The third movie will be released this Fall/Autumn and the fourth next year. At one point I thought it was going to be one movie released each year based on the fact that each movie had a preview of the next at the end of the credits, meaning that Gainax had already animated some of it. Here's hoping that the dubs will be released not too long after the originals.
There are 4 movies. The first stays true to the anime, they just skipped some things here and there + awesome animation. The second movie vastly differs, we get a completely new character (the rest of the characters are the same though) and a changed storyline.
The movies aren't just a remake, the creator of Evangelion said that he finally has the budget and the time to create the story he had in mind, the supposed true and complete story of Evangelion. This means there won't be any stuff of End of Evangelion included (or maybe some parts, who knows what he has in mind).
Yeah the story stills gets pretty dark, just not as depressing as the original series (the creator Hideaki Anno was actually suffering from depression during the making of the anime, but now he's pretty happy so there's probably going to be a happy ending I think). I don't mind changes to the storyline, in fact that's one of my main reasons in watching the movies, but I dislike how some characters' roles have gotten smaller (Tohji especially).
Just like Jammin, I thought I'd share a nice animated short. Some of you may have seen it 9gag already.

Inspired by both Googlez-kun and Jammin, here's my recommendation for an animated short. It was created by students at Kyoto Seikei University. (If more people post videos, we can make a thread for it. :))

His works look awfully creepy... If you probably let children watch them they'd remember for the rest of their lives...
Cat Soup anyone? it's not exactly "short" since it's 30-something minutes, but it's very nice animation.

Does anyone know if Hagure Yuusha no Estetica will have a second season? It was a very enjoyable weekly anime to watch and I hope it is renewed

Eclectic auteur director Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game, Kaiba) and Producion I.G have launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking to raise $150,000 by October 31 to fund the production of Yuasa’s original ten-minute anime short film Kick-Heart.
Kick-Heart is a love story between Romeo, a successful pro-wrestler, and Juliet, a nun who lives a secret double-life as a female pro-wrestler. Romeo’s secret is that he enjoys taking a beating in the ring, while Juliet feels invigorated when facing her opponents as a wrestler. When the two meet in the ring, the fireworks fly. Their story is set in the colorful backdrop of the professional wrestling world. Will Juliet reveal her true identity to the one she loves? Will Romeo be able to share his secret to the world?
Mamoru Oshii + Masaaki Yuasa + Michio Mihara = epicness over 9000
There should be interesting interviews coming soon so I suggest to follow this one closely.
