I thought Medaka box was kind of boring. Then again, it's not my type of series. I could see it replacing To-love ru though. Similar protagonist.
The new chapter (raw) hasn't come out yet. Seems that we have to wait patiently till it's release. :D I wonder if the first "arcs" (rather chapters) have to do with finding the other members of the council, because right now there are only two members, but the positions are more.
The art is great. But with that being said, I didn't find the first chapter to be anything that impressive. Interesting concept, though it does seem to be an amalgan or Haruhi and Sket Dance...it'll be interesting to see where this goes.
I love the running gag of Medaka striking the same pose as the person in the foreground, with an arrow showing her position :-) It always catches me off-guard and makes me laugh out!
The art is really great, I also hope that it will last.
I hope that it doesn't turn like Sket Dance (school life, thus slice-of-life). It would be such a pity for these series to take that path...! It needs to focus more on martial arts as the one-shot did! :D
This first chapter is hard for me to comment.
I have really stupid comments like they changed the design of her underwears, that seem less elegant, sexy and expensive. In the one-shot she knows he loves her and says clearly she manipulates him and makes him follow her (and about this particular scene it seems more like a trap in the one-shot, in the first chapter she is just oblivious to any pudicity). Personally, I would have a liking for a female character that uses her assets to manipulate men (Woof, Woof! ;)), but most of readers will hate her and have disdain.
In terms of storystelling the authors like to repeat many times the same thing for the reader. It is not necessarily a bad thing. In the one-shot it was that the guy is his childhood friend and in the first chapter that she wants to help people. When I read the one-shot the fact she wants to help people did not strike me and I liked better her odd personality, because I did not know what the meaning of her actions was. I prefer characters that keep some mystery, I find them more attractive.
This change of tone clearly makes the manga compete with Sket Dance (that I know just a little).
With Beelzebub having started recently, reforming hooligan in the high school as the first arc of the manga was not a good idea. The story in the oneshot was more subtle as well.
Art and humor are OK (though there were better jokes in the one-shot).
In the end I really do not know whether it will survive in WSJ or not. My rule "I prefer the first chapter of this WSJ series to Dogashi Kaden's means this series will survive" makes me think it will.
My my...subtle fanservice in chapter 2...
@Meromorphe: My, quite an in-depth analysis of why I liked the one-shot better than the first chapter. Also, while the OS was as long as Ch1, it didn't feel dragged out to me, but Ch1 does.
I completely agree with Meromorphe. The one-shot was way better than the first chapter. It had funnier moments and the running gag of Medaka copying people's poses constantly isn't really funny. Not saying that the first chapter is bad, but it would be better if it was replaced by the one-shot as the first chapter of the series. The fact that some of Medaka's personality/actions is based on Haruhi's isn't really appealing (undressing in front of others/persistent attitude.) She would be better being a Tsundere type of character if you ask me, but please don't. The only moments that appealed to me were the fanservices. Some were a bit unique, especially one on ch. 2 (no, not the backflip pantyshot fanservice.)

Chapter 2 was fun. Medaka chasing the girl down so easily made me lol. Looking forward to the 3rd chapter.
