View Full Version : What-If What if Naruto went to Gai for training?

People must be wondering if i am crazy, but i mean Sharigan users are at a disadvantage against Taijutsu users in general and since sooner or later he will end up fighting Sasuke. Then we would get to see some top class taijutsu and less instances of Naruto being caught in traps so easily.

I also remember Naruto in the green suit. That was when he and Jiraiya were trying to find Tsunade, I believe.
Anyways, it would be a good thing for Naruto to learn Taijutsu. And as Gai is the most skilled one in this area it's the best to ask him.
But seriously, I don't think it's gonna happen. I just have the feeling that there isn't enough time for Naruto to be trained properly by Gai because things are going on and on and he will be to busy with other stuff.

March 11, 2006, 04:52 PM
HE didn't actually wear it in the manga, Jiraiya stopped him before he could put it on XD but i heard he did in the anime :wtf
And i don't think Naruto would have passed the test to become genin that Gai gave his apprentices... or would be able to get to lee's level of taijutsu... ever...

i think it will be waste of training only taijutsu someone like naruto....he is the kyuubi-kid, he has a lot more than chakra anyone else if he can control it...thats why he should stick with jiraiya, who even said "a rough seal" for orochimaru's seal, a sannin, a legend about summoning and sealing stuff
besides if naruto masters his kyuubi talents, he will not concern about sharingan i guess :D
Predator
March 11, 2006, 07:51 PM
I think he would be wasted during the first month of training. Don't forget that all the Gai's team members are good at taijutsu in a talented way. Lee is open to taijutsu moves only, Neji is a genius and close combat specialist. Tenten is perfect with ranged weapons. All three of them needed some rough training, while Naruto would need to start from the basics. He's a ninjutsu user as well, which is not Gai's speciality. So the answer is: "If he would that would be good...... But he can't!"
Kusachu
March 11, 2006, 07:59 PM
yeah naruto uses a lot of ninjitsu...but he is also very much a taijitsu user too...that's where kage bunshin comes in most handy
his moves are mainly hand to hand combo moves. Naruto doesn't rely on ninjitsu because is isn't very good at it. Notice he doesn't really have moves that involve a lot of hand seals?? he is a very capable hand to hand fighter and training with Gai would only increase that i think. :jir_ras :jir_thumb

March 11, 2006, 08:27 PM
But Gai would not have had a solution for his Kyuubi problems, only Jiraiya has been able to help him with that up to now...
Especially the new 4tail form, if it was Gai who would have encountered it first, and not Jiraiya - who only just was able to seal him back in and discover the new 'stickers' for his fore head kakashi used XD - then Gai would've probably died versus Naruto and Kyuubi would perhaps have come back...

I think it would be great if Naruto trained with Gai.
Well, first off, Naruto heals much faster than anyone else. Also, he has crazy stanima, and loves physical training. He could reach a much higher level of Tai-jutsu much faster than any avarage ninja.
Also, if he could use Tai-jutsu with his Kage-Bunshins, that would make them much more efficient.
He mostly uses his Kagebunshins as diversions, shields or bad-looking combos at the moment, so if he could learn Tai-jutsu, he would become much stronger than he would learning a new Nin-jutsu.

Naruto's fighting style is close combat. Kage bunshin and rasengan are close combat. So its baically taijutsu and this will help him to polish his skills.
(We havent seen any new stuff from naruto in post-time)
Since Naruto seems to have the ability to fight smartly when given a chance, the taijutsu training with Gai should help him alot.

You surely have a good point here. Only Jiraiya to some degree and Yamato are able to seal Naruto in his 4-tails-state.
But just let us discuss that hypothecially without considering that Naruto now has not the time to seriously train with Gai because of all the trouble at the moment (Akatsuki, finding Sasuke...).
Although Naruto uses both Ninjutsu and Taijutsu he is not an expert in both disciplines. It's the combination which makes Naruto strong as well as his monstrous chakra.
Giving Gai a chance to train Naruto would make Naruto much more stronger because he would be able to use most of his techniques better - like Kage Bunshin. Because every Bunshin would be stronger than before training with Gai and the technique would be more effective.

In the 3rd Naruto-game for Ps2, you can choose Naruto with the Rock Lee Power-suit. And God damn Naruto rocks! (Funny as hell when he blasts someone into the sky with the Rasengan after a whicked combo, then sits down on his knees crying, waiting for a hug by Gai-sensei :) )
It's still Naruto, but with much more powerfull Tai-jutsus and combos. Funny as hell, and he even acts like Rock Lee.
I think it's a great advice, Naruto would be seriously powerfull. Also, using Tai-jutsu against Sasuke would make things allot easier, considering his Sharingan would just copy any Nin-jutsu used anyway.
chin sai
March 15, 2006, 02:20 PM
is body flickers activation too fast for the sharingan to copy, cuz it seems that whenever naru learns a jutsu, he uses it without thinking sort of instinctually, so that plus gai's training and ways of thinking. would be freakin insane

OMG I want that game...
The thing about Naruto fighting Sasuke with Taijutsu-- I agree totally! We've seen that Sasuke mainly focuses on taijutsu in battle too, to compensate for not having a mountain of chakra to use (like saving all of his chakra to use sharingan) So Naruto would need Gai's kind of taijutsu training to keep up with him. Let's not forget that Kakashi spent all that time working with Sasuke on Taijutsu so he could have speed like Lee.
I just want to see Naruto crying for Gai...LOLOL!

If Sasuke is being trained by Oro, i am pretty certain he will get alot taijutsu training based on what we have seen Oro do in battles, so going to Gai wouldnt hurt him unless Jiraya gave him adequate training in that.

I dont quite agree. In that scenario u would probably lose to a taijutsu user because would you wouldnt be able to keep up with them.I think there must be some taijutsu, look at kisame we know he has powerful water jutsu but he is also strong.

i am not saying just leave training taijutsu and train only ninjutsu..but i am saying that rather than mastering taijutsu i prefer mastering ninjutsu first..during training ninjutsu, you should also train taijustu, genjutsu too

i think naruto kakashi could teach taijutsu to naruto just as good as gai could seeing kakashi probably allready copied all gais movements... then naruto would just have to use his 1000+ kage bushin and train all day... then hes a taijutsu master...
also... naruto better learn a high speed movement for a rasengan combo because he will never hit sasuke/orochimaru with rasengan unless he traps them like kabuto.... and i dont think they would fall for that -_-

Going against what most people are saying.. you know that it would help him or make him better. I think it would hurt him because it would take away what makes naruto so strong.. and thats being unpredictable. Sure he isn't the best ninjutsu or taijutsu user but the fact he doesn't have one thing he has mastered and can look to when he is fighting makes him more dangerious. The fact your never sure what move he will use next or how he will use it is his biggest strenght and to master taijutsu would more than likely make him more of a taijutsu user and more predictable. An as for Naruto's speed lets see him fight before we judge what he needs to train on :p

The thing is though that Gai's training isnt all that special. I mean that in a technical sense , not in a general sense. The biggest aspect of Gai's training is teaching determination and hard work, and through that sheer determination they force themselves to do WAYYYYYY over the top kind of physical excercises. Gai and Lee dont have some super secret method to being super fast , they are because they run 500 laps around all of Konohagakure wearing 100-500 pound weights. Naruto doesnt need to train with Gai to figure out how to just do ridiculous amounts of excercise.
Naruto is at the best place he could be training wise. Honestly aside from the relationship between Gai and Lee, and Kakashi and Sasuke the Jounin leaders of the old Genin squads did not seem to actually teach their students personally in any of the major jutsu that they use. Team Kurenai wasnt shelling out genjutsu after genjutsu, and Team Asuma made no use of chakra knifes ever until his death.

the clones transfer knowledge but not muscles.
training with gai could bring him some more speed, but he wouldn't have the time that lee spend on gaining the speed he has, thus i think it's impractical now... and i wouldn't want to see naruto in a green spandex *shivers*

when he was training with kakashi it transfered knowlage and the brain is a muscle so it should work with your legs and it works with bruises to so it would dfinetly work believe it
hmalik1003
February 24, 2007, 02:01 PM
yea your rite. the brain is a muscle so imagine if he did go to evry jounin and lear a new jutsu. that would be crazy especially if they all individually learned one new jutsu so that would instanly make him know just as many jutsu as kakashi and imagine if in battle he created 1000 clones while he just stood back and watched every single one of his clones do the jutsu they learned. lol sexy no jutsu combined with summoning tsunades slug. what a mix
OP_overlord

it could work but i think on a smaller scale and after his runs he wouldnt be able to move an inch but he could still train his mind while in the hospital
if he was bed ridden would his clones still be or could they go learn more from kakashi will he was in the hospital, he could finsih his training with the new jutsu, and he could use it as much as he wanted cause he would be in the hospital already

The Kage Bunshin has much potential for abuse.
Although if Naruto just learned a fair number of normal jutsu instead of the accursed rasen-shuirken, I'd be much more pleased. He's bloody created his own version of a suicide attack(or will soon have).
At least a few clones should have focussed on learning other jutsu, or studying tactics.
Let him create a 1000 clones and have them just go out and discuss with jounins all of the fights they've had and what they did, so that he's aware of more of the jutsu that exist in the world and how they might be countered.
(Although its unlikely that he'll ever be defeated by a serious opponent in the manga... that extra time that it takes to think up a strategy that may or may not work, better utilized might make the difference between lif and death for a regular ninja)

i dont think Oda would use the kakashi clone training like that because as you said naruto cant lose a real fight so it wouldnt matter.

your rite. i want to see IMPROVEMENT. he barely showed n e thing in the manga(anime actually made him look alot stronger though). If he goes into a fite with sasuke knowing maybe 10 jutsus and lets not forget he cant use the kyuubi power(not that he wants too) then he will be slaughtered.
