Manga distributors arrested
Yesterday, three manga distributors (Shonen Jump and Shonen Sunday) were arrested in Kyoto. This was the first arrest of individuals using the P2P client Winny.
Although there may not be a direct influence, there may be delays in the future with regards to free RAWs.

Re: Manga distributors arrested
Good god, lets hope this doesn't delay the raws even more.. :(
Re: Manga distributors arrested
Re: Manga distributors arrested
Since winny creator was arrested in kyoto too, well perhaps getting free raws early might be delay if any other distributors besides this people arrested too...
Re: Manga distributors arrested
Well we really ought to respect our manga companies a little more. I don't think its unfair for fans to wait till the manga is actually released. If uploaders keep posting raws before raw day I think it'll be easier to track them. But if they upload after its been out there is les controversy. Its the same with the film industry, producers hate it when movies get released before the premiere but its less of a problem once its been in theaters to distibute pirated movies.
Re: Manga distributors arrested
ah man, something's looming.......
Re: Manga distributors arrested
I guess a good thing to keep in mind is the fact that we are all D/L free of charge - we are very fortunate to have these resources available.
Yeah, I agree. Having RAWs released before the Comic release dates would definitely warrant more attention.
Re: Manga distributors arrested
so it's gonna be kylara-hime's turn to shine!!! :wtf
*i miss michael chicklis... :loool*
in fact, we've almost getting our most recent raws from kylara now, instead of some crappy camshot pic with that wooden table in the bg.....
Re: Manga distributors arrested
Hey, those wood table camshots had character.
Quick summary: 3 guys, one 17, from in Osaka, Iwate and Tokyo. Arrested for copyright violation. They said in their depositions that "They wanted to be the first one to get the new manga out so they could brag to everyone that it was them."
I think we can all sympathize with that XD
Re: Manga distributors arrested
Considering all the controvery it garnered in Japan, why are they still using Winny in the first place? I'd use a Gnutella client instead; less people seem to pay attention to that network.

but it's very hard to clean or so i've heard....misaligned panels from the horizontal are the worst....but i'm sure you had a good time translating from those... :smile-big
in fact, whose eyesight has deteriorated more, yours or itachi's? :s
:Haha
but kylara's pretty safe since she obtains SJ legally from halfway around the globe from japan! :o what's more surprising is that it's earlier than the locals in japan! by several days!!!! :nuts
should be expecting it less than 3 hrs from now.... ;)

Actually, It was a 29-year old office worker in Osaka, a 26-year old part-time worker in Iwate and a 17-year old boy from Kyoto.
Understandable motive (to be the first one to get the new manga out) for a 17-year old - but not so much for the near 30-year old and 26 year-old... how embarrassing.
