Best Translator
http://www.onion-club.net/images/avatars/gallery/onion/Onion2.gif
Kanji? Dialect? Slang? Grammar?
This thread's purpose is to decide who is the best translator on MangaHelpers. The best translator can be a member that has consistently over a long period of time contributed greatly to making translations available at our site (both past and present), a member who provides exceptionally high quality translations, or a combination of both. Translations can be provided in many forms, a few examples are translation of raw material (manga, anime, spoilers etc) and translation of other material (general questions in a foreign language, books, movies etc).

1st nomination: HisshouBuraiken. In the beginning of time, many translators usually only TLed secretly and some posted online either reserved to a certain scan team or because they were new and needed help with it. Only hisshou stuck with us, releasing his very high quality and liberal translations week after week to satisfy our Naruto needs. Later, he even went on to translation Bleach (both manga and with DB!) :tossu
2nd: Djudge. Probably one of my favorite Bleach translators of all time. All time!
3rd: cnet128 I haven't really looked around that area for a while, but last I remember, this guy was a translation monster translating everything that moves. Not to mention, whenever there were disputes regarding the translations (with Naruto, when isn't there <.<) he would always go the extra mile to explain why he believes certain translations were right (even if it wasn't his).

I would like to Nominate Saladesu for this award for Her awesome translations of Bakuman which were always High Quality.

I wish I could nominate more since there are many amazing translators, but I could only pick three so here they are:
I would like to nominate Saladesu due to her translating so many manga such as Bakuman, which I read, until she had to stop due to real life. She not only translates manga, but she also helped shape the new translation forum~
I would also like to nominate cookie_on_fire who also consistently translates a lot and posts on MH and who translates manga I like~ :p
My third and final (but not least) nomination would be PROzess since he not only translates a lot and consistently, he also is an international translator.

Salad definetelly deserves to be on that list. Her Bakuman translations were just awesome. We always got the spoilers translated, and sometimes we even got the full chapter translation before even the public raw came out.
Next, I would like to nominate kewl0210. Toriko and Enigma would be just cleaned pages, without his translations. Another reason why I nominate him is not connected to his translating hobby, but it's his sense of humor. I urge you all to read his interview (http://mangahelpers.com/news/details/503), especially his answer to question 6. That guy is just hilarious :lmao

I'd like to nominate BomberDRufi as my first choice. Thanks for doing what very few have the guts todo, translating Gintama.

I would like to nominate the following two:
1. cnet128 : The dude's just awesome, he did such a job those last years and even if he's less active now, he definitely deserves a lot praise.
2. Queenofmuffins : I always loved her "Ao no Exorcist" translation and despite her being relatively busy she still tried her best to translate this manga, who actually has/had a lot of dialects and unusual words. She was the only one doing it when AnE wasn't very popular and she really poured all her love into it. Not to say that her translations always were accurate and easy to understand.
Will leave my third choice for later

My nominations are as follows:
1. Molokidan- Just look at his page on MH and you'll know why. My favourite OP translator.
2. Hisshou- The only naruto translator besides njt I trust. Plus as mentioned above he moved on doing Bleach anime; that's how much this guy rocks!
3. Cnet- when in doubt after reading a MS translation I find dodgy or anything, I will always check to see how it compares to cnet's versions. I really wish he could be the official translator of OP for Mangastream since Molo left to focus on RL.
Worthy mentions to njt for doing pretty much at least one manga we've all read, muffin-chan, cookie-on-fire.

i nominate saladesu. She's doing fine with a Bakuman.
hum he doesn't have the translator title but i want to Nominate Chaoticken everybody at the breaker forum know his contribution to the community.
Kaiten
September 20, 2011, 01:42 AM
I nominate njt. Not only is he a great translator, he is the founder of MH.
And of course winterlion, especially for translating Swweeet for Kotonoha.
Finally I would like to nominate Gottheim for not only being a great translator but having great taste in manga.
He is not a member but I would like to give honorary mention to Stephen Paul/Flyingrobots. As founder of Mangascreener he helped introduce a number of obscure titles such as Noramimi and Nasu, as well as introducing now familiar series such as Monster, 20th Century Boys, and Cross Game to English speaking readers.

I'd like to nominate zindryr who pretty much build up our seinen section by himself. He's a well known translator of "mature manga" and the one to introduce this demographic, as well as the love for oneshots, to the MH community by translating and promoting mature series aside from the mainstream, such as Boichi's Hotel or the legendary My Balls. He also translated the awesome Hard Gay show (no porn, mind you!) :amuse
Next I would like to nominate Sai_the_Shaman, a dedicated tennis player and even more dedicated Prince of Tennis fanboy and translator. Sai has contributed greatly in translating a wide variety of popular but also unusual series and oneshots. Always helpful and in the middle of the fandom as a PoT moderator on two forums, he also brings us fresh news and spoilers, and everything we need to know about the mecha fanscene.
Last but not least, I like to nominate Xophien, who worked a miracle when no Eyeshield21 translator was in sight. He auto-didactically learned Japanese from scratch to translate the series and despite being French and lazy, he evolved to a recognized stage of professionalism in just a few years. After the series ended, he fully dedicated his life to true Otakuism and used his language skills to research thoroughly on the published monthly share of hentai games. Amen.
I honorably mention njt and Winterlion in addition to Kaiten's post. The only reason why I didn't nominate them is because he already did and I needed to reduce myself to three selections. Pretty sure I forgot someone important but can't remember whom... .__.

1st nomination: gernot (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php?u=62076). He translates only Claymore but does it so well that it's one of the few manga where readers read basically the same thing as Japanese do. He always adds a comment when he goes with less literal but more proper-English translation (thanks to that we can see nuances that would be omitted by us otherwise). He also transliterates text so anyone can easily look some Japanese word up and scanlators won't make a mistake even if they have a raw with different number of pages or screwed order of pages. What's more he corrects his translation in case there is a mistake (which rarely occurs) or wants to better explain the meaning of some sentence which all other translators I know are too lazy to do. And there are even S translators who made HUGE mistakes (like mistaking east with south) which they did not correct. All in all he's the best translator I know.
2nd nomination: Bomber D Rufi (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php?u=16666). He is fast, consistent and reliable. What's most important though - he finishes what he starts. And he's modest. He translates one of the most difficult manga to translate (which even Viz has dropped because of it being too much of a bother to translate) with tons of text and references to Japanese culture that are hard to notice.
3rd nomination: molokidan (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php/1837-molokidan). He's super fast and quite reliable (or very reliable in case he's not doing a speed translation).

First I'd like to nominate Sai_the_Shaman (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php?do=getinfo&username=Sai_the_Shaman) for always putting in the work for PoT and SPoT. He moderates here on MH and on JAC, plus getting us up to date, quick translations, as well as going back over and making corrections when he sees a flaw in his translation.
Second, I'd like to nominate Xophien (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php?do=getinfo&username=Xophien) because we wouldn't have seen Eyeshield 21 without him, most likely.
Third, I'd like to nominate gernot (http://mangahelpers.com/forum/member.php/62076-gernot). Goral explained why better than I could.

I too nominate gernot, for the same reasons as Goral gave, being a fellow Claymore lover.

Nominating saladesu, I'm not up to date with Bakuman so I can't say for sure.
But I can tell how much effort and passion that was put in to her Nura translations.
BomberDrufi.. I dont know this person much but I know how hard as hell gintama can be.
So thank you so very much.

saladesu for her past translations of Bakuman, NuraMago and Examurai.
thewrong for his translations of Sket Dance. (Not a purple name, but definitely legit, since I used to work with him in Trinity Bakuma.)
molokidan for basically all of his contributions.
