. But also makes the reflection thing lololol.

September 23, 2011, 03:51 AM
Reflection is, in a way, an useless technique. If you only can reflect back states, what will happen against an opponent that uses muga?. For example, Yuki could break out of the yips and use Muga, how will Fuwa counter that?. I don't think he has the power to return some shots like Rai or Daisharin Yama Arashi. You should also know that the stamina isn't much of a problem for Yuki, since he has monstruous stamina

Taira has shown his Bakyuun, Hara his Moukohan. That, combined with their stats makes them No.19 and No.18. Black Jack Knife is too much for them, I don't think they're going to overcome it, maybe they will start avoiding Momo but Kenya has to shown his improvement yet. Also, Tokugawa and Oni are much better players than the B part of the first string, they'll probably have a close match with Byodouin and Shuuji, if they lose for example 7-6, that means that they could crush everybody of the B part.
I think that Taira and Hara have no moves left, that is enough to show that they're strong. About Ishida Gin being weaker than them, I'm not too sure about that, you think they could counter a 100th style Hadoukyuu?

It is stated that Irie and Oni are 1st Stringer level but they stayed behind to strengthen the rest of the Japan Junior Tennis Camp.

Perhaps Tokugawa is an exception. But I havent seen anything that makes Taira and Hara better than Miyako, Matsudaira and Yamato etc. yet.
Miyako was the main guy in taking 4 games from Shiraishi/Kirihara pair which is a stronger team than Momo&Kenya.
Miyako is rougly Kirihara level.
So Taira/Hara are dominating, its not like they are dominating a better team than Shiraishi/Kirihara like Miyako did.

I'm mostly basing this on two things:
1. If you look at the second to last page in chapter 59, you can see a black swirl, so that might mean that the spin gets neutralized.
2. Apparently, the string still broke when Momo used a normal Jack Knife, which implies that BJK has some special property to it.
IF that is the case.
What if for example you get Kite VS Taira and Kite keeps hitting Habu's.

No, no stats. But if you think about it, the 1st Stringers probably have much better stats than 3rd court, who in turn had better stats than the middle schoolers during the team shuffle.
Kite doesn't use Habu in the manga, but even assuming he could, it shouldn't be too difficult to return, as long as you don't use a large swing.
The Moukohan is cool, made me laugh, but its like if Momoshiro ONLY had Super Dunk. Surely Hara needs to have more than just a great smash?
Well, we've seen that he apparently has a good tactical understanding, as he was able to predict pretty much everything Kenya did. That's no special technique, but still something he has over a lot of other people.

You might be missing the point; that may be exactly what's good enough to get in the top 20. Remember, the middle schoolers were invited to the camp in the first place because they had amazing talent (Wild Beast Aura, Muga, all the surreal techniques we've seen up until this point, etc.). The camp is just having them do all these extreme trainings because it's implied that the higher-ups that run the U-17 are well-aware that the middle-schoolers can and will surpass the high-schoolers.
The high-schoolers are powerful, but the whole reason that the middle-schoolers are even at the U-17 are because they're supposed to be good enough to beat the Stringers and take their spots.

I actually forgot that.
But thing is, its only Momo and Kenya.
Do Momo and Kenya fit in the Top20 best Middle Schoolers?
They dont :/
So I wasnt expecting those 2 of all ppl to end up as 1st Stringers.
Konomi can make them lose the B part since they're not THAT important, you know in the end Momo and Kenya are going to win, what's the point of making them lose again? The REALLY important part are the top 10.
When I sayed no moves left I was talking about special moves. Their stats are court 1 level, sure, but I think Konomi has displayed their abilities to much, now it's the turn of middle schoolers to defeat them don't you think?
Konomi hasnt shown Hara and Taira's abilities much at all...
He has barely displayed ANY of the 1st Stringers abilities... How did you work out it was too much?
But why would Momo and Kenya win of all players? There are SEVERAL better middle schoolers who can beat them. So why them?

Why them?, don't know really dude, but since they trained like hell and they become way better then other middle schoolers, they can really make it. For example, Momo with Black Jack Knife is way stronger than before. I know they're inferior to other middle schoolers, but they are better than some court 3 players (Kite, Krauser, Jirou), if they make it to the first string, that means something. I don't think that is THAT hard for them to beat Taira and Hara, and they'll probably end up winning, so I don't see why you say that they have to lose

Momo and Kenya better than Kite???
How do you work that out? Remember Kite can TELELPORT ANYWHERE. And he has an extremely difficult serve to return.
Big Bang is awesome.
Momoshiro is about Hirakoba's level.
But thanks to Black Jack Knife, he is equal to Kirihara now.
I imagine Kenya will also get a power lift soon too.
Ill definetely give you he's better than Krauser.
Perhaps just a little bit better than Jirou.
I didnt say they have to lose, but If Momo becomes No. 19, It wouldnt be right since there are over 15 middle schoolers better than him, not including the Top 10 who are DEFINETELY better than him.
If you want 15 players here : Echizen, Fuji, Shiraishi, Atobe, Chitose, Tachibana, Yagyuu, Niou, Kirihara, Yanagi, Inui, Tooyama, Akutsu, Sanada, Yukimura, Remember Kaido is his Equal.
Not to mention The great Beast Tezuka will probably return.
If they make it to the 1st String, where do guys like Atobe, Shiraishi, Fuji & Tachibana stand?..
Guys like Yamato who was only JUST under Tezuka before PoP.
So thats like Fuji level.
Guys like Irie who is only facing no.20.
Yamato and Irie would beat Momoshiro.
What im sayin is that Momo&Kenya winning the next match is not definete.
The game could still go either way.

You're just picking at favorites. Remember what I said, if a middle-schooler was invited to the U-17, then the U-17 knows that the middle-schooler can beat one of their high-schoolers. It's not about ranks and tiers within the middle-school level anymore - this isn't PoT1 where the apex of ability was the Nationals; it doesn't matter if they're better than Kite or not. The point is, they've been through hellish training designed to bring their potential up to the high-school level. It's middle-schoolers vs. high-schoolers now, and we can't judge them like we would be able to in the previous series.

Well, you know that atobe, shiraishi, fuji, echizen... will make it to the top 10, but altough there are better middle schoolers than Momo it's not that important since they're facing first stringers, that they're better than them doesn't mean that they're stronger than other middle schoolers, but we don't know how strong Momo is now, but at the end of Shin he will be around fuji's level, just like Kaidoh, both of them have a very huge potential

Momo & Kaidoh will be at Fuji level? A little exaggeration I think.
Fuji is yet to be handed his power-up.
If he finished last series with stopping his opponent from hitting a shot with over the net, then I cant see how Momo and Kaido would improve THAT much lol.
And do you think its fair to say to say stronger than Kite??
Im sorry but Kite > Momo.

I'm agree with you about fuji but I don't think Kite is stronger. Momo could return big bang because he has improved greatly his power, Kite wouldn't even stand a chance against BJK, that move is so powerful.

Fair enough with Kite.
Do you think Konomi will give him a power-up?
Coz he was introduced as a FAR better version of Tanishi Kei.
Remember he apparently CRUSHED all of his opponents towards the nationals.
Now with Irie VS Akiba, do we still think Irie will win?
Because im hoping that Irie will win.

Regarding Fuwa's Reflection, I think I may have an idea as to how it works. Gather 'round, kids.
As you all may or may not know, the eyes are organs that detect light, right? The eyes are directly connected to the brain. I don't know how exactly, but Fuwa may have done something to Yukimura that simulated the electro-chemical neuron impulses in his brain to reproduce the Yips in him. Maybe his eyes have the ability to reflect the state of the sensory system? I mean, the Yips in PoT is related to the sensory system.

I'm with you airgrimes, Irie will definitely win, what's the point of making him lose to No.20?, he has to own him somehow. As for Yukimura, I hope he makes his way through the Yips since it is his own technique and he knows perfectly how it works. Also, since he is one of the strongest (and stronger than Sanada, for sure), he has too much hype to lose to a random guy, so I predict that Yuki will struggle with yips as fuwa takes one or maybe two games, then, he rememebers his match against Ryoma and that he can't only rely on Yips and bam, he uses a new, ultra crazy technique that will make Fuwa piss himself

I think that Irie will win, but Yukimura will lose. Right now, I only see Momoshrio/Kenya and Irie winning of those who are playing. With the way Momoshiro has been treated in this series and him pulling out the Black Jack Knife, I have to think that he's going to win.

Why Yukimura has to lose?; to a guy whose ability is only reflection?, that wouldn't make sense, if Momo and Kenya win Yukimura HAS to win, Konomi can't screw up things and make momo win and Yuki lose

You're making a pretty big assumption that his opponent's only ability is reflection, just because that's all we've seen so far. He probably has more abilities than that based on his status on the team.
Momoshiro and Kenya's match has no bearing on what Yukimura does right now, because they're playing different opponents. Momoshiro's growth has been highlighted and this match is clearly being used to show how he's evolved. It makes sense from a narrative point of view for him to win. Yukimura, on the other hand, hasn't been handed any loss in this series or given any real motivation to move forward yet. A loss would give him more cause to grow as a character.

But now is the moment, the moment to handle Yuki a power up and make him grow even more, if Konomi made Fuwa reflect back yips that means something, Yukimura can't only rely on yips, that's why he has to show that now

All I know is, Yukimura losing, would De-Value Sanada and every other middle schooler.
Considering Yukimura broke down SEVERAL techniques of other middle schoolers when Echizen went Muga no Kyouchi-crazy on him.
I hope Yukimura and Irie win more than anything. Theyve been hyped up to win too much to lose before they even reach Top10 players.
Does anyone else find it annoying that we dont know the game-count of ANY of the games that have involved the Top 20 so far..?

Yeah dude, Yuki and Irie for the win. I find it annoying also, if they win how the heck are we supposed to know without knowing the game count lol. I'm so confused because from now on I don't know what will happen. Momo and Kenya can win, but others like kabaji and kawamura have all the chances of losing (unless they make a miraculous comeback). If somebody has news on this months chapters, please post them as soon as possible.

I just hope the Top 10 matches are 1 by 1 and not all 5 at a time.
Switching between scenes aint fun.
Someone like Tooyama or Yukimura deserve a LOT more than a shared scene.
