I just don't understand.
Funimation said the anime overdid their expectations.
The manga is constantly top 5 on rankings of manga sites.
Its a battle shonen with lots of fan-service and comedy.. They tend to do well, specially ones that already have established fan-bases!

Why do you think this hasn't been picked by any US publisher (Most likely Viz)?

IMO is the ecchiness that Viz has always wanted to avoid that keeps the title only in Japan, after all that's why Viz has skipped some very succesful licenses in the last couple of years like To Love Ru, Beelzebub (Baby penis, although Dragon Ball has Goku.. But.. Well) and probably Medaka Box too for Shonen mangas and GANTZ and Tenjo Tenge for Seinen manga, although all of those are examples of Shueisha titles.
There are titles Viz edits with nudity on them but for Shonen (Which Kenichi is) I only remember a couple like Ranma, I''s, Video Girl Ai and in all of them the nudity is kinda different from the one in Kenichi.. In Kenichi is just kinda blatantly obvious or maybe I just seee it differently because Syun's art-style in nudity is more graphical than Takahashi's more comical approach..

Also if you aren't from the US, is Kenichi licensed in your country?

no, not in the US. i think so far the only country where kenichi manga has been licensed is in france and the 1st volume has a different cover than the one that was released in japan. i think matsuena made a new cover for it, i think.

Damn i still wait for US manga company will buy right to manga .. because i read online all time ( but i want to support Manga Industry in legal way) i can buy volumes in my hand .. i love to read volume before bed ...

for me, I don't want Viz media because they always drop series or cancel future volume ( i am still piss off at Viz Media because Kurohime and Inubaka series ) other U.S. Companies manga , i don't mind it ...

HSD is too much Echhi based . Half the time , the characters are displaying their undies or breasts . This makes the manga by no means suitable for kids , and as such any and all companies would be reluctant to purchase the rights fearing heat from some NGO related to the contents. Also , while HSD has a good stroy , it lacks anything out of the ordinary . In some countries as stated b4 , this doesn't make much difference, but in some countroes where the population buying such things in the paper is rare , it may not be cost effective .

P.S as for Bezzelbub , its easy to just introduce Beel as a diper wearing baby

Why is it okay for Japanese children to read material like Kenichi and ToLoveRu, but not American kids?

Its not okay for Jap kids to read it either IMHO , but in their country , it is accepted while in a general sense it is not . Also , y would u let someone import this stuff to ur country . U cant stop stuff from within the country itself , but its easier to stop import of 'em .
