Material wouldn't be the issue. It can't be.
They could have easily added in fillers of 26 episodes.
Think about it. Ina Bauer ep? Oishi VS Kikumaru ep?
They gave an ep to Yuki VS Sanada, Kenya VS Shiraishi, Prince of Table Tennis, Prince of Pillowfighting(tba), Ootori VS 6th Court HSer,
They gave like 3 extra episodes to Prince of Mountain Climbing?

That there is 7 episodes they could have added in. They could have done a 22-26 seasonal or even an annual of 50-54 eps.
They have more than enough material. If they're going to make a match from that one lil Pair Puri info on Ootori VS 6th Courter,
Then they could have done Mizuki VS 6th Courter and Tezuka VS 5th Courter, etc.
There is so much they could do for an anime.

I think if they can make an episode entirely bullshitting about time in the mountains on the Losers who in terms of popularity in Japan besides Ryoma, Niou and Kenya were completely inferior to the Winners, then there is no way they didn't have enough content. They could have done more relevant and near-canon fillers involving the Player Shuffles in addition to focus on the losers and more importantly not the awful decision to rush full matches like Krauser VS Nakagauchi and Shiraishi/Kirihara's match.
They could have made WoK's match an ep if they're gonna give freaking Ootori a match.

a lot of people thought that kintarou wouldn't be in the G10 matches after he won the 14 badge, and that akutsu would absolutely face oni, once I saw oni as no 5, and ryoga as no 4, i figured ryoma and kintarou going for 4 and 5 would be a given, especially since oni beat kintarou once, kintarou would be aching for a rematch, plus kintarou is one of the top 3 revolutionaries(with Sanada and Ryoma), and i figured they would play top 10 for sure, and akutsu made it clear that all he cares about is getting back at ryoma, and if he plays in the G10 match i figured it would be against no 6 after the book thing

All of those Vol1 - 3 stuff is just remasterings of the Nationals. Just much higher quality inking.
He's also drawn a second batch of photos of players from when they were young, and another batch of the individual pictures of the MSers in their own clothes.
The pictures look fantastic though.

The inking on that Sanada picture that Konomi drew looks got damn beautiful. Rai is drawn just amazingly.
